  1. nope, sorry. Incorrect. My guide said "To be announced" for every channel at all times of the day for the Extra Innings Channels and the Sports Pack channels. So I couldn't have programmed the "Upcoming: Dodgers at Brewers" game since that wasn't an option. Also, I mentioned above that I set a Manual record time and channel for the times of the game. When I got home and found out that the game didn't record, I checked the Pirates-Astros game that was starting as I got home, that wasn't on either. Once I called DTV, it suddenly popped on (not on the guide, but I did see the beginning of the game go from black screen to Roy Oswalt suddenly pitching). This is why I believe that somebody screwed up and de-activated my package.
  2. Maybe Benny read the "How many CG 3-hitter's or less" thread and wanted to show us all that he can do it any time he pleases. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. and FTJ, you are correct. I did not state that I subscribe to Extra Innings and Sports pack in my initial post. To be honest, I was firing off so many heated emails and posts that I probably couldn't keep them all straight with regards to what was said in what email/post. At least I got some discounts on my bill for a year. I should have demanded HBO or something, too. Good news is that by this morning channel 642 had programming (including the game, pregame, postgame) on the guide. So did the Extra Inning channels. So I'm guessing somebody screwed up and inadvertently de-activated my subscriptions or something.
  4. yup, Casey, that's what I did. I set two recording manually (on my directivo that means going thru the menus until you get to "manual record time & channel" or something like that) And, yeah, I can understand getting the Dodger feed so that's why 642 didn't work, but 737 should have had something pop up despite the guide saying "to be announced". It's almost like somebody turned off my Extra Innings package inadvertently or something.
  5. sorry to say, but yes I have Extra Innings and I have Sports Pack. I have received both for 5 seasons now and have watched the games and pre-/post-game shows on 642 also. Sorry, you're wrong. I can get them here. EDIT: Sorry to be snide, but DTV screwed up today with a loyal customer. I respect Joey, but he is incorrect in this case. If I did not have the packages, then he would be right.
  6. thank goodness for archived Uecker, though, so I was at least able to listen to the game. Of course, while DTV was "guiding" me through resetting my receiver (like I didn't know how to do it anyways--oh, by the way, resetting it did nothing to my problem!), when the picture came back on after acquiring satellite info, it popped onto a channel scrolling scores and, of course, I inadvertently looked right at the Brewers score and doubly ruined things. Boy, DTV got an earful from me and I didn't really care about being courteous. Since DHonks lives in Phoenix and HE got the game, I'll be sending an email to DTV later tonight to demand something in addition to the "discounts."
  7. Ben Sheets definitely, without question, showed us all that he is undoubtedly not even close to being an ace. I mean, c'mon. Three strikeouts?!?!? That's a pittance! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. the thing that gets me the most is that even if if my guide says "to be announced" wouldn't the actual programming on that channel appear? It's not like it needs to be downloaded and then loaded into the memory like an online video download or something.
  9. So, I programmed my directivo to record the game on 642 AND on 737 (the scheduled channel for the game) for a 6 hour block. I went to work and eagerly waited until I got home. When I get home, I turn on the tube and hit play on my recording. Nothing happened. Turns out, I recorded 12 combined hours of black screen. For some reason, I did not get the game! I've been on the phone with DTV for a half hour now and they (big surprise) can't do anything about it. They are going to credit my bill $10 a month for a year and give me the sports pack for $2 a month for a year. But as of right now, they can not guarantee that I, living in AZ, can get tomorrow's or any other Milwaukee Brewer game! This is absurd! I can't remember the last time that I was this angry!

  11. well, here is my first official in-game thread post of the new season. Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat as DHonks and won't be doing any communication with the outside world until I get home from work and can watch the game. Go Brewers! Have fun everybody!
  12. weekend. Done teaching. Beer has been bought. Quite drunk in a few hours. Can't drink Opening Day (at school). Will make up for it tonight and all day tomorrow.
  13. I'm still using the old Firefox.
  14. being serious for a moment, I actually take great pride in spelling things correctly. Heck, many times, I go grab a dictionary before typing something out (if I need it). I'm glad that all my English, spelling, and grammar classes have "paid off" in my career. Maybe it's just the teacher in me, but I can't allow myself to mis-spell things, if I can help it. (for the record, I am not trying to be "elitist" or anything like that.) (also for the record, I counted how many times I had to use the backspace key in this post to correct something that my hands didn't do correctly the first time--and I don't hunt and peck, either. I had to go back and fix a typo 24 times due to my brain thinking faster than my hands can type.)
  15. I read that last sentence and see that as a balloon caption above Wendy's head. "Crap, I'm drunk!"
  16. okay, I didn't even know about these "By the Letter" cards. Of course, I haven't really looked at buying cards for a while and since there is no card shop in town, I'm stuck with whatever Walmart or Kmart puts out on their shelves. Of course, if I did have a card shop in town, I'd be broke. Or living in a cardboard house of commons. Probably both.
  17. yeah, I know what they are. Thanks for explaining that it had to do with SABR, which also I had heard of before. I just didn't know that that is why they were called sabermetrics. I suppose I could have thought of that but I never did. Thanks for clearing that up. I'd always wondered that.
  18. Okay, this is going to sound dumb but I've always wondered about the name "sabermetrics." Where does it come from? Why is it called this? Is its origin similar to how "rotisserie baseball" got it's name (presumably)?
  19. I'd come to this thread more often if I'd actually think about it when I get home from the bars. Unfortunately, I'm more in tune with getting something to eat, making the room stop spinning . . . that kind of stuff. Visiting a message board when I'm wasted is probably the last thing I'm thinking about. BTW, please tell me that you guys are walking home or taking cabs or something. Please don't be driving home.
  20. whoa. That's pretty common sense to me. A shame that apparently someone has gone to that kind of length to demean someone (or worse).
  21. I wonder how much better his arm will be in the outfield, though. Will he be missing cutoff men left-and-right and allowing opposing teams to basically take extra bases at will?
  22. you're not a terrible Wisconsinite. You've at least gone to Summerfest before. I lived in WI for 26 years and not once did I go to Summerfest.
  23. Powell said Mike Myers is now on the mound in the 7th. Since when did we get him? Is it the old submarine-style lefty or is this a different Mike Myers? I guess I missed him being on our roster, even as a non-roster player. EDIT: Nevermind, checked the non-roster roster and saw it was Mike Meyers, a different guy. Just was confused for a moment.
  24. I'm gonna vent about the fact that I'm on vacation for a week and now TWICE this week, the Brewer game was barely 2 hours long! What am I going to do today for another hour before the late hoops games are on????http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  25. Jiminy Beeswax, Ryan Braun is the man. If he keeps this up, we're going to have a "Can Ryan Braun pitch?" thread in the next 6 months.
