  1. That is such a pity party statement it's unbelievable. So because in one trade we took a chance and rolled the dice with three 19 year olds (if you read the story about above Cueto, maybe it'll make you feel better?), all of a sudden we are not looking to compete until 2020?
  2. RHP Kohl Stewart - the main piece of the trade and looks to be a good one, like this OF/1B Adam Brett Walker- Milwaukee born, I like. Don't like that he's another RH batter. Oh, and I didn't see where he has ever played 1B? LHP Taylor Rogers- interesting lefty, seems to get a lot of groundouts which is nice I think this is a solid deal. It would be interesting to see what both sides would say about something like this.
  3. Lucroy could be a franchise changing trade, especially if paired with a pitcher like Peralta or Smith.
  4. Yes. He isn't my or quite a few peoples ideal SS because of his whack away type approach but he does have value and we'll see a return on him. Peńa is another guy that can become a big contributor this season. Hellweg, meh...
  5. Is Schwaber not a good catcher? Why don't the Cubs just catch him?
  6. http://sports.cbsimg.net/images/visual/whatshot/HeywardCatch.gif I think he'll be fine out there. I'm sure I could find Mark Kotsay making a diving catch in CF too. Does that mean he'd be "fine" out there? lol
  7. Fine. Have Lucroy. But we get em all. Their top three, no FOUR prospects that we want plus Montero back to us.
  8. Can we talk about defense? I know that everyone is getting inflated contracts as compared to even 5 years ago now, but Heyward plays some really good defense. If you believe in Fangraphs' WAR, he's about the same player Braun is in terms of value given their ages. Of course, contracts are quite inflated now. Does he play great defense in CF? Because that's where it sounds like he'll be.
  9. Probably around $200 million for him. Good player, not great. Will help them right now though.
  10. Couldn't the reason he targeted these three younger pitchers with Lind be because he had planned to add Walsh, Pina, and Cecchini all along? I mean, it isn't out of the realm of thinking that he knew who he wanted so he wanted to add depth to the lower minors while he had the chance? Don't get me wrong, I originally scratched my head on this trade but GM's have a greater overall plan sometimes that we are not privy to.
  11. I think what 502 is saying is that you really have no idea what GMs were offering. I think it's silly to rip these international prospects that are all ~18 years old because they're not on a top 30 list yet, but even if that is granted, the main point is that people are angry and believe that they knew a better offer was on the table. That's what he was getting at. The Peterson/Zunino rumors were out there among others, and those rumors have snowballed into the theory for many that they KNEW something like that was out there from several teams and that they also are of the opinion that that offer is clearly better than what he got. Again, the latter part of that (thinking that the package the Brewers got was inferior to the artificial offers) is annoying to me, but OK. It's the fact that people believe that they know something was better out there that is interesting. I've seen a few/talked to a few people thinking it was a crappy return and that Stearns should have waited longer, etc. You really have no idea. It is entirely possible that he messed up the timing and picked the wrong return, but I tend to believe that the offers out there were way lower than some believe...and when once criticizes, they seem to do so KNOWING that there was a better offer out there (in their mind). That's it. Well said. You should try this approach next time. It would've been a good, positive read.
  12. Very cool approach and sounds somewhat like what Domingo Santana has as an approach.

Yeah I hear you there. And I completely agree that it's silly to pretend to know what was on the table for Lind. My only point was to almost shame those who have strong opinions against the trade is the wrong way to go about this board. If someone posts a strong opinion against it, move on and discuss what you want to discuss about the trade. Don't get all tied up in the shenanigans and then come and vent about it like you're better than someone else. That's where this board falls off the rails each and every time. And where we lose positive posters and great incite to the Brewers. If people didn't respond to the silliness, it would flame out a lot quicker and people would just discuss the Brewers.
  14. Maybe some just wanted a different type of package for Lind? I don't think I've seen a poster pretend to know what was truly on the table but I do always enjoy self righteous posts. Hope it made you feel better. Yeah, you should re-read the thread then. I agree with 502 that that facet of this discussion has been obnoxious. Comments like the one's bolded, underlined and italicized do nothing for this board. Never have, never will. If you don't like what someone has to say about a trade, than either don't read it or ignore it. It's very simple. It's a discussion board that people are allowed to express themselves about things like who the Brewers trade for. People can rip it to shreds if they want to.

  16. How has Mitch Lambson not had a coup of coffee in the bigs? Dudes WHIP has hovered 1.000 his entire career and he's a lefty.
  17. Daniel Nava would be an interesting option as he is a switch hitter that can play 1B and in the OF as well. He is a career .280/.376/.408/.784 against right handed pitching. Another versatile guy for Counsell to plug around the field. Could make for some really interesting lineups next season.
  18. First off, there is only one R in his first name I believe. Secondly, it is another guy that can play 1B, 3B, and some LF. Versatility. Hopefully he finds his stroke and gets on base.
  19. This Walsh guy will get every opportunity to prove he can play otherwise there was no reason to select him. Pretty tough to just throw someone on the bench and never play in the national league. Brings versatility (I think we'll be seeing a lot of this in the Stearns/Counsell regime) and gets on base. Hopefully his defense is up to par in at least one position and we might have ourselves a little something. Hopefully we are building a team that thoroughly annoys other teams pitchers because they just don't strike out, put the ball in play, and walk... a lot.
  20. Very nice. We are building an IF that could be putrid but also could find some diamonds in the rough. Ya just never know.
  21. I wish we could find a sucker for Scooter. Send him off to somewhere else and get a fringe prospect in return.
  22. Yes, we can shop Lucroy with no big thoughts on lack of defense and we can move away from Maldonado being set in stone as our backup catcher.
