    It'll probably pan out for Beane. Think the Jays want Gomez for a CF? We'll give them Gallardo and Gomez for Stroman and a couple of top prospects.

    It's safe to say we are all worried about ARam and Segura. ARam because he's old, seems to be easily injured, and really fell off last season. Segura because other than a hot start to half a season, he's really sucked and had a personal tragedy that can really take a toll on shaping your mindset on life.

    I like the idea of Cecchini and Craig joining the crew for Gallardo or Lohse. Then flip Gomez over to SEA for Walker and Jackson. Possibly a shot at it for now and gives us pieces for the future.

    Doesn't strikeout many but also did not walk people either. Interesting candidate. I'm sure they have or will look into him.

    This is GM speak completely. Of course he will say something like this but that does not mean he's not searching the other avenues to make this team better and if that opportunity comes along, he will make that decision. Comparing our situation with the Royals has nothing to do with the off-season, nor will it make an impact on what DM believes is best for his squad. Now I'm not guaranteeing a huge move, or even a bunch of little moves, but to say that he believes he is set, no matter what becomes available this off-season just does not fly with me.     It's November 20th, 2014. We have over 3 months until we even report to spring training. I get the questions you have but hopefully, going forward, we will find guys to hit RHP's. The fact that we already secured Lind, at a way better value than lets say Billy Butler for 3 years of $30 million is already promising for the off season considering how putrid of a 1B we had offensively last season.

    I believe people are trying to place statistics way too much towards what the record would be. Certainly a lot of what you just said, could happen and it might but either way, each season is its own beast. We see it all the time with teams. The team we had last season could have very easily gotten hot the last month and won the world series. They were good enough to. Did that happen? Obviously not. But thinking we need a complete upgrade all over the diamond is very foolish thinking to me. We can do a few little things throughout this offseason (and maybe something big too) and compete for a world series in 2015.

    Not only would he be our ace but our Wisconsin fan base would be crazy over a Wisconsin guy being here. Heck even I could support that. Problem is, we probably do not have what they are looking for with prospects other than giving up guys that we probably cannot afford to give up.

    I guess if you want to sink all of your faith into WAR, the more power to ya but 1B is already been upgraded from the left side of the plate going into this season whether you want to believe it or not.

    I think I'd go with Miller as well for a long term contract. He'd be about the only one on the market this year that'd I'd take that chance. The guy is amazing.

    False. I would have gladly taken a .238ba/.306obp/.504slg for a .810 ops from the left side of the plate vs. RHP's. Not only that but he slugged 15 bombs to go along with it. That alone is/was an upgrade over Overbay. Overbay's defense was no real asset last season and he ops'd 122 points lower than Francisco(against RHP). Melvin made a mistake on this one.

    I just do not see Roenicke switching his lineup like this for lefties vs. righties. Mainly, I see him sticking with one leadoff hitter no matter who they are facing (probably end up being Gomez again because Gennett doesn't hit lefties.)

    I feel as though we could sign two players to be our 4th and 5th OF and be more productive that way using less money than giving Parra. I liked the idea of Parra when Braun's name was being tossed around playing 1B but now, it just seems as though its a large chunk of money being spent on a backup player that may do alright if we have injuries. Example and there could be a lot of them but we could probably sign Jason Kubel who smacks around RHP's to be our corner OF guy and sign Emilio Bonafacio to back up CF, 2B, SS. This allows us to still have Schaffer in AAA in case of a serious injury somewhere during the season where we need help in all of our OF positions. We could probably get these players for $4-5mil combined instead of paying Parra $6-8 mil (really unsure of what he'll get). This allows us some more money to go and throw into our pitching department. Which is needed.

    I feel as though baseball will eventually lose my interest with the silliness of mediocre players being paid like kings. Billy Butler being given $30 mil makes my stomach turn. I am all for people making money in life but baseball is just getting stupid. First Martin, now Butler.

    Agreed. Duke is not the kind of guy you pay full retail for. One of Melvin's best attributes is patience in the reliever market. I am confident he'll find a nugget or two on sale. And hopefully one of those nuggets is a lefty. Kameron Loe is probably available. I heard he is pretty tough on lefties.

    For me, it's not that I do not see value with Parra considering our injury problems with our OF, it is that I feel we could get close to the same production from some guys that cost us quite a bit less than he will. If winning is truly about the pitching, that we could use that money to get our pitching where it needs to be. Just my two cents. (not really complaining that we have him, just more so see it where we could use the resources elsewhere.)

    Yeah nice to see a guy that had a rocky start to his career figure out his niche. Hopefully we'll meet in the series!

    Which is why I hope they trade Parra so much. Use his $6+ mil or whatever it is and get some more arms in that pen or in the rotation. Let Schaffer and Wren or whoever off the scrap heap play the backup roles and lets not give up runs this season. That's the key to winning.

    If he only wasn't so atrocious in the field, we'd really have something. But right now we have a guy with pop who barely walks and has to be subbed for late in games because he may cost you the game with his defense. That is the problem people have with him. Which is why hardly anyone is set on him as their LF going forward.

    Maybe adding a guy like Wren makes Parra a guy that is on the move? Now having Schaffer and Wren, we are pretty set defensively as a backup. Now, if either of them can hit MLB pitching... that's the next step.
