  1. Random thoughts. 1. I didn’t see the deal coming but I’m not disappointed. In hindsight, it shouldn’t have been surprising. 2. Stearns got taken to the cleaners on Grisham. It is what is. I’m still a huge Stearns fan. He’s got us as a perpetually relevant franchise with actual expectations. 3. Stearns cut his losses. Urias defensively didn’t look like the answer at shortstop. It’s not just the errors. He just doesn’t look like he’s got good range and feel for a demanding position athletically. 4. I hope Urias starts every time we face a southpaw. Offensively, he’s been streaky but he’s a young guy who could be figuring it out. I hope he can play third capably and be a solid utility guy. 5. I’m a draft and prospect guy. You guys see me posting in both sub-forums. So, I can say fairly that I was always a huge Rasmussen fan. But you can’t get a guy like Adames for nuttin’. We had to give up value. 6. I think Adames is considerably better than a lot of posters are pretending. This is a guy who has a good pedigree and talent. He was a highly regarded prospect who was widely anticipated as he was coming up. 7. As far as I’m concerned, Stearns saw that we are a mess and he’s taking action. He acted decisively rather than sink deeper like he’s in quicksand.
  2. Good article on Colson Montgomery, who I mentioned previously. He sounds like an ideal prospect for Milwaukee. https://www.lookoutlanding.com/2021/5/17/22439025/2021-mlb-draft-scouting-report-colson-montgomery
  3. The offense is purely pathetic and unacceptable. Get Zach Green up here and see what he’s got. Offer Braun beaucoup bucks to play a partial year. This isn’t all Yelly being hurt. You can’t put an obese first baseman into the three hole and surround him with a bunch of ragamuffins and expect to win. Shaw looks chubby compared to 2018. Jackie Bradley Jr sounds more like a Seinfeld character than a regular player. They are squandering some big time pitching. That cannot happen. These lineups are a laughingstock and they need to get creative and figure out a solution. Acquisitions like Bradley and Garcia have failed spectacularly. Their stubborn reticence to draft corner infielders high in the draft is now proving to be catastrophic. Ditto for their foreign signings. You look at mock drafts and we are linked to a 5’10 shortstop. Possibly a good Punch and Judy guy but not remotely what we need to be doing. Yet it’s predictable. They can look at trading anyone not named Mitchell, Perez or Kelly. That still leaves ammo to make a deal. Our corner infielders are fat and slow. It’s not working. It’s gotten to the point that hitting .230 with an OPS of .680 doesn’t sound too bad for a corner infielder. The thought process with roster construction is totally ridiculous.
  4. One guy who I hope we target is Colson Montgomery. He’s coming out of high school and has played shortstop at around 6’4. He looks like he will obviously outgrow shortstop and will be a natural third baseman. He should be available with our supplemental A pick. In addition to his measurables and high level of skill, he’s a big time athlete. He has excelled at baseball, basketball (guard) and football (QB). He picked baseball. I think he profiles really well. He’s the type of prospect we’ve eschewed in the past. Frankly it’s been a significant, not minor, mistake. I hope we have somebody pounding the table for him and go get a kid like this. We don’t need another 5’10 shortstop or left fielder with limited pop.
  5. Brewers second baseman Kolten Wong was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain on Saturday. In a corresponding move, the team selected infielder/outfielder Jace Peterson from its alternate training site.
  6. It’s not inexperience, it’s poor performance. Yardley is 31 years old and has been in the majors with two different clubs. His problem is he doesn’t have “stuff” he’s an arm action hide the ball guy. When he misses his spots and the batter knows he has to throw a strike he’s getting hit. Same deal with Rasmussen. He’s been behind on nearly every batter he’s faced. He needs to command his pitches simple as that. He missed his spot with Arenado. Sano took him deep on a 3-1 pitch, after he had issued a walk, wild pitch and a 1-1 single. Very good analysis. I couldn’t agree more although I do like Rasmussen a lot. In his case, it’s typical growing pains. I think he will work it out.
  7. I have to be honest. I heard Sobotka and immediately had Soroka on the brain.
  8. Pretty good list. One more good draft and foreign signing period, and our list should be first rate. Mitchell is on his way to being a top 20 prospect. No, guys, we are not trading him for half a year of Trevor Story. Small being ranked over Ashby looks a bit out of step. Right now, I think Ashby has surpassed Small but time will tell.
  9. I do miss not hearing him on the radio down here. I can get it on Sirius in my car but how do you get it on your phone? Publix? Where do you live? If you are a Sirius subscriber, they have a package where you can add internet Sirius for a very affordable price. It’s like an add-on. Once you have that, you can download the app onto your phone and log on that way. I use the app more than I listen in the car. Obviously you can get Bucks radio and all their other channels that way too. It is very inexpensive if you are already a subscriber in your car.
  10. Thanks for all the links, Eye Black. I read them all. This will be an interesting draft. Lot of ways it can go. I think right now House is my favorite but there is always more research.
  11. Fun fact. I wonder what percentage of our entire payroll comes from the outfield? Has to be astronomical.
  12. Thanks, guys. Any sense of where J Barrios is ranked or are they not that far along yet? Any other guys linked to Milwaukee?

  14. He hasn’t had much of a hit tool but he’s a big, athletic kid. He’s gotten better receiving and I think he’s still got a shot. This could be a big year for him. The conundrum is he’s a third catcher and out of options. Maybe we use the DL to finesse having three catchers, particularly since he’s still recovering that thumb.
  15. There’s enough upside with Peralta that I hope he’s in the rotation and that we stick with him. He’s got a lot of ability. I think we’ve got posts going into spring training last year where his slider had really emerged based on winter ball. I think Lindblom can be solid and Anderson is steady when healthy. This can be the type of rotation that’s tough to crack in a playoff environment.
  16. Good question. I was wondering the same thing. Hopefully somebody knows. Mass, do you know?
  17. Go for it. You and two other myopic people who think a mistake defines a person. It must be nice to be mistake-free so that you are free to be so judgmental. Judging the entire body of work, Ryan was great for the Brewers. Not good. Great.
  18. One year, $5 million. Win-win for everyone and let’s go. Mark A and Braun will figure out a dollar figure that works for everyone. I think he will want to play. His tank is not empty.
  19. The ball into Buehler’s ribs should be thrown by a hard throwing reliever who will never have to bat. So there’d be no way for Buehler to hit him back. I nominate Topa. Counsell will never go for it so Topa would have to do it on his own. There are pitchers that do that. I never wish ill l will on anyone because of Karma. But he was obviously not worried about that...
  20. Even if Shaw somehow reverted to 2017, which we can all hope for, he’s a stopgap. The organization badly needs a top young prospect or good young MLB player for 3B. We are likely looking at this same situation next winter too. I understand the theory of going after up the middle talent in the draft and Latin signings. The theory is some of those guys can fill out and end up on a corner. Heck Gorman Thomas and Ryan Braun were SS’s as amateurs. But the problem is we haven’t actually drafted a SS who profiles as a kid who is growing into a 3B. We have Turang, Garcia, Zamora and Cantrelle, all good prospects. But I don’t see any at 3B. Jesus Parra might be a good 3B but that’s an unknown right now. At the end of the day 3B is not up the middle, but it takes a unique skill set. You need quickness and decent range, a strong, accurate arm, and some pop. It’s a tough skill set to find and I hope we prioritize it better. My guess - we totally will. Scott Rolen’s don’t grow on trees. If we can make a deal, Jordan Groshans and Brett Baty are a couple of prospects who profile well at 3B and who’d be great to acquire if we can figure out how to do it.
  21. The other thing, maybe I’m wrong but, at this particular time, the FO seems loath to trade off any good prospects to make a move. We do not have much in the way of imminent additions outside of relievers, but over time, our lineup can potentially be jumpstarted by a number of prospects. The FO, having experienced this period where there are no reinforcements coming, probably doesn’t want this to continue in the future until we are more set with juice added by younger talent.
  22. As I posted earlier, if you couldn’t get Turner, I have thought for a long time that the FO was going to target ideally a left handed hitter to balance out Robertson, Urias and Zach Green. So, they’d take Shaw over Gjorko and so on.
  23. I would have been interested in Neuse for the Brewers. Maybe the FO wasn’t interested since they picked up Robertson as a right handed bat and they want a lefty hitter.
  24. I agree. He’s 27 already and questionable on D. They just got the kid from Oakland, Sheldon Neuse. The Dodgers’ actions speak loudly for what they think about him. To be fair to him, they could move him. Rios and Robertson might be an interesting combo. Robertson is a former top 100 prospect and people forget that. I suspect he will be a good contributor. I think we could make Rios a good target.
  25. I love how he condescends to fans questioning the Brewers not spending money because they're losing so much money and how the fans don't know what they're talking about. Sure Tom, I'm sure Mark has definitely opened the books for you. Good point. He forgets the FANS are the ones who really get him employed not the team. Having contempt for fans who create his employment is disgusting. He also seems to forget that there are fans that are considerably smarter than he is. I mean, we’ve got engineers, doctors, lawyers, high level business people etc in the fan base. It’s childish, juvenile, and unprofessional. You’re a bleeping sportswriter. Calm down with the cockiness. And he’s an apologist for the franchise. He’s afraid to ask tough questions and toes the company line. He is in their back pocket. And he’s so well regarded by the team that they feed scoops to Heyman and Rosenthal. And Murray is out hustling him now. He seems like a rising star. Tom is a mediocrity at his job.
