  1. Let's please not go down the road of thinking a higher K rate pitcher is better than a lower K rate pitcher. Greg Maddux had a career 6.1 K/9. In an era when guys were puting the ball in play more.
  2. +1 And Perez is not Drury. Perez plays multiple positions well or he’d be out of the league. Drury will be turning 25 and might turn out to being a very good player.
  3. If he grades out well he would be an upgrade.
  4. Doesn’t the trade open up a Walker to Dbacks possibility?
  5. Brent Honeywell just tweeted: “What is this?”
  6. Maybe the front office doesn't feel as though Aguilar is a realistic repeat of that performance. Maybe they view Thames in a similar fashion?
  7. Sorry but AAAA guys don't steal 20 bags and hit 20 bombs in partial seasons. He may not be a starter for us but that doesn't mean he can't be elsewhere.
  8. Now we are debating who cares about topics. Good stuff. Just turn off the forums until opening day when the dust has settled and we are ready to start kicking some rear-end in the NL Central.
  9. Annnnnnnd we are jumping to conclusions again. How would you explain it then? Braun or Santana ARE NOT becoming bench players... Both will be in the everyday lineup. There is nothing to explain. NOTHING has happened yet. See I can use caps too.
  10. The last two games: 1 for 7 vs. Purdue 1 for 8 vs. Minnesota Not trending the right direction but overall on the season its been good.
  11. Then Braun must be being moving to 1b full time... Which is great, keeps Braun's and Santana's bat in the lineup. Annnnnnnd we are jumping to conclusions again.
  12. HH19 now says Aguilar and Broxton being shopped. Phillips offers being listened to. So like before, it doesn't have to be Santana on the move to make this work.
  13. What if its Broxton/Thames? Broxton/Phillips? Phillips/Broxton? We jump to way too many damn conclusions around here with so little information.
  14. Yes, Santana is the only one worth talking on. Broxton isnt gonna get us anything. Okay? It still could be what is exactly happening.
  15. HH just claimed the chances of a Santana trade dropped to zero. Your source must know something HH source doesnt? You do know that other players not named Santana can be traded right?
  16. I'm a big Villar backer as I believe the 2016 player is somewhere in there but if not, and Arica doesn't take the next step, and Pina regresses, our bottom half.... whoof. (as it stands now)
  17. Maybe Braun made a great scoop during practice today.
  18. To be honest, I skim through most of the posts because it is been hashed out so much now that it is mostly repeated information. I do agree that I think one of these two will be Brewers by the middle of Spring Training.
  19. I am really confused by why having so many good players is a "mess". I mean, I get it that playing time will be harder for Counsell to do but it is a great problem to have. Phillips and Broxton can go get better at AAA, Aguilar can go try to find a different home or accept a AAA assignment, and Thame can become a great bench bat for us. And guys like Sogard and Perez? The minute they aren't Brewers I will probably forget that they even exist.
  20. If we can get Cobb for $16-18M per year for 4 years, I think he has an opportunity to earn that contract if he is able to get his changeup back to what it was. I really think Arrieta will be toast in two seasons, if that. I just do not feel comfortable with him at all.
  21. The thing is, if they don't do it now, their options will likely be equally risky players in the next 2 years. Gotta take the leap at some point. I get that it could rule out getting maybe a safer pitcher via trade at a certain point, but if it's someone like Archer or Stroman, they can probably find a way to shed a bit of salary if they really, really need to. I'll live with minimal flexibility the next 3 years. The only way it backfires is if the other 24 players look very good but Arrieta is a bust. We're taking a 3 year shot here and I'd rather have our farm system waiting on the other side if it fails (i.e. not trading for Archer). I would rather take a leap on the cheaper, less year (hopefully) option in Cobb. I just don't see how in any way that Arrieta earns his contract moving forward. Too many indicators pointing in the wrong direction for this guy to get the money and length of contract from a franchise like the Brewers. Hopefully, Philly outbids us.
  22. No one is missing Sogard.
  23. I hope they don't push the payroll to the max for a guy like Arrieta. It will leave us absolutely no room if/when he stinks in a couple of years, heck maybe even next year.
  24. Even with the Martinez signing the Red Sox lineup still isn't great. It will be interesting to see if they get the pitching they did a year ago.
  25. If you didn’t watch tonight’s border battle I feel sorry for you. What a great win for this young Badgers team. 22-5 run to close it out in a 10 point win in OT. And I don’t think Happ even got double digits in scoring. Glad I recorded this one. Secured a first round bye into B10 tourney too.
