  1. Maybe they're just going to re-enact the NLCS clinching game instead of playing tonight. Can't wait for next year's 41st anniversary celebrations.
  2. Wait, so Reetz isn't up and really was just added to the 40 and optioned? Did he have an opt-out that they needed to avoid or something?
  3. Calling it - Frelick will be the 2023 NL ROY. IF he doesn't force a call-up really soon and lose eligibility.
  4. Yep, Stearns laid out this philosophy a few times, most recently after the trade. Baseball's playoffs are practically a crapshoot. Look no further than the '19 Nationals for that. Perhaps even more so now that they're letting anyone halfway decent in. Get a ticket for every raffle and you've got a chance to to win each time. I think there's a balance. The rebounds after a rebuild with new players emerging and winning when you don't expect to is very fun. Part of it is probably roster construction - less than being "tired of winning", I've said before that the only players I would pay to see on this roster are Burnes and Peralta. But that would change if some of the guys in the Nashville lineup emerge next year.
  5. I'm more eager to see what Reetz can do. If Omar is out a couple weeks and with roster expansion, he's in line to get a fair audition for next year.
  6. Despite being listed as active, Jackson hasn't played since July 16. This coincides with his rehab assignment in Nashville ending and being optioned. So something is up there. Feliciano has been adequate offensively, but showing very little power. Subpar defensively. I was hoping for Reetz.
  7. Jackson hasn't even played for Nashville after his rehab assignment ended despite being active. Not sure what's going on there. So I guess it would be Feliciano, unless they suddenly do something interesting and go with Reetz.
  8. Stearns just penciled in a trade of Lauer and Weimer for Nelson Cruz during the winter meetings.
  9. McGee got two ground balls. Results in a run scored and a man on third. ?‍♂️
  10. Nice little chat with Hader. Trying to adjust to seeing him with that hat. Also confirmed he was tipping a few weeks ago.
  11. Given Bush was at the park, in the bullpen, but not activated yesterday makes me think they still hadn't figured out what they were doing. I'm not certain McGee wasn't pitching for his job, and Milner to not be sent to AAA had they not both had great innings. I predict Suter or Gott will get a Phantom IL stint when they're ready to activate Cousins, making the big leap and assuming no one gets hurt for realsies.
  12. Hiura should never have been sent down to maintain the three catcher shenanigans. Lamet should never have been acquired. If "balance" was required, we could have just picked up part of Hader's salary. That Lamet was active and in uniform while Bush was at the park and inactive last night just makes Stearns look silly. These two things have now been corrected with these moves, but sheesh.
  13. Also don't get it. He has good stuff and might be good someday is an odd play when he's already 30 and for a contending team in August. It was the profile of Angel Perdomo, who we just DFA'd. Strange to me that he's going to take up a roster spot while Luis Perdomo was just optioned after a solid rehab assignment, Strzlecki is optioned tomorrow, Gott or McGee may be DFA'd, and Cousins could be ready to return as soon as next week.
  14. Given the roster crunch that's been created, it's almost perverse that McGee might have saved himself from a DFA and Milner is out here pitching lights out to try not to be optioned or Phantom IL'd tomorrow. So it's Strzelecki optioned and either someone hits the IL or Gott DFA'd tomorrow?
  15. Good to see we're still doing the three catcher thing.
  16. I've had enough of Gamel being an All-Star against us and reverting to his AAAA self against everyone else.
  17. Sal Frelick 2-2 in the leadoff spot in his AAA debut. Our impact bat is coming! *In 2023.
  18. Positives: Risk aversion on Hader and his contract situation, didn't give up any of the outfielders making their AAA debuts tonight or Turang, bad MiLB pitching pipeline ever so slightly improved, philosophically I agree with Stearns that the playoffs are a crapshoot and getting the most chances is the best path to winning a WS. Negatives: Gaslit from Stearns about not needing lineup upgrades based on a good last week, after all the noise I still consider the bullpen coming out of this to be worse (which means the MLB roster is worse), finished with the "trade for the sake of making a trade" I hoped to avoid, poor signaling to fans in a year where our attendance ranking is down due to what I believe is a lack of excitement/entertainment. Grade: D+ Can't move downward from here. Can improve if Ruiz turns out to be really good (+bonus if it's at 2B) or Gasser becomes a mid rotation starter.
  19. Rosenthal innings pitched over the past five seasons: 2018: 0 2019: 15.1 2020: 23.2 2021: 0 2022: 0 August status: unavailable Mike Brosseau innings pitched over the past five seasons: 2018: 0 2019: 4.0 2020: 0.1 2021: 0 2022: 3.0 August status: available in 7+ run deficits or 10+ run leads This warranted giving up more than a bag of baseballs? ?
