Machado did miss half a season so some of that affects his value. Walker would have been a Super 2 so his 2nd, 3rd and 4th year 5.75/8/10.55mil would be the 3years Villar said no to. And I think Walker is below Villar in value. Todd Frazier is a slugger below BA, OB avg. for 3b at that. Villar you're talking getting comped in a 2b/util when he goes through Arb will have a higher value than Frazier's 3b batting line. And Remember, Gennett just achieved 2.525mil his first Arb. So Villar once again exceeds that value. If Frazier and Walker are averaging 10mil for their final year, Villar has to see himself at minimum there and likely above. Another great batting season and you can assert him in the Machado money comparisons. Because he's doing it now at 2b. Removes some of the defensive errors that he incurred with 3b and SS will be less of a hit on his value thus increasing it. He's also very good batting from both sides. You get an offer just through Arb and it shows your scared what he could be valued at. Villar's side must know this is worth the gamble. He goes 3+WAR at 2b he's locked in above 20mil these next 3 Arb.s

His inability to make a FT arguably cost them the game. Yeah. The first half had 4straight. 2 on the 1-1 so 2FT attempts/pts more than the statline will show. I dont know about 2nd half I stopped watching after Matt Kenseth crashed out of Daytona race. So now WI at minimum will be 5-5 last 10. And can get worse. They may drop to a 9seed. Marq, blew their game as well. Man I want them in the tourney because they can prove a tough out with shooting. But they are hanging by a thread in last teams in. They need a big win in the Big East tourney to lock it down.

Okay let me list the depth- Broxton, Santana, Mazara-6years control, Brinson, Phillips, Cordell, Ray, Clark, Harrison, Demi O...10 on my count And Im sure theres a couple more who will get there. In Kirk N., Reed, Cordell, they saved them on the 40man losing Miguel Diaz in Rule 5, losing a number of these half week claim pickups with a new claim. They dont need a ML OF when trading away Braun. Its like at this point, you are hoping Broxton and Santana fail. Because you have backup ready to replace them. They make it through this season and prosper. Your backups are just wasting away in the minors, or on the bench playing a game a week with PH PAs otherwise. But, hey Meanwhile you have a Starting rotation filled with #3 or 4 types and #3 or 4types to back them up. We're discussing a six man rotation, hybrid style of piggy backing to limit the 3/4s lack of ability 2nd and beyond turn through an order. So why dont we just fix hole in the OF when Braun leaves with a ML OF. Its not like we have the prospect talent to put in the field today. I just cant find any reason for this to be cheerful about. Make this a 3-team trade, send off Brinson or Mazara and acquire the #2 we desperately need atop the minors.
-
Maybe with the fact that Mazara is a long term starter, Broxton, Santana. Brinson in the waits. Phillips, Ray not far behind. They left Michael Reed, Ryan Cordell, Phillips, Niewhenwuis, Brinson all on the 40man. Mazara would make them all pointless complete non-starters only backups. You literally have to trade away 4 bodies to clear up room for this overstocked and growing OF in the organization. We'd have traded Braun,Lucroy and Jeffress for 1pitcher and 3 OFs. 2 of which won't be starters. But gave up 3 starters to get 2 starters? Where we'd be at is a poor trade position because, we MUST trade away OFs. So when you ask for guy like say Quintana because of current need to remove these OFs. They'll force multiples to be included in the trade vs 1. What may have been something like Brinson and Woodruff to get him, they say add Brett Phillips or Corey Ray. We're talking about being 10 deep for 3 everyday starters. So you can part with one of them.
-
Seems this is a Texas "Sports beat" account. Obviously, Mazara doesn't make sense with the team's OF situation. And then you have the fact we dipped in to their minors with the Lucroy/Jeffress trade. I'd expect at minimum 2 prospects in return, if not 3 for Braun. Which are they really looking to deplete their minors to likely just 1 top 100 prospect remaining? Mendez would be the only realistic reason to seek to trade Braun. Guzman while I believe in him, we have Thames now for 3 years. Acquiring Guzman, would put Thames as a lock to having to be traded this year or next....I believe Milw is competing in 3 years, you don't exactly trade someone who's helping you compete. I think part of the PTBNL in the Lucroy trade was Jurado&Payano? Maybe the scout watched them and is really pushing for 1? Cole Ragans comes to mind who wouldn't have been able to be traded during the Lucroy trade. Getting a 1st round pitching talent would be a pleasing trade to talk about when giving up Braun to fans. So my guess would be Mendez and Ragans. And I'm going to kick in a RP from Texas Keone Kela or Alex Claudio. Young controlables. Kela would be a buy low coming off a poor season, but seen success rookie year. Claudio would fill a LH need in the bullpen.

Alright, caught the 2nd half vs. Utah. Seems the 1st quarter they went through an 18-2 run by Itah, and never regained. Maybe gave them bad luck. Utah supposedly shot poorly from 3 in 1st half. 2nd half I watched seemed 80% went in....and Milwaukee, Giannis made 2, Jet 1, I think every other missed, Delly, Brogdon, I dont recall if Middleton made an attempt. Very lackadaisical on offense. Seemed 2man game poor movement. Running Delly/Beasley was a lot of bad possessions. Middleton wasnt effective. Giannis was the only difference maker. Monroe was good as well except his putbacks had a lid the ball wouldnt pass through. Utah made the shots, got a lot of good bounces on offensive rebounds and Gordon Hayward scored at will. There was a fantastic run of defense in the 3rd where if the Bucks didnt come away with a steal, Utah made every tough shot. Bucks misses fell right to Utah defenders, and the 3pt shots didnt fall. That defense does leave 3pt shooters open far too often. Tough to comeback trading 2 for 3.

Yowsas, They are tanking fast. Committee won't be kind in seeding with a 5-5 or worse 4-6 last ten games on Selection Sunday. Technically they only have two ranked opponent wins. You know they aren't winning the conference tourney that's auto 4 losses in last 10 games played. Lose 2 of these games vs MSU/Minnesota likely and a 23/24-9 unimpressive record We're staring at an 8seed maybe 9 seed. Yep, that's my prediction without 3 more wins. 8seed

Which if at 4years, doesn't that just take him to the end of his team control? I said earlier somewhere else, I find it wrong to just sign an early extension through 1 year of FA. If we are trying to extend someone it should include 2 years of FA and an option or 2 beyond it. Do you think you are signing a player to be a fixture for years to come in to a playoff run? Lock him up for a longer time. 1 year beyond team control/Arbitration yeah, I'd wait year to year too after a 4WAR season. Segura just got 6.2mil 2nd arb year. Based on the typical growth of Arb that's about 11.5 next year with a similar season. That'd be 22.5million then for his career with only half being of Value. And FA payday forthcoming. You've gotta take a bigger risk than 20mil for 4 or especially 5years. Rickie Weeks got 180PAs last year for 1.5mil. He hasn't had a productive year since 2011 after we extended him 3years. There's going to be money for Villar to make in 5 seasons regardless what he does now til then. And with how Arb works seeing Chris Carter having an 8.2mil projection for his 2nd arb year it's worth betting on yourself vs taking 20mil. He's already made over 1million in 6years of time. And another guaranteed 530k roughly in the next 7months. That's already life changing. After the season he had in 2016, he's easily going to have a 2+million 1st arb payday. Scooter Gennett just got 2.5mil and guess who's replacing him as everyday starter? I just don't see how it's worth it for him. He suffers a career ending injury? At his age, health and knowledge of how rare that will be with medical help. I'm his agent I'm telling him he's leaving behind 15million to guarantee 20mil...well really an extra 10mil in the next 4 years at the worst. So long as he can play terribly. 6years 46million with option years at this point. I think that could be enticing to avoid going year to year. Paying 5,6,7,8million the next team controlled years. 9 and 11mil buying out his FA years. Remember this team's payroll-lite currently. You could hand that 10mil signing bonus to reduce his salary hit in future years. You have Castro's and Andrus contract extensions already out there to compare yourself with. It's disappointing offer.

Only 1 current player makes it to 2020? So 50-60 win team and waivers forthcoming to this current squad? Well, I suppose I can say 2 current players with Susac.

Matt Wieters sign and flip?
brewcrewdue80 replied to JohnBriggs12's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Done deal. 2 years, $21M. $10.5M each year. Wieters can opt out after the first year. $5M of his 2017 salary is deferred until 2021. Nice to have this possibility removed. We have 3 catchers ready to go, and you traded for all of them. If you're not going to play 2 of the 3, why in the world did you trade for them? -
I think he was 2nd highest vote getter in East behind James. He'll be #1 in the East in 2 years. He dunked on Curry twice with the third in between laughingly being with Curry Laying down about the 3pt line. And he mentioned being in the dunk contest one of these upcoming years. It's so nice to have something to be a fan of with the Bucks, it's been a long time.
-
Chandler? No thank you. Old with 2more years on contract. This All Star game. Why dont they just play half court. Its 3pt shooting or dunk/layup fest. Why anyone even bothers to shoot the 3 is beyond me. Just dribble twice drive towards the basket and dunk. No one is contestingthe rim. Edit for purposes adding to this Do you think the Suns would consider Henson, Vaughn, and a 2nd for Chandler? The Suns would be giving away old aging Chandler and 13mil cap hit a year to acquire 2 1st round "busts/tbd" at about same money cap hit except 1 more year of Henson in 3years from now. And get a 2nd round choice? Yes I believe they would do that deal in an instant. Too much youth exchanged plus a draft choice not to my liking. If you say Henson and the 2nd rd choice maybe. Vaughn I know has been lost and bad, but he is 20, his numbers believe it or not are actually improved from his Rookie year. Let the man improve and maybe you have a real bench threat in a shooter down the road. Henson doesn't have any of that potential. He's a big guy that slows the team down. Thon Maker is already showing reasons of being a better future player to plug around what Henson is playing. Maybe if I'm the Bucks the 2nd rd choice would be in 2019 draft when you'd think the Bucks team is battling a top 3 seed or better so it's pick will be late in 2nd

That is a completely random out of left field idea. I certainly wouldn't want that happening, but there is a situation where I think Personal fouls could lead to a FG attempt. I've never liked how a player can essentially maul someone when a team is inside that 10yard line about to score a TD. You know the drill, Personal foul #90 Half the distance to the goal 1st down. So it's under 5yards in a penalty barring if it occurs on 3rd or 4th down it most likely doesn't effect the upcoming outcome. So maybe at that point, you let a team kick a FG. If they are behind. If they are ahead, the defensive player should just receive an automatic kicked out of the game. 2 occurrences of this by the defensive player results in auto 1 game suspension and non payment of said game. If it happens in week 17 the player's week 17 check is taken away no suspension. But of course anything like that involves making the game longer, wackier and changes history of the sport. So it's stupid to suggest. To your idea maybe the 2players involved are removed for the remainder of the quarter is over 7:30 or for the entire next quarter if less. The 4th quarter would be just rest of said game. And that is really why the ideas don't work, because of the 4th quarter.

Ive tended to look at seeding that way too. I know its not always the case... Wasnt Gonzaga like a top 10 rank one year and seeded like 6? Probably a differrent school just remember a year like that. Honestly, WI fits that perfect 5 vs 12 mismatch matchup the committee likes to put together. An underrated 12seed with a star player vs an overrated big conference school. I imagine a big center or Forward who can score and rebound being the problem player put against WI as a 5seed.

I don't believe he will take another DL with Clark showing up in games late in the season and post season. Clark and Daniels for the next 3years looks to be a nice front should he continue to improve, and he is younger for the 16 draft class. i do have that feeling a Pac-12 player comes in that 1st rd pick. Making Jones or Jackson more likely than Conley of my mentions previous post.

drafttek.com has a ranking of the draft prospects. There are 4 CBs 27-36 in the rankings. 27: Adoroee Jackson USC 30: Gareon Conley Oh St. 34: Sidney Jones Wash 36: Teez Tabor Florida All 4 listed at 6' 0" I looked at Conley since he played for Ohio State and other pages listed him 6' 1" or even 6' 2" One writeup said he does press coverage well and has longer arms and runs with his feet over using hands and grabbing. Comp was Aqib Talib. If his speed is fast enough I like that aspect. Intercepted Watson in CFB playoff game. Had more Ints and Pass Defenses this year than last. NFL.com rating 5.93 Then I took a quick look on Sidney Jones who reads as 1st team Pac-10 starter since day 1. Little more physical in press, but doesn't sound like coverage is as tight as Conley's. Comp is Marcus Peters who seems to maybe have been a teammate. NFL.com rank 6.5 I hadn't looked at the other 2. ok I read both profiles on NFL.com. Teez Tabor has some personal issues and certainly dropping as a result of that. Jackson reads as athletic future Return Man, who isn't as quality at the CB position sorta underdeveloped/sized I think would describe it better. Seems to me the safer choice is Conley but the potential choice is Jones. FWIW NFL's Mock has Jones gone before the Packers pick. Tabor and Conley gone each in 1 mock. Oddly 2 of the mocks list Jabrill Peppers before the Packers' pick 1 of course to New England as last pick. Which I'd be all for if he fell to the Packers... Hybrid Safety? Yes Please!

I don't watch much Badgers games. The Michigan game happened to be on ESPN and I got in about 25mins of gameplay before calling it a night. Offensively, it was terrible. Defensively, it was very, very good, though I essentially seen 10 Turnovers of what wound up being like 12 for the entire game with the #1 Least Turnover prone team mentioned a lot in game in that first half for nearly matching their season average in the first half. There is 0 chance they go beyond a sweet 16 watching this game. If they are even to make it to the sweet 16. Nigel Hayes is far worse now than he was as a freshman 6 man. Only Happ looks remotely above College average for a player. Now Koenig was not in this game, but reading about him in above comments, he's not helping much either. I hope this team finds some players in recruiting, they are losing Koenig, Hayes, and Brown after the season. Without an impact recruiting player, I don't see the team being competitive after this season. Certainly not top 25.

Reyes to have MRI...might need TJ?
brewcrewdue80 replied to JohnBriggs12's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Well he'll miss 2017, but not half of 2018. He's got 14months to recover by the 2018 OD. So maybe 1month of the 2018 sure, but beyond requires setbacks. Will the Cardinals burn 1+ team control? They cant assign him as AAA 40man vs a 25man 60DL? Asking for the 2 Ws, and Leake to improve isnt a big unlikely. Leake is the toughest, but Wacha seemed far too talented to see him falter again. Wainwright came back from injury in 2015? Or during 16? I would expect somewhat avg ERA vs not. Here's where the Cardinals find a trade partner and get a real arm....Jose Q? Cubs fed them 1st round comps B2B seasons. May as well use one of those comps and get a trade done. -
I am surprised theres been this many predictions when its still far too early to be serious with the predictions. The Cardinals just lost their #1 pitching prospect. There is so much time to proceed through ST and avoid season long DLs. So I predict every prediction before this post will be redone after a major injury, or trade ruins nearly all these predictions.

Well BSOL would mean most likely someone who could stand a better fitness. That would probably fall on Wily Peralta most likely. Andrew Susac who I don't know to physical appearance, but a catcher makes sense to be that considering the 3headed challenge that is about to commence. My last prediction would be Domingo Santana since he rehabbed twice last year, that maybe that learning experience of health teachings I'm sure he endured, led to better habits when working out. Stretching or exercises that help refrain from injury. Which of all the Players I want to root for would be my pick to hear such talk from. I think he may possess the highest ceiling on the roster at this moment, though Broxton has the better defense/speed so WAR will reward him higher. But, I'm hoping a .270/.355/.545 kind of batting line emerges out of Santana.
-
Yikes, I would overload the stat taking.
-
The truth to the fact that most likely a SP goes down to injury and keaves the obvious 5 remaining as your opening day starters. I think 1 if not 2 of the likes of Nelson, Peralta, and Anderson pitch pathetic in Spring and receive appropiate demotions to bullpen or minors, or just released altogether. Of course, to become #3s with great numbers for another team. I think the decision making needs to be tough and release the weakest link heading in to the season. Likely able to find a mediocre trade piece for a minor salvage. Like Gennett, who shouldnt make the roster barring injury, you gotta move on from the #5s.Anderson is my best guess who fits this type, but capable to get a trade down heading in to Opening Day. Teams are certainly going to lose SPs to injury in ST. He fits perfectly the #5 youd like to fill in.
-
With the large loss to Georgetown, Im beginning to wonder if Marquette is even a play in seed. Theyve really ruined that Villanova win i thought stamped them in the tourney.
-
Sorry, #2 scoring, #2 mins played. So #2player. Over 30mins per game to replace. Which includes Starts. To be ready by the next game with who started, the rotations and minutes now being relied on. Easy to understand being shell shocked in. Nice to see a win vs. The Pacers.
-
Well, every bit my prediction is coming true. I wonder how much money Loria actually spent on the Florida franchise. I doubt it even approached any where near 1billion since handed the ownership. Wonder how this shakes out. The buyer proceeds to move the team after selling the stadium rights to a MLS franchise. My guess. Because even with this new stadium, they cant draw 25k avg per game. And now they dont have JF, who had to be a big draw, must see attend when hes on the mound. I wish Loria's contract handed out to Stanton, came with MLB forcing him to stay on as owner til that contract finished. Smoke and mirrors though to gain a higher sale price.
