  1. I would go with Pina, honestly. And spend $$ and trades towards pitching
  2. I'd really like to see the Brewers go heavy on drafting pitching. Since we'll likely never land a big time pitcher in free agency, we absolutely need to draft & develop pitchers
  3. Doesn't have to be a starting pitcher. Will Harris, Drew Pomeranz, Andrew Cashner, Tyler Clippard, Brandon Kintzler, Daniel Hudson. 2-3 of those guys would likely be a big upgrade over the course of a full season...
  4. I don't think anyone is suggesting they don't pursue pitching upgrades, but you can't rob peter to pay paul. Their offense, even with Grandal and Moustakas, was just middle of the pack in the NL. They need to make additions to both the offense and pitching whether that's through re-signing their own outgoing free agents or pursuing different players. Mark A is still the owner. If we re-sign both Grandal & Moose, we won't be able to make significant upgrades with the pitching staff, unless Stearns pulls off a miracle trade.
  5. We had Grandal & Moose and made it to the Wild Card game & no further. If we have a limited budget, why would re-signing them help us get any further if we don't do anything to bolster our pitching?
  6. Is Hader really one of the "faces of the franchise"?!? The franchise is fueled mostly by casual fans ( and thank God for them because without the beer drinkin' tailgatin' casual fans there wouldn't be a franchise in Milwaukee ). I heard & read a ton of casual fans complaining about Hader lately, saying he's overrated & choked in the wildcard game etc etc... I think they'll get over a trade of Hader... And the casual fans will pretty much be there anyways as long as the team doesn't suck... Anyways, I included Braun in the trade proposal not because I would want to get rid of him, but because he has value. And the Dodgers are the only team not on Braun's no trade list, right? I think it'll take more than just Hader to get Lux (I know, I know, Brewerfan.net traditionally overrates every single Brewer ever)... Moving Braun gets a lot of money off the books. Feel free though to keep Braun and add someone else...
  7. We get 5-6 years of Lux and take significant money off our books to invest elsewhere in the offseason. You have to give to get, and losing Hader would hurt, but to have Lux as an offensive upgrade at Shortstop would be tremendous... Thoughts?
  8. Gerrit Cole will likely be a Yankee or Dodger
  9. Corey Ray was not a bust this year. He was injured during much of the season.
  10. Hader is one of the very few big trade chips we have that can really help to bring in a much needed (and more important to the team) Shortstop. Relief Pitchers are volatile by nature, year to year. His production is trending downwards. Yes, I'd trade him...
  11. Ed Sedar would be perfect as a 1B coach. Or maybe as the AAA manager.
  12. A couple things here. Yes, Villar had a nice season. With that said hindsight is 20/20, I'm not sure anyone really questioned the move at the time and it's much easier to put up those kind of numbers 40 games back of contention. I definitely did. Villar had no future in Milwaukee though, it seemed clear that the coaching staff ran out of patience with him. I am a huge Stearns fan though, he gets way more tight than wrong. Intrigued as to where/who exactly he is going to get more offensive & defensive production out of SS though? Didi Grogorius is a free agent, but barely had more offense than Arcia this year. Do we have enough player ammo to trade for a Shortstop? As is typical of every single offseason that I've been a Brewers fan: we need more pitching!
  13. Hader is crucial to winning? He gave up 15 HR's in 75 Innings & couldn't throw strikes in the wildcard game. Hader is crucial to winning in the sense that he has enough name recognition and past accolades that he could be a key portion of a trade that improves the ball club.
  14. Who is dumb enough to trade away young, controllable, talented players? Dombroski got fired. Seattle might be dumb enough. We could possibly trade multiple players, including Grisham & Turang etc, for Jarred Kelenic. I could see Kelenic being ready for the show in 2021...
  15. I have little faith in Mark A spending enough, and lots of faith in Stearns putting together miracle rosters with other teams' cast offs and "under valued assets"
  16. I agree. But I think that is what the Brewers will do. They'll go into Spring Training hoping Shaw rebounds while considering platooning him with Spangenburg & having a glimmer of hope that Erceg finally starts raking.
  17. The Brewers best chance of signing Gerrit Cole is if Mark A sells the franchise to somebody else who wants to sign bigtime free agents. The chances of Mark spending Cole money are less than 1%. There is a better chance of Rickie Weeks coming out of retirement and leading the NL in Home Runs
  18. Hey at least we get another wildcard pennant at Miller Park Just embarrassing. See you guys in the Hot Stove season.
  19. Is this franchise snake bit?! What did we do to bring on this jinx? Is this because of Bud Selig? Seriously?!!! How old do I need to get to see the Brewers win it all???!!! It was a remarkable run to get here... See you in the offseason threads where we speculate on all the signings that we know in our hearts that Mark won't spring for...
