  1. personally, a pitchers W-L record is just pretty numbers. A meaningless statistic because they decided to give "credit" for win or loss to a pitcher. W-L record is over-rated. Same with ERA. Give me WHIP, BA vs LH/RH, K/9, BB/9, Runners/9 and I'm set. Maybe SLG allowed, too. So what if Sheets has a losing record. He had to pitch on crappy teams that did little for him. Put Sheets on a Braves team or Astros team or Cardinals team in the same era (2000-2005) and Sheets is likely a perenial all-star, possible Cy Young candidate.
  2. unfortunately, we are a bit short on gods on our team . . . . Fielder is pretty close, but he's a rookie. Sheets will have to do for now, cause it is highly unlikely we'll ever get a Johan Santana, Randy Johnson (in his prime), Dwight Gooden (circa 1985), or Bob Gibson.
  3. well, I'd love to say, "It's early," but it is now the middle innings and we've done little against Kim, except for some doubles. Oh, and stranding the runners. It doesn't look good. I hope I am wrong.
  4. Miller strayed a bit too far off third on a grounder to short by TGJ. Barmes threw to third to get Damian in a rather lackluster display of baserunning by a veteran.
  5. wow, Ohka is apparently crushed by the higher altitude. Good thing Cappy and Bush saved the long relievers for tonight.
  6. Good win. ANYTIME your starter goes in and throws well in Colorado you better win. Has our bullpen turned the corner?
  7. I've dug a rut in my carpet from pacing the last 3 innings.
  8. well, another stellar inning . . .. . come on BULLPEN!!!
  9. Cordero does his job. I would highly assume he will work the 9th, seeing as he threw 2 or 3 pitches in the 8th. Gosh, we can NOT blow this good pitching performance!
  10. overall, nice job by Wise. About time, huh?
  11. nice inning there . .. solid base hit, promptly followed by GIDP and K
  12. 1 white knuckle inning of relief done, 2 to go.
  13. ugh, I don't know if this is a wise move (no pun intended). keep raining, harder and harder. Put the tarp on the field. Call the game. Please?
  14. let's hope the heavens open up here. I'm really scared with our bullpen throwing a wet ball. They sure can't do much with a dry one.
  15. dang, just missed. Boy, Ramirez looked like he had nothing on the mound. Let's go bullpen! DO YOUR JOB!!!
  16. yep, Bill Hall turned it from a 2-0 lead to only a 1-0 lead. The bullpen is scaring me. Looks like Shouse in the 7th, though. At least he's been decent for us.
  17. probably the same reason that the offense usually flounders for Ben Sheets or Roger Clemens: the ol' "We don't have to do much today because our ace is on the mound". Of course, in your question it would be changed to those pitchers saying, "Well, we did our job while they got to relax. Now it's our turn 'cause I'm pooped out." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  18. anybody else worried that Bushie's relief outings are going to hurt him big-time in Colorado?
  19. I'm not sure if Brian was being sarcastic or not. But I thought that the unwritten law was to use a blue font if being sarcastic. Brian didn't use blue so I'm guessing he was serious?
  20. Well, I'm back from my vacation. Boy, I sure missed alot. This morning, as we left extreme western Wyoming (Evanston), my wife and I almost decided to drive the 7 hours to Denver, on a whim, to catch the game. I guess I'm glad that we didn't waste our time, seeing as they lost, and that they lost in just over 2 hours.
  21. um, about 90% of the people on this site pout, so why shouldn't he? Maybe he is actually taking stock in the team and showing he cares about them?
  22. no offense to anybody, but, even though it is lightning out (monsoon lightning--not the same as midwest lightning) I told myself that if we blew a 2-run lead that I would run a lap around our block in the nude. So off I go. (sorry I took this long, but I forgot about my pact while I was reading stuff.)
  23. it was a tailor made double play ball, if Turnbow didn't get a glove on it. We would've won. You can't fault his natural reaction to a line drive. On the other hand, bloop basehit put right in between 4 fielders shifted to prevent such a thing doesn't help. Nor does a high hop grounder that Hall tries to short hop rather than charge and get an out. Well, we'll get em' this weekend, I hope.
  24. okay, Extra Innings package has both the Brewers and the Giants feeds blacked out! Anybody else outside the Milwaukee market getting the game? EDIT: Never mind. The game finally popped up five minutes after I posted.
  25. Jeepers, I get back from the game and the Game Thread is only 2 pages long??? What, were the Packers on TV or something??? Anyways, it was good to see a win in person this weekend. That HR by Prince was amazing, the whole stadium was buzzing. Same thing about Brady's catch in RCF. Fans actually were booing when they showed the Defensive Play of the Game on the jumbotron because they selected a D-Back play and most of the fans knew the Clark catch was fantastic. Also good to see Corey Hart rip one. I mean, hit a homer. The way Prince swung the bat this weekend, I would say he's back. Or at least nearly back to what we all expected of him. Nice job by Bush, too. He only had 60 pitches thru 5 innings. Too bad he lost his quality start. Conor Jackson seperated his shoulder trying to tag Prince after scooping the low throw to first. Well, that should do it for seeing the Crew in person for another year, unless some miracle brings me to Wisconsin in the next couple of months.
