  1. Kang hasnt been tearing it up the last 30 games in terms of production anyhow
  2. Thank you. Really weird thread. I'm here for Baseball observations & insights The Pirates have struggled this year and have started to put things together and this could be a big distraction for them. They cannot afford to lose this player as I stated above, I rather disagree that losing Kang would be that big of a loss. as it relates to the diamond, if Kang is removed from the team, they have options at 3B on the MLB roster. Freese has been hitting well, which would pull him off of 1B platooning with Jaso. If that happens I could see the Pirates force their hand to call up Bell at 1B who is only 23 and just mashing it in AAA. take Kang out and your infield looks like 1B- Jaso/Freese/Bell 2B - Harrison/Rodriguez/Frazier SS - Mercer/Rodriguez/Frazier 3B - Freese/Harrison
  3. I don't think I have ever agreed with anything you have ever said. Until today. I agree 100% and well said.
  4. local writer believes accuser and will let the facts change his opinion. http://www.timesonline.com/columnists/sports/chris_mueller/mueller-sports-hold-double-standard-over-sexual-assault/article_32f4f35a-4319-11e6-a667-5fcff5c6618b.html
  5. its hard to have not already formed an opinion about this situation. Living in Pittsburgh there have been radio shows already saying he's "innocent until proven guilty", which is pretty awful since the rate of actual conviction of sexual assault/rape is extremely low. There are so many various reasons why the victim would not press charges, or drop them before trial, to avoid having to relive the act in-front of a jury, and be made part of public record. So if you are only operating on well if he's found guilty, then screw him, but if he's not, well it was all a misunderstanding I think you need to read the page below. (data pulled below from DOJ website) More to come on the investigation, but its tough to look at this without having some form of an opinion/conclusion. https://www.rainn.org/statistics/criminal-justice-system as it relates to the diamond, if Kang is removed from the team, they have options at 3B on the MLB roster. 6. Probably nothing because he was pretty bad at Miller park
  7. Congrats to the national cubs and friends
  8. Yikes.. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/police-investigating-sexual-assault-claim-against-jung-ho-kang.html
  9. I think its also incredible important to point out that literally everyone is still in arbiration years outside of Braun, Garza, Hill and Lucroy (ignoring Cappy, 'natch). This is a heavily controlled team going forward, so anyone being traded is going to be someone with years left before FA. I fully support Stearns getting even more controllable pieces this summer, but its not like we have a plethora of pending FA's to trade off before losing them
  10. also, if he's terrible, who cares, don't most of you want to lose to get a better draft pick next summer? doesn't that help the "rebuild"?
  11. since May 1st he's hitting .305/.555/.884 with 38Runs 21 doubles, 10 HRs and 45 RBIs. his splits between home/away are bad, but who cares, his overall body of work warrants him to come up and fill a spot for a guy who has had 8 hits, especially with the risk of losing him.
  12. 48 hits in AAA, 3 doubles, 0 triples, 2 HRs. lol
  13. Hobbs was released??? I loved his name.
  14. Erceg has had a hot start in Helena, and looking at high-A they could use a 3B, so i'd almost think moving him up there and let Gatewood stay in Wisconsin to continue to develop if he continues to mash in Helena
  15. lets say they do renew, is this stadium any less of a pitchers paradise than the one they're leaving, or is that a trend at all of the stadiums in that league thanks to the climate?
  16. He gets full benefits and a pension for life for appearing in 1mlb game. That's maybe the biggest perk to milb players
  17. last 28 days Monte has been hitting .278/.533/.860, and just in the 14 games in June he's mashing .321/.679/1.059. Looks like he's starting to heat up like the weather!
  18. ya'll talk about the cardinals as a model the Brewers need to copy... but that wont happen because they have money for free agents. So they can afford to draft middle/late first round every year. you need to shift that conversation to the Pirates. traded off their "stars" for years for other teams prospects, tanked for top 5 picks year after year, and finally built a team/farm system that is budding with talent without the ability to spend tons of money in Free Agency (even though they could, Nutting is loaded but he's a cheapskate).
  19. So basically... the same players that could have gotten Carlos Gomez, except now the Brewers have to give up more.
  20. Seconded... Fourthed
  21. I'd much rather follow a team that wins more games than they lose.
  22. Webb is in ESPN pitching right now, so filthy
  23. Having 3 CF in the of is nice, pirates have 3 with mccutch, matte and polanco, really fun watching them play
