  1. Dominguez blows Mark Reynolds out of the water defensively. Absolutely blows him out of the water. I tracked this kid for three years before he reached the Majors. He was being touted as a Gold Glove caliber third baseman with plus power. He's never reached his potential, but let's face it, he's better than anything we have in the minors right now that could contribute at the Major League level. That's how sad our system has become. The DFA of Wang should be the last straw in Melvin's coffin. I've been done with him for a while, but this move, keeping him on the 40 man roster when he brought absolutely nothing to the team (and I do mean NOTHING), only to drop him the next year, is a big blinking sign that our General Manager is a clueless dolt that I wouldn't trust to run a Dairy Queen, let alone a Major League Baseball franchise. He's failed miserably at the Major League level. In three decades, none of his teams have reached the World Series. That's where we hope to one day get to, right? With Melvin at the helm, all we are doing is pushing the calendar back more. Melvin's continued employment by the Brewers only extends out this terrible trend further. I remember the Brewers saying the same about nick delmonico as far as hitting and fielding and he never panned out. I think ultimately you need to look at the owner.
  2. If he clears waivers no he would not need to be added to the 40 man, but then he'd be eligible to be taken in the Rule 5 draft. Wang was one 1 of 2 left handed starting pitchers currently in the system that can work in the low 90s with regularity, it's way too early for people to be giving up on him considering his lack of experience. Yes we have Kirby coming, but he likely won't work as a starter until next season and has control issues himself. You don't need 90s to be an effective lefty....Brent Suter is never talked about and maybe he should.
  3. I don't like the move because you have at least 5 guys better than him. Matt clark, Jason rogers, gomez, herrera, ramirez.
  4. Maybe Ramirez is getting traded soon?
  5. I really don't understand claiming guys that aren't going to help. Do they think it's an upgrade? It's not.
  6. I saw that coming.
  7. The Biloxi Sun-Herald reports that Burgos is expected to be on the Colorado Springs roster after his Temp Inactive stint. So the starter with the highest era gets promoted? I'm confused.
  8. Not trying to pile on to the kid as he's been thrown into an impossible situation, but over-promising and under-delivering has pretty much been the theme this year. Is there a farm system more bereft of MLB-ready talent than Milwaukee's? I questioned the call up for the simple fact that Wagner hasn't even faced that many quality hitters by pitching at AA. Most of the pitching staff at AA have good numbers. Pitching in the AFL was probably the closest thing to quality hitters that he has faced and his numbers weren't that good, but it was a small sample size. That being said, a couple misplays and leaving the ball up at any level isn't going to help. It has to be tough pitching for the first time at the MLB level in front of family too, so I'll wait for his next start before offering up any more opinions. After listening to several pitchers at AAA during pregame interviews its apparent that you need good off speed stuff in order get hitters out at AAA. Yadiel Rivera made reference to seeing more off speed stuff than at Double AA. I think that applies at the MLB level also. That being said I think most pitchers need to gain some extra experience by pitching at AAA.
  9. Sorry to see Guez go down...He was improving at AAA after a little rocky start. The AAA outfield is a little thin now.
  10. Random variables that have no meaning. It would be difficult to actually calculate something like this. The article is nonsense.
  11. His post said Braun for Syndegaard. For both Braun and Gomez he said we should be able to get ALL of their young prospects. I was somewhat facetious about ALL. I would hope that's obvious. However, in the case of Braun and Gomez that is 5.5 years of control for Braun and 1.5 years on Gomez. If both are healthy that's 10 WAR per year assuming Braun goes back to LF. In the case of the Mets, their OF is brutal. What should/is that worth? The Mets have two other pitchers at AAA that are possibly better than Syndegaard...that's scary. One of them already has two or three complete games. I highly doubt the Mets would let either one go at this point.
  12. +1. If we dont trade Gomez I will be furious. If we dont trade Lucroy I will be slightly less mad, but still irked. Trading those two guys would be enough to restock the farm system if you do it right. I don't know if I would trade Lucroy just yet. If the mentality is to bring up younger prospect pitchers, then they are going to need a seasoned quality veteran behind the plate. I really love the way Lucroy frames the ball and he's going to be a positive influence on the young guys coming up. I just don't see any of our other catchers in the system being anywhere close to Lucroy's overall game.
  13. It would be nice if the Brewers purchased a AAA team and built a facility as good as the one in Appleton and soon to be Biloxi. It's sad that your low A team currently and for years has had the best facility in the organization. For years the double and triple A teams have played at the worst stadiums in the minor leagues...Joe Davis and Greer were beyond bad.
  14. So are you saying that Cravy should have had an opportunity last year and you are upset that he was passed over this year because he was stuck in Colorado? I would agree that where he is at now isn't the best place but it was different last year with the Brewers being in contention and not really needing much starting help plus the fact that Cravy got injured fairly early on. Jungmann was pitching well in AA last year also but only did okay when going to Nashville and certainly hasn't helped things with his performance thus far this year. Wagner definitely deserves a bump up as do some of the other AA pitchers but all the way to the majors is questionable. I would like to see all the pitchers in the organization face the best hitters before advancing to the majors. At AAA, you are facing a lot of hitters with MLB experience, I would like to see how the better pitchers perform at that level. Cravy got hurt after all star break. Jungmann performed well the latter half at AAA. Pitchers numbers at AAA may look ho-hum to awful but there has only been a handful of full time starters that pitched in Colorado Springs over the last ten years that had a sub 5 era.
  15. Was Wooten taken off 40 man?
  16. No, the typical move would have been to move blazek to the rotation and call up a 6 year MiLB reliever to fill in the pen Lol. You are absolutely correct.
  17. Why not move him to AAA and see how he pitches against better hitters. Last year one or two guys at AA had better numbers than Wagner...where is their reward for success? Colorado Springs... Someone posted earlier about not exposing any AA pitchers to Colorado Springs, I guess management concurred. A couple starters at AAA are doing well when you compare them to past starters at Colorado Springs. I guess I will retract my typical statement since they didn't bring up Brooks Hall.
  18. Anyone know if Kintzler cleared waivers?
  19. Wow. Typical Brewer move...Just proves a point that they are grasping at straws.
  20. I'd agree with that however now it seems to be getting better with Wisconsin and Biloxi. BC is so so. Nashville would have been great if they didn't turn back on us. High Desert wasn't a good place, for a pitching prospect even worse Under the worst places, add Colorado Springs.
  21. Why is he throwing a bullpen with it on? Sounds like he wipes 70% off and then allows the other 30% to remain when he pitches. You dont need a lot of it when you only throw an inning. Is his stuff better with it? Yes Is it illegal? Yes ...going to cost him 10 days pay.
  22. Former Huntsville fans aren't to happy with the team leaving...116 people at game yesterday.
  23. Has anyone heard the latest? The Brewers are going to have relievers start some games and then the starters will come in at the start of the third inning. This is at the AAA level only. Strange?
  24. I don't agree with any of them bypassing AAA. Let's see who can get out more experienced hitters and how they learn to pitch in adversity. Their numbers are great but the league is down as far as prospect hitters this year and they possibly have the best defensive team ever in terms of a Brewers affiliate. Brewers are signed through next year at Colorado Springs.
  25. I am going to throw my 2 cents in...never liked the Garza signing...I also didn't like the fact that they had Broxton and then they felt like they needed krod...my issue is they will rarely have a lead in the 7th, 8th or 9th inning so why pay for a closer when you need more bats. They went out and got Lind, but nothing else. Ramirez should've retired this year. I'm out!
