  1. Whew! Now Brewers nation can relax. We have our third basemen back!
  2. This is probably the more logical and common sense approach the building a winner. It just would be nice to find a Freddie Freeman type hitter when they are young. Good approach, has power, plays solid defense.
  3. I think if it costs that much, you have to pass. If you could get this done without giving up Arcia, then maybe.
  4. Adding Freeman with Braun would be the 3-4 punch this team has missed since Fielder left. If Mark A wants to open up the pocket book and trade for this guy, by all means get it done. We'll get prospects back from Lind and Lucroy enough to stock the farm.
  5. I don't know that it hurts Lind's value all that much. They just aren't comparable trade chips in all honesty. With Freeman you have to commit serious money over the next two years and have your farm system take a huge hit. Lind has very good offensive production himself and won't cost anywhere near the same prospects or money. Very well may not effect his value at all. Agreed here. While you may have to give up one higher end prospect for Lind, you'll have to give up 3+ for Freeman. To be honest, $20mil for Freddie Freeman is not a bad deal in today's market. The man can hit. Get him away from playing half his games in Atlanta and his numbers may rise even more. The Yankees should be all over him.
  6. Wait. You're upset that the Brewers can't trade multiple top prospects for 60 innings of pitching? No I'm upset that it won't kill their franchise like it would the Brewers. They can get away with this crap and still keep a possibility of competiting. It's not how it should be.
  7. This is a great example of a trade the Brewers could never dream of doing. Only a large market who prospects don't really matter for can do these types of deals. Hate how the MLB is set up.
  8. Solid trade.
  9. He also traded away Phillips and Hader, is he not high on them as well? I don't think this is a strong argument for trading away someone. Houston was in a position to make a dent in the playoffs or at least make them and they had to give up quality prospects to obtain a guy like Gomez and Fiers. I think it is that simple. A second point is how could he not be in love with a 22 year old, corner OF that bashes the ball around the ball park and WALKS, a TON. How could he not like that? Not only that but he played centerfield for us, a position he is not fond of, and played it pretty solidly.
  10. -The only reason they should be interested is to fill CF for this season or at least the start of the season while a guy like Phillips gets more ready and then you flip Revere for another prospect. -Your second part makes sense as well. I could see something like that playing out. Would they want another HR basher? Maybe not but it seemed to work well for them last year and it was pretty electric in Toronto.
  11. Yes, like explained above that this trade may just be very beneficial to both ball clubs.
  12. Why not do Garza/Davis/some cash for Revere and a prospect. Davis fits their homerun slugging team perfectly if you ask me. Can put Braun back over to LF, Revere in CF, and the slugging Santana in RF. Plus then you have Smith still who you can either keep or pair up with another player and fill even more holes.
  13. Some of these stats are just hard to wrap my head around. I watch Segura on a daily basis and know that he is a solid SS. Nothing special but not as doom and gloom as many want to make it out to be. He is a major league SS defensively and if he just hits a little better, offensively as well.
  14. Could we take on a horrible contract like CC Sabathia at $30 mil for the next season but get prospects from the Yankees in return for doing so? Allow them to have Garza in the process.
  15. I really hope it doesn't take 4 years to get competitive. That is insane to me. There is enough young arms in this organization, many in which are close to the majors for it not to take that long. I can understand sucking next year because of pulling off a lot of these trades will leave holes that maybe we cannot fill but those holes should be filled sooner than four seasons from now.
  16. I'd rather trade Garza to Cincy and get Brandon Phillips than Chris Johnson. (not saying I want to do either)
  17. My hopes would be that if we had lefties at 3B and 1B that Phillips would be very close to taking over in CF and he'd be our third. Add in hopefully that Sardinas is ready as a switch hitter is on the bench and can fill in anywhere and all of a sudden we have our balanced lineup. I agree here too. Gennett probably doesnt get enough credit for his power being such a little guy. I just do not like his defense and if we are building a ground ball rotation, I want to see the best defense we can get (with some offense). I just don't think Gennett is that guy.
  18. If we found a left handed bat at 3B and 1B, I'd be all over a Arcia/Segura middle of the IF. I just don't think Sardinas is ever going to be the guy there but could be a great utility man filling in all over the diamond. The problem I have with Segura and until it changed, it will continue is that he has failed to learn any patience at the plate. It is almost like he refuses to. If he doesn't hit for a high average, he's worthless.
  19. I read this and I'm not even sure what to even think other than... why? It just seems to serve very little purpose.
  20. Now that Yadi, Wainwright and Holliday are on their last legs and with the injury to Lynn and the previously stated semi-meltdown of their pitchers, maybe... just maybe, the reign of the Cardinals is coming to a close? One can only hope. Personally I hope they win 78-80 games for the next 100 years because that is neither good enough to get them top picks nor is it good enough to get them into the playoffs. I banish them to a century of mediocrity! (if only I had such powers)
  21. Depends on what you have to give up. Like many other have said, a trade with the Twins could make a lot of sense. Maybe there is a larger package of players involved where he is a toss in because the Twins now have viable options at 1B/3B/DH.
  22. Plouffe is a good player, but he only has 2 years until free agency. I want longer term players - not just a couple of years of a guy. Perhaps if we were contending, but I don't see that happening the next two years. I guess I see it differently as in he is a guy that can be our guy there for this season (at least until July) as well as next season until July. We get .5 to 1.5 years out of him as a filler for us as well as flipping him for prospects for the future years. Just because we may not contend in the next 1-3 years doesn't mean we shouldn't be signing/trading for some of these guys that can fill now and also help our future.
  23. I'm hoping this makes Ploufe available to the Brewers. Could be a nice fill in guy for us and possible a tradable guy going forward.
  24. Couldn't agree more. Sick of the who cares who we put out there in the next two years. It does matter and can pay high dividends towards the future of the franchise.
