  1. Rogers! Shocked Roenicke isn't sticking with his gritty veteran Reynolds with only four more games to appreciate his horribleness.
  2. A few updates I found: http://baseballbiloxi.com/ Site for updates on the new team. They use a "bb" in Brewer style for "Biloxi Baseball". Looks like they had a "name the team" contest. The website has a construction cam, but not much to look at yet. Selling season tickets for the entire season, with a handy GMail address if you're looking for info... http://www.wxxv25.com/news/local/story/Construction-on-Track-for-Biloxi-Baseball-Stadium/TDWxu-AjjUuOVwAkI0S_Bg.cspx Most recent construction update I could find. Looking at the steel going up in October, completion date of Aug/Sep 2015. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutchess_Stadium A reference point for optimism. Dutchess Stadium in NY is a bit smaller than MGM Stadium will be, but the substantial construction was done in a 71-day window to get it ready to play ball. Completion took another two years. Probably the likely course of current construction - make it possible to play ball as soon as possible.
  3. The hero for the Rangers last night http://espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/story/_/id/11573247/guilder-rodriguez-texas-rangers-gets-first-mlb-hits-13-years-minor-leagues
  4. I use/hear "ping me" fairly often just as an informal way of saying "contact me by whichever method is appropriate". Which I guess can lead to a "what's bugging you?" rant on those who choose an inappropriate medium of communication One of the pet peeves at work: when someone has to knock on your closed door to come in and tell a pointless story, someone else calls without warning and drags the dialogue on for a half hour instead of sending a meeting invite...not too bad when another person writes up a book of an e-mail, since they only wasted their own time when you make them regurgitate it in person
  5. San Francisco, due to earthquakes, is more prone to a natural disaster which could create complications causing them to back out of playoff contention. I'm assuming that's where our 1.2% playoff odds are founded upon.
  6. If our pitching can extend their scoreless innings streak for another 72 innings (minimum), we might have a shot!
  7. I'd rather have both of them anywhere but the ballpark too.
  8. The whole "quiet confidence" thing coming out of spring training wasn't a ruse; there was legitimate belief that they had something this year. Not sure MA will buy into that again so easily if little changes. Just think he's too smart a guy to delude himself into thinking the team is over the hump if he lets Melvin overpay for one aging average free agent and again think he struck gold with a couple of non-roster invitees that no one else wanted.
  9. In a way I'm glad Broxton blew it since this team should be punished for once again putting up two runs. Are there any teams as unenjoyable to watch right now? Remove teams that actually win and you're left with the Cubs (young talent), the Rockies (put up a bunch of runs). We're right there with the Mets and D-Backs in the Sea of Lame.
  10. 5 runs in 31 innings. Just so hard to stomach watching hitting that bad.
  11. As usual, Fiers is awesome. As usual, our offense is inept.
  12. It drives me crazy when I buy an energy drink off the shelf with other things and the cashier bags everything else but sets the energy drink on the counter. Seriously, what kind of sick weirdo drinks warm energy drinks?
  13. Reynolds still won't go away? Would have liked to see Rogers if Aramis was getting the day off.
  14. Luc actually said he called down and away. Given where Fiers' head was, it was going to be anywhere but.
  15. Yep, the old "undisclosed amount", or probably about $1.25 to be able to say they fined him.
  16. Pull an Arod/Kobe and go get some stem cells in Europe this winter.
  17. That's a perverse way to get his eighth strikeout. Ron's got to get Fiers out and watch out for his batters. Can see where Luc set up for Stanton - if anything it was supposed to be low in the zone and ended up tailing away badly. Neither intentional, but I guess the Marlins' issue will be with even using the inner half of the plate on the next pitch after that.
  18. So this is what it feels like to have a first baseman who isn't terrible. Segura with a 5 game hitting streak and a hit in 7 out of 9 games. Might be there's hope for him yet.
  19. Ugh, can Melvin just release Reynolds so Roenicke stops playing him? I'd rather have Yuni on the roster.
  20. Matt Clark: as many RBIs tonight as Mark Reynolds has had since August 15, and as many home runs as Overbay has had since June 23. Looks like our policy for Badger Mutual insurance runs has finally been renewed.
  21. [sarcasm]Clearly Wooten is the missing piece. It wasn't the return of Garza or Wang or Figaro or Schafer, it's got to be Wooten. 14-3 the rest of the way, look out NL Wild Card contenders![/sarcasm]
  22. The time has come. Fans going to the remaining games on this homestand, please paper bag it: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_CHGDDtVthgE/SxfP5oIoEGI/AAAAAAAAAfI/K-Ld_QBJxeg/s400/nets-fans-bags-on-heads-mavericks-33d39b68736d05a5_large.jpg
  23. I hope they discover the "most efficient way". Been to a couple events recently where they had not and getting in has been unbearable. Think MP is set up well enough that it won't be too terrible. Common sense measures will help too, i.e. if there is a "Club / Preferred" lane with literally nobody in line and security people standing around and the main line has a 20 minute wait, I pray they use logic to help get people in the door where other stadiums don't.
  24. No Braun and no Reynolds? Already a minor victory!
