  1. Even though the whole situation makes me uncomfortable I'll say this for HY, when the bullpen coach offered him another ball... that was ridiculous. I've never caught a ball at a game, I hope to some day before I die. If I catch one, it's going to take a heck of a lot for me to give it up. It means something to me because I've always wanted to catch a ball at a game, not because it's some guys first career home run. I'd give it up when informed that it was his first career home run, but it would be hard. I always thought the teams offered quite a bit, never knew it had to come to a negotiation.
  2. Wow I had no idea about Happy Youngster. I'd like to take back my vote for him. I just thought he was a guy who loved the Brewers, went to a lot of games and was fortunate enough to catch a lot of balls. I had no idea the tactics used to get those baseballs.
  3. We've seen it happen before topper. I want to say it was in the late 80's early 90's though. The pitcher went to first base for 1 hitter.
  4. After getting a look at Wes tonight, he looks nothing like his old portly self. I used to think he just looked heavy, now I definitely think he got lazy and fat making himself ineffective. Also, I wonder how many people had nicknames for him. A few friends and I always referred to him as Darn useless.
  5. I took that to mean "If Gamel is raking and playing a decent third base he may be here to stay". I wonder what the mind set was for Melvin and Co. when they brought Braun up. I don't know that they thought he would never need to go back down. I think you are totally right though, if Nelson doesn't clear waivers you don't make this move. Theoretical spots in the lineup are fine but if Fielder, Hart or Braun were to find themselves on the DL Nelson might be our best option to play every day. I deleted the part of your post about Branyan but it makes total sense. After waiting a long time to get his call up and then barely playing it's understandable for Nelson to put a lot of pressure on himself. I wonder where he would be if he got a hit or two to start the season. Once he went 0 for 10 or so I think it got to his head big time.
  6. I hate to see them give up on Nelson after 6 weeks. Someone will pick him up and he will be a decent big league player.
  7. Both. It's normal for DirecTV and you should definitely complain. They seem to think they don't have a problem with it but if it's just windy I have problems.
  8. BA "And now it's a guarantee that Rickie will get another at bat." It was a guarantee when the 6th inning ended.
  9. They said he left the game with a headache. Thanks, glad to hear it's nothing serious.
  10. I checked gamecast too, atleast 2 of the 3 strikes were definitely in the zone. I actually thought all 3 were in the zone and the only ball called in the at bat was pretty close. He watched strike 2 and 3 that were in the zone with the bases loaded.
  11. So far tonight Russ is 2 for 3 and hit his 8th home run of the season. It sure is fun to see what he can do playing every day. I hope the guy hits 40
  12. Eh, can't really complain but here goes anyway... JJ you have to swing the bat there!
  13. Yeah southpaw the more I think about it, as good as Hall has been to start the year, if they can unload his contract and get something for him it would be a good trade. You'd just hate to see him struggle for 2 years, figure it out, then trade him and he goes on to be a .280 30 hr third baseman that actually does hit right handers too. I'm not as much worried about what the move will be as much as I'm dying to find out what is going on. I'd be less excited to find out that Brad Nelson is DFA'd and Gamel is going to sit the bench.
  14. It just doesn't make sense with out a trade. And even then, Hall and Counsell are producing. Gamel's defense isn't great yet. I don't get it.
  15. I missed the beginning of the game but the Marlins feed just had the Happy Youngster on. He caught one of the Marlins first career home runs. Kinda cool
  16. I think it's funny that people's opinion of him vary by such extremes. I will agree that I always thought he looked fat and lazy. I didn't think he was a very good player. It seemed like you could always count on him to strike out or make an error at a big time in the game. I do however believe that he was not lazy. I remember reading about Ned having to lock him out of the batting cages because he was in there TOO much.
  17. Did everyone lose FSWisconsin? Thank got Marlins feed is still working
  18. Ugh, I don't know how many more times I can watch Brad make an out before his first hit. I feel bad for him.
  19. How do you recognize Ken Macha in public unless he's in his uniform? Looks like a bunch of guys that age.
  20. Awesome idea to add to an already awesome thing. Can't wait to see the next Power 50.
  21. You can't honestly believe that Melvin and Co. are gonna make changes because of a bunch of boo birds. If fans want changes, their only realistic option is to stop buying tickets and merchandise. When Attanasio sees ticket and merchandise sales nosedive, he'll make changes.Attanasio is going to see ticket and merchandise sales nosedive and know that the problem is one particular player that a lot of fans dislike? Just because I can't stand a particular player doesn't mean I'm not a fan of the rest of the team. I don't see why I should stay away from the stadium because of Wes Helms... It's like getting a bad haircut. The barber or hairsylist would rather you say "hey I don't like this, please fix it" than you not coming back.
