  1. Hockey's first "Basketball" Crossover Allen Iverson style. Go America!
  2. Implement this please! Yelich, Yelich, Yelich, Yelich. Unlimited Pinch runners for Yelich. I want to see a batter reach 1000 PAs in a season. For the Yankees it's be Stanton/Judge/Stanton/Judge... 100 HRs by one of them at end of the season. (Blue)
  3. I'm with you there on Stokes, maybe not quite Harrison forgetting, but he's that "too short," "Not first 2 rounds" prospect that will just be underrated until he's played a year at the ML level above expectations. Where are we going to hear about Braun playing 1b in ST games! Hope he fits there.
  4. I much prefer to follow the analytical evaluation than the crap “prestige” evaluation by Boras. "Prestige" is useless if he can't pitch like an ace. Boras, please be informed that "prestige" don't win championships, teams should only be paying $100M if they think he can pitch like an ace in most of the duration of the contract. After reading the article, I think the Brewers should not offer Arrieta a $100M contract, the most I'd offer is 4/80. I've always been curious if you won't do 5/100mil (20mil aav) Then why do 20mil AAV and offer 1 year less? I feel like you are telling the player you will pay him 20mil per year and he's worth that. So to the Player why not hold out for the 5th year? All it takes is 1 to go that 5th year. If I were saying no to his 5/100 ask, I'd drop my offer to 4/74mil. 19/19/18/18. We're not paying you 20mil a year for even 4 years. So why would we do 5? You want a 5 year contract with an opt out after 2? 20/20- 17/15/15. You may want to accept that deal, while I'm still even giving you that option.
  5. OK, I'm willing to play the Pirates. How about throwing 4-6 names out there as the "low level prospect" you'd be willing to include. I'll do it for him. Burnes or Hiura. Erceg or Lutz with the Woodruff/Ortiz and Grisham over Ray. yeah Maybe that doesn't get hung up on. This is a top 10 prospect-ACE ceiling trading within the division. I may have to toss Grisham/Ray and put Peralta on the offer. Or it's Burnes/Hiura, Erceg, Woodruff/Ortiz and Lutz or Peralta. Understand his AAA ERA in 245IP is 1.95. All it takes is for him to reduce his BBs/9 at the ML level and he'll be a TOR starter from that day forward. Like I said, this is Max Scherzer in the making. Edit. I want to add that his AAA BB/9 were 3.1. I'm very certain as I owned him in Fantasy, this better BB rate occurred as he began pitching strictly from the stretch. The results in AAA last year show what I am talking about becoming a Scherzer future.
  6. He's still available. So are the big SPs we've talked to. I think in Walker's signing, it hinders on the SP signed and for how much. You pay an Arrieta 22mil/year, is filling your 2b for 8mil or more a year doable? The team may only have 8-10mil cap to work with after that and would saving that money be better for a mid-season trade over a penny pinch mid-season trade? 8million now or a 14-18million guy with under 8million left on the year?
  7. Glasnow's value if I put in relation to Milw would be the idea to trade Hader but two times Hader's value. Glasnow would be like Max Scherzer given up in trade. Why trade away Cole? He's not an Ace level pitcher, more expensive near ending of contract. Another below expectations season and his trade value while costing more equals poor garbage return.
  8. Interesting. I'd wonder on Ponce over Ray. Probably Lutz over Ortiz. The C+ amounts are something to gawk at. I mean, what were these numbers each of the past 5 years? I guess 5 years ago we didn't even have a total of 12 guys A-C+ I mean is it really 25 C+ or 25 total C grades? Outstanding talent almost a full 40man roster to be average or better. So searching inside the forum, this comment for post 2015. We had a lot of B- but only 25 total on C+ or better. https://www.minorleagueball.com/2015/12/2/9814812/milwaukee-brewers-top-20-prospects-for-2016 MudVille said: Just a quick comparison, but in 2016 we have 16 prospects B- or better. In 2015 we had nine. We will see how things go in the future, but I'd say the rebuild is going swimmingly right now. If we hit on a good return for Lucroy we may have over 20 B- or better next year this time with hopefully five or six in the Top 100. Looking forward to the 2018 and 2019 Milwaukee Brewers. In case you are curious we had only 5 B- or better in 2014. last season link: https://www.minorleagueball.com/2017/1/17/14297686/milwaukee-brewers-top-20-prospects-for-2017 28 total grade C+ or better. So overall we are deeper, but the higher grades have dwindled somewhat. Lots of C+ but Bs and A aren't aplenty.
  9. Yeah if it's filled with C+ Sickels guys with upside, anything can lead to a big jump.
  10. I mean, all three achieved that last season. Maybe not in start totals, but it had to have been close. Cain and Yelich yes. Santana 139 starts/ 12 sub in games. You gotta expect the best and not plan just for the worst. You have depth beyond likely any single ML team for OF. Cain goes down to injury, you have to fill CF with Phillips or Broxton. Yelich I think is going to be a steady every-day starter. Santana then gets Thames the extra games when Braun plays for him. You also have the expectations to this team vs. last season. You're going in to every game thinking you are a playoff built team. The team needs you to play. Missing a game or two in a row for a bruise or rolled ankle isn't as likely. Last season, it was all just safety precaution, you don't need to force an injury upon someone. Braun missed 5 games in last 46 of season. 4/45 not counting last unimportant game. Santana it was 6 of final 61 games not counting last game. 2 of those games was a rest day given to both on same day.
  11. I think Thames ends up lucky to start 70games without significant Braun injury. If we roll with Braun at 1st base, hes 100games started there easily. I cant take a Healthy Braun and sit him 30+ games. I think games where the RH starter carries a great Slider Thames jumps Braun on those starts. I have my doubts if Braun becomes the 1b on him sharing time in the OF as its thrown on here. Pencil in Yelich 154 games. Santana&Cain in the 150 range. Phillips the rest. Braun only comes in if either of those 3are out and facing a Lefty you hide Phillips from. Thames youre paid so dont complain when you start less than 70games. Youll pinch hit/be a defensive replacement constantly.
  12. My guess would be Aguilar dealt and Villar waived....especially on the line being Walker signed 10% Aguilar had the highest exit velocity on hits for all of the Brewers bats. So I don't think his regression will be as much as folks think. He's poor defensively and Right Handed, so with Santana staying, Braun to 1st makes him easy expendable. Thames on the better side of Platoon with OF capability(he'd be like 7th in list!) makes him more flexible. Villar is hit on defensive liabilities. While his bat has potential, you're negating some of the bat always on defense. .293OB last year is the nail in the coffin. Keep with Sogard and his OB bat for lower 3 of an order(where Villar's speed won't play as much) Perez Platoon with him since your OF is set. Dubon on call when injury occurs. Villar will likely make a season here or there where this idea was bad, but we are crunched with better players vying time. Sogard isn't better with bat, but defensively he makes the likely plays over Villar's poorer rates of Likely. Show some pitches battle for a walk and don't lose games defensively. And then we still have Walker hanging out there to be the better of the two.
  13. He only threw 141 innings last year for starters. FIP was 3.58 and his xFIP was 4.33. Some pretty good fortune as far as fly balls not translating into HRs. My 3.75 ERA prediction is much kinder than ZIPS and other predictions. I don't think not believing in Chase Anderson as a top 10 pitcher in the league is crazy. Obviously I still believe he'll be at least an above average pitcher. 3.75 ERA is pretty good for a starter these days. I believe he is including the IP at end of 2016 with overall 2017. A "Longer" Sample. TJ is right, from the get go Anderson's better performance was the result of uptick in Velocity across the board for him. Full 1 to 1.6MPH on his main 4 pitches. There's the other side of velocity equation. Speaking of a #1 or 2 who's velocity ticks down and becoming #3 type results(Arrieta) Well Chase upticked from a #3/4 to a #2 borderline 1.5. Just a response, as this seems to have gotten lost amid the HH "Odds" post
  14. I mean, you're right about him not being that true superstar type, and you don't give up 3 guys in their prime who had 3-4 WAR last year for a guy like him. But you're kind of missing the whole point, which is that McKenzie probably is that kind of prospect. You don't even mention him, which makes me wonder if you realize the original suggestion was McKenzie + Mejia for Santana, Shaw, and Knebel - an outside the box suggestion I made precisely because I agree that Mejia alone is not enough for 2 of those guys, let alone 3 of them. I see Mejia as a little more valuable than 1 of those guys and McKenzie about as valuable as 2 of them and I'd pull the trigger if it were up to me, but it's a win-win either way because of the great work Stearns has done. Anything less than Buster Posey or Neck Tattoo status, make Mejia a bust on your trade proposal. McKenzie is 2 or more years from a ML team. Remove 10WAR of players for 0 WAR return is just stupid. Calling it flat out as it is. Posey Mejia is not .796 OPS vs .969OPS. Neck Tattoo he is not 29% CS vs 45% CS. Heck, Lucroy was .835OPS and 42% CS in the minors(never top 100 rank) Why Mejia is in the top 10-20 of prospects is so confusing, but it happens to be where he's at. Now, the number of top 20 catchers over the years actually being good has been absolutely disgusting results. Travis D'Arnaud, Mike Zunino, Gary Sanchez, Jorge Alfaro, and Austin Hedges. Mejia had an epic hitting streak and he's riding such a wave of expectations but look, Catchers are terrible. They take a beating. Their seasons go inconsistent unless you're Buster Posey. There's nothing to Mejia's minors stats that resembles he's a Buster Posey in the making. O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D. McKenzie may well turn out to be a TOR. But he's 2 years away on his current Arc with maybe 1+ and Starts during the 2019 season. Elite RP+ 2 EveryDay starter worthy ML players aren't being sold off for 2 Prospects. I said I'd maybe part with Kneble for these 2. That's typically how trades work. a ML player=2 or more prospects. You're taking AS type of players in '17 and trading 3 of them for 2 prospects. I'd guess if this was offered to Cleveland, they'd say here's Kipnis and all the money he's paid, done thanks suckers.
  15. Lorenzo Cain says Hi. For his Defensive positives, he certainly didn't get nabbed up early in FA. There just has to be something more behind Dickerson being shuttled from.
  17. SRB I recall you said Archer throws a third pitch, a changeup. Career avg was 7.8% 8% last year. 11-something his highest in '16. So, 8 pitches out of 100 in a game. That would mean at least 1 batter never sees a changeup. I'd expect he uses it when he's facing a Lefty so only LHBs see this 3rd pitch. It's not something where 92% of pitches thrown are going to be FB or Slider to actually prep in your head during an AB. Sit back on a flatter thrown FB and crush it. That's the style of hitters these days. HR or K types...Look at us. Yes that Slider leads to a lot of Ks, but he's hit hard and that's due to his FB and the hitters of today. Miller Park is a top 5-8 Hitter's ballpark. Archer will not succeed as well here as he has in Tampa keeping the ball in the ballpark. So he'll give us a lot of 6IP 4Hits 2 BBs 10Ks 3ER lines. And the post game will typically go, Chris made 2 mistakes in an otherwise great game pitched. He has a Career ERA+ of 108 and it was 101 last season and 100 the season before that. What gets him in the top 20 of Pitcher's rankings is that he's pitching 200innings with his stats and Ks. You are accumulating more value the more stats you put up. 19-31 last two seasons 4 ERA both seasons. And it's not an Offense not scoring runs problem because it's close to what they were scoring during their 90+win streak. He's over-rated on value in trade cost. Lance Lynn here no one wants a part of but his career ERA+ is 114 with 124 last season(post TJ season) 129 the year he pitched before TJ and 133 the previous. He's a 200IP likely starter on he has an 8-ish k/9 vs flashy 10+ for Archer. Interesting, FG lists him 81% FB but then below it shows a split of Fourseam and Sinker which they apparently don't differentiate from. Along with 3rd pitch Cutter. 4th and 5th pitches are just a 2 or 3 a game so not much going on there. Anyways a career 3.38 ERA with Fip at 3.64. Still I'm amazed he's not so much a target and really puked against here because of 1 outlier Fip last season. He's 16months older than Archer. Now he's an age decline but 1 year younger makes Archer a worthwhile A, B, B, B prospect worthy when he doesn't outperform his Fip. Edit quick stat. Career Home HR/9 .82 Away 1.16 Home .86 Away 1.6 last season. So again Ballpark factor concerns extreme.
  18. Why would Cleveland do that? Knebel isn't that proven of a reliever and he is about to get more expensive. So many posts have happened since this but CoolHandluke no blue font. A good season by Thornburg netted Shaw, Dubon, Josh Pennington, and an 18yr old lottery ticket. 67 IP 2.15 ERA 2.83 Fip 5.1Hits/9 0.8HR/9 3.4BBs/9 12.1k/9 ERA+199 4 years of control Knebel last year 76IP 1.78 ERA 2.53Fip 5.7Hits/9 0.7HR/9 4.7BBs/9 14.9K/9 ERA+248! 5 years of control. Cody Allen and Andrew Miller lost Bryan Shaw. Both have 1 year left on contract. Cleveland is about to have a hole at the end of their Bullpen. Knebel performed at an Aroldis Chapman level last year, with 5 years of control remaining. A Rental trade of Chapman Acquired Torres a top 10 prospect, Billy Mckinley who was top 100 at that time, a throw in and a lottery ticket. Half a season-No QO ability. Knebel has that beat right now by quite a lot without a criminal charge against him like Chapman's 1st trade. There's the Ken Giles trade which worked for Houston last year. Appel/Velasquez a SP prospect and RP prospect. There's your maybe deal. Appel is out of baseball, Velasquez was well regarded top 100 and he's still working on becoming that hype(something I see McKenzie being) Now we aren't even getting the 2 other prospects. Knebel is such a help to this team, I'd think idea of Mejia/McKenzie would hurt us for the next 2 years at minimum before the team receives the rewards from Mejia or McKenzie. Name off top RPs who can post Knebel stats of last season? Kimbrel, Miller, and Jansen? Chapman didn't have as good a year. Giles? Maybe Osuna? A well regarded, not ML ready Catcher and an A Ball thus far SP prospect has a lot to go before making a team that's trying to compete now. Cleveland would solve a huge future hole and elite loss to a WS competing roster. That's plenty of time to find replacements for Mejia/McKenzie while immediately making WS bound seem likely.
  19. No, you need to re-evaluate your methods of player evaluation. Am I doing it right? Archer's future doesn't look bright. He's showing lots of signs of age-related regression. Trading multiple good prospects for him would be a terrible idea. It's probably the worst option available. No, you're not doing it right. Point me to the age-related regression, please. Archer set a career high in K/9, posted the second-lowest BB/9 of his career, slightly improved on his xFIP, set a career high in K-BB%, all while batters posted a .325 BABIP vs him, the highest mark against Archer in his career, which is to blame for his career-worst 4.07 ERA. Which is where I'm guessing you made the "age-related regression" assumption. More or less that is accountable because hitters' avg exit velocity were near 90mph when ML avg just over 87 last year. HRs line drives. Not ground balls. He's a two pitch pitcher and players lock and load on his FB. He's never going to beat his FiP when allows such hard contact. I don't want to spend the hours of time to list top pitchers and exit velocity but the Brewers didn't have one last year(of current SPs) above the League avg 87+. Woodruff was in the mid 83 range. That's soft contact/ground ball tendency vs Fly ball/HR tendency. =BABIP lower vs higher.
  20. Id ask for Mejia and McKenzie for Kneble...maybe.
  21. I'm not sure it will affect teams as much as we think. Was there anything posted about what the average visits to the mound by teams were last season? I'm for a limit though. It'll be played out like the replays where coaches hold out in the early goings to save the visits later in the game. But when working on ways to cut down the time to play a game and it's risen 10mins in last two years? So maybe this is the biggest culprit. The Righty/Lefty/Righty matchup is where I see this being a problem. I had the idea that a RP when used must be used for 2 batters unless his 1 batter pitched to leads to end of the inning. Maybe MLB can come up with if a 2nd pitching change occurs within the same inning(not due to injury) the RP is not given any warmup throws. Or a plan where if you are going to use the R/L 1 batter switch, the 2nd pitcher has to leave the bullpen and go in to the dugout for the change of pitchers. So when the Pitching change is about to occur that pitcher is walking out to the mound with the Coach/manager. Gets 30secs to warmup and go. The one pitch outings just kill me. So and so comes in 1 pitch gets his man out and now is being replaced with a Lefty for... I'm also for a pitch clock. Screen above the umpires head counting down. Quit shaking off the catcher, stepping off the mound and resetting yourself. I know to some 10-15min longer games isn't a problem, but this was a reduction process 2 years ago on batters and games have increased 10mins. Say 25k fans per game attendance and it's 375,000 people on a night. Games are broadcast on tv/internet with the advertising for a slotted amount of time. Next show has it's advertising or another game is supposed to be broadcast and the 1st game goes 9 innings and takes 1-2 innings from the 2nd game. The NFL gets away with it as their after 1st game coverage/analysis will just be shortened. We have 2mins for highlights and go to are 2nd game coverage. Or if the game was quick, they give bonus coverage to an on-going game or spend 2-3 minutes talking about a game or incident as filler. I'd just like to see the average be 2:50. It's not. Implementing the intentional walk, didn't make games quicker apparently last year.
  22. Welcome new poster. In regards to Santana high BaBip, he had the 2nd highest avg exit velocity on the team with the bat. He was listed in 16 near the top I recall on hardest hit velocity on some HRs. I think that translates to having a higher BaBiP. You listed a 31% k rate last 2 seasons but 29% last season. So 4% improvement? You would think he can slide it down to 27% then this year or at the least keep it below 30%. He's entering his prime so I expect good-great years moving forward. I would be more concerned if he were approaching 30 with his behind the numbers, and being a big decline candidate. Remember he's taller, so he has leverage on his side (see Judges' s rookie year) Whether last year is on his ceiling type of stats or not, I think he's likely to ride that wave with those stats for awhile like Early Braun. My only concern with him moving forward is health and avoiding injuries. He has just a lumbering kind of stride and at some point leg injuries may follow. Doesnt matter if he becomes a career DH for an AL team. Id guess for a mid-range market team he would likely do that when signed in FA. Toronto/Baltimore/Texas type not a Boston/NYY/LAA club
  23. What makes you think 145? He just threw 180... missed 3 starts... 2 because he was battling turf toe. 1 because the year was over. Prior to turf toe he was on pace for 222ip through 21 starts (if he pitched 32 starts) 2015 missed 5 starts with an oblique. 32 starts would have put him at 197ip 2014 missed 10 starts concussion rehab blister. 32 starts would have put him at 208ip. A single repeat of TJ would make him miss that. On pace for isnt the same as actually having the results. There was no chance he would pitch 200innings last season. His arm hasnt endured that workload. Reaching near 180 last year is impressive. Every out pitched above 179.2 is new territory for him. This as he's 30years old, no longer in his 20s. You have the 10day DL now which I will put money on he spends at least one time on that this season with the old "dead arm" Thats the biggest problem with Cobb or Duffy is their workload limitations. Until theyve eclipsed 200IP, the post season games started will be extending that new territory every out. Another Marcum gas can experience. So he'll have to miss some starts this season if your planning Playoff Starts for him. I dont think he will be 145IP avg the next 4yrs, its just his history with Age, has to be considered. If he had 1 200IP season in his history he'd be worth 20mil on this FA market. To expect a guy to avg as many innings the next 4years as he's most pitched in 1 season is foolish for his age. He's going to bat more often if he comes to us, that adds to injury potential. Im for a Cobb signing, he produces when hes on the mound. I'm just hedging on the expectations that he'd produce to the contract he signs. He's had TJ and 1 random strain 1 toe issue and 1 freak event. He's returned quickly from everything but TJ. Basically you think he misses at least 8 starts a year? Do you think he kicked a black cat crossing his path into a mirror?
  24. Cobb is a good addition when healthy and on the mound. There is a strong possibility he wont earn the contract handed out to him. You pay a guy for 175innings 4 years and he averages 145 Id say. So I hope his contract isnt in the 18+ a year range. Im guessing 4/62 to outbid the basic 4/60 calls.
  25. Oh the google and gamestop website listed the Adaptor available for sale. The site then listed only available in stores not via web. At the store the woman told me its been discontinued and no longer in Gamestops warehouses. Then her 100mile instore locator said it wasnt in any of the stores.
