  1. I would like Paxton back if it's picking between that group. Guy has always intrigued me. The Mariners hopefully will overpay somehow for Lind. Not sure how, but hopefully they do.
  2. This is such a huge risk to take when dealing a player like Lucroy.
  3. Just had an ESPN blast on my phone. Nothing earth shattering but said that Lind is not in teams long term plans and will be moved this week.
  4. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/marlins-discussing-jose-fernandez-with-dodgers-two-others-deal-still-unlikely.html From the sounds of that asking price, I don't think Fernandez will be going anywhere this offseason. But stranger things have happened I suppose.
  5. How much does Petco field play into his numbers being what they are?
  6. Why another OF? We have Santana that needs a real long look this year. And not in CF.
  7. If you're doing something like this you still need prospects coming back.
  8. So far the three too FA pitchers haven't landed in STL or CHI. I call that success.
  9. At what point do these players start coming back and buying franchises after they are thru playing.
  10. Interesting. Maybe they don't want Peralta anymore. Either way I wish we had Greinke. Glad to see a different team make a splash though.
  11. Why doesn't Baltimore just pitch him if he's going to be sooooo good and he's healthy?
  12. That is probably not a fair trade. Would you give up Khris Davis and Domingo Santana for Tom Koehler? Just curious but do you think that the trade you just gave me is the same as Jake Lamb and Peter O'Brien?
  13. That boat sailed last April when we sank like the titanic. That idea was only floated if we managed to compete this year and had a decent outlook for next year. Once that was gone signing Zimmerman was on no ones mind. Yes, I agree. I haven't really heard any talk of "The Brewers should sign Zimmermann", in quite a long time. Do "hometown discounts" ever really happen in baseball anymore? I can't think of any examples in recent history. Maybe Prince Fielder signing with Detroit. http://artzunk.com/uploads/sp-dead-horse.gif
  14. If Peralta netted us Jake Lamb and Peter O'Brien, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Two guys that can play now, are young, controllable, and could be very good MLB players.
  15. I really like the idea of adding Jake Lamb as well but I'm just not sure it's a great trade if it's Willy for him straight up. While Lamb fills a hole for us, Peralta is still young, controllable and a capable pitcher. I know his velocity was down last year but I just feel he should net us a guy like Lamb plus another B-level prospect type. I mean Gerrado Parra netted us Daives and he could very well be a Peralta type pitcher (numbers wise) and Parra was a proven gold glover who can hit righties very well.
  16. Were you a fortune teller in a previous life? Seems really silly to just dump a player that can hold value. Not really using our resources very well by doing that. On top of that, it's not like dumping him saves us any money. It actually costs us more because now you're calling up another player or signing another player to fill that hole. Really... really silly GM's do this.
  17. In 2015 the Red Sox had the 3rd highest opening day payroll, and finished last in their division. In 2014 the Red Sox had the 4th highest opening day payroll, and finished last in their division. In 2004 the Red Sox had the 2nd highest opening day payroll, and won the World Series. In 2007 the Red Sox had the 2nd highest opening day payroll, and won the World Series. In 2013 the Red Sox had the 4th highest opening day payroll, and won the World Series.
  18. Tyler Flowers stats look like Maldonado's if he were to play full seasons. Maybe a slight uptick.
  19. This will really depend on what Stearns sees in a guy like Jason Rogers. If he signs a guy like Carter, the handwriting is on the wall for Rogers in a Brewers uniform. My opinion is that IF a guy like Lind is going to be traded very soon than Carter could make some sense. My only wish is that he were a lefty, we are so short on those in our lineup. But if we are not competing, who cares? blah.
  20. Still a chance he gets signed back like Perez was.
  21. Another problem is that he's another guy that is terrible against left handers.
  22. If baseball had a salary cap, maybe there wouldn't be all these longer contracts given out?
  23. I think it could be a good buy low guy but it seems as though he might be a better fit in the AL with the DH.
  24. They actually have a pretty solid catching core with Hannigan, Swihart and the defensive wiz in Christian Vasquez. I do know my brother would love the Brewers to get their hands on Swihart since he coached him in high school but I just don't see it being realistic. One can hope though.
  25. Here's to hoping a fresh pitching coach can bring Garza back to the consistent pitcher he has been throughout his entire career. If he can do that, and stays healthy, there will be plenty of suiters to trade Garza to as some have stated his team friendly deal when looking at some of these contracts.
