  1. I feel terrible for Galarraga and Joyce. But major kudos to both--Galarraga for not blowing up and just smiling it off; Joyce for owning up and admitting. And major kudos to Galarraga after the game saying that everyone makes mistakes and basically shrugging it off. I wish I could use this as an example of sportsmanship, etc. in my classroom, but elementary students, for the most part, would be "who cares?" and/or not get the point.
  2. I saw that the other day. No wonder, though, since his teammates didn't let him get to the plate and bonked into him, causing him to lose his balance and somehow break it. I'm all for walk-off celebrations but I never, EVER understood the bashing and whapping the guy who homered as he crosses the plate. It was only a matter of time before something like this happened. I'm surprised more players haven't received concussions the way they are whacked across the noggin.
  3. uh, LG BD-570 I believe. It also has wi-fi capability and Netflix streaming among other stuff. Awesome player!
  4. you know, I wasn't all that disappointed that Macha left Narveson in there. He was at exactly 100 pitches, throwing well overall (although clearly was tiring), and just needed one more out. Plus, he'd gone 120 pitches a couple times already. And the Marlins had done pretty much nothing all afternoon. To me, this is an example of it just not working out this time. I'll live. At least he made the move after the homer and a double when it was CLEAR that Narveson was done instead of trying to get one more batter. Eh, it's tied. Guess I'll check the hot dogs. It's a beautiful day. I'm not going to let this ruin my day.
  5. I'm guessing motivated, since they returned the favor (sorta) today by shutting out the Phils by that same 1-0 score.
  6. @ FLA 1-2 @ STL 2-1 VS CHC 2-1 VS TEX 1-2 @ LAA 1-2 @ COL 0-3 VS MIN 3-0 VS SEA 3-0 VS HOU 2-1 Tie Breaker: Hart HRs + Wolf Wins + Braun SBs = My prediction: 15 - 12 Tie Breaker: 2 + 2 + 5 = 9
  7. this probably doesn't help you in this specific case, but yesterday my LG blu-ray player had an update installed that allowed one to link the blu-ray player to their MLB.tv account for instant streaming right to your television. I'm not a subscriber (I have Extra Innings thru Directv) but it's an intriguing option for next year.
  8. Wow! I feel like Lloyd Christmas. "Oh, here's my guess! 17-11. I was WAY off!"
  9. I can't even get gameday audio. It keeps saying "archived audio available soon". I had MLB.tv for free for the top of the first but once they went to commercial it went bye-bye
  10. missed it due to a staff luncheon after the students were gone. This was the biggest swing of emotions I've had in quite a while.
  11. friggin' awesome! I loved every minute of it. Didn't need the tissues either as I began to realize that 24 would be continuing in movie form (likely). Still, sad that it is over. For now. Oh, and I loved the countdown clock to end the series rather than just counting to the top of the hour.
  12. aw, come on, man! You're giving my wife secrets of how to beat me! Ten years of playing scrabble with her and I'm undefeated! Same with Upwords. And she always wonders out-loud how she is a teacher of gifted students that always loses to her music teaching husband.
  13. Just wondering out loud, does that mean that every human in the flash-sideways life are dead and they're all just waiting to "flash" with their loved ones that were most important in their life? The nurses? The airport delivery guy? Everybody? And why didn't Jack and Juliet "flash" when they were married in the flash-sideways life? Or is it only applicable with the people that mean the most to you? (i.e. Jack flashed on Kate AND his father, Sayid on Shannon but not Nadia, Locke on being able to walk again, Charlie and Claire, etc.) I still loved the ending and I thought it was about as perfect as you can make it without making it a 6-hour episode explaining everything. I like that I can have discussions with others on what was left unanswered, too, even though it is semi-annoying that they didn't answer them on the show. But, whatever. It's a TV show. I'll move on. Although, I might have to buy the complete set of Blu-Rays in August. Special features and extras could answer some things. My wife wants to see outtakes, if they have them, since they all say there shenanigans on the set.
  14. 6 hours to go! Can't wait! I've heard you might need tissues for the last few minutes.
  15. so, when dying Jack sees the plane flying overhead, assuming that everything on the island did happen, did the people on the plane then survive in real-life? I don't get that part at all. Does this mean that Desmond was the angel of death, telling everybody about their real lives on the island? I have a LOT more questions that weren't answered tonight, although I'm satisfied with the way it ended. I just wish there were more answers for us. Might have to buy some of those LOST novellas that have been proposed by the producers.
  16. Mark pretty much reiterated this information during the 3rd inning of the game on TV. They're not looking at making changes in management at this time. Semi-disappointing but, like Mark said, when he first bought the team they started 24-10 and then fizzled so it's a loooonnnngggg season and a lot can still happen.
  17. thanks for posting the spoiler in a "drop-down" so those of us that don't want to see it, didn't. Peavey, I could see that happening or something like it that could lead into the 24 Movie that is rumored.
  18. yeah, easily the over on that one. Has anybody seen any odds on what happens to Jack by the end of the episode? I'd be curious to see those. Monday can't get here fast enough!
  19. that does look like an awesome game! too bad it's not coming out for us PC owners.
  20. Yeah, I pounced. A bit pricey for a refurb but they are good quality robots and usually refurbs are just as good as new (sometimes better).
  21. wow. I'm kind of shocked that they did some revealing of answers with the "A Very Special Fireside Chat with Jacob" scenes. I thought for sure they'd hold off on those until the finale. Even so, a very pleasing episode, very solid. Should be a great finale. Are we to assume that Richard is dead? He just got flung by smokie and that's all we saw.
  22. Link please? (edit: sorry, not baiting here. Just couldn't finish my statement as I had to run an errand and I accidentally pushed the post button.) I think most of us predicted that Hoffman would have an off year, or at least not as great as last season. But an utter and complete collapse? Into the 3rd week in May???? Still no improvement???? I don't buy that for a second. Even the writers and scribes that over the winter, stated that Melvin overpaid for another year of Hoffman are sitting there puzzled that he has been THIS terrible.
  23. was it a sword? I thought it was one of those poker sticks from the fireplace. But I could be wrong. Yeah, I said this a couple weeks ago, they are going for broke on this show and, even if it is unbelievable, it . . . is . . . AWESOME!! The finale is going to be great! Tony Almeda is still alive and a rogue individual right now. Maybe he shows up? I wonder if Jack dies or just goes to prison? Or does he escape custody? Too many possibilities! I'm going to miss this show when it's gone.
  24. why send Zaun on that? Weeks has been struggling, for sure, but still. I wouldn't take the chance of sending a slow runner against a good arm, even if "a perfect throw was the only thing that would get him." (yes, nobody said that, but I hear about it all the time.) Well, guys with a good arm make a perfect throw fairly often and Fischer should know this before sending a slow runner.
  25. I won't get to see a portion of this game, so I'm hoping the Brewers can hang some runs up on Cueto before I get home. Of course, with Gallardo going, it'll be a 1-0 final in favor of one team or the other.
