Agreed. He and Barnes could be the 7th/8th inning men depending on the matchups and we may have something resembling a bullpen. Also if we trade for him right now, if we stink come July 31st we can trade him somewhere else. He's 36 and a FA after the season. What do you propose we give up to acquire him Maybe someone in the 30-40 ranking of our prospects? Anyone have any comps of a guy like this being traded? Contract is worth $6.5m I believe so someone would be on the hook for about $4m of it.

And I think they are still trying to determine that. If they were sure he is a placeholder they would have called up a Sky Sox OFer to replace him by now as there would be no reason not to at this point. If Brinson was hitting at all away from CS it would've been a no doubter by now. Can't force a guy up who may not be ready. Good thing Kirk wasn't on this team right now or we would be seeing plenty of him in CF.

Broxton is not Gomez or Cameron so can we just stop with those comparisons already? He's a place holder. For me, his cold streaks outweigh his hot streaks. He just swings and misses way too much. People jumped the gun on the guy a bit. Was he a part of an awesome trade for Stearns, sure. But we are definitely trying to make him into something that he is not.

I guess we see what we want to see. Just saying though that there's no 100% in anything.

As silly as it may seem, that's what they are going to do. Anything Stearns or the organization says can be taken with a grain of salt. Most of the starters in the Brewers organization are going to end up as relievers. I just wonder how many innings Hader will get in the Brewers bullpen this year. Do you have some inside information to back that claim up? Nothing reported has really been to what you are saying.

2 weeks ago Broxton had an .800 OPS (271/329/471). You don't bench a guy and bring up a prospect because of two bad weeks. In his last 28 days he's OPS'ing .601. It's more than a two week slump and he's not playing great defense to go with it. We have guys ready to go and that are supposed to be good players. What's the hold up? Especially in left field. If it's a Aguilar/Thames thing. Trade Aguilar or put him back to pinch hitting, spot start duties

My thoughts exactly! Came on here to say the same thing. I don't understand why they insist on multiple innings from him. Of course today that made sense with the short start, but they do it all the time. Why bother making him the long man? Yep and without looking up all his appearances from the pen I'd be willing to guess most if not all his runs have come in the second inning of work. Just put him as the 6th or 7th inning man and see if you have something with him. Doing what they are doing is just dumb.

With no time table on Braun's return, send down Broxton and DFA Franklin. Call up Brinson and Phillips and have a little fun. Whoever is struggling upon Braun's return, send em back to AAA for more work.

Why can't we just have Wily be a one inning man? Why does Counsell insist on multiple innings from him? Man, just let the guy go out and get three outs and use him in a spot he may actually succeed in. Stupid managing. When he is finally DFA'd, some manager will and he'll be alright.

Both of these teams have had the opportunity to really extend leads and so far neither has come through.
