It’s really hard to measure these things but this experience these young arms are getting is second to none. Hader, Williams, Peralta, Burnes will all be better pitchers for getting these opportunities.
Good thing we have him next year too. Always love a GM that thinks down the road too. At nearly $10mil. At that price he better be hitting better than his career average.
Can’t manage all these games as if it’s lose or go home. Maybe the move would make more sense if our starter didn’t pitch only one inning yesterday but that happened. It affects the series. As does using Hader in this one. Tomorrow’s game will be very interesting when there’s no arms to turn to. We had a two run lead and Peralta just got a fly ball out. It was a panic move and it didn’t pay off at all.
Maybe he believes in Peralta, Burnes, a healthy Nelson, possibly Woodruff and doesn’t want to mortgage the future of the Brewers because they may or may not sneak into a wild card spot.
I wouldn’t of said a peep. After a starter went an inning last night he should have let Peralta go after Scooter and saved his bullets with a two run lead. If the inning went the way you think, Burnes can come in to bed the gap.
If Soria and Hader are giving up rockets what would you suggest he do? Tonight, didn’t need to go to the pen in the 5th. I’m even willing to guess Hader didn’t warm up that long. Players are the ones who need to come through but CC hasn’t put his team in a great position lately either.
Two game giving up 7 runs. One giving up 4. Otherwise 3 runs or less in the rest of his starts. “Couple” seems like the right word to me. He's also had many, many more opportunities than Woodruff for some reason. Gah I hate Scooter Gennett. 13 starts for Freddy. 12 for Woody plus 8 relief appearances.
