  1. I will miss Krod, I truly enjoyed watching him pitch
  2. I know, everyone talks about kimbrel and chapman trades and mever mention krod
  3. Hey everyone! It's Hot Stove season! Who ends up leaving? Or, who ends up staying? This is going to be a great winter! New GM? Younger than me? Interested in trades and drafting? I am 100% okay if this team fields a AAAA level team next year if the moves made put is in the realm of the Cubs/Pirates franchises. I am excited for the future, and I hope you all are too!!
  4. I think the issue is not how segura does at 2B, its finding someone who would actually trade for Gennett
  5. I feel bad for Lynn, but I dont feel bad for the cardinals organization at all.
  6. The money is taxpayer money and the U.S. government has an $18 trillion debt. It should not be spending it stealthily on patriotic displays. That's the big deal. Can't blame the Brewers for taking it, but the I certainly don't want my tax dollars wasted like that. 80,000 of 18,000,000,000,000 is such a microscopic dent in the national debt...there are far more costly DoD expenditures that make up our debt you could be upset over lol
  7. NHL had a long contract with Versus/NBC that basically aired games regularly on Versus and one game a week on NBC on Sundays? Now that NBC turned Versus into NBCSports Network, tyhe NHL has quiet a few more games on actual NBC broadcasts throughout the year. Its still not like any other league in terms of major network/cable broadcasts, but if you live in any NHL teams local network, you'll get every game that local team plays.
  8. also, better OF defense in the corners looks like its helped with some of those, too. way more corner flyouts in 2015 than 2014.
  9. that home run rate drop has to be because of park dimensions... which after going to fangraphs you can see the comparison from 2014 hits that were homers to 2015 hits that were outs instead of homers the year before. http://www.fangraphs.com/spraycharts.aspx?playerid=1118&position=P&type=battedball&pid2=1118&ss1=2014&se1=2014&ss2=2015&se2=2015&cht1=hittype&cht2=hittype&vs1=ALL&vs2=ALL
  10. NHL games are close to NBA in time-length, but are considerably shorter than MLB/NFL games. A quick google found: NBA - 2 hours, 20 minutes NHL - 2 hours, 30 minutes MLB - 2 hours, 50 minutes NFL - 3 hours, 15 minutes
  11. Im pretty sure that hes involved in player acquisitions, i doubt hoyer has full control over who stays and who goes
  12. I'm just happy for Estrada. I have a soft spot for guys like him who weren't born with a special gift in baseball, but slug through many years in the minors and eventually become a solid to good major league player. I became a Toronto fan even before the playoffs started and was happy to see Estrada come through with a huge start for them to keep the Blue Jays alive. He learned how to through an elite changeup and that's allowed him be good enough to start game three of the playoffs with an 88mph fastball. Me too. Its just amazing that a guy who pitched like it was batting practice is now 1 step away from the world series
  13. Aaaaaand Estrada is potentially starting game , of the ALCS
  14. Theo has to be the best gm in history considering what he did in boston and is doing in chicago
  15. I dont care what anyone thinks, but this is by FAR the best move CC can make. You have to put your own well-being before literally everything else. To pull yourself out of the biggest spot light at the brightest time of the year takes a lot, and I wish nothing but the best for CC going forward.
  16. you're right, it might matter, but Vancouver makes more sense than Montreal if you're also thinking about West coast teams vs East coast teams. Would a Mexican team be paid in Peso's, or US dollars? Would currency exchange rate play into it? I know it plays into the NHL quiet a bit, especially when discussing salary cap issues and what not.
  17. Why is Montreal the only Canadian option? Is it because of the Expos? I guess I dont understand why Vancouver wouldnt get a shot with an MLB team over Montreal. In the US, Charlotte and Vegas make the most sense to me. I mean, the freaking NHL has considered Vegas for expansion, how MLB has never tapped that market for a pro team surprises me. Charlotte makes sense because outside of Atlanta, there are no other MLB franchises near by. I have a lot of friends who live down there who go to college/MiLB games all the time in Charlotte region (heck, they drive 2 - 3 hours after work during the week sometimes), so I think it would be sustainable.
  18. I mean, Matt was handed a stacked team, they should have walked away with that division (especially considering how BAD Atlanta and Miami were), if not at least one of the Wild Card slots. I think ANY manager should be fired if they have a roster like that and completely implode down the stretch.
  19. the whole papelbon thing is much more than just what happened between machado/harper though. I said this to a friend back when they acquired him, but he's pretty much blown that team up in my mind. Nationals get him on 7/29 when they were still in first place. Since then they went 16 - 20, and have watched Storen just completely implode to the tune of a 7.56 ERA after being probably one of the best closers to that point with 29 saves and a 1.64 ERA prior to getting demoted for literally no justifiable reason. yes, the mets also got really hot on top of the nationals imploding, but I cannot imagine they'd be down by 9 games if they'd have left Storen in the closers role, and may not have gone 0-6 against the mets in August/September.
  20. top 7 here we come!
  21. Cant argue with it, no need to risk anything when this season is already done
  22. Stearns has been asst GM in Houston for how long?
  23. I didnt realize how close 3rd and 7th were in the standings, lol. Its clear that philly has #1 on lock, but Atlanta is only 3 ahead of us for #2 overall
