  1. I feel as though the union would love it. More players getting paid.
  2. 515 ft home run for Denson, not sure if it was with a metal bat or not, but still impressive. If a guy is hitting em that far, cut down the swing a bit and make more contact. Let the pitcher supply the power.
  3. With the ongoing discussion of how to increase offense in the majors, would allowing teams to carry 2-3 more positional players help increase offense? I ask this assuming teams would platoon more players or go with match ups more often. Probably a crazy idea, but hey, ya just never know.
  4. I too would have done this deal if he was willing to play OF. Probably would have given him a mil or more too to make it happen. Dude OPS'd .865 against lefties last year and had a .357 OBP overall. Scooter will never come close to touching either of those number. Couldn't agree more. Had he been open to playing a corner OF spot, we may be having a different conversation, like possibly finishing his career in Milwaukee. For those who say he would've been horrible out there, it is pretty hard to judge since we have never seen him play out there.
  5. Sign em all! JK, but yeah, this kids could be a nice piece as well.
  6. Flip Segura and Scooter and you might have it.
  7. This is one of those where I wish we'd win the series with Ron so we can build some great history with what seems to be a very good man.
  8. Offensively it seems to me he had a pretty good season last year. Had he been open to playing some OF and done a decent job out there he may still be a Brewer. The Weeks hatred never made a lot of sense to me.
  9. Maybe he's spent the offseason fielding fly balls so he could become more versatile. Good luck to him. Wish he would've stayed healthier.
  10. On a minor league deal, do it. Anything else... no.
  11. Sign an extra scrub to catch out pitchers and let that thing heal up properly. Absolutely no reason to rush back with so much time still before opening day. Hamstrings can be a ... to let heal.
  12. If the Brewers do get off to a good start, I'd bet on them making a move or two to secure a playoff spot. MA won't let another one of those type season pass him by. The Brewers can win this division. Lots of if's for their team but that's just like any other team. I personally think this will be the year we see a step back from the Cardinals and it'll be for the taking for the Pirates or Brewers. Cubs will have to wait a year as they wont win 80 games.
  13. And then if the Brewers are good, they will be the team that came out of nowhere and shocked the world. All because these uninformed beat writers do not have a clue about any team outside of a larger market. Very well written Pete.
  14. The Giants will have an off year because they seem to be good every other year. The Dodgers will be contenders again and we'll see if they can get over the hump in the playoffs. The Padres will have to come together throughout the season with all the fresh faces. It may happen, but it could also blow up in their faces.
  15. I wish I shared your confidence in A-Ram. But I see a guy who can't run who'll probably put up numbers similar to what Paul Konerko did in 2013: .244/.313/.355 with 12 HR and 54 RBI. He's at the age where guys hit the wall and he was hitting it hard last September. On the other hand, you are really underrating Gennett. Until he pulled his calf muscle he was having a one heck of a year. No reason to think he won't be productive playing every day healthy. Davis and Segura are capable of good seasons as well. Aram was up and down last season, probably due to the leg issues. Yes, he does not run well but if he's healthy, he will hit. Again, he could very easily continue to get nagging injuries but if he stays relatively healthy, he will hit .280 and above. His power might not be middle of the order type stuff anymore but if he's stuck in the 6-hole hitting .280 or possibly better, we really have something this season. He also hit very poorly at home last season compared to the road which is very unusual for him.
  16. Is this close to what he's getting? If so, what do I win?
  17. More than ever I'm ok with our off season then.
  18. Exciting stuff if we really are thinking about this. A 19 year old stud? Yes please.
  19. It all comes down to until you put your pitchers at the MLB level, you will never know how good or bad they will be. Look at Fiers. He's a perfect case for how a pitcher can basically come out of no where and be a pretty good option for your rotation. Now, he could stink this season, but he has done enough in his small windows with the Brewers and enough in AAA to be given the opportunity to fill a rotation spot. Not every pitcher you get is a can't miss, top prospect. It just does not work that way.
  20. I completely agree with the "home town" discount thing. He is going to get his money, and he should. Now, I do believe we could be in the running for him, and may be outbid by those three teams, but it does not mean we cannot sign this guy if we think it is worth it.
  21. There is still time to sign pitchers my man. Still time... Heck one of the best FA pitchers still hasn't signed, Shields.
  22. Maybe this would be the best signing then because I do not want any part of those two for their next contracts. Use them while in their prime and move on.
  23. The more options we have... the better. I love that we are signing guys like Perez and Willis. Love it.
  24. After looking at it more closely from last years team, I guess I wouldn't mind bringing him in because we were not very good against left handed pitching this season. (Could we be worse letting Gennett hit against them?) Yikes. 2014 ML RANKINGS: vs. LHP: 1256 at bats(7.75 per/gm), .705 OPS(18th ranked), 27th ranked in avg, 26th ranked in OBP vs. RHP: 4206 at bats(25.96 per/gm), .708 OPS(11th ranked), 9th ranked in avg, 15th ranked in OBP
  25. I'm going to guess $54M/3 years with a 4th year club option of $20M (buyout of $4M)
