  1. Think Haudricourt has his bet in. Tom @Haudricourt · 5m 5 minutes ago I asked Doug Melvin if Craig Counsell was going to be the new manager and he said he couldn't comment until tomorrow. Tom @Haudricourt · 46s 47 seconds ago So, Melvin said he needed time to put a new manager in place. That means it's not a coach. If from inside, Craig Counsell is logical choice.
  2. Thought I was reading into it too much, but this caught my eye as well. The term "replacement" used rather than "interim manager". Add that things were already lost that sending him on the road trip could not have doomed or saved his job, and it might be onto something.
  3. Patience. Most teams don't know if they're buying yet. They'll pull the trigger for a Lohse or Garza only if they can get them at a bargain price. It'll be two months before most teams become serious contenders and are willing to pay for a missing piece. Also waiting for the draft to determine which current prospects aren't as essential to long-term plans. Then the top trade pieces will demand several top prospects, and we'll get whatever our best value is for our not top trade pieces to organizations not willing to trade the whole farm. Just hope we go the true prospect route; Melvin's always been inclined to find "major league ready" prospects; teams willing to part with them usually means they're "ready" to spend a career on the bench or in AAA.
  4. Fightin' Phils losing by four. Might be able to get back within 20 runs of the #29 spot in run differential.
  5. Know exactly how you feel. The Bucks' season is over for all intents and purposes, yet it was still really exciting to win a playoff game when you feel it sets the foundation to advance further in the future. The re-emergence of the franchise is going great - exciting young team, energetic and capable young coach, new ownership, new branding, working to a new arena. The Brewers just have none of the buzz going on - can't when your winning percentage is half that of the next worse team in the league and there isn't even young talent to watch develop. Just really need something to look forward to.
  6. I'm still waiting for the promised "damn good reason" that Attanasio promised fans last year if changes weren't made in the off-season, because I don't consider any of the staff firings or roster moves to be material changes. I guess the fans need to start showing that they weren't given that reason to come back:
  7. Mascot fight. Blame Barrel Man for our misfortunes and have Bernie beat him up.
  8. Probably just ride him. Even if you give him some time off with a "soreness" DL stint, it's not like trade suitors wouldn't sniff that...still more trade value in the guy that ate innings (badly) than the one who stunk so bad that worst team in baseball sat him.
  9. Rick Renteria? Thought he did a nice job with that young Cubs roster last year.
  10. Is it too early to see some paper bag heads for the next homestand?
  11. I'd like them to loop Mark A's declaration that there would be changes or a good explanation if there weren't. Maybe they can show a summary of his monumental changes of firing one coach but not his brother, one base coach but not the clown opposite him, and acquiring an aging and oft-injured player to single-handedly fix the roster.
  12. What clown put him on the roster instead of Herrera, Rogers, Clark, or Sardinas? Did they think he was a good player or were they convinced our lineup was so solid that none of them would get the at-bats needed to stay sharp?
  13. How many times does it let you vote? At this rate my write-ins will get Geoff Jenkins in there, just try and stop me.
  14. Yount, Molitor, Cooper, Gantner. If I can have one not on the list...Jenkins!
  15. We can hope he'll make changes if he gets too frustrated. Then again, his rant last year about changes being made or a good explanation provided if they weren't resulted in firing the hitting coach but not his brother, and the first base coach but not the caricature at third.
  16. A few more buffers than I'd like, but not too bad using the Fire TV. They've added in game box scores to the app since last season. That's one check, but still lacking audio overlay, picture in picture, highlight clips, or anything else that the browser version or At Bat app have.
  17. Ronalded out of a chance at a bigger inning. Did Logan Schaefer's new number fool Roenicke into thinking he wasn't the same useless hitter?
  18. Segura hits a weak grounder to third instead of a weak grounder to short. And Brian thought we couldn't spot the difference!
  19. Finally, we're back! It always looks potent until the inevitable June injury to Tulo. How many points off his BA if he can't do his 30 second OCD ritual between each pitch?
  20. Coach could be announced as a Hall of Famer before the game Monday, when the class is announced. He could literally have the best day ever.
  21. From what I've heard it's his ACT score (so yes, grades). Nah, not going to get into Maryland but not UW. It's just that he was a shoe-in for Maryland. Bo doesn't seem to play that game, and it has turned out pretty well for him.
  22. Try missing the the Braves series from 250 and the Nats from 400 miles away. Heard they were looking to loosen the blackout restrictions this year, but not sure exactly what effect that'll have.
  23. I'd find it less lame to wear a past player's jersey than one's own name. If I were worried about the risk of the player leaving, I think I'd probably just get one without a name on the back. Personally, I'm in the t-shirt club. Have probably tossed a half dozen over the years when the players leave. More practical to wear and less to replace with a new one. I've actually thought about using the logo on the front of old t-shirts to make a pillow or something, but never bothered. Now, the next side track - what about the dudes who get the Alex Morgan men's jerseys? Weird to wear a female athlete's jersey, or acceptable if she's that hot?
  24. I thought I would be done with them...then I got to the word "Charlotte". Now that would make it interesting. If my home team relocated to my new home, how would I feel about it? They would be the Brewers in name (assuming no name change), and I could go to many more games. Then again, visiting friends and family in the summer is much more pleasant when you can take in a couple of games. I suppose I would root for them, but probably not on the same level. It just wouldn't be the same.
  25. Another vote for Arrested Development. Just finished watching it myself. http://media.giphy.com/media/n0WvhHFTpihk4/giphy.gif Watched Marco Polo before that. Not perfect but pretty good. Quite the disparity on Rotten Tomatoes between 30% from critics and 93% audience. I'll side with the audience as well.
