  1. Also, ForemanGrill, the Brewers play at the Cubs tomorrow. It's in Mesa. Usually a tougher ticket to get but a single seat shouldn't be too bad. Hohokam Park, near Mesa dr. Near downtown Mesa.
  2. Took a little over 100 pictures today, not sure how or where to post some. Any ideas?
  3. I think Cecil makes Prince look bad. I'd have a falling out with my dad and "really change" if my dad stole a couple million from me too. Then Prince looks bad because he wants a big pay day from the Brewers. In reality his dad stole his signing bonus and he was playing for a couple hundred thousand dollars a year while completely out performing it. I know to the average person a couple hundred thousand is nothing to sneeze at but for a pro athlete it's nothing. People need to give Prince a break.
  4. I don't want to be a jerk but isn't there another thread to discuss your cable company or cable vs satellite? It's a little bit irritating to be reading about the topic and then the thread gets turned around on cable and error messages. And yes I do realize this very post isn't about the original topic. Thanks
  5. good point Robin19. It's just nice to read some people having positive opinions on Prince. I know the points about his defense and weight have some merit but the Prince bashing was getting to be a bit much. I'd like more info on those at bats as well as the year before but to be honest I don't care enough to go back and look.
  6. I posted this in another thread but I thought maybe this was an appropriate place as well. I had noticed that Prince's ABs directly following a Ryan Braun HR were usually horrible. Usually a K or a weak ground ball out. I think that he would go up to bat pressing trying to keep up with Braun whether it is contract related or just wanting to be a team leader. Here is what I found: After a Braun HR BA .188 / OBP .235 / K 9 / HR 1 / RBI 1 / Every other PA BA .280 / OBP .380 / K 125 / HR 33 / RBI 101 I know it's a relatively small sample size, but it is 1 whole season. Hopefully the 2 year contract does something to get his mind in the right place. I know this does nothing to help his defense but I also think that people are quick to criticize Prince. His numbers are great. Looking forward to everyones opinions.
  7. Ok I wanted to make sure I wasn't being that crazy uncle or annoying friend who sees what they want to see. This is the first time I've ever gone back and checked game logs so if someone finds a mistake I'll understand. This is what I believe Prince's stats are like when he directly followed a Ryan Braun home run in 2008. BA .188 / OBP .235 / K 9 / HR 1 / RBI 1 / I didn't keep track of it but of the 17 times he did put the ball in play for an out, a lot were ground ball outs (I know this doesn't mean a lot but I was excited to see that I was right). Hopefully a 2 year deal will help Prince relax and not put as much pressure on these at bats. AB when he did not follow a Braun HR his stats were... BA .280 / OBP .380 / K 125 / HR 33 / RBI 101 Looking forward to what everyone thinks of this. I'm sure I'm proving something that most people thought was the case already but I still found it interesting.
  8. I'd love to see the stats on Prince's ABs following a Braun home run. While one hitter protecting another may be overrated, it seemed like the entire year if Braun hit a home run, Prince came up and either struck out or hit a weak ground ball. Could someone tell me how to find those stats?
  9. I guess I don't see what is so special about some of the stadiums. In my opinion Maryvale is the best. It's easy to get around, it's not over crowded. It feels like spring training should feel. The other stadiums that sell out and are tougher to get good seats don't appeal to me as much. I know it's a great thing for the team that more people are going to see the Brewers in the spring but I miss how it was a few years back when I could sit wherever I want. There was something special about watching games like that. It was like Kevin Costner's family watching games in a Field of Dreams at Maryvale.
  10. Anyone check out Billy Beane's video game? I'm tempted to buy it. It sounds really cool. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13772_3-10148762-52.html Basic premise is that it is the closest simulation to being a real GM in MLB. Wondering if anyone has tried it and looking for feed back. Thanks.
  11. Kinda dumb, but with the pitch counts being enforced, something has to be done to avoid running out of arms and ending in a tie. It doesn't mention who the runners would be. Would the team get to decide or would it be the last two batters from the previous inning?
  12. I'm curious why Salome's height is such a big deal. If he were 2 or 3 inches taller then there would be less concerns about his future as a major leaguer? Can't we just get him some special shoes? It shouldn't hurt his defense. In theory his strike zone would be smaller, even though I don't think MLB umpires change their zone depending on player height. A few inches in height shouldn't matter if he can hit.
  13. The people that post on that site are complete morons and the constant posting of "first" is annoying. I wouldn't want his job. I agree he has many inaccuracies and is a bit smug but as far as getting riled up with people that disagree with him, no big deal.
  14. Jeff Suppan rhp 4 years/$42M (2007-10), plus 2011 club option 4 years/$42M (2007-10), plus 2011 club option [li]signed as a free agent 12/06$1M signing bonus 07:$6M, 08:$8M, 09:$12.5M, 10:$12.5M, 11:$12.75M club option ($2M buyout) full no-trade clause, 2007-08 limited no-trade clause, 2009-10 (may block deals to 8 clubs each year) award bonuses: $0.5M for Cy Young ($0.4M for 2nd, $0.3M for 3rd, $0.2M for 4th, $0.1M for 5th); $0.25M for MVP ($0.1M for 2nd, $75,000 for 3rd); $0.1M for All Star starting pitcher ($50,000 for A-S selection); $0.1M for WS MVP; $50,000 each for Silver Slugger, Gold Glove or AP, BA, TSN, BW, USA Today All Star $0.3M assignment bonus for each trade perks: use of suite at Brewers home games Suppan to donate $0.1M annually to club charity [/li] Do you think whoever did the negotiations with Suppans agent wishes he had those moments of his life back? He could have told the agent, we will give you full ownership of the team if you accomplish any one of these things... and been on to better things that afternoon. Wasn't it Christmas too? Jeez, talk about a waste of time.
  15. This might be childish but I don't want a guy named Boof. When your team doesn't get taken seriously I don't want one of our few appearances on national television to be with Boof Bonser as our starter.
  16. I try not to split hairs but how about just using the word that Webster and the rest of us use instead of the one you like to use. Profit is what you have left after expenses... that is what we all accept to be true. I don't mind if someone uses the wrong term here or there but the frustration you're showing over the rest of us not understanding led me to chime in.
  17. 1 year 5 million... really? Makes me feel great about Kendalls contract.
  18. I'd rather watch him struggle for another year than trade him away, pay someone to take him off our hands, and then watch him have a comeback player of the year type season. He has the skills and potential. Needs to be disciplined at the plate. Maybe this Lasix surgery will help. That said he is currently Pedro Cerrano lite.
  19. I like it. Just don't think Griffey would like it. I remember hearing some time ago that he doesn't like playing in Milwaukee. That aside I think what he brings to the team would be perfect.
  20. I can't see or hear this guys name with out thinking of his wife IMMEDIATELY. Anyone else remember her threat that if he cheated on her she would make her self available to every single one of his teammates? I like this dynamic he would add to the team. Anyone feel like photoshopping her into that picture with Branyan that frequented this site? The guy is worth signing just to have his wife around. I don't care if he even throws a pitch.
  21. I look at it more along the lines of the drop off between a particular player vs another player available. I think there is a much bigger drop off from Hoffman to McClung/Villanueva/another FA reliever vs the drop off at starter from a potentially injured Sheets who may not be available to start the year, more prone to injury, another starting pitcher we spend 5-6 million on compared to starting McClung. Hope that makes sense. We needed to sign Hoffman. We don't need to spend on a starting pitcher. I think we will see real value when some of these FA starters realize its about time for pitchers and catcher to report and they don't have a team yet. I think Melvin is playing this well.
  22. I don't care how he gets on base. He gets on base. Thats a good thing. I wouldn't have minded Joey Cora or someone along those lines but I'm thrilled Counsell's back.
  23. 1 year 1 million dollars, excellent deal for the Crew if it happens. He brings a lot to the team as a veteran. I hope this rumor is true.
  24. Anyone catch Hot Stove on MLB last night or this morning? They went over the current FA pitchers, the market for them, and where they may end up. Talked about maybe 8 of the top FA pitchers. Didn't even mention sheets. I think he's hurt more than we think. Seems as if no team is considering him. I've heard that the Mets will take a look at him if they can't get Perez back. Just seems funny that we seem to think Sheets is atleast one of the 2 or 3 best FA pitchers left and this show doesn't even think he's worth mentioning.
  25. Don't want this to seem like I'm making this about me at all but I wanted to share my experience a little bit. I think Prince giving up meat caused him to gain weight. I recently gave up meat and have found it hard to keep the weight off too. Unless you love vegetables it's easy to be eating a lot of french fries, quesadillas, potatoes, and rice. I think Prince should hire someone to plan his meals or even prepare all of his meals. As a person who loves animals and doesn't want to eat them but isn't the biggest vegetable fan in the world, it's very easy to eat carbs/starch.
