  1. a 5-4 record with a 4.04 ERA in nine starts for Triple-A is pretty impressive considering how bad they've been. Excited to listen to tonight's game after watching game of thrones.
  2. not just at SS, but also 2B, too. I dont think its far fetched at all to see an IF of Segura, Sardinas, Arcia with whoever at 1B in the next year or so.
  3. HERES SOMETING TO CHEW ON.... April - 5 Wins. May - 12 Wins. June - 17 WINS?!!?! DOUBLE DOUBLE THE NL IS IN TROUBLE!!!!! 17th win won in the 17th inning by the only player to catch 17 innings and have a walk off home run! After having lost 17 games in April and 17 games in May! 17 EVERYWHERE! TIME TO GO 17-11 IN JUNE! (or 11-17, im okay with taking for #1 next summer!!!)
  4. Even amid rumors that the Sounds were poised to drop the Brewers for a partnership with the Oakland A's, Melvin heard the same. He says the Brewers offered to play preseason exhibition games in Nashville, and even to invest in the club if it helped move the sides toward an extension of their PDC. Those overtures were declined without explanation, according to Melvin. He says he asked Sounds ownership three weeks ago, "If you're leaning toward not having us, just give us a heads up so we don't lose out on something else." "There was one out there that we would have liked to have gone to, we might have been able to go to," Melvin said, "and now we lost out on it." http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/95157658/brewers-general-manager-doug-melvin-miffed-by-breakup-with-triple-a-affiliate I'm just going back to a post I made on this back in September. The Brewers did this to themselves by giving Nashville terrible teams, teams that were so bad they no longer wanted to affiliate with the Brewers. Melvin also said they had opportunities to leave Nashville but stayed in the hopes that Nashville would be able to get a new stadium and want the Brewers to be apart of it. That's an error in judgment on the Brewers' part. Instead of getting out and getting into a vastly superior situation earlier, they ended up in again some of the worst facilities in the PCL and they have no one to blame but themselves. The point of owning an MLB Franchise is not to provide good minor league teams, its to provide opportunities for players to develop. Nashville was terrible for many years BECAUSE the MLB team was succeeding (due to trading top AA/AAA talent away at the time). The Brewers shouldnt feel obligated to any city to make sure they provide them a winning team, their goal is to provide MILWAUKEE a winning team.
  5. As long as we all agree no schafer...
  6. Did he tear his acl/mcl? Please dont call up logan

  8. No, the typical move would have been to move blazek to the rotation and call up a 6 year MiLB reliever to fill in the pen
  9. I am into that
  10. Solid! Thornberg probably isnt stretched out enough, glad to see them reaching past the closest available arm to fill a spot in the rotation
  11. Wow wonder why theyre freeing up the roster spots
  12. and lets not forget, no one was supposed to know about the failed test or the appeal in the first place. so had the privacy of player medical information been kept, the only time anyone would have known about Braun would have been when the Biogenesis case busted open... but what do you expect from a group who report under the umbrella of "outside the lines". just staying true to their name, I guess
  13. Are we seriously going to keep rehashing this argument over and over again in various threads. The Brewers did this in the early/mid 2000's (drafted and developed a core of young players). They had Fielder, Weeks, Braun, Hart, etc. However they had no pitching. By the time they waited for their system to develop pitching, they would have lost other components to free agency. Also, not every prospect that is drafted is gold, many don't pan out (even the "can't miss" guys). You say "augment" the system with the occasional Veteran. How should they have "augmented" their pitching staffs in 2008 and 2011 without trading away prospects? They are not a team that is going to compete in the FA market for pitching arms like Grienke and Sabathia. Name a pitcher, other than Gallardo, in the Brewers system between 2006 and the present that was going to help them get to the playoffs the way Grienke and Sabathia did? To me, under your plan, it seems like would be competitive every year...but just always miss the playoffs because we are missing key components because we are unwilling to make the necessary trades. Yes, all those former Brewers you mention on one team sound like a great team, but if you think the Brewers have the payroll flexibility to keep all of those guys together you are fooling yourself. If I'm calculating correctly, the combined 2015 salary of just those players is $54 million and growing and again, just one pitcher in the bunch and 4 outfielders (where do Braun and Gomez play??). Also, we didn't offer Fielder enough?? We should have offered the $24Mil per year that he's currently making? Funny how over the last two seasons everyone was thankful how we dodged a bullet with Fielder and now that he's having a good year, we should have offered him more. Ah, the power of hindsight. I'm all for rebuilding for tomorrow, but when tomorrow comes, you have to go for it. You can't endlessly build for tomorrow without the willingness to trade of those "tomorrow" pieces for today. my thoughts exactly, great post!
  14. lets not forget the path Cruz took to get to the Majors... he was traded two times prior to Milwaukee's trade http://disciplesofuecker.com/the-history-of-nelson-cruz
  15. it sure would have been nice to have kept only the good players and traded/let go all of the bad players.
  16. Nick Kingham just had TJ surgery, so you can count him out of Pirates prospects to get.
  17. he lied because his appeal case was based on him not having used and the mishandling of the cup o urine. had he not won his appeal I doubt he would have lied, but, he won, and had to continue with the story because of it. If he came out after he won his appeal that he had infact used, he would have been suspended immediately, and probably longer than the 50-game suspension he was looking at in the first place.
  18. well they did trade Axford at his low point in his career for Blazek, who has turned out to be a pretty alright arm. I am not too worked about Lind's struggles in May
  19. use the quote function instead of italicized, its MUCH easier to read. [qu0te][/qu0te]
