  1. Yep. I'm surprised the Pirates haven't actually tried moving him to an AL team to be a DH. he was so bad last year on the field and at bat, no one was going to bite on him, he was on the block this past winter. he was going to command too much money for not enough production at a DH/1B position. they dont have any internal 1B options, either, which is why they signed Hart and havent traded Pedro this year. If he gets moved, it'll be in the winter.
  2. OTL reports, literally, outside of the lines. They have no problem violating HIPPA privacy concerning players/individual medical information, they will do whatever it takes to get that story out before anyone else.
  3. games like last night tarnish my opinion of the pirates... I mean, come on. http://dkonpittsburghsports.com/2015/06/20/pirates-unhappy-unapologetic-after-no-hitter/
  4. http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/06/18/jeff-luhnow-cardinals-astros-hacking-scandal “That’s absolutely false,” said Luhnow, who worked as a technology executive before he began his career in baseball. “I absolutely know about password hygiene and best practices. I’m certainly aware of how important passwords are, as well as of the importance of keeping them updated. A lot of my job in baseball, as it was in high tech, is to make sure that intellectual property is protected. I take that seriously and hold myself and those who work for me to a very high standard.”
  5. amen. up to 5 years per access. I forget the dollar amount, but its also per access. So it all depends how many times they entered the database
  6. keeping/losing Wang is no big deal, having him on our roster from April - June was not why the Brewers tanked in August and September, and its not like him being on the roster the first part of the season mattered since we were killing it anyways. If anything, I blame Melvin for demoting him, clearly the team went to hell when they no longer had the WCWs to look forward too.
  7. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-legal-implications-of-the-cardinals-alleged-hacking/ fangraphs put all the fed legal issues in play, and below is what the Commish/MLB will have to play with: In the case of conduct by Major League Clubs, owners, officers, employees or players that is deemed by the Commissioner not to be in the best interests of Baseball, punitive action by the Commissioner for each offense may include any one or more of the following: (a) a reprimand; (b) deprivation of a Major League Club of representation in Major League Meetings; © suspension or removal of any owner, officer or employee of a Major League Club; (d) temporary or permanent ineligibility of a player; (e) a fine, not to exceed $2,000,000 in the case of a Major League Club, not to exceed $500,000 in the case of an owner, officer or employee, and in an amount consistent with the then-current Basic Agreement with the Major League Baseball Players Association, in the case of a player; (f) loss of the benefit of any or all of the Major League Rules, including but not limited to the denial or transfer of player selection rights provided by Major League Rules 4 and 5; and (g) such other actions as the Commissioner may deem appropriate.
  8. yup, they dropped to 7th place the following year and didnt make the pennant for another 15 seasons. also, anyone else kind of surprised that Levy didnt break the news on OTL?
  9. well MLB will enforce penalties on top of criminal penalties, so it could really hurt the franchise. There are two separate punishments that will come from this
  10. nothing like having two different scouting reports to work with when doing pretty much anything in baseball... wonder how MLB will punish the Cardinals
  11. They will not move Alvarez back to 3B. No way is that happening. He's a 1B for the rest of his time in Pittsburgh.
  12. Black'ish is hilarious
  13. That's what the game has become? Where "fans" want utter failure to enhance draft position? That's what I hate about the NBA. You'd think that in baseball where the draft is still a big crapshoot, and summers watching complete ineptitude are so depressing that fans wouldn't be like that. The Brewers no longer have the worst record in baseball, because news flash, they aren't the worst team in baseball. The longer the season goes, the more a team's record is reflective of a team's strength. It's become fashionable around the game to say "Brewers suck". Just heard Gordon Wittenmeyer of the Chicago Tribune say that on Chicago radio this morning. He's wrong. I've seen a lot of worse Brewer teams in my day. A lot. A lot of people were saying the "Brewers suck" in 1991 too when that team was 43-60 in early August. But they still had a very good roster. They could have easily traded off a lot of talent that year but they held on to it, and finished incredibly strong, winning 40 of their last 59 games and that was followed up by an exciting 1992 season. This team's roster is still decent. Maybe not on the level of the 91 team, but for a variety of reasons, most notably a 2-13 start and a rash of injuries, they haven't played anywhere near the level they are capable of, yet. I said pretty much the same thing in another thread but it got shrugged off as "well they're still in last place so they're the worst team". Brewers have been 18 - 21 since May 1st, but because they lost 17 games in April, no one cares about how they've been since then (which is much better than their April record "shows"). If the Brewers end up with a top 10 pick thats still great. I want the team to win games, I dont want them to lay down, and im certainly not going to be upset if we end up getting closer to .500 because they win games.
  14. Gotta see how jungmann fairs against the nationals at home.
  15. Having mlb / all star caliber defense has helped jungmann. Segura, gomez, rami all have had plays this game that probably saved a couple runs.
  16. Problem is cutch can turn fast on inside pitches, and roped that same curve for a double in the corner
  17. Man that inside curve is just haaanging in the middle of the strike box
