Couldn't have asked for a better start from Fiers. If he can pitch as well as any of the other starters you've got to give consideration to keeping the rotation intact through the off days coming up and getting the other pitchers the extra day or two of rest. -
Scooter's quad must be ok to be in the lineup two days in a row. Especially when Weeks' play last night would give a good excuse to sit him. Interesting that Overbay 9-26, 3 HR vs. Greinke, sits for Reynolds 1-6, 1 HR, and Parra 8-24, all singles sits for Davis (never faced). They combine for 17 hits in 50 ABs; the rest of the team combined has 10 in 37 ABs.

Good things happen as Rickie loses his helmet. I like when it happens in the batter's box. Thanks to Mattingly for pulling Hernandez after 64 pitches. Started their rally, but Fausto could have made us look foolish for nine if Mattingly had confidence in them getting the runs at some point.

Someone threw a solid bullpen inning? Thank you Will Smith! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/01/Jiggy.jpg

6 pitches, 0 strikes, 5 swings, 1 weak grounder, 1 run? Nice. Put Segura in, the certain weak grounder to short will plate another run.

Roenicke just peed his pants a little.
-
Say what you will about Weeks, he can at least work a count more often than not.

Now pitching for the Dodgers, Tormund Giantsbane. http://images6.fanpop.com/image/polls/1251000/1251016_1374421028733_full.jpg

We'll pound one of them. It's the average starters like Hernandez where we pile up pathetic at-bats.
-
Three lefties in the bullpen, two have been bad lately and one seems to only pitch once a week in a meaningless situation.
-
Back to AAA with you, Wooten.
-
Should have told our players the Dodgers traded for Felix Hernandez. They wouldn't have looked like total clowns all night after the fourth batter if there was an ace on the mound.
-
Yovani Lohse on the mound tonight.
-
As many hits in the first four batters as in eight innings against Hernandez a month ago. And twice as many runs through five batters. Let's see it all night; can't stand when we hit early then don't touch the starter after and he goes seven strong.
-
If it's any cause for optimism, 40% of their at-bats against Hernandez came on July 9, when the team as a whole was broken. Total: 14/64 .219 July 9: 3/26 .115 Previous: 11/38 .289 Hernandez seems to be pretty much the same pitcher as he was a month ago. Has our lineup recovered?

Roenicke officially announced after today's game that Fiers has the start Saturday.
-
With the Dodgers playing a late game tonight he can be in Milwaukee before the rest of them. Hopefully he doesn't own our lineup like he did last month.

Not a terrible call. They've been seeing 98 all day and haven't hit anything hard, give them more of the same. If it was for anyone but Jeffress then it would be stupid.
-
Of all their big contracts, the Phillies manage to unload the $1M/2 months owed to Fausto Carmona? Heh, hopefully if he goes he doesn't completely dominate us like he did last month. No, but a tad closer than Braun failing to hold up and then swinging at three garbage sliders. Yeah, that was pretty awful. It's amazing how bad Braunie has looked at times. He's swinging at a lot crap this year. I don't know if he's just guessing more or what, but it's tough to watch. A couple weeks ago he was on some kind of "look at everything" kick. It was maddening yet more so refreshing when he was watching perfectly good pitches go by...I'd be up for a little more of it.

A fans who grabs a fair ball with his hand should lose that hand.
