  1. I’m so confused on why you care so much about this signing?
  2. Say we sign Cobb Anderson Cobb Davies Chacin Woodruff Who you kicking out to try to find out if Ordorizzi is any good? The guy wasn’t a good pitcher the last couple years and for all the flack Suter gets, he probably wouldn’t out pitch this guy as our #5.
  3. I’m hoping we stick with Gallardo and he wins 12-15 games this season while costing us $2 million. In Johnson I trust.
  4. Agreed. I think it might increase the chance. Could have a real nice rotation by adding one of those two.
  5. Me either. I don’t see why anyone would actually want him.
  6. I assume this is from Jeff Passan on Twitter. His next tweet states that the Twins have interest in Odorizzi. This could mean one fewer option for the Brewers. It will be interesting what the Twins are giving up. They don't have much in the minors, except the shortstop Gordon. Gordon and Max Kepler for Odorizzi and Dickerson, perhaps? It’s a done deal... Palacios(SS) is apart of the package heading back to Tampa.
  7. Heck yes. One less bum we won’t be wasting prospects on.
  8. Twins and Rays have a trade in place.
  9. I find it refreshing sometimes that they show that they are human. After being in the league for awhile it is human to get in those ruts. Some guys never get out of them. Sounds like he realizes what he was doing wasn’t good enough and is trying to right the ship. Could be a good thing for some players to hear.
  10. If Dickerson wasn’t limited to LF, he would be a good pickup.
  11. Yeah because our catching department really needs that mid .600’s OPS in the 7th hole of our lineup.
  12. Just to point out how ridiculous 110 wins is, they'd have to go over .500 against the other 8 "good teams" to win 110. Assuming, of course, that they went 58-0 against those 6. Oh stop being so dramatic. We are talking about the Cubs and their dynasty here.
  13. The NL routinely has a 20-30 game disadvantage in interleague play. It's mostly due to average market size. If you don't realize the NL is kind of mediocre, it's probably because they play each other so often and somebody has to win. If you look at most NL teams' improvements this year, they merely came at the expense of other NL teams. Santana and Cain did switch to the NL, but then you have Stanton going to the Yankees and Cole to the Astros. I think the talent gap increased a little. I also think the Brewers, Cardinals, and Rockies were pretty lucky to do what they did last year, and weren't really that good. The NL is top-heavy, sure, but that's precisely what I'm saying. The teams at the top have a chance to have skewed win totals because of the mediocrity in the rest of the league. The NL had more teams over .500 a year ago than the AL. Top heavy? That’s they AL as like 2-3 teams are stacked and the rest, are just eh. Opinions are like.... okay let’s get back to Cobb.
  14. Not sure where this NL is mediocre talk began but it’s far from true.
  15. Gallardo's $2 million shouldn't stop us from doing anything we want to do. We should be able to afford Luc at $6-8M over two if that is what he dropped to. Almost silly not to do it really when you think about it. Unless he really wasn't liked while there or did leave on some bad terms.
  16. Nostalgic ex-brewer love. Happens all the time... Spare me. Lucroy would be an upgrade over Vogt. That's all this really comes down to.
  17. Vogt has a track record of being a pretty good hitter and it is possible that his numbers looked worse in Oakland. I'm not disagreeing that I'm a fan of Pina and he should be the guy. Plays good defense, but I'm more confident in Vogt's bat than I am Pina's. I'm OK with rolling with the platoon where Pina is still the primary guy but Vogt's days that he gets off are against RHP. From the sounds of it by Counsell, Vogt is going to have to prove that he can play some better defense than he displayed last season. And he should. It was downright awful watching him back there. Not Susac bad, but just bad.
  18. McCalvy tweets quote on catching situation.
  19. If another catcher (Lucroy) were to be signed, Vogt would be the one on his way out and I'm not even sure it is questionable. They have Bandy on the 40-man as their 3rd catcher that can fill in for short stints if need be.
  20. Have a strong feeling that number is way low. Very possible but I just used what was predicted on the MLB link on the remaining free agents thread.
  21. FA Signings: 1. Sign Cobb: 4/$48 2. Sign Lucroy: 2/$16 3. Sign Walker: 2/$26 *This would add roughly $28M to this year's salaries putting them right around the $105-$110 mark. I believe this would still allow them to be a move come July if they have a hole needing to be upgraded. Trades/Releases: 1. Trade Sogard or Villar, assign him to AAA in case of an injury if he would accept, or release him. *Saves $2.4M 2. Trade Thames *Saves $5M this year and future years 3. Vogt released *Saves $3.6M Total Saved: $11M Rotation: 1. Nelson when healthy 1. Anderson 2. Cobb 3. Davies 4. Chacin 5. Woodruff Pen: Knebel, Hader, Albers, Barnes, Jeffress, Suter, Logan, Gallardo (Williams, Guerra(stretch out for SP?) to AAA) Lineup: 1. Cain- CF 2. Yelich- LF 3. Braun- 1B 4. Shaw- 3B 5. Santana- RF 6. Walker- 2B 7. Lucroy/Pina- C 8. Arcia- SS Bench: Phillips-OF, Perez-IF/OF, Villar or Sogard-IF, Pina/Lucroy-C,
  22. They would probably set a record for most strikeouts in a season combined.
  23. I can't imagine not even having Pina on the 25 after a very nice rookie season anyway. That seems downright insulting. You can't imagine him not regressing? Okay. A lot of people here seem to think whatever a player did last year is more important than what they did in about a decade in the minor leagues, and if that's your premise, nobody's ever going to convince you otherwise. In your original post, you don't even mention Pina, let alone him being a regression candidate. And even if you believe that, how does putting him in the minor leagues again a viable way to see if he is or not? At some point, you have to see what you have in these players. Even if he is a regression candidate offensively, does that mean he is defensively as well? I think adambr2 has a very valid point that it would not be a great look for the Brewers to toss a guy in the minors after the season he had last year. Now, bringing in someone like Lucroy or whoever to compete with Pina for playing time is a completely different story. For how worried you are about regression with the Brewers players, you sure seem to think a team like the Cubs won't have any if they are winning 110 games this season.
  24. Vogt has the knees of Jake Taylor and throws like Rube Baker. Pina shouldn't be going anywhere. If we get the opportunity to get Luc at a great deal, awesome, go do it and make Pina your #2 that plays a bit more than a #2. You would solidify that catching position for this year and you hope that Luc and Pina can be a great duo for the next couple of seasons.
