  1. From the games I have watched this year at both AA and AAA. The difference defensively between AA and AAA is huge...With AA being far superior. The defense on the infield is questionable and the outfielders are slow at AAA. It was so apparent that the OF was slow, Herrera was moved to OF one game before he was called up. It would of been nice if somehow the Brewers could of kept Velez and got Falu because they are both having good years and the AAA team could use some speed.
  2. I was able to attend the first 3 games in Nashville. Couple of comments...Stadium is great...Brewers affiliate missed out on an opportunity to play there. Overall pitching was better than it was in Colorado springs. Guys in scoring position and no hits...we have to be lead the league. Don't get overly excited about the number of walks by starters lately. How is it umpires are worse at the higher levels...learn your zone umps...down the middle of the plate between knees and waist is a strike. We could use some speed in the outfield, Nashville OF saved them the game in ninth yesterday by making two catches on balls that our guys wouldn't have touched. Last thing...pitch clock is annoying.
  3. I feel a bit for Jed Bradley going from starter to a reliever...then being put at AAA. There is an adjustment period and it takes time...That being said...Colorado Springs isn't the place to be learning your new role. I think Brent Suter would of been a better candidate having had a little more success at AA, but he's in the same situation having gone from starter to reliever.
  4. Watched a couple of sky sox games...the wind and elevation are ridiculous. Pitchers are going to need to pitch well on the road games to have a chance this year. Brewers screwed up big time by not locking in a AAA affiliate earlier.
  5. What makes me sad is his awesome defensive skills will be missed by a lot of brewers minor league pitchers. D'vontrey made some of the best minor league catches in the gap that I have ever witnessed, just wish they would've given him a final opportunity.
  6. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Tyrone Taylor 3. Clint Coulter 4. Gilbert Lara 5. Taylor Jungmann 6. Tyler Cravy 7. Tyler Wagner 8. Taylor Williams 9. Jake Gatewood 10. Monte Harrison 11. Kodi Medeiros 12. David Goforth 13. Marcus Diplan 14. David Denson 15. Yadiel Rivera 16. Jason Rogers 17. Hobbs Johnson 18. Jorge Lopez 19. Brandon Diaz 20. Corey Knebel 21. Jed Bradley 22. Sthervin Matos 23. Chris McFarland 24. Joantgel Segovia 25. Brooks Hall
  7. 2 innings 2 hits 1 bb 0 runs
  8. He's back from Japan and trying to get a look from Miami...
  9. When he found out he wouldn't be getting a paycheck at 2nd base, he jumped at the chance to play OF for $2 mil.
  10. Baseball America didn't even have Wang ranked in the top 20 in 2013 for the Pirates and now he is #6 or 7 for the Brewers. Doesn't make any sense and these rankings never do.
  11. Anyone hear about Thornburg's bullpen session, I would be interested to know where his velocity is at?
  12. The invite to spring training just makes it that much worse. He will end up throwing 6 good innings, the brewers will add him to the roster and then the tailspin starts. Can't wait to see where this goes.
  13. Don't like this pickup...Why even do it? Yes, he is a lefty but his numbers are horrible and have been for several years. The Brewers have plenty of guys in the system who could and would perform better than Dontrelle.
  14. Sorry to see Zarraga go...one of the better hitters in in the organization and a solid OBP over career.
  15. Minor league wages is the primary reason most players go to winter leagues. Some players make more than playing a couple years in the minors. MLB is ripping off these young players by keeping them under contract for seven years with a major majority of them receiving below minimum scale pay rate for the hours they put in...hence the lawsuit...I have heard numerous minor league players state that they could actually make more money working at In-N-Out Burger but who wants to flip burgers when you have a chance at the dream. Some people say that these players are privileged for having an opportunity to play baseball for a living but with what they are paid...it's hardly a decent living.
  16. Loved the Black Jacks too. Shuckers in my opinion was the worst of the names. My preference the Biloxi Bayou which didn't even make the initial cut.
  17. Venezuela league...Based on what I have seen...defense is horrible and the quality of play is likened to that of the pioneer league or lower. Several fields have short porches and a harder type baseball is used which is great for the hitters and not so much for pitchers.
  18. I just don't understand why you would put Jungmann on the 40 man when you don't need to protect him this year. Obviously they plan on bringing him up at some point in the year, if not the start of the year. Can someone explain the reasoning for this? I was certainly surprised by Rivera making it, I didn't think he had a chance...I guess a defensive SS with limited hitting is exactly what we need or what other teams need...Maybe he is going to have a breakout year...or not. We will see how the Strong pick plays out, I am skeptical about the choice seeing that he hasn't pitched above High A except for a couple innings at Double A...Reminds me of a guy the Brewers Front Office were high on last year...Shackleford.
  19. They're done, just the three added listed above. Goforth among those available at Rule 5 time. I wouldn't be surprised if the brewers take a rule 5 pick to fill that last spot...just like last year.
  20. My prediction is... Jungmann and Goforth to be added soon. Does anyone have a breakdown by ERA and Whip of all brewers pitchers currently in organization and still in the minors over the last three years?
  21. Joining Greg Holle in Venezuela is Tyler Cravy. Per the Bravos de Margarita website... Sorry no translation.
  22. Any chance we can get the fences moved back to 500 ft.?
  23. I am rooting for Sacramento now since I live within an hours drive.
  24. Why would a major league team want a AAA team in Fresno unless your team is on the west coast? It make no sense for the Brewers to be in Fresno. I was really hoping for Albuquerque as opposed to the other two places left. Well, from a AAA players standpoint, the housing will be cheaper in Fresno.
  25. Good take on Clint. My concern in the OF is tracking balls. Guys with above average speed that were drafted as outfielders still can have trouble tracking balls...I could name a few guys previously drafted by the crew but won't.
