  1. One full year of health for Harrison Please! Well really 12 would be nice. . Truthfully the stats hes put up under his injuries to overcome is encouraging. Will his speed return and SBs return? Really hope he proceeds to make the Majors because of his Football potential he passed on. Some year can Milw picks produce better than you expect?
  2. Well they did lose their #2 player the game before. Thats a lot of mins being redistributed among your #3 and worse.
  3. I feel like extensions should be considered when the idea is more realistic that you'll have a player who 80% and better is helping the team 4years or more from now. Because, if 2 out of 5 of these extensions dont work, what are you really saving? Lets say 5/30mil contracts handed out 5 times. 150mil total. If 2 of them fail, your average from 6mil per year turns in to 10mil per year. Theres gotta be stronger confidence than what i feel is on the ML roster currently. Arcia is the closest who fits my 80% and more likely to help the team 4+ years from now. But 4years from now is arb 2. Then final arb. Think about Lucroy. With his option this year, what was his final tally of team control? 8years? So, 1 more year of team control? If we had waited 1 more year, signed him then got a 2nd year of FA buyout. That to me should be the goal of an extension. 2year beyond your original team control or more. In the end, that very early signing cost us added years to have Lucroy. Lets say hes part of this team still with 2018 as the option. How would you be feeling on the teams win projection for this season, and maybe 2018, if youre not trading Lucroy in season? Just at this moment, no one has reached the service time where an extension is worthwhile. I said Hader is the most qualified, Arcia, then my feelings are on Diaz/Santana/Broxton/Villar. Youre a year away to feel theres that 80%+ confidence.
  4. Oh, I only thought is was 5picks any round, maybe I just forgot already Triston Mckenzie was my 2nd thought in choice. Dont remember the round or year.
  5. So, it wasn't a horrible call, just not eexcited properly? You haven't acknowledged that it was a 16 point game at the time, not 19 as you were saying. Oh man, you're right I mixed up that possession with the Onside kick possession prior. I still believe it's an all-time horrible call. To call a pass play there and the way a game can change by a Sack/fumble or Int, besides how well the Avg running gain per play was at that point(I'd imagine over 6yards vs the 5.6 it finished at) Run play guarantees the clock runs. Incomplete passes clock stops. You gain 9yards in 2 carries have 3rd and 1 which you should have been stoked to have. I'd have run still regardless if it were 3rd and 10. Clock management, field position you had it. You'd won that with the big gain dumping to the RB 1st play call after the Kickoff. What's odd is Atlanta had this exact scenario in their final game of the regular season, vs. New Orleans. Up 25pts heading to 4th quarter. Ran the ball 6 out of the 8 offensive plays they ran. 1 pass on 3rd and 5 must have been behind line of scrimmage lost 3 yards. the other pass on 3rd and 6 and incomplete. New Orleans scored 19pts-3TDs 2missed 2pt conversions. Recovered an onside kick to help their cause. 4:35 burned off the clock but NO had used 2 timeouts which is my point with the run call on 3rd and 1. If you gained the 1st down, obviously more time is taken off the clock. If NE stopped you, and having been corrected down 2 scores, would have most likely stopped the clock there. If not, you're booting the ball, with a guy who kicks 55yard punts with ease. You just wonder what is going through their heads? You don't think what you'd do if you were needing to come back from 25,19,16, and 8pts down? What you need to happen to do so? It's like in their mind the game was only 3pts. and you need to score. I'll never understand the playcalling mistakes. How you can ruin 2 FG range postions, and a 3rd and 1 wedged in between. The epic fails after managing a game to have a 28-3 lead.
  6. Wasnt it 5picks? Did we move to 10picks recently?
  7. Time of possession at the end of the game was a little over 17minutes in NE's favor. So the TD drive 6:25 Atl went 3 and out...well technically 4 given the penalty. 2:15 NE 12play FG 5:07 Atl the 3play fumble drive 1:20 NE 5 play TD 2:28 Atl 6 play 2nd bad call 2:26 NE 10play TD tie 2:33 to go 91yards Atl end of regulation 57secs NE 75 GW TD 3:58. total is Atl 6:01 with 57secs end of game. NE 20:31 That's gassing the Defense. Being on the field 80% of the time for 26:32 of game time. Atl ran 13plays and 6:01 off the clock An average of 27.8secs per play. They could have knelt on the ball and used up more clock and more likely won the game. because you remove the Fumble. The defense did it part early. While they gave up the first TD and the FG it took over 11min. to score 9 points in a 25point game. Vs. giving them a break you put them back on the field at their 25. 3rd and 1 call, a defense in that situation is going sell out for a run. So a rusher coming around the corner should have been expected. And I think there was a playaction...half-assed that put the RB out of position in selling it. Ryan has a big part in the blame that he doesn't just kneel down feeling the pressure. Just the events of that game once that XP was missed. Atl did 3 plays right which were all the 1st down calls. And proceeded to make the absolute perfect scenario every call else to give the Patriots a chance to win the game.
  8. Well the fact that all-time in Super Bowls no team had ever come from behind by more than 11pts. And you proceed to blow a 19pt lead with 9min. to go in the Super Bowl? Your franchise is 9min away from winning their 1st ever SB and all you have to do is sit on a 19pt lead. I think All-Time is appropriate. It took 51 SBs to have a comeback of more than 11 occur. What could possibly be the chances 25pts is ever accomplished? It'll be an All-Time SB choke. So it's the All-time worst Play call imo. coin flip I suppose for the 2nd and 11 at the 23 if you want. But the success rate I'd imagine on 3rd-1 running the ball was higher than Run blocking 2 more plays and a FG success to go up by 11. I know somewhere there are conversion rates of RBs on 3rd and 1. It was discussed with Rip/Lacy/Montgomery earlier in this thread. I don't know how to find it for Atlanta simple google search leads me nowhere. The standard 3rd down conversion rate for Atl was near 46% I think was the stats I seen. Like I said, whether they convert or not, a run takes 40secs off the clock. a punt takes likely 50yards of field position, if not more away from NE. And obviously, a conversion which I'd imagine was better than 50% odds, would have led to more clock winding down, Patriots Timeouts? Maybe even a drive from that point that results in points. Any way you look at, your chances of holding on to a 19pt lead are far greater than what occurred. That is 100% true calling a run play right then.
  9. Yes, yes it is the worst all-time. Clock Management. Field Position. Greater possibility of getting a 1st down. There is only one other worst possible outcome than what happened, and that would have been a Pick-6...something that involves calling a pass play. You run, get the 1st down another 2+mins are being taken off the clock. You run, get stuffed and have to punt. 40secs run off the clock. and You pin NE inside the 20 playing field position. So rather than have 80+ to go with nearly 1min less on the playclock. NE gets the TO ball on Atl's 25 and 40 more secs to work on their comeback. You don't need that 1st down. You need time to run off that clock. You have a 3score lead and less than 9min to go. I'd understand, very little, but understand a decision the throw if you were up any less than 2 scores. But you were up 3scores. 3TDs or a FG, 2TDs AND 2 successful 2pt conversions. Team stats finishing the game have Atl with over 5yards per rush. You had just gained 9yards in 2 attempts including 1 the play before, which was all you needed for a 1st down. I mean gosh, the series before that one. after NE TD makes it 28-9. You recover Onside kick at NE's 41! Your playcalls are: pass complete 9yards at 32. run(holding) back to 42. Pass incomplete. Pass-sacked forced to punt end of 3rd quarter. The Patriots tied the game with 57secs left. All it would have taken was clock managing run the ball, punt if you have to and force NE to play long fields down 3scores.
  10. Or maybe it'll come in the form of this guy Khris Middleton playing his 1st games of the season. I think what's happening now is the rotation of the bodies on the court. Who's starting Delly or Brogdon? Henson or Monroe? When they play Terry for Snell. Just that certain 5 men on the court and lose track of who's in charge, what's the weakness of those 5men, and what's the strength. Beasley can be great one game gets in over 10 shot attempts. And then a few games he's only getting 4 attempts. Any time Rashard Vaughn is on the court or Thon Maker the confusion with both is massive. Terry averages 17mins a game. 5 FG attempts a game. His offensive play is so one dimensional that you don't really concern yourself to much with him. Defensively you can be more aggressive in the middle and around the rim. Offensively, Terry plays so small, shoot over, dribble past and pass out. Again, it's a personnel on the court where he's fine at times, or he's exposed. At some point minutes will have to be less distributed and you run 7guys out more often vs 9-10. With Middleton returning, maybe that is the answer to that. Less Snell/Terry/Henson on the court. More cohesive unit in Guard, Giannis, Parker, Middleton, and center. Here's hoping Middleton makes his first jumper and the team just gels and takes off from this stretch. Only the Pacers are above .500 in the next 5games, they could win them all and be almost to .500 again and likely back in the 7 or 8th seed right before the AS break.
  11. Fresh morning and I can safely say this now. 3rd and 1 up 19 at the 42 yard line and calling a pass play is the Worst Playcall in NFL History all-time.
  12. The game changer was 28-9. Nice gain to 33. 1st down 8yards. 2nd down 1more yard both rushes. Youre up 3scores, 3rd and 1 at 42 your punter avg over 50yards. Whats ypur play call? Long developing pass play. Strip sacked at 25. You can list dumbest playcalling SB all-time and that may overtake Pete Carroll's pass call at the 5foot line. And Ill hand the award above it because the dual choke play call. Now 8pt lead 1st down at 22 fg range. Run lose 1 who cares? Youre about to score expend a Pats TO. Nope, long developing pass play sacked 12yard loss! But, still in FG range. Pass call, pass call less than 40secs run off the clock when you had 2nd and 11 to go at the 23. Just remarkable the Luck to win their last 2SBs. Both should have been losses. Edit Add: Literally, if they just kneel on the ball the next 3 plays once they got to the 22. 2mins or 0 TOs and 3mins left in game FG attempt to go up 2scores under those 2 scenarios. The plays called at that point is like sending Pitchers up in the bottom of the 9th bases loaded to face Aroldis Chapman.
  13. On Singleton, I think he had such a great minor league, like Polanco or Kris Bryant but wasnt called up in September. The whispers of disgust led to both sides working out a contract that allowed him to start opening day the next year. The contract was 7years guaranteeing that team control w/o having to keep him down and play the game then on Super 2. Now ill go check and see if I remembered correctly.
  14. It's just too early to consider Villar or Broxton. Like it was too early for Jean Segura. The Brewers have a number of backups for CF and SS/2b forthcoming. And I highly doubt 15mil in 6 years is even remotely close to appealing to these 2. Wilmer Flores just won his 1st year's Arbitration case and will be paid 2.2million next season. You'd expect a continual rise with just a 0.2 WAR per season at this point, to go 4-5million and then at least 6-9million. For less than 1WAR a season. I'm sure that 3rd arb year is a non-tender unless he's better than a 2WAR player these next seasons. But these 2 were a 6WAR combined value. And for Broxton his 2.1WAR was earned in 75games with just 244PAs. A regression to 0WAR makes them worth 15mil to FA alone, not to the extension years. These two continue with 4WAR years, you could say the comparison would be Jose Reyes. That comes with 10mil or more past the team control years which will be 10years past that point. a QO in 5 years must be over 18million. Look at Pitts.' deals with Polanco and Marte. 5 and 6 years in the 30s with option 2 option years of about 12mil avg then. That's more in line with what it'd take. 6/30mil. Even Josh Harrison got 4/27.3mil after 1 solid season and again a later signing but still. The value seems beyond a 15million signing. Jean Segura back to him just received 6.2mil in what I would believe is his 1st year for arb. 2 good years out of 4. with another 2 arbs to get paid. Yeah 15million sets you for life if you live within your means. 30million helps insure you are set for life. The offer has to have at minimum a 9million season. I find it hard to see 5 years for 6mil then on all the other years.
  15. Is is weekly or daily lineups?
  16. I have clue if you're serious or not. I am and I'm not lol. At this point he's the closest I think deserving of an extension. The fact he has 0 ML games played indicates there isn't a single candidate for long-term extension.
  17. Josh Hader now, and Luis Ortiz next offseason. Because pitching quality isn't cheap. There isn't a single soul on the Brewers you extend. No one came up with a Braun type Minor League history who's 1year performance confirms the stats of said Minors. Arcia is the closest because you're expecting his defense to be worth 4 or 5 games on its own. The problem there is that you've got Villar, Diaz, Dubon, even Lara and Gatewood who present higher Offensive potential either ready to go in Villar or in the very near future. Gotta pick your poison defense ability or offensive ability? With Milw not exactly teeming with great offensive prospects or TOR pitching you may find going with the better offensive talents over above average defense. Andrelton Simmons brought back top 100 then top 30 prospect and now #80 SP Sean Newcombe. You just know at some point 1 of these super talented Middle Infielders will be traded for a need in due time. What'd be bad is giving an Elvis Andrus type contract where the money gets out of hand. He did sign the contract what would have been during his 2nd arbitration year which was already bought out. But that's just it, 5years experience. Not a single young player on this Brewers team has even 3years service time. The players that do, Gennett, Peralta, and Kirk N are replaceable talents if they even make the ML 25man out of Spring Training. So you're not even considering any extension. So my answer is Josh Hader. 9years and you immediately start him Opening Day Starter since you've locked him up as your Franchise pitcher for the next 9years.
  18. Where did he mention any other team? I believe he is speaking in terms of the Brewers paying him. I have no complaints about Braun's salary on the surface, at the time it appeared to be a good extension for both sides, if still unusual that early out. But since this is a thread about his trade value to the Dodgers, I certainly think mentioning that another team doesn't care about his value to the Brewers earlier in his career. For perspective, the Tampa Bay Rays did give Evan Longoria a 15year contract in under 1 season's worth of games. The Pirates have been doing this. It's the small market strategy to lock up some FA years for most likely money less than they'd be offered in the FA market. You are also taking in charge team control without having to play the game of gain an extra year service time in some instances. Polanco, Marte, Harrison, that one who didn't turn out...Jose Tabata. The Mets did David Wright. The Rockies did Carlos Gonzalez along with Troy Tulowitzki. Guys with 20mil in a year at some point. And Braun was arguably if not definitely more valuable that those last 3. Players are getting paid 24million to 34million to be the star that Braun was. We can go back revisionist post PEDs and say his contract is expensive, but if the PEDs didn't come about, Braun would have been a FA after 2015 and we'd be harping how he's going to get paid 24-28mil a year or more removing the bad history. And all we had to do was try locking him up like the Rockies/Mets/Rays did with their Franchise type players. Willingness to offer 5/100 for Fielder/Grienke who left more, but Braun? at his early stage to pass that up?
  19. Forget the Hrs, how about 50SB from the position!? Now the numbers have to be reduced by 60% to reach an equal amount of expected PAs. But that's still 60HRs, 30SBs 216hits while at .466OB. Maybe you could fill 1000ABs by playing Park at 1st and Thames in OF for Braun's expected off days. Though that'd mean about 100games of off days.
  20. Well, I see the MLB posted it's top 100 and team's top 30 comes out later in the month. 5 in top 65. But nothing near bottom of top 100 just those 5. You know the prospects that missed on the top 100 list are close. I wouldn't be surprised there's 4 within their next 10. 24 on the list have MLB experience, 3 of the top 5 will unqualify themselves in 1st week of season. Another 3 potentially in 1st week as well. And 3-4 in first month, but that's if they are on the 25man roster upon Opening day. The idea of Clark being higher up than Phillips in many rankings goes with the notion of Clark being a 1st round pick, while Phillips was a 6th. That's how guys like Jungmann and Bradley get listed in the top 100 briefly before reality kicks in. Somehow Walker Buehler is making the top 100 when he's at 3IP for his Professional career for a 24th 2015 pick. Way to ignore Woodruff's 2016 season and realize Buehler has 3more years likely to "Earn" and be in a top 100 list. Nottingham makes the 10th best Catcher for his position with an overall of 45. Diaz would be 4th in 2b ranking, but they apparently are sticking him at SS who just misses the top 10 there. Feb 23rd when they come out with NL Central top 30 team ranks. Will get an idea how close names are to top 100 6-12. The name that surprises me to not get top 100 ranked is Marcos Diplan. The guy was #8 ranked during the International signing period class he was in. Actually producing solid results and yet being left off still. I'd think if he were a Cub or Red Sox prospect, he'd be top 75 in the rankings if not top 40 because of the bias. They found a way to put Jeimer Candelario in the top 100 with an overall scouting grade of 55 when he has just 2 tools ranking 55 as his highest. Or SF getting Christian Arroyo ranked top 100 after a full season at AA posting below a .700 OPS.
  21. Sveum notes below, but also, 38year old John Lackey 2017 is a FA after the season, and currently Jake Arrieta is a FA to be after 2017 as well. I'm pretty sure Nelson has options to use and would fit a backup/starter for 2018 should both those 2 find homes in FA elsewhere. I would only think of it happening around trade deadline if the Cubs would need Nelson or next offseason. If it happens now, it's on the fact Nelson has little value ongoing after 2016 and they are buying Low as possible from a division foe. Looking at Stl's salary situation and Lance Lynn is a FA after this season, so probably a 100% certainty that's who the Cubs will sign to take over for Lackey. Seeing as that's been their actions lately. As to Nelson's BB rate spike/ that isn't surprising seeing as he wasn't known for control in the minors. The fact that he reverted back to a higher BB rate, would indicate concern he's not going to improve above being a #3 starter, as I spoke of him having #2 stats with his lower Hit rate and control after 2015. But at this point he fills a #4 for a ML rotation.
  22. Interesting idea, but very risky taking a HS player with an unprotected pick (comp picks for unsigned players are not protected). The Dodgers had to go $400K over slot to sign Seager and that was with a protected pick; any halfway decent agent is going to leverage that unprotected pick and hold the team hostage. If Seager walks away from the table, the Brewers get nothing from either pick. Unlikely but very possible. Not sure that Glasnow would be eligible because he was a significant oversign - he signed for almost 4x the slot value. Brewers would have selected him 13th vs the 18th the Dodgers selected so that 400k overslot, is that total even the Slot for Milwaukee at that point? And going back: 2.678million to 2.110mil or 568k difference. If it means anything Seager by MLB was rated #22 for that draft season, but that does tend to come out early. Roache was 27 Coulter 49 Brinson 39 Haniger 45.
  23. Part of my concerns towards a Logan Ryan, is quite frankly, the terrible QBs NE played for almost the entire season. And only 2 int to show for it. Carson Palmer-6tackles 0PD/int Larry Fitzgerald cover Ryan Tannenhill- 7tackles 0PD/Int 1 FF Davante Parker cover-100+yards Brock Osweiler- 4tackles 1PD/0Int Will Fuller/Jon Grimes cover Tyrod Taylor- 17tackles 0PD/0Int Charles Clay 47yds/Robert Woods 89yds or spy backfield. RB tackles. Charlie Whitehurst/Cody Kessler- 2tackles 0PD/0Int Terrelle Pryor cover Andy Dalton- 5tackles 0PD/0Int Reads as AJ Green early and moved away from. 3 15yd+ catches then different defender on Green. Landry Jones- 4tackles 1PD/0Int Cobi Hamilton or spy backfield Tyrod Taylor-4tackles 0PD/0Int Didn't have Woods this game, seems spy/Walt Powell or just avoided after big game previously Russell Wilson-3tackles 1PD/0Int Name came up vs Jimmy Graham. Colin Kaepernick- 3tackles 2PD/0Int Quitton Patton/Jeremy Kerley and Carlos Hyde Ryan Fitzpatrick- 7tackles 2PD/0Int Brandon Marshall TD/removed off/ Spy/RB coverage Jared Goff- 5tackles 1sack 0PD/0Int Brian Quick/Tyler Higbee Joe Flacco- 7tackles 0PD/0Int Kamar Aiken/Mike Wallace Trevor Semian-7tackles 0PD/1Int Seems roamer Name pops up 5 different targets. Demarious Thomas 2twice, AJ Derby twice, INT on Emannuel Sanders. Bryce Petty/Ryan Fitzpatrick- 4tackles 1PD/0Int Charone Peak PD/tackles on rushes. Matt Moore- 7tackles 0PD/1Int Dion Sims Int/Kenny Stills/Jarvis Landry everywhere seems game End of Reg Season Post Season Brock Osweiler-7tackles 1sack 2PD/1Int Keith Mumphrery PD/Akeem Hunt/Deandre Hopkins PD+Int Ben Roethlisberger- 9tackles 1PD/0Int David Johnson/Eli Rogers/Antonio Brown/Deangelo Williams/Cobi Hamilton PD Overall it reads like Logan Ryan went from cover CB and moved to Slot CB. Early responsibility on main WR to removed and less responsibility. I don't see the big time names being responsible for and I gotta say seemed he was burned a lot for deep passes and left more responsibility when removed from top receivers to slot/soft zone/spy responsibles. But that's just me reading the game logs and not watching any film. TDs don't give reference who was defending. Still overall, I'm thinking there's some overrating going on to him.
  24. About guys unknowingly taking supplements that are illegal. I have been through a vitamin shoppe, gnc and pre-workout mixes for the most part, along with a few vitamins while searching on the shelfs. They have a disclaimer stating a warning something like "using this product is not legal in sports with drug testing." Id think the products sold on shelves for the general public, keep an awareness to list a warning like that. Nothing like being exposed as selling sports nutritions products that test positive as illegal with no warning coming out the woodworks. Your clientele would disappear afraid to use your product and end up popping an illegal test.
  25. What if you move to allow it, and suddenly it's 70HR seasons by dozens. .600+OB by dozens. Aaron Hill hits 55 in a season? Showing that rather than the rampant idea of usage ongoing, the truth is it was who you thought did steroids only and not rampant. Now, what do you do? You've put asterisks on this generation of players. Are you banning the substances again? I'd assume the door was open for HOF inductions for the steroids users of the past. Now do you remove the obvious? Let's take Robinson Cano. And with two seasons of use hits 45 and 60HRs with video game numbers. Someone who needs at least 2 more great seasons to put HOF talk as a reality. Now because of the ban again, does he become a won't allow in because of the usage? Borderline previously and just predict that his numbers without the use wouldn't have gotten him to cross the borderline threshold. Let's say the PED players and much of baseball fabricated the idea over 50% of players were using, and it was in order to take flack off the most obvious. When in reality it was only 40-50. Smoke and mirrors. Guys like Brady Anderson or Brett Boone who used for 1 season but less than 2 and seeing how abnormal their stats were and stopped because knowing the whispers of the steroid talk were becoming louder and louder. I do agree that a player taking steroids does improve strength/speed on the account of being able to continue training through injuries. Instead of losing some muscle mass or speed they are able to maintain it. Which may have been Braun's usage all awhile, just a maintenance workout program he was able to keep, and not a program to grow muscle or train harder for speed. I've seen what 2months away from gym does to my body vs 2months constant upkeeping. 2months away always seems like 4months of results lost.
