5 years is extreme. I dont mind resigning him. But 3years would have been my limit. fwiw top S, Cb were signed and franchised respectively. A number more of top FAs were Franchised too. That was to my knowledge a few days ago. So I dunno how the top availables stand. But my personal top 2 targets arent available.

Im for more at-Large bids among mid-majors. I wanna say the other night, they mentioned Clemson? As part of the last 4 out and earning a bid if they had beaten Duke....this with a 6-12 conf. record heading to their tourney. Maybe the committee should have a minimum mid major tourney participation. Auto bids +4 at large. Or 6 whatever would seem appropiate. Because I feel like when a conference is going 7-8 deep in the tourney those just make it ins as 10/11 seeds often get bounced. I'd rather see a 25win mid major who didnt win their conference tourney get a chance over an 18win big conference school. That idea of Clemson having even a mention of getting in with a Duke win doesnt sit well with me with their record. Where as youre rewarding them for the competition they faced and lost, you ignore potentially the mid major who faced weaker competition, but just needs a shot at a bigger school. That 4 at large guarantee to 10 or 11 line. Better than giving a 18win team that spot

Klay Thompson. Whoever else that can be, or just him. A real 3pt shooting threat, that isn't a hindrance defensively. One who can simply game-change with 1 quarters' shooting.
-
Maybe that has to do with the First Four games eliminating teams like UWM was going to represent. Also that's my guess based on a team that would have been all time record losses. The Offense looks like the Badgers 2nd string in the final 2-5min. of a game that's a blowout. They did do very well on guarding without fouling, very Badger like, hands up, light body. But a 1seed would have just moved straight through those guys and getting contact fouls called. Foul trouble to guys who are your scorers? Bench guys coming in to the game, it'd be mop up duty. I'd honestly wonder if the 1seed's bench started the game, would UWM have had a chance to keep within 10 points.

Man the way the market is currently, That idea that Apple is in wave 5 which would mean moving down...That is just tough to believe. I may have stumbled in something like this in regards to my 401k and the dow movements. But man, Since Mid February last year, the Dow hasn't swung down 6percent from it's closing high at any point. On Feb 11 it closed at 15,660. Apr 20 closed 18,076 closed Jun 27 17,140.24 5.5%swing to current high of 21,115 13months~ 34.8% gain from the Dow. Only 1 swing of 5% during that rise. I mean look at that. 5,450 pts. practically non-stop. I thought I had gotten on to something as during my cancer time off I'd looked at the Dow Closing prices and found that on avg there were 3 times a year it swung 7% or more. Why does that matter or is important? Well Get a 5 year graph of the Dow, Your best Small-cap index, Mid-cap index, and Large-cap index. Do a layover the lines I bet don't swing much differently one way or the other. When the Dow tanked in 2008/09 Those funds tanked just as much. And when it returned, just as much. A few may have dropped or risen 5-8% more or less but everything that was a small, mid, or large fell just like the dow. Often the climbs would approach or exceed just slightly, the Dow's previous High. For a couple years til mid-year last year 18,000 was the range it'd climb or barely jump over. But last year after that 18,076 close. The battle lasted 11weeks and July 8 We moved in to the keep above 18,000 mode vs below. And here we are 21,000. I don't think in any of my research the Dow, gained 3,000pts on a previous high level without swinging down 7% or more briefly. There were single days where the Market moved over 1,000pts down and the next regained more than it had lost. So I'm lost as to where this dow is heading. History(since 2000) shows it should have had 3 7% or more corrections since the last time it had such. We're 34% up without that. No pausing. Trump's presidency didn't even bring one occasion. N. Korea's reved up Missile tests haven't created a pause. The Fed raising rates finally(Yellen's fears on the markets needing delays on such) no effects when they did. So just be mindful on shorting anything that just doesn't make sense. I think it was late last year when some article I read the Market's PE was super high than norm, well, it must be another level or even 2 above what that PE was at back when I read that article. At some point we should have a correction and usually that correction will be big when we are talking this kind of PE. So I think you can be a week late when the correction begins, and still make a big profit. Without putting so much risk in an insane market as we have today.

Whoa, thankfully the Panthers didnt pull that off. A 16 vs. 1seed I'd expect Vegas would have had them 34point dogs and it would be too little. a 95-37 type of outcome. The athletic talent/passing ability would have just been demolished by a 1seeded team. At Least the program got put in some tv coverage. I like that Detroit Court. Lets go Eagles and Badgers!

If you're paying down quicker, aren't you saving money because less is added via interest? More goes towards the bottom line, quicker? But I dunno what a student loan looks like only a car loan. So theres that. I do agree with Brew4u on investing in something you may have more knowledge about. I have a nurse friend who told me to invest in something I forgot (brain cancer) but the hospitals she worked at had switched on a product and company they got supplies from. For me it'd be something in the golf industry, a trend or something used new to it. But trial and error. Whatever you do, will have ups and downs. So best advice is dont tie yourself in to one investment. Gotta give yourself something to recover with when the downs happen.

N kentucky is a 15 Yep. Theres a part on the top, auto bids are filled in with champion or highest seed remaining. Which N. Kentucky is as stated a 15. One could assume UWM's win would switch a better deserving 16 to N. Kentucky's place and UWM in to the vacated 16. FV. Butler, Illinois St probaby a cpl others, used to be in the Horizon until recent. But of course all this Conference shifting remolded some of these conferences in to well jokes. So what you see today, yeah Mid-major they are not. Imagine if Mlb teams did the same thing, We'd probably get stuck as a Milw, Pitts, TamBay, Miami, Oakland "Central" Division lol.
-
Well in defense of UWM the game was vs. a 15-17 record team. The previous game they took at #2 seed Valpo at 24-7 record. Also that day Oakland the #1 seed lost it's game to Youngstown St. 9/10seeds taking out 1/2 seeds. Milwaukee has to get by the #4 seed tonight. 1-1 vs each other both home team wins. Valpo was the highest RPI team at #79, Northern Kentucky is 2nd at 94. Oakland was 121. Milw sits at 265. So it's not like the conference is losing a team that would have made it as an at-large. If Milw pulls off the win, they'd have beaten the highest 2 in the conference, and obviously deserving reward to play in the tourney. Though most likely just the Play-in game for a 16 seed.

Well Chiefs resigned Berry. Melvin Ingram was Franchised Trumaine Johnson was Franchised. That leaves Logan Ryan as the last Secondary piece I'd hope at. Or maybe a Safety still. But now I'm certainly going to look for a Defensive secondary 1st rd pick if there's one there.

No, I'm strictly short on these IPO buys. I've bought 6 total thus far, Sold out on 5 of them with gained avg over 45% on those 5. The 6th has made money, just not where I want to sell out, happens to give a dividend so I trust it will continue modestly well. In 2015 I tried Dividend types. Lost big time on one(oil) The other took awhile. Trial and error. 3 different type of stocks dealing with oil. Taught me how the market can feed in a sector and which sectors sorta hit miss. Like you suggested biotech can be huge gains or losses. Oil is going to be mostly a losing preposition for some time. So it's sorta come to pick something in IPOs that have usefulness or potential usefulness. The hot ones are Tech stuff. The Trade Desk and Everbridge were two I missed out on. Part due to the early pop no shop. Part because I made mistake on symbol for trade desk. thinking tdd and not ttd. Oops. Snap sorta fell in that line of Tech, even though it says it's camera, but again early pop no shop. Healthcare is one I look for and hit on 3 of them. Oddly, an upcoming IPO is something that I believe I seen in the bothering you thread. Canada Goose those overpriced Parka Coats. They have a lot of good numbers going for them to have a short-term pop, maybe even lasting through a year somewhat steady in price. But $1,000 coats aren't exactly being bought up by blue collars. So the trendy White Collars are making this coat a lot of money right now, but at some point, the trend will end. Having a stock price of say $11-12 doesn't take much a big hike to go up 33% or more. I could see hype jumping this to $16-18 maybe even 20 in no time before the shine fades off and settles towards a modest price. So I'm looking to keep an eye on that.

Holy Spring Box Score! 14 walks!, 14 Runs, 15Hits! by the Brewers today. 2HRs by Erceg 5RBI. Bandy 3-3 First two hits Run Scoring vs. Kluber. 6 runs against Corey Kluber. Gotta like this early production from the guys you'd question on production continuing. Erceg's HRs were off of Hoby Milner and Nick Pasquale fwiw, no Majors experience in either of the two. Not exactly arms with an extended ML future ahead of them.
-
I can't add much to this. I invest modestly in stocks. Late in 2015, I came upon more of IPO investing and done well thus far. They are supposed to be risky investment, but I've only gone in stocks that hadn't popped, seem to read as having some interest by others to invest, and I think it is in a promising type of market I guess. Take Snapchat, which had it's IPO last week. I had interest at the reported initial price offering of $14-16. Big timers who get first dibs on the "Initial Public Offering" bought in at $17. So when it truly began Public Offering, meaning Joe Schmo(me) can buy it himself, It opened at something like $23.50. Making $6.50 for the rich folks that are allowed the dibs and Joe Schmo Buying off their shares at a +38% gain and +46% above their proposed high initial price offering. In just a few days/hours/minutes it got as high at $29.44. which if you lucked in to that exact moment meant you as Joe Schmo made about 25%. If you held on for further well it closed today at 23.77 or less than 1% gain for you. This example I stay away from. You want to get the initial pop and that initial pop was your first buying opportunity past the pop. So, move on. I look for the types I can get in within the asked for price range give or take a small pct. gain. My targets have done well and my patience done well too, not to buy in post initial pop. Now if you're close to retirement age this isn't an idea you want to look for investing due to the risk. If you're somewhere around younger age 24-40 maybe? Something to play with your money. I look at these risky investments as being better than buying lottery tickets or playing money in a casino. Keeps me from going out and spending $5-20 when a Powerball or Mega Millions gets way up there. So if anyone is in that kind of investing then we can trade on info or debate potential IPOs to look in to.

Well 4 of a kind is 12points and 31 would add 2 to that. That's my guess on a single play. 14points. When it comes to possible peg count in a round? The 4 of a kind scenario doesn't make sense for pairing cards to have something like the possible highest in a round. Well, unless your talking teams where you have 4players and often cards don't make sense because you only can discard 1. I dunno if it works this way but say a 3,2,A,A,A,A type of play finishing at 31. Would that add up as 4 runs of 3, 4 of a kind, plus 31? Or 26? What if you started 5,4 all the way back to the Aces. Point more per card But 2 handed you wouldn't get to 31. 3handed. Hmm, 3handed or 4 if you were allowed that 4 runs with 4 of a kind, you could start at 7 counting back to the 4 aces and total 31 at that point. So 4 runs of 7 plus 4 of a kind plus 31 would be 42 points total if played out that unlikely scenario? I've never really gotten how runs work when playing a hand. What makes a double run how the card order has to be. Like 5,6,4,6 that wouldn't be a double run correct? What about 6,5,4,6? Is that just 1 run or is it double? Is a double/triple run only possible when you go 4,5,6 another 6, and another 6? then or if you played a 4 are you at a double run 5,6,6,4.

Aren't Thames and Shaw Lefty? Oh you're talking about Pinch hitters. Is under .800 OPS really a bat you need to keep vs Righties? For his lacking against LHP you're looking at him for a Late in game PH appearance. At which a Loogy comes in and gets him out. He's not getting Starts because Villar is batting Switch at the one position you can rely on him defensively. For what little gain as a LHB vs RHP Gennett offers, Lawrie's career splits make him far better at least within both sides. And can play 3b unlike Gennett's 2b options. In a depth option I'd have to give Lawrie the nod over Gennett. Not that it will happen, but if Stearns did sign Lawrie it's more depth move vs. signing him as a Starting chance.

Hayes is still missing front ends of 1 and 1s, I want to say 3 of them in this game. Minnesota apparently didn't know how to foul him the moment he touched the ball in last 5mins. Suddenly Koenig hits 3 straight 3s and the game is out of reach with 2:30 to go. Well, they've sealed a 6seed with being #2 in the conference. I like how the Bracketology has improved WI's matchups while losing 5 of 6. Even had them in Milwaukee the time before vs. Tenn St.? I believe. I'm wrong but it was bad conference. Now it's Middle Tennessee in Orlando. Think this will put WI maybe in that 5 seed vs 12 matchup since they are a weak higher seed. Who's cinderalla going to be on that 12 seed?
-
Half a year and giving concern towards a 22/23yr old? It's not just overall hitting improvement that will come (look at Villar,Broxton, even Santana) but also his body maturing and filling out. He's going to tap in to some more HRs than Escobar ever has. He uses the opposite field, which bodes well at this stage. Im sticking to my original proclamation of him, the Franchise's Derek Jeter the next 12 years or more.
-
Interesting, MU vs. Creighton and FoxWI playing the Xavier game right now at halftime listed Creighton/MU 3/6 matchup in Big East. I think with a win MU takes the 3, if Creighton falls to 6 facing Creighton twice and winning? Current Bracketology has Creighton at 7seed. They are a top 30RPI team currently, I'd assume drop to 40 with 2 MU losses but that moves MU in to top 50. Wondering, could MU get a higher seed than WI?
-
It's only 1IP seen, but Jungmann looked awful. Fb was everywhere. His first breaking ball was a beauty called strike 3. Next couple not so nice. I'd say 3 total pitches were good. His other 17? Or so were AA innings filler quality. What a 2year 1st round failure on draft picks. They wont even tally100 games total out of those four, maybe even 50 total.
-
Absolutely, disagree with that assessment. Guerra right now shouldn't be worth anything higher than a C grade prospect. He performs to the deadline like his 2016 season then you can back up a B-grade as well as a C grade return in expectations. His history doesn't back-up his 2016 season. His Fip was at 3.70. 20 starts doesn't make him a stud to acquire when he's 32 and no history to suggest this kind of stats. But if he's 20 starts in to 2017 with stats that comp with the "History" of 2016, you have something to trade with confidence for. And about 20 starts is where we'll be come Trade Deadline. That is when he'll potentially be at his highest value. I'd even think it could get a little higher by the 2018 off-season if he made the full 2017 season rather productive.

Well, if they win vs. Creighton you are a lock because the committee will not dump the 3rank in the conference while awarding 2 or 3 other bids to it. I think they are lock in at this point because quite frankly the team is too dangerous to just leave out. So at minimum, a play-in game just so their shooting show gets put on display for a game. But, beat Creighton, win a game in the conference tourney(better yet 2) and I wonder would the committee make them an 8/9 matchup and force a potential very tough out for a #1 seed. Watching the game yesterday 12 shots in a row. Yet they had just a 13pt? lead for that production. They play small and sloppy. No wonder Fischer had fouled out in the 3previous games. Being undersize means teams bullying in the paint. It was 9-0 Offensive Rebounds for Xavier til late in the 2nd half. Ticky-tac fouls pretty awful heads up. They are just going to be so interesting to see, because again, faults of many teams, FT shooting, or 3pt shooting are not something Marquette is worrying about. You get to 1 and 1 FT shots late in a 2nd half and Marq is 6-6 and that opponent is 1-4 can turn a game quickly and now you need to foul Marq and they are shooting 90%. Oh, btw reading boxscore. WI lost again. FT missing, Layup missing by Hayes again seems pretty typical of late. omg, 5-14 FTs in the game. 0 pts in final 3mins. I wouldn't be mad at the committee if they didn't put WI in the tourney. Losers of 5 of 6 and could be 7 of 8 come Selection Sunday w/o any significant win-Minnesota and Maryland are best wins. I mean, this is obviously not a team to sit and think they'll win 6 in a row heading in to the tourney. As winning 2 in a row has escaped them in the past month. Let's see the committee reward WI by just giving WI a 7seed and face vs Marq as a 10. That way 1 of these two are gone round 1.

Look all I'm saying is that if Boston makes a move for a SP, Davies or Guerra would be option AA and BB after the first run of the alphabet didn't pan out in trade. This would be the equivalent of Braun getting injured and the Brewers traded for Mallex Smith of Atl for Corey Ray if you want to suggest Jason Groome in trade notions. I mean if I'm going to commit to giving up such a highly thought of prospect, why am I digging at scraps from other teams who happened to fall in to a 1st year wonder on a rebuild team? Boston is a team that can and will spend money. Take one of our own Spring Training invites. Tommy Milone. There have got to be over a dozen of these types who won't make a team. And Boston can just pick up with a little cash. They can pitch their own guys down the depth chart and come to a conclusion what they need done. But giving up anything of value to "fix/solve" this Price situation with acquiring Guerra or Davies? Is just laughable. Thinking adding Perez to a deal who was waiver wire material in 2015 doesn't do justice to add this valuable piece. At this point we're not dipping in anything in their top 15 and maybe snagging something in their 20-30 prospect ranks. Sorry, I'm just not on the Perez gravy train like most here like to toot his horn. And Guerra is not a chip I'd want to gamble with on a well established franchise. Two Waiver pickups are not worthy of 1st rd selections. You've already made the mistake once on not claiming them yourselves. What if they turn out to be just sorta kinda 1 year wonders? That you now made the 2nd mistake trading for?
-
Red Sox are smarter than to deal with Milwaukee in a David Price replacement idea. Our guys are a joke in the mainstream. Maybe we offer Braun to take Price and be done with it. Thats as close to making any trade with an effect on Price's current situation affecting Boston. What does Boston need Hernan Perez for? Because if they needed him, a move would have been made. So an injury to Price, means now they fix this need for Perez and get a non-factor pitcher? Because Davies or Guerra are 0s to the Boston market when finding a SP to replace Cy Young winning Price. That would get you laughed at for such a joke as these warm bodies.

What do you do if the unexpected happens?
brewcrewdue80 replied to JohnBriggs12's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Well, depends on how the unexpected has transpired. In the event that all of the position players have contributed success, meaning you can count on Broxton, Santana, Arcia, Villar, Shaw, Thames and of course Braun...plus a catcher has emerged steadily., Then yes I'd consider a trade for Jose Q. But that would have to be it, finding a player with at least 2more years beyond 2017. I'm talking the offense is explosive and its the #4s of pitching being the reason we're Just! 50-40. Removing a 4+ERA and solidifying with a 3 only ERA makes it worth it. Beyond just a rental. I feel like this could become true. Offensively, aside from Braun, every single bat could improve by 10% or more on expectations. Defensively, you know will be better than last...I dunno what runs saved total will be and how many wins that supposedly adds alone. Interesting if you had a projection the w/l differential by what takes the field the majority of time in '17 vs what was on the field in '16. Say its 24runs. Does that mean it would be 6wins via that Pythagorean equation? But say still we are 1pitcher off. Nelson,Peralta, Garza theres 1 of them to move on and find a solid option. Brinson, as studly as he's looking to become, is soundly behind the 3 starting OFs. Trading him to get this SP we need. Just do it. Theres an abundance of CF prospects in our system, and we're talking Broxton is 2nd half+ performing in this what if. -
Beasley takes dumb shots yes, but look around who's on the court and where. He get's a pass from Snell, Maker, Vaughn, Henson those types and the other 3 on the court generally stands and watch. Beasley notices his lack of team and puts up shots. You can't blame him if no one on the floor is moving that wants to score. Guys like Snell, Henson, Maker, and Vaughn currently are thinking pass first if they've taken a dribble. Their shots are taken when they are on the receiving end of a kickout pass. I just don't know about Delly anymore. He's up then down bad. Monroe gets beaten up with a lot of no calls, some of them lead to turnovers as he loses the ball being hacked. Delly, Henson, Snell are all types they need to move on from. Terry as well. I thought they'd be better with the talent, but it's not as talented as I thought.
