HAHAHA AS Catcher+ LH RP that is exceptional for a team's #7 and #10 ranked prospects? Wow what are the Red Sox thinking having given up One of the Best SP prospects for a guy who made the AS team this season after a 1/2 season of good starts and 0 history of being a SP for a full season? That offer would quickly be countered by about 28 teams in MLB with a better Prospect alone offered than those 2 value combined. White Sox would just say here's Carson Fullmer. Done vastly better than this ******** idea. -

Count me as a non-Sheffield fan. I dont like averageish numbers across the tools board for someone that 5'10". Mackenzie is 6'5" and still filling out. That's exciting. Juan Hillman is 6'2" with the averagish tools Sheffield has. Id take him over Sheffield. Bradley, Mackenzie, &Hillman for Lucroy only. Mackenzie seems like a Francis Martes of Astros prospects. About to explode in rankings and becoming untouchable. While the Indians need RP too, they also need OF and can wonder if Kirk N. Would be a throw in to take Mejia or Chang or 1 of the lottos I mentioned before. Less than 2weeks to find out! Any day now -
I think if you include Smith with Lucroy to Cleveland. You get Frazier, Aiken, McKenzie plus a lotto type. Edit add. So looking BRef org depth. Oscar Gonzalez or Henry Pujols have thpse XBH stats I like to see. Pujols 17 3b has 6/4/4 2b/3b/HR and Gonzalez 18 LF 5/1/6 youd think Pujols in the trade if Frazier was had. Bradley vs Frazier and you get Gonzalez. Something like that.

Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 3)
brewcrewdue80 replied to A Swing and A Drive's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Kolby Allard was my favorite Pitcher predraft last season. Very high on his potential. Whats Atlanta doing to but themselves in a Playoff team potential? Well just like their international draft spending spree, Id imagine they spend big this offseason. Still have a great #3 hitter in Freddie Freeman to bat Lucroy behind. Swanson I'd expect on the team. While not impressive stats, Newcombe, Fried, Jenkins Probably all pitch for Atlanta SPs. Im going to guess Teheran trade requires a 2017 SP for them or they have Teheran leading their staff next season. What Atlanta gets in trade for him, likely dictates the level of Catcher they trade for. In the end, I feel like theyd trade for Derek Norris. Probably giving up a Jenkins or Newcombe SP....Fried would be odd because I think he was a Padre prospect previously. Reading the post and Gomes news. I think its time to deal for Lucroy. Ive like Cleveland many times now. Expect them to pay up and vastly improve their weakest offensive area. Now to say a Catcher learning new pitching excuse is removed as any Catcher for Cleveland is learning that staff. May as well make it the best hitting one. -
Braun trade value now
brewcrewdue80 replied to proudsoftballdad's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Wow, you know, you're right. I had seen 10seasons in his stats but service time is around 40days shy of 10yrs after this season. It was about a month ago, I read a MLBTR writeup that stated Braun has 10&5rights after the season and I ran with it. Now, still the teams that Braun can be traded to, you assume getting him now is better than getting him in the offseason. At least in the case of the teams who could use him towards a Playoff run. If they dont trade for him by the deadline, I just think they arent wanting to take Braun&his contract on. On the positive side. You Add the 2016 draft picks as available in trade come offseason. -
I believe the point was, it is difficult to predict on a year to year basis how a reliever is going to perform. There are only a handful of relievers in MLB who I would more or less pencil in to be good year in, year out. And I don't believe the Brewers have any of them. That's why they should seriously consider selling on Thornburg, Smith, and Jeffress. Going with your 2012 example, Axford had two very good years preceding his melt down that year. K-Rod the same. Relievers are fickle. Look at Smith's drastically improved numbers. And hes LH? Oh, hes Elite, its not as openly seen by fans because he has been becoming elite in a setup role. Ken Giles even Jeffress now, get some Closer saves, and people desire you. Philly moved Giles and got a huge package including Mark Appel. As i said a long time ago with Jeffress' age and closing results, since Smith was on DL and missed out as closer to start the year. Trade Jeffress. Keep Smith. He'll take over the Closer spot Jeffress vacates. And with my expected success Smith will produce, His Trade Value and an Elite status rising Jumps his value beyond anyone heres value, except mine.

Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 3)
brewcrewdue80 replied to A Swing and A Drive's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Sorry, no. Maybe for Marinez or a MiLB RP. Smith imo is a Superstar in the making as a RP. Smith becoming the next Wade Davis. Sheffield im not buying in to. And this deal doesnt include Bradley or Frazier or Aiken. These are All-Stars 2 and not getting a #1,2 best prospects for these two combined isnt going to sell this fan base. We may have an idea McKenzie or Bradleys potential. But Majority Brewerfans are losing 2faces of the franchise Smith more via Facebook&name fame. And getting back players that even at their ceiling? Are they future faces of the franchise? -
Braun trade value now
brewcrewdue80 replied to proudsoftballdad's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
You dont get it all, because youre not thinking Braun will object to any trade. I wonder if he'd rather stay in Milwaukee, barring the trade going to a team/city he desires. Say Detroit wanted him for trade. Braun has 0 desire to go. End of trade. Thats what 10+5 rights give him. What are you doing to convince Braun to accept Detroit as his new home/team? -
Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 3)
brewcrewdue80 replied to A Swing and A Drive's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
I'd put up with that deal for Lucroy alone and that's only if it's the best offer out there last minute before deadline. Adding Smith/Jeffress Is requiring Gallo vs Brinson, adding Tate/Ortiz Really both And then Tavares and Ronald Guzman. Smith or Jeffress are worth a top 100 if not a top 75 prospect minimum on their own. Lucroy has his QO, that's worth a top 100-125 prospect on its own. Then you add in his value both in money and as a player for acquisition. Team control/value on Smith/Jeffress. 3 of their top 5 plus 2others for an All-Star/#1 voiced Trade Candidate this season many times over+RPs that come with 3years team control and Closer worthy production. Brinson isn't exciting to me, I fear more failure than prosper. Mazara was the Prosper only no failure concerns. Getting Smith or Jeffress is acquiring 3+years of what are your High Floor value hopefully in Tate or Ortiz. But now, Guaranteed vs. Hopefully. Tavares is young enough to be an afterthought in Texas value talk. Years away, we can draft another Tavares with the QO pick we get if Lucroy leaves. Guzman, is just a position desire kick in. You can probably add any other non top 15 Ranger prospect, but that kick in needs to be there. Because 3 for 4 is not enough return value to Milwaukee. The 5th evens it out taking on prospects for Proven Players+Comp Pick. -
Braun trade value now
brewcrewdue80 replied to proudsoftballdad's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Any trade after the season requires approval by Braun. The six teams Braun has himself available to trade to, well you'd assume he'd still consider a trade to those 6. But the other teams in the league? He says no and that's the end of that, would be like Justin Upton saying no to being traded to Seattle some years ago. I think the value Stearns can ask from any of the clubs is reduced because Braun is in control of what happens. Trading him, while he has 10&5 rights would be a payroll dump this offseason. Payroll dumps are just that, dumping and the return isn't reflective of what Value Braun has heading in to this year's deadline, or any other deadlines. But Winter Meetings in the Offseason, Moving Braun is Selling him as a Payroll dump vs. a team Buying him before the deadline. -
So, if we agree that the Brewers aren't saving anything this year because they're paying Wilkins, then it's going to cost them an extra $24k next year to make it right to a valuable employee. The cost is a mad employee or $24k to soothe that employee over. Considering that Wilkins may very well go 0-fer his callup, what's the benefit here? Or, heck, maybe they win a game because of a key hit by Wilkins, again what's the benefit of finishing 18 games out of the playoffs as opposed to 19 games out of the playoffs? Saying "other teams do it" may be true. That doesn't make it smart. Especially when an extra win really has no value to the Brewers this year and Wilkins has no long term (or arguably short term) value. I'd argue that this is a bad move, simply because there's no benefit to it. It benefits Wilkins certainly. This could be his Only ML experience in his lifetime. And if that is so, Davies if he's any kind of Man, won't sit there and be a complete douche about it like Boras is. It's a good faith move imo on the Brewers part to give Wilkins some ABs. For Davies 24k is a chunk of money for him, yes, but for Mark A and the Brewers ownership, paying 24k more next season to compensate Davies is pennies to these guys. And especially so when Payroll is more than Half what it was last season! The benefit is to Wilkins and his family. Maybe one of these PH situations Wilkins does something special. For Davies or other players to hold a grudge against teams for 10days roughly with all the money they are set to make, I don't believe in it. Why have that attitude? Flat out, you're not taking the mound once in this timeframe, we can however have extra bat to PH or give someone a day off. Being upset about this move, just goes along the lines of what today's society is. Entitled. Sit back let your bosses do their job be grateful they are employing you. Is it a guarantee Baltimore would have him Starting games for them this season even earning a ML paycheck? I dunno if he'd have 15 games Started being with Baltimore still. Pitching vs. the Powerful AL East. Gets hammered and sent down potential. He's in a situation where he can relax, pitch and not worry about his results compared to if he was in Baltimore where every Start means Division Leading consequences/Playoff future stress. It's just like the deal Boston did for Hill. Aaron Wilkerson who has stats that are Promotion worthy instead being traded away, because his overall potential supposedly, is something Boston felt wasn't fit to be put in to a Playoff race as a Rookie. FWIW, Davies is over a 4ERA along with Fip. This isn't like Taylor Jungmann through 15games having under a 2.5ERA last season and now being demoted. Did Boras open his mouth when Trea Turner played 2games, went 3-3 with 1 BB and get optioned back to the minors? It's a business decisions are made that are agreed with or argued against. While Davies/Boras can voice partial displeasure, Wilkins and his Agent will be voicing gratefulness for the opportunity.

Come on, it's 10days watching baseball. He's not going to pitch with his time off from what it appears. The Brewers can certainly make up for the 24k with his next year's Pre-Arb rate. Give him 575k vs 550 or 540k. Giving Wilkins a ML payday has to be nice for him, and you show something, or watch him be released, but not before he's gotten a nicer check on his 10-14 day stay. Santana has an AS break set to return. So, barring 2HRs or a .500 BA in his brief stay, I'd expect he's just released when Davies can be brought back up for his next start. Wilkins' numbers just don't add up to be worthy of a RF or 1b numbers. Catcher/2b/SS you could maybe stomach them, but any other position and He's not reaching expectations.

The idea of what is the stat of runners scoring from 2nd base with 2outs on a hit can't be justified when comparing a Villar speed to a Chris Carter Speed on 2b. At contact with 2 outs he's gone, and you know windmill Sedar is sending him home. To me, that is a better 2out situation then risking the 3rd out at 3b(especially who is up 2-4 in order). 90feet catcher throw, or a 150+feet OF throw. 2. On that hit situation, OFs will know Villar's speed. To try and gun him out at home is bringing in to play the Hitter advancing in to scoring position at 2b. It just shouldn't happen unless the Pitcher is completely poor at holding him to the base, and you're facing a catcher who's not known as a Caught Stealing threat. Even then, it's reckless because he's doing this with #2-4 in the lineup. Meaning Hitting and cleaning up baserunners is what they are paid to do. To steal 3b and then hope to score on a Wild Pitch is so small an occurrence It's gotta be less often than actually getting thrown out.

Julio Urias was just optioned to AAA. It Happens. I dunno how to look it up for you. But, I recall reading on a number of occasions in Fantasy, a SP being optioned to AAA because of the AS Break and non need for a Start for 10-14days. Davies hasn't started for the Team All Season. First start was Game 12. You tell me a way to find those Optioned transactions for Baseball teams, I'll find some examples. Or waste a lot of time trying

Braun trade value now
brewcrewdue80 replied to proudsoftballdad's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Whatever is left on Braun's contract this year is the only amount that these two teams need. SF has a lot of money coming off the books next season. So do the Dodgers. So it'll come to about 8million? 6? I dunno what Braun will be owed by the Deadline or the week or two before it. If it's 15million cost this season he should already be down to 7.5million approximately. I've chimed in multiple times you could take Puig from them to offset some salary. If there were problems within clubhouse post trade, you move him in offseason. -
Braun trade value now
brewcrewdue80 replied to proudsoftballdad's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Too bad the Giants system stinks. He would fit there pretty well, plus they have money coming off the books after this season (roughly $50M), so paying him going forward wouldn't be that difficult in their salary structure. The Giants' system isnt too awful actually, especially related to what the Brewers could expect in a Braun trade. Phil Bickford was just ranked the midseason #50 prospect by Baseball America. And if the team could get rid of Braun while only eating about $30 million of his remaining salary, and get a guy who is a future mid rotation starter, I would take it in a second. He would slide into the #2 pitching prospect slot in the organization, which is currently filled buy a guy who is not really all that impressive this year in his 2nd stint in low A Ball (Devin Williams). Whoa, What?! Devin Williams as #2 pitching prospect? I wouldn't put him in my top 7 maybe even top 10 amongst Brewer SP prospects. FWIW Giants and Dodgers both placed 5prospects in BA's midseason ranking update. Which is awesome in a Braun trade because of both not on his no-trade list. As well as both teams would list Braun 3rd in team's payroll costs unlike the #1 he is here. Similar Prospect gets too among both teams. SP and 1b. You could take a Cody Bellinger/Grant Holmes Or a Phil Bickford/Tyler Beede and Chris Shaw. Each team having 5 within a top 100 ranking on BA really makes me believe Braun is traded to one of these 2 teams. Both have the talent to offset Braun. Edit Add: Belt is locked in through 2021 with the Giants. And AGonzalez is locked with LA through 2018. So 1b is blocked for both teams and using their 1b prospects would be ideal. Especially the Giants to use a 2015 pick would make a lot of sense to make Shaw available. -
Taken from 2015 MLB writeup on Rijo: Rijo tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in March 2012, yet the Red Sox still signed him for $575,000 out of the Dominican Republic when he became eligible four months later. He's very advanced for his age, no surprise considering he grew up around the game as the son of Dodgers scout Rafael Rijo, and posted a .764 OPS last year as the second-youngest regular in the low Class A South Atlantic League. One of several offensive-minded second-base prospects in Boston's system, Rijo has a quick bat and a knack for barreling balls. He has the potential to become a solid hitter with double-digit home run power once he gets stronger. He shows the ability to work counts, though he also gets overly aggressive at times. Rijo isn't as quick as he was before his knee surgery, yet his fringy speed plays up on the bases and in the field because of his instincts. He's an average defender with sure hands at second base, though he lacks the arm to play on the other side of the bag. He was ranked #11 on the Red Sox team rankings at the last 2015 rankings. Maybe there's upside. Maybe this reads as a RH Gennett. It's fine for me. As to Wilkerson, I read that Sox fans are a slight bit annoyed the team acquired Hill, and passed on a AAA SP who could have tried to fill a desperate need of #4/#5 on the team. Would not be surprised if Wilkerson gets a nod and Anderson gets sent down, especially if a couple/few starts by him look solid in Col. 1 Trade down. About 5 or 6 to go
-
I hope Mr Boras goes ahead and opens his displeasured mouth on every single move like this that is happening this week. I mean really? I've read multiple times in the past of a pitcher being sent down for the AS break, either to pitch a game or for this exact reason. And this occurs the same day Aaron Hill is moved, so shut your fat mouth Boras. One less bat, meaning Perez or Elmore at 3b means there is a need for another bench bat. What the team didn't need was a SP to sit on the bench, go home for AS break come back and sit on bench for 4-5games. There are multiple cases of this that have happened and or will happen. He began the season I suppose at 34days service time. His 1st start was game #12, 13days in to the season. So I dunno, Is Boras' displeasure because 12+10days potentially bring Davies in line to gain an added year of team control(but he'd become a Super 2) It's so screwy to get upset though honestly, this isn't your Kris Bryant here, but I guess it's been lacking thus far this year Boras' mouth, so he found something to open it over.

Another 100votes for Braun/Kinsler. Can't wait for the results being 5 or 20 times the total votes He received for the AS game since you can vote about 100 times in 10minutes.

' It says on the MLB site that voting goes through 4PM EST on Friday???????? Yeah my bad. It was just an update. But still, he ain't getting in. I easily put in 200 votes today waiting for work. Braun/Kinsler

Brewer Starting Pitchers
brewcrewdue80 replied to BrewCrewBlueDevil's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I'd think he means anyone that could be another Chase Anderson or Zach Davies. A Mike Clevinger would be about that kind of trade for. Not highly regarded but ready to be put in rotation full time. #7 prospect for Indians so he's a solid potential as to what Stearns means. -
I maxed my votes on MLB.com Brewer Players. It's absurd to me Braun didn't get in with the year he's having.

Braun trade value now
brewcrewdue80 replied to proudsoftballdad's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
I wouldn't think they could fit Braun. Werth and Harper are the Corner OFs. Revere is CF along with the talented but growing pained Michael Taylor. Werth has 21mil for next season and I'd expect 10&5 rights so you couldn't take him as a salary exchange for Braun. Maybe a 3team deal where he's still being moved to a Contender. The other problem is Ryan Zimmerman, who has fallen off drastically and stuck at 1b to have a sub .700OPS for that position and 3/48Million guaranteed after this season to still fulfill. With Scherzer and Strasburg making big bucks I can't see them being able to add on Braun's contract. The only thought process would be to do this for the rest of the season, and trade Harper this offseason for major prospects, Leaving Braun to take over Harper's place. Letting someone else deal with the headache of Boros and signing Harper in 3years as a FA. You'd still have the hurdle of Braun agreeing to the trade with Washington on his no-Trade list
