  1. Kottaras with a bomb? When it rains it pours! Who was that prognosticating genius before the series in PITT started? And That? Casey?
  2. nice to hear Prince getting some solid contact today. And with that, my gameday audio just conked out. What the hay? edit: must just be Brewers, because I can still get Pirates (boring) audio
  3. I'm at work so not watching the game, but in Brian's defense, I seem to recall that the press box in Pittsburgh is WAY up there (above the upper deck seats) so it may be harder for him to tell if it's crushed or just a lazy pop due to the abnormal height difference from where he usually would be sitting. But, again, I'm not watching the game so I won't know until I get home tonight.
  4. yeah, I was going to suggest getting the ballpark and "crashing" some tailgate parties. When I say "crash" them, I mean walk through the parking lot, be sociable (but not an annoying know-it-all road fan) and kind, and introduce yourself as an out-of-towner to groups that look like they have similar interests (i.e. music, games, etc.) as you. Most groups will let you join them and offer you a beer/brat/burger/whatever. Plus, you can get some good conversation going, play some bean bag toss, and get many more post-game/Milwaukee area ideas of things to do. The other posts are all good ideas, too.
  5. that Superman dive reminded me of when Jason Kendall did it for the Pirates back in April of 1996 (?). He jumped right over Ramon Hernandez of the catcher to score a run. Great play! Unfortunately, I can't find a video of it.
  6. I've got the game on Directv 657 here in Arizona, for what it's worth. Bush is pitching pretty well . . . again. Wonder if a bullpen member will blow this one too. Or will Bush completely lose it in the 5th ala Doug Davis? Gosh, I hope not.
  7. Hopefully, he didn't tear it during an untuckem' episode. Get well, Cam-dog!
  8. okay, this is getting ridiculous! Who mixed up my Milwaukee Brewers with the New York Yankees? And are the Mets and Cardinals taking notes?
  9. May 12, 2001 AJ Burnett no hits the Padres. But issues 9 bases on balls. http://www.baseball-alman.../boxscore/05122001.shtml
  10. I love the fact that there is a High School baseball game at Busch after this game is over. Awesome! edit: There's no way Pujols pitches with having elbow surgery during the off-season. Oh, and Jaime Garcia looked dang good. Again. On National TV. Again. Maybe it wasn't just us.
  11. how about 26 innings? I'd love that. Pretty hard to do, though, with position players pitching for STL.
  12. I don't think the decisions were all that bad. The difference that I see between Yost and Macha is that when things go sour the former would looked peeved and try to do something about it (sometimes) while the latter just looks around the dugout with a dumb incredulous look on his face. Seriously, tonight and in Chicago the other day, he had the look of, "who the . . ? What the . . . ? What am I supposed to do? I can't believe this is happening . . . ."
  13. I'm calling "shenanigans" on the grounds crew. McClelland already called for the tarp and they're all just "dumpty-doodling" along the first base line "pretending" to look for the head guy. Come on, we all know you're hoping the Nats score and THEN you'll put the tarp on.
  14. Just got a phone call from the regional manager in Phoenix. He received a call from corporate stating how unhappy they were that a good paying customer of theirs was not happy etc. etc. He said that things are being done to rectify the situation, starting with extending my interest-free payments from 18 months to 36 months. Also, another rep will be contacting me in the next week about some "vouchers" they will be honoring (sounds like some free gift cards/certificates) once they send them out. The regional manager, Darren, was very kind about it and very apologetic. He sincerely apologized for the way I was treated and said there was probably more to come. He also said that the next time I'm in the area, to give him a call (gave me his personal cell number!) and he'd take care of me personally. Sounds like a mafia hit, but I'm taking it as a positive sign. Okay, so this doesn't "bug" me, but I thought I'd at least update you readers.
  15. Ha! Ha! Nice! That was well worth $20 I'd say!
  16. the only thing I got today from watching the game off the DVR when I got home was the way the game reminded me of the end of "Three Amigos" with everyone wearing the same jersey. You watch the game in fast forward and say, "all right! A hit by #42! Hey, another hit by #42!! What the heck is going on here? These #42's are all over the place!!!!" It just reminded me of the end of that movie for some reason. Made my wife laugh, at least.
  17. yes, I would agree with this this. Unfortunately, it doesn't work the same way that it does for us. You know, when the Brewers play some AAAA rookie in his debut or a guy with an 0-8 record and 8.97 ERA in 80+ IP. And then we all lick our chops for a big win. And then we get shutout on 2 hits. Just doesn't work that way with Suppan for other teams, now does it?
  18. oh, boy. Ueck just said that the wind is "howling out" today. Looks like one of those 14-13 barnburners could be on tap.
  19. congrats, Blancofan1! That's pretty awesome news!
  20. just got finished watching my tivo-ed ballgame and I have to respectfully disagree with posts that I read 2+ hours ago while at work. I thought Hawkins did a good job in the 8th inning. He made some real good pitches to those batters while runners were on base but before the runs scored. I will give the Cubs hitters the credit for hanging tough and using good defensive swings and fouling balls away to remain alive. Yes, I'm serious here--no blue font necessary. I don't like cheering for the Cubs any more than the next guy on this board, but those batters did their job to prolong their at-bats and get the pitch they wanted (or get a pitch out of the zone.) Hawkins started to lose it as the inning went on and on, of course, but reading the posts on here made it sound like he was Mitch Williams or something and throwing the ball all over the place and to the backstop and what not. And that simply was not happening until the last couple of batters of the inning. I will agree with posters that he should have been taken out, though. A set-up man putting 39-40 pitches in a single frame of duty is not good news. Oh, well. We'll get 'em tomorrow! (heck, it worked on Saturday night when I posted that.)
  21. Tyler Colvin on deck. Why am I sensing an AB like Fukudome had on Opening Day a couple of years ago to tie the game? Gosh, I hope I'm wrong. We don't need another Cub folk hero.
  22. Midwest was always our airline of choice from Vegas to Milwaukee when we would go back home. Kind of disappointing. As for the cookies and commercials, I liked 'em. As others have said, they are pretty much the only thing that was left from the original Midwest Airlines experience. It was always nice to be in the middle of your flight and you're tired out from sitting on the plane and then you could start to smell the cookies--always made us perk up and remind us why we like flying with them. The service was unpecable. Plus, for some reason, Midwest pilots knew how to land in Vegas smoothly. Every other airline I've flown into Vegas has had trouble with the cross breezes and air currents over the East Vegas Mountains so it would be very bumpy and usually very side-to-side-ish. Not Midwest. Clean as a whistle every time.
  23. I appreciate the changes to the auction for this season. Alas, this is a summer that we are not planning on leaving the heat of Arizona to visit the humidity of Wisconsin. But I appreciate the effort. Good luck to all those bidding on the seats!
  24. yeah, the Cards came back from a 7-2 deficit last night, so 8-1 (now 8-4) is definitely possible, too. Hoping to see some magic on gameday for the next hour or two.
  25. We were blessed with awesomeness out of Hoffman's arm last season. The year before, however, he had given up something like 8-9 HR in his final year with San Diego. So, this isn't unprecedented at all. I wouldn't be surprised if something is wrong with Trevor, though. Either physically (i.e. stiffness) or psychologically (i.e. Stavinoa's HR got in his head and he feels a bit anxious to throw changeups.) Perhaps, the changeup just wasn't working for him in the bullpen and he decided to ditch it last night since it was just hanging on every pitch. Maybe he got laughed at during the annual MLB Closers Convention during the winter because his fastball is only mid-80s and he's trying to prove the doubters wrong--and failing.
