  1. Really hoping for a blowout before Counsell destroys our best bullpen arms. Seriously
  2. Any idea if any of these games will be on TV? Really hoping Ray takes a step forward with his hitting this fall.
  3. Probably a smart move, he throws too over the top to successfully pitch without tearing up his elbow. Sandy Koufax had a (relatively) similar throwing motion.
  4. According to Baseball Reference, Brett Phillips now has a higher WAR than Keon Broxton.
  5. Braun has a level of confidence that borders on insanity. You kind of have to have that type of confidence to be a great MLB player. But Braun has extra doses of it. I think he sincerely believes he could play Shortstop in MLB. He won't shrink in the face of pressure no matter at what age. The trick is figuring out how much he can give the team during the regular season from 2018-2020 and trying to make sure he is healthy for the postseason of those years
  6. Good point OnaBadger58 about RISP this year, very good point. I suppose what I mean by Braun being "clutch" is that we've seen the huge at-bats from him in the postseason and down the stretch in '08 and '11. I think Braun has an elite (there's that word again!) ability to chill himself out and relax and focus in super high pressure situations such as playoff games. Not everyone has that, and it isn't something that goes away I don't believe.
  7. The top players on high school teams that do summer ball don't play for their high school lately (Jarred Kelenic is an example of that. By the way have you guys seen Kelenic play? Holy Wow he is a special talent!)..... Joining the majority of Wisconsin in Spring Ball is probably a good thing. I think next summer we'll try to get to a Cubs game or two at Miller Park
  8. Great post and great food for thought, thank you! I hope you'll post here more frequently!
  9. Is Braun an Elite Hitter still? How big of a group are the Elite Hitters? It is hard to know without knowing how many minor injuries he is playing through. Even in his MVP year and top seasons he was never selective enough to be a top echelon HOF insider top 5-10 hitters of All-Time. That lack of ability to restrain himself from chasing is more exposed now that the skills are declining and/or injuries are mounting. What Braun has proven in the past is that he is incredibly great in the clutch. I think Braun has some huge games left in him if the Brewers can make the playoffs over the next several years. 2 outs bottom of the ninth bases loaded in a World Series or NLCS 7th Game, I would absolutely want a 35 or 36 year old Ryan Braun at the plate over many many other hitters in MLB who might be considered "better".
  10. Mostly just the difference between teams that are out of it and the Brewers that are young and still in it.
  11. Personally, I'd go with '07/'08, with hopes for '17/'18
  12. Yes I'm glad to see Phillips starting, but why isn't Arcia starting? Is he hurt? If he isn't that is completely ridiculous.
  13. The Indians seem really loaded. Most of the same team from last year except now they have Edwin Encarnacion & Jay Bruce. Jose Ramirez is playing out of his mind, Francisco Lindor is suddenly a 30 HR guy while maintaining the Gold Glove D at short, and Kluber is finding his groove at the right time.
  14. Yes indeed! With Jeffrey Luhnow catching the ball, a glove in one hand and a laptop in the other.
  15. Or, he slipped on the bag. Does everything have to be overanalyzed? Yes
  16. Barnes is just one of those guys who will get a long organizational leash because of his velocity but he's been getting hit hard lately
  17. Can we please just start him in CF for the rest of his time as a Brewer?!
  18. Brian Anderson is actually pretty damn entertaining tonight
  19. LOL --- fair play with that comment I will say I'd be thrilled to be wrong re Thames. It is starting to look like I am Go Brewers!!!!
  20. I just hope Mike Trout and the Angels come to Miller Park in 2019. If so I'm going to as many of those as I can. My kid is disappointed that Cleveland is playing a Tues/Wed in May, he's a high school Baseball player so won't be able to go and would love to see the Indians. Oh well... I kidded with him "don't worry we'll go see the Reds for the 20th time in your life later that summer." He didn't think that was so funny. I'm a baseball coach. If a father came up to me and said I want to take my son to a pro baseball game so that he can see Mike Trout live. I would tell them thank you for doing so and I'll set up some individual practice time with him to work on some skills we did during the practice he missed. Can't replace those memories and what he will learn from going to see something like that. To be clear, my Kid wouldn't want to miss a practice to attend a Brewers game. He's a little Baseball crazed. His disappointment is in the luck of the draw of the schedule, not that he can't go. I do think it is cool that you have that attitude as a coach. Not to veer too off topic but the Angels are playing at Minnesota June 7-9 2018, so we might plan a road trip for that.
  21. It is embarrassing to root for a team that flies a divisional title flag, honestly

  23. Put me down as thinking this is not a smart move... Beginning to really question Counsell as a manager, which is weird because the Brewers have overachieved well beyond what most would have predicted and are in it this late in the season. I don't get sitting Villar when he finally gets hot (hitting over .380 in the last 28 days) and don't get this move either. Eric Thames is hitting .182 as a lead off hitter yet there he is night after night... It really took Counsell a long time to realize that Barnes was a poor choice late in games Etc etc....
