  1. Estrada is ready. Peralta needs 48 more pitches according to Managing Baseball: A Beginner's Guide.
  2. Wish we could move the number on our own for a change but... http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2014/08/06/images/mlbf_35121507_th_43.jpg
  3. Just noticed Wang's start for Brevard County Wednesday wasn't half bad: 7.2 IP, 7 H, 0 BB, 2 ER, 8 K And the first part stands - Peralta is lost tonight, roll the dice with Estrada and give the team some chance to win.
  4. 3 runs might be doable. But as Peralta is well short of 100 pitches, he will be left in as the lead becomes insurmountable. Even though there was an off day yesterday and even though we can activate Garza and add Wooten, Figaro, Pena, Blazek, and Wang on Monday.
  5. Another Estrada night? Between the mounting bad starts where long relief is needed and putting on K-Rod's uniform to give up home runs he's racking up the appearances. Soler: 3-3, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB
  6. I'm good with Herrera getting the time. Wish there was a way to platoon to get some regular pattern but Segura's splits are somehow tolerable against RHP and abysmal against LHP, and Herrera also drops off when turned around. Less excited about sitting Khrush again. But it's the right move since Gomez/Braun had the off day yesterday and Parra is 7-23 with a .370 OBP against Vogelsong.
  7. 1-3 hitters: 0-8, 7K 6-8 hitters: 3-5, 1 BB, 0K Ran out of left-handed bats to fill a full split squad lineup or we'd be piling on the runs by now.

  9. He's joined the Axford Club of close calls. Unless things turn back around, both will have left some serious change on the table.
  10. I know. It sure looked like he was "back" when he tossed the no-no. I wonder who will replace him in the rotation? Yusmeiro Petit. Someone help me remember, who were we floating and what did we end up doing when we were trying to acquire Petit back when he was in the Mets' system?

  12. We scored in six innings, including seven from the 5th inning on, when our offense is below the MLB average. Not going to wet myself in excitement over one game, but that's enough to make me tinkle a little. Let's be fair.....it's the Padres. Perfect team to make a rehab start. The Tim Lincecum-style no hitter squad. Gomez could have mono and still play with energy. He hung a slider, and a good piece of hitting to not try and pull it. That's a home run in any other park, partner. Had the pitch done what he wanted it to the catcher would have made an outstanding block. Haven't liked the overuse of Duke in particular lately. Could have just gone multiple with Kintzler to save one of the two. I'm ready for September when we can throw Wooten, Figaro, even Wang out there in games like these.
  13. Adding to the ML lead in first inning offense. Average of .66 runs, actually a sizable margin over #2 LAA (.61) or NL #2 Colorado (.59). Here's to not trending down as the game progresses for a change.
  14. Below average starter who's strung together a couple decent starts? Just the thing that's made our lineup look like a clown convention. I'd almost rather face Kershaw.

  16. No runs since the second inning. Do we just mail it in after a couple early runs or it is inability to respond to adjustments? Our latest runs per inning and MLB rank: 1: 1 (.65) 2: 4 (.53) 3: 9 (.51) 4: 12 (.52) 5: 16 (.49) 6: 17 (.47) 7: 23 (.40) 8: 19 (.40) 9: 25 (.25)
  17. [sarcasm]I wonder who our pitcher of the month will be?[/sarcasm]
  18. Can't wait to get back to the west coast. Or anywhere on the road. We're 3 games better at home than the 50-77 Rockies and after tonight 3 games better at home than the 57-72 Cubs.
  19. Seem to be putting on plenty of base runners the past few games then choke.

  21. Put Estrada in two innings earlier and there's a chance.
  22. Could have at least tried to keep the lead manageable, but Managing For Beginners says a pitcher should approach 100 pitches before being pulled.
  23. I think I'm ready to see Estrada. But I have a feeling he would put the ball on a tee tonight.
  24. Some terrible defense tonight. Yo needs all the help he can get and is getting none.
