  1. Looks very interesting if the doctors deem his shoulder ok. I’ve read estimates of a six year, $42 M deal. I think I saw that Boras’ agency is representing him. Boras and Attanasio obviously have a relationship, so maybe they will talk. But a bidding war could ensue too. This could be one of the more intriguing stories of the offseason.
  2. I like the Perdomo move. I’m sure this was a highly targeted move. We have been good at these low risk moves. I remember being excited when we signed Michael Olmstead out of the Bosox system. I don’t think he ever saw Milwaukee. They don’t always work, but when they do, you never know, you can get a valuable piece.
  3. Great point. Initially his High A ERA got me but you’re right, on a deeper dive he’s got some good deeper stats and upside. He could be a nice weapon out of the pen at a minimum and with his tools you never know. I updated my list based on your comment. Thanks.
  4. Good analysis and I agree with your assessment of Nimmo. But if I were the Mets he’d be Exhibt A as to the type of player I’d build around. The exception would be an overpay and I wouldn’t do that.
  5. I agree with Humans. Let’s let it play out with our player development. We can still add significant juice to a strong roster if we stay the course. That group from the aughts had a shortage of new additions once the initial group from Weeks through Braun was up. With this generation, we’ve got guys we can keep adding and hopefully we can have a longer and stronger window when the cavalry keeps bringing players with upside to the MLB team. Stearns is on record as saying that Hiura has exceeded expectations defensively. For a GM who’s normally cautious with what he says, that’s a telling statement.
  6. This is not a crazy idea...JJ wasn’t injured but he was struggling and we brought him back. The guy I wish we had was Will Smith. Not every trade works out.
  7. Wilson Ramos seems like a very interesting piece for us.
  8. I see your point about Bud, and caution is prudent. But, I really think his resume speaks top drawer coach. I don't think he will try to fit square pegs into round holes. I think he knows how to use his talent. Some of the guys on the second unit are so much fun when you look at DiVicenzo, Connaughton, et al.
  9. 1. Keston Hiura 2. Corey Ray 3. Brice Turang 4. Tristen Lutz 5. Zach Brown 6. Mauricio Dubon 7. Payton Henry 8. Aaron Ashby 9. Lucas Erceg 10. Jacob Nottingham 11. Jake Gatewood 12. 10. The mode of those ages is strikingly high. Lot of risk fooling around at that level as seen with, e.g., Albers. My wish list would be a lefty arm who is not limited to loogy status. Wish we had that Will Smith trade back.
  11. I think this whole uptick in interest thing is a great point. My take is that following the Brewers was fun from the late 70s to 1992, other than a hiccup here and there (e.g., 1984 in particular). Molitor leaving and the whole decade of the 90s being a fiasco hurt interest for a decade. The drafting and player acquisition part was atrocious. Bud and Wendy sold a bill of goods that small markets couldn’t compete. Bud had an eye on the commissioner’s seat anyway and the bigger picture. So instead of selling hope, the franchise told its fans that they couldn’t win because of the economics of small market teams. It was when the stadium was built, Attanasio came in with bona fide competence, and player acquisition became competent instead of a big excuse machine, and interest flourished. Milwaukee is a great baseball town. The attendance for the size of the market is tremendous. Fan interest is spectacular now. It shows that Milwaukee was a sleeping giant.
  12. I wonder if they’d take Broxton over Grandy? Tough call. Broxton would give a defensive replacement late and maybe speed. Curtis brings a veteran presence and potential for some hits in clutch situations. You do have Perez who is versatile and could play all over in case they decide to keep Grandy. You’ve got to keep Santana. He’s been instrumental down the stretch.

  14. Agree. The suspense on Gio is killing me. Is he the stalwart we’ve seen for years and the start of the year, or is he the train wreck from the last three months? If he finishes strong, I could see trying to re-sign him for a deal commensurate with a 33 year old.
  15. Thanks, Greg. I appreciate the comment.
  16. This is a great conversation. Everybody is different but I was going to make the Nelson comp too. I like him in this role for now. His live arm can be a real factor. I’ve said it before but, while Peralta is basically a one pitch pony, he typically has good movement and keeps hitters off balance. I think Woodruff needs to learn how to get hitters off balance more. I didn’t see it but four scoreless against Washington sure was nice. If any starter gets into trouble early, he can jump in. I don’t know that he’s ready for Hader leverage but he can be a nice piece. He was critical to winning that Sunday game where Guerra couldn’t get through the early frames. It’s great having a guy like that. That was a highlight.
  17. Fair enough. Hamels reportedly had a high SAT but signed out of high school, so while naturally bright I’m not sure if he went to college on the side. If you view college as a means to make money, you’d think he didn’t need college. If you view college as a way to become educated, learn how to think, observing and learning from others not just like you, etc, you would think college is an essential element in enriching your life. He might have learned about concepts like market size, how the Cubs built a large fan base through cable and their brand, etc.
  18. Of course it is. It’s out of the Madden playbook. He had Lackey do it about Thames last year.
  19. 1. It’s a classless comment. 2. He should study market size and how well the Brewers do at the gate relative to market size. 3. Number of Cub fans at Miller Park is disconnected with whether it’s a rivalry. 4. There are many reasons for why Cub fans go to Milwaukee. He should study the reasons before being a JA. 5. He wanted to take a shot at Mikwaukee, an organization that didn’t pony up for him so he’s a bit hurt. 6. A little class by a millionaire ballplayer never hurt anyone.
  20. He would find this thread predictable as he condescendingly announced that “they aren’t going to like this.” Must be great to be a superior human being. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.yahoo.com/amphtml/sports/boom-roasted-cole-hamels-absolutely-223328552.html
  21. I’m going to wager that the Brewers make a Yelich level trade this offseason, but for a high upside pitcher. Someone like Syndergaard. Maybe they sign a second guy, like a Gio if he shows anything the rest of the way. Gio can be better than Quintana. But, at 32 he’s a risky proposition. I don’t know if you can get him on a three year deal. Nelson is a big question mark but he’s possibly a third addition. We can look at stats all day long, but our starters aren’t good enough.
  22. Gracias, Angel. ¿Cómo te hiciste fanático de los cerveceros? ¿Dónde vives? estamos felices de tener fanáticos de los cerveceros de todo el mundo. apreciamos tu entusiasmo. Los mejores deseos.
  23. Very disappointing to come home from a long day at work, turn this on, and see we’ve been getting smoked. I didn’t see the beginning but it sounds like this should be it for Guerra as far as the rotation goes. It might not stop the fade, but you have to give yourself a chance. I’d love to know what the Reds wanted for Harvey. I am going to assume they were unreasonable.
  24. Has anyone seen Pina’s numbers over the last couple of months? Not a rhetorical question, I honestly would like to know. I bet his numbers are pretty solid and akin to his 2017 start.
  25. Love it. That makes too much sense.
