  1. Signing free agent pitchers at $15-$30 million a pop isn’t realistic. It’s why guys like Davies are so valuable. He puts up a stat line close to a healthy Cobb and Arrieta for a fraction of the cost.
  2. Peralta, Williams, Houser, Lopez, Diplan... It is highly unlikely that all five of these guys make a difference this year or next. We will be lucky to get two of this group. And while Knebel might be a regression candidate, he also might be the piece we need for this Brewers team to win a division or make the playoffs this year or next. I just can't see how selling him right now makes much sense in the short or even possibly the long-term scenarios for the Brewers. Maybe next off season, maybe.
  3. If this were a club still in the midst of a rebuild, I'd agree. But the moves they made this offseason are a strong counter to that philosophy. I can't see them trading their closer and a young cost-controlled starter. Subtraction by addition works when you have a surplus at a given position (i.e. outfield), but not when you are talking about the pitching staff. +1
  4. There are certain guys I will always make sure I am in my seat to watch hit a baseball. Ryan Braun is one of those guys. I get it. Trust me I get it. He needs to be more dependable in the lineup and I hope he is. But if he can figure out how to stay relatively healthy, he is a huge bat for us to have. And now from what I have seen from Yelich, he will be another one that I will want to be in my seat to watch swing a bat. So smooth. Effortless. Should be fun to watch these two plus Cain go at it for awhile.
  5. This is another one of those issues that I think we make more out of than Stearns/Counsell are right now. If Santana is still on this team opening day, they'll make it work.
  6. Age doesn’t matter for me. Get the right mixture and jump out of the gates hot and don’t look back. If that means Yo, Guerra or whoever fine with me. Just win baby! (I will admit I’m pulling for a Gallardo rebound. Would be a very cool story seeing him contribute to a winner)
  7. I hope they use those picks to get some offensive line depth.
  8. Your assessment makes a lot of sense. We had reports from Reilly and HH19 about the same time. Then the three-team trade happened and since then it's been silent.
  9. So so far we have had the following start or to be scheduled to start games this spring: Chacin Guerra Anderson Davies Suter Wilkerson Might give us some insight as to who has the inside track on rotation spots.
  10. I love your username and profile picture. Awesome stuff!
  11. Agreed on Ramirez that he could be a difference maker but not being on the 40 will hold him back from the first group of guys that will break camp and he probably won't get the first crack of being called up. He is going to need to put together another stellar beginning to the season to be in the mix by June/July.
  12. Well, I bet Clancy is happy they burned a year. (blue?)
  13. Someone was asking a simple question, your 2nd sentence is really unnecessary. It went from a question of if he's played to questioning if he's already hurt. Seems a bit much for a guy that never plays in the first week of spring training. And my second sentence really isn't that bad, so call off the attack dogs already.
  14. Plenty of vets don’t really do much the first week of ST. Move away from the ledge a bit.
  15. Looks like he will be a Blue Jay. Pending physical.
  16. Major League plate appearances... 147 Almost 2,000 plate appearances in the minors with an OPS of .900 He will be hitting the beginning of his prime this year. He will definitely be an interesting one to follow. Maybe, he could. More likely he's just a borderline major leaguer having a hot spring. Jesus Aguilar has a .800 OPS in 4,000 Minor League games.
  17. Major League plate appearances... 147 Almost 2,000 plate appearances in the minors with an OPS of .900 He will be hitting the beginning of his prime this year. He will definitely be an interesting one to follow.
  18. Burnes won’t break camp. It doesn’t make sense for the Brewers.
  19. Still upset he kicked Gennett to the curb I see.
  20. Ji-Man Choi can opt out of his agreement with the Brewers at the end of Spring Training as well as on June 15 (Link). So he is basically showcasing himself for every team in MLB this spring. Move Thames. Braun to 1B permanently and Choi to our bench. Would be alright with me.
  21. Does Choi have an opt out if he doesn’t make our roster? Might lose him if he does.
  22. He’s played in all three days. 4 for 6 with two walks, a double, a HR, and a couple RBI’s. So far he’s looked pretty good in the field too.
  23. It’ll be interesting to see what Shaw is this year. Could see a mid .700’s from him in the OPS category but could add middle to upper .800’s as well.
  24. Michigan State was just too good. Brad Davison is going to be a thorn in the sides of teams for another three years. Good effort today.
  25. $108 million is what I found on one site but sport trac had them at $135 million when they added over $20M in disabled list players. But I will say this, $25 million will come off the books after this season with Mauer no matter what. So if the Twins do go to $125, $20 comes off after the year automatically with Mauer after this season.
