  1. Judging a guy who still hasn't been out GM for a year yet is probably not needed. It's going to take time, years, for anyone to have a fair assessment on what he's done.
  2. Mariners have blown the most saves in the AL. Maybe they should be looking at our pen for help.
  3. They might be a dime a dozen but when a bullpen blows up, it can take down a team. That's what happened to Brewers in 2012. Yeah Fielder was gone, but Ramirez had a terrific year, Bruan was at the top of his game, Gomez was emerging and Lucroy and Maldonado combined were terrific and Hart was very productive after move to 1B. But Axford, Rodriguez, Veras, and Parra were terrible. That team should have been a playoff team. They won 83 but bullpen was historically bad. With an average pen, they win 90+ even after dealing Grienke. The pen was combined a -7.1 WAR, by far the worst in the NL. That 2012 year ticks ya right off. We don't get many windows to have teams like that and our pen completely ruined it.
  4. I wonder how long Braun is going to play. Saying stuff like; "It's harder than ever to be on the road away from family."
  5. Could be something Stearns is learning from Doug Melvin. Keep the cards close to the vest.
  6. I think it's very scary to try to map out so far in advanced what your team might look like or what moves to make. I hope Stearns isn't doing this. I hope he is trying, and it feels like he is, to acquire the best players he can at any age or stage of their careers while using a budget that works for the Milwaukee Brewers.
  7. I'm sure it'll be a set of completely different players than anyone has mentioned. As long and as much as we've discussed this, not too much originality with players proposed.
  8. Used to live in Gordon BTW, minor quibble from earlier in thread, but it's Mellen, not Melon. Superior kid here. Just visited up there too. On the lake end, Devils Lake near the Dells was always a good time.
  9. Understandable why they went the Rodney route then.
  10. Me too. He was a steady player this year minus the slow start. He would be a very nice player to have on a team that was competing for a division/playoff run.
  11. Someone who is just barely over 100 innings pitched in their MLB career doesn't quite qualify to me as a player who is definitely here for the long haul. We've see good things but it's far from etched in stone. It's not like they pulled this move with let's say, Jimmy Nelson.
  12. I guess why does it matter? Maybe I'm missing the point but he will be back up in 10 days. Ina not like they pulled this move with a bonified player.
  13. Is there someone at your workplace with the job description of actively working with the goal of making you perform poorly at your job? Every athlete does. Also, do you want athletes to compete for your team with the goal of winning? Or do you want them to be only concerned with their own, individual performance because their job depends on it? Limiting salary based on performance is a good way to make sure athletes look out for themselves above team, and I wouldn't blame them one bit for it. Or how about we go the NFL model where teams can cut players at any point and not pay the rest of their contract? Spring Training holdouts for all! I get the sentiment, but there are a number of reasons this approach would actually be detrimental. The NFL operates just fine by doing it.
  14. Thanks. I'm well aware of the current system and how it got to be. Doesn't mean that it can never change. Although I'm sure it will never go back now.
  15. I hope this is a joke. Why? If I don't do my job well, I won't have it. Why are these athletes any different?
  16. Not sure how anyone can be upset with this draft. We got prospects who seem to have high ceilings and we actually signed them.
  17. There should be a panel the MLB has so that if you pay a guy a large salary and they don't live up to it that you can cut the guy and not pay him or that there would be some percentage of a buyout.
  18. ' It says on the MLB site that voting goes through 4PM EST on Friday???????? Yeah my bad. It was just an update. But still, he ain't getting in.
  19. Well Brewers fans really got out there for Braun as he finished 5th of five on the final vote. Saunders goes for the AL and Belt for the NL.
  20. Garza just sucks. Just cut his behind and be done with it.
  21. Probably? lol come on.
  22. I kind of hope the NL loses because of bad Cub performances, the Cubs make the World Series, and lose in the 9th inning of Game 7 in a clutch situation in front of a roaring hostile crowd. That would be fantastic. I'd rather have it be in front of their hometown fans. Let it burn even more.
  23. Keep Braun. Build around the Hall of Famer!
  24. Mistakes happen. It is what it is. It's not the first time it's happened either. Nice Brewers win today after a very long, long, looooooong games yesterday.
