  1. The World Selig Classic was a lame idea. Would rather our guys get to spring training. Especially the catchers, the guys who struggled last year, or those competing for opening day roster spots.
  2. Agree, give me the kid. If Green wants to stay in camp and try to earn the job, I'd consider him. Otherwise it's a few weeks; maybe you find a way to platoon, but it's not going to cause something that wasn't an issue already if we don't need to wait until 2015 to give Morris a shot.
  3. Had MLB.TV in the past, recently switched to DirecTV. A lot easier and less expensive if you're only interested in the Brewers + some other Fox teams. Sports pack that has all of the FSN regional networks is only $8/mo.
  4. Segura has to tank it in the spring to not be the starting SS. Bianchi will have to compete for a utility role, which probably means having passable defense at 2B or 3B. If he lasts the entire season on the bench without getting sent down it would be considered a success.
  5. Too much risk for the potential reward in re-starting Rogers. Marcum has to stay in the rotation, if he can pitch we need him to play. He's got a new contract on the line, he hasn't thrown too many innings, and he's got the second most experience so we have to live and die with him down the stretch. The Fiers situation is the interesting case. We need him to win games, he's older, and he doesn't throw particularly hard so there may be a little leeway. If we were out of it he's probably already shut down, but we might have to go with the risk and just be smart about limiting his pitch counts.
  6. Agree with this philosophy. In addition to Estrada, throw in Narveson to compete for a spot. Burgos may even be a mid-season option at the rate he's progressing. It's a lot of unproven young arms, but I'm just not so sure we have good reason to pay for a veteran starter with a couple rotation spots unproven and the bullpen a complete unknown; I'd rather wait until 2014 unless the belief in July is that a good starter is all that's keeping the team from the playoffs.
  7. I would feel good about that. It stretches a little more that you'd say was "ideal", but I think a little is fine due to him being older and not being someone who throws particularly hard. Good to know they won't be reckless and there will be a limit, probably in that 160-170 range.
  8. Well like they say, when you have this many options for who to bring up you really don't have any.
  9. Agree, when you look at the ten criteria that are supposed to be measured it's a joke that he had Miller Park at 24. If he got off his butt to see the food and beer selection, it's very impressive and better than most parks. For the price category, MP is always ranked among the best values in baseball. And I don't see how it wouldn't rank at the very top of the transportation category given the accessible location, ample lots for parking and tailgating, the in-city buses that run to the park, and that Milwaukee is ranked the first or second best major city for traffic flow. The only two categories it seems to lack are architecture and history.
  10. Yep. From the game recap: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/gametracker/recap/MLB_20120616_MIL@MIN
  11. Tweets are saying that Nelson...er Conrad, was optioned. Wasn't aware he could be optioned.
  12. Would agree that it would be great to have baseball in NC. Not much besides the occasional Braves fan and random team fans from the many transplants in the area. There's a good amount of minor league activity, just hard to tell if the area is baseball-starved or not able to support baseball. Charlotte just approved a new stadium for its AAA team which was a really contentious issue, not sure they're ready for the MLB team in the near future. Can't see a move of a significant distance from the A's though. If they move at all I think the close move to Portland is the safe bet.
  13. Agree. If we're looking to replace the washed up AAA pitchers, no need to replace the with more washed up AAA pitchers. Thornburg is plenty ready to move up.
  14. Loe threw seven pitches and we replaced him? Guess we were just ready to go home, putting in the human white flag and all
  15. Would also like for us to try to make a bold move with Bianchi and see what happens - send him back down after a month or so if he is completely lost and there's nothing lost over what we have now. Though I expect to see more of the usual over-caution and it'll be three more years until we see him even if he keeps producing in the minors. Wouldn't even mind seeing Yuni at this point. I don't think the Royals would want more than a buck fifty for him, but it looks like it'll be a good two weeks until that remote possibility could happen since he also just landed on the DL with an ankle sprain.
