The Brand New Lucroy Trade Thread
brewcrewdue80 replied to splitterpfj's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Gallo and Ortiz/Mendez either is a better offer than Mejia and the other two Utility/4th OF types. I really hope that that becomes the haul. If you add the RP you add another top 20 prospect on Texas. Jeffress to me is the one to trade away Get Jurado plus someone lower. -
Lucroy to Cleveland - LUCROY HAS VETOED THE TRADE
brewcrewdue80 replied to And That's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I would hope the 4th piece is a Ptbnl Like Brantley was to Cleveland. Maybe be an Aiken/McKenzie/Clevinger based on winning division or a Playoff Series. But as of right now this is not a good deal. It's Mejia and Allen for Lucroy. Cheng is the QO FA lost exchange the Indians will get. Honestly, I feel like we're about to see Cleveland get a better deal for Gomes from Atlanta. Going to Bed, very annoyed at this return. Those Untouchables weren't touched. Chapman and 30-40innings got #1 prospect from Cubs about top 30 overall. Lucroy and 1.5seasons gets 1 100 prospect? No consideration of price nor QO compensation. Should have just kept him. -

Id guess awaiting what Lucroy brings. Theres another day yet. Say Bobby Bradley was included in Indians trade. Giants and Chris Shaw become same type of 1b prospect get. -

Once the trade is confirmed he can't pinch hit. But it hasnt been announced. Id expect he PHs for Anderson gets his hurrah with the crowd and then the news comes out of his trade. -
Pirates Trade Melancon to Nationals

Shows on Taylor Hearn's BRef page, he was drafted 4 times. The first out of High School by Pittsburgh. I didn't think that was possible to be eligible for the draft yearly? -
Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 4)
brewcrewdue80 replied to wildcat2237's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
He's probably become just a bit complacent. He's obviously read his own press reports, and feels like his time has come. If this were the case it is a bit of an issue, as he still needs to show up every day and outperform at every level, whether or not you feel like you deserve a call up. A guy that I am more worried about is Phillips. He is repeating AA after 250 AB last year, and the power has returned but he is looking like a platoon player eventually according to some scouts. He seems to lose a tick in production each step up the ladder, which isnt uncommon, and he is still above league average, but for a guy you plan on being your future All Star CF with a big bat, a 113 wRC+ isnt what you want out of a guy with his background. Mentioned earlier, but he's in a month long slump and statistically speaking, it shows. Maybe he made an adjustment and it's not working or just not 100% right for now. .259 .344 .478 on June 25th .225 .320 .410 as of today. Which is the lowest his OPS has been since game 1 of the season. -
Jeremy Jeffress trade talk
brewcrewdue80 replied to Invader3K's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Just a thought. Didnt someone here or rumormill, say Jeffress with his prior issues and recoup/recovery, that his ties within the organization are very strong. For his own sake Stearns didnt want to trade unless blown away? (such as a teams #1 prospect +) Im just cramping my brain here. But if that memory is mostly true, Stearns asking price is following that notion. -
Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 4)
brewcrewdue80 replied to wildcat2237's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
I believe I mentioned Pujols some pages back along with Oscar Gonzalez. Just due to seeing multiple XBHs in an early number of PAs. BTW, Bobby Bradley is up to 19HRs On his way to HR title in the League he's in. If you're not able to get Zimmer/Frazier I'd assume his bat headlines then next with McKenzie. You want a Run Producing bat in the minors, he'd fit the bill. -
Braun trade value now
brewcrewdue80 replied to proudsoftballdad's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Just to be clear, the debate about Braun's playing time. In 98 Brewer Games to 100 Cincy games. Bruce has 37 more ABs than Braun. Take it to PAs its 389 to 355. 34 on this season. So 1/3 a Single PA per game difference. Now, if you take WAR in to account BRef has Bruce at .9 total on the season, Braun at 3.5WAR. 55game rental for .3WAR? or 4years 55games for 1.1WAR this season and I'll crap the estimate to 10WAR total the following 4years. Which still averages out to higher per year than Bruce is about to collect. Btw, one player is having his best season in his career. The other is having just another productive season. Who's more likely to regress in the last 55games? Well, Crap. I see Bruce has a 13million option after this season. I swear I'd only read he was a rental. That does change some of the advantages Braun would present to Bruce. Bruce would come with a QO most likely after next season. Braun, not so much. Wow, I hate when I find something out that ruins any argument I have. Bruce won't cost as much in prospects but offers to return a pick in a year. Braun is getting put on the backburner until Bruce's trade is final -
Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 4)
brewcrewdue80 replied to wildcat2237's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Come on now. What do you expect from Arcia? Hate to break it to you but Andrelton Simmons was worth 7BWAR with under a .700OPS in 2013. 3+ with under .700 since. Arcia is a Gold Glove contending SS in progress. What he does with the bat is a bonus. To me he's exceeded expectations with his bat not failed. He's showing XBH ability. 31 thus far. Would put him around 50-55 in 660PAs and 175-180hits. SS isn't a position where you are to have .850+OPS guys. Currently there are 4 above .850 and 8 total above .800. 15th is .749. 20 is .664 19:.738 Arcia's .730 would put him #20 currently. Phillips a CF is also not where you seek .850+OPS. What you seek is defense and he's at 1Error on the season in 83Games. He's less than 40pts from where he hit last year and in the midst of a 1month slump. So you're looking at his worst numbers for the most part on the season. Maybe he's trying an adjustment and it hasn't worked out this past month. He's obviously blocked for AAA CF, maybe that's a problem wearing on him. Patience. Whatever it is, I don't see him failing expectations. He too has 31XBHs on the season. The guy disappointing me if Gilbert Lara. But at same time, Jake Gatewood is coming around and exceeding expectations. He'll probably find his way in to top 8 amongst Brewer Prospect ranks here should he continue with this surge. Just remember the production from Catcher/SS/CF are going to be more on the defensive side and Offense is a bonus. -
Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 4)
brewcrewdue80 replied to wildcat2237's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Remember how clever the Braves have been in trades. 3 team trade potential? Hernan Perez comes to mind but Elmore or Broxton too. Oh, and then there's Matt Garza. As to AAA guys or Single A. It's about ceilings. Clevinger and Sheffield don't rate as a high ceiling but I believe the floors get them a top 100 prospect ranking. I feel a lot of rankings when you're in the 60s-100 will include guys like a Clevinger who are close to graduating to MLB level. Fill out your top 100 with about 10-15 of those guys and as they graduate what you've created is the extra time to see guys you weren't sure about ranking in top 100 in A ball. When Clevinger pitches enough to be removed from the top 100, you can take the best thought guy of your 101-110 and say he's #100 now. When you look at grades within the rankings generally you see 40-100 looking the exact same, give or take a tool or two that separates. A power grade of 60 vs 50 but run or field of 45-50 vs 60. Clevinger according to MLB has a 60FB 55Slider 45 curve/Change 50 Control. 50 Overall. Medeiros/Ponce/Kirby have higher grades and Diplan/D Williams have a similar grading readout. But, Clevinger is 25years old vs the above still having some projection coming vs Clevinger already topped out. And that's your difference. McKenzie with his age and frame can still grow 1-4MPH on his FB taking him from a 60 grade to a 65 or even 70grade. Improves any bit on his secondary offerings and he's hitting 60 on those whereas Clevinger never touches 60. Clevinger is a no thank you for that reason. And why you don't necessarily trade for a AAA/already ML player when there's higher potential to be had. You find your close to the Bigs players when you're finding a guy who's blocked. Like Vogelbach was when the Cubs traded him away. But when it comes to pitching, you're going to be hard pressed to find a blocked Pitcher. If he's worthy of a Playoff run team he'll be pitching for them and helping. Clevinger is that type unless he's traded away for a veteran SP more ready for such. Cleveland isn't in that boat, but Clevinger is an injury away from helping and thus less likely to be had in trade for Lucroy's services. With position players I can agree there's better AA/AAA to acquire having a known. But with Pitchers, I'd look for ceiling if possible. It's why I want Frazier over Zimmer and McKenzie over Clevinger. Zimmer reads more of a CF profile whereas Frazier gives off a Corner OF profile. We have Phillips as the future CF. We haven't figured out the next corner OF high in potential. Santana hopefully recovers. But mostly lacking a true hitting with power Corner bat amongst the top of the Brewers OFs. -
Dodgers - Starting pitching
brewcrewdue80 replied to Madhawk23's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
What I read was that if Chris Sale were available, the Dodgers are willing to headline a deal using Julio Urias. I think that will be the Dodgers trade forthcoming. Curious to see what else the Sox would get after Urias. -
The 2017 MLB Draft Thread (#9 Pick + #34 & #46)
brewcrewdue80 replied to ZBTMP's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
While yes, we are taking a hit when we lose some of our players to trades, That is happening for other teams as well like SD parting with Upton in the last 24hours. I would think Atlanta, Cincy, SD are for sure bets to finish worse record than Milw. Oakland is another club I foresee slumping with trade aways (Gray, Valencia) Minnesota I think can overtake Milwaukee, they aren't losing talent and were a team above .500 last season. Tampa has the pitching and Arizona is vastly underachieving so I think they'll finish ahead of Milw. Philly and Angels may be competing with Milw for what I'm going to say is the 5th-7th worst records. We're still on pace for 70wins so with losing key players, 65-66wins becomes my expectation. That would have been 3rd pick last season. This homestand we could take 5 of the next 6 games putting the team above a 70win pace. (73 then) That makes 69-70 reasonable then and back to a 5th-6th type of pick. Either way, It's getting exciting the team potential that may be construed on the field in 3-5years. -
Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 4)
brewcrewdue80 replied to wildcat2237's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
BA lists a Prospect Report quite often. It'll have blurbs on some prospects such as this: Triston McKenzie, rhp, Indians. The Brooklyn-born teenager—he turns 19 on Aug. 2—continued his dominant season on Monday. McKenzie, a supplemental first-rounder in 2015, allowed just three hits and two runs in 6 2/3 innings against short-season Connecticut (Tigers) in a 3-2 win for Mahoning Valley. McKenzie is 4-2, 0.61 with 47 strikeouts and just 28 hits allowed in 44 innings. The 6-foot-5, 165-pounder is dominating young hitters with his advanced pitchability and plus fastball-curveball combination. Read more at http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/baseball-america-prospect-report-july-26/#B88xYigvr1hwVF0k.99 Also, has a gameday batting notes. Like seeing Gatewood have 2BBs and his 11th HR. He's at 12bbs now on the season to 104ks. But I think I recall it was once 1:81 or 83 So 11:22 we'll say since. He's also up to 24 doubles and really enjoying seeing his improvement in the stats. Now when will Gilbert Lara start showing that improvement? Anyway, Tristan McKenzie is the no-brainer in Lucroy's trade. He reads so well, I'd take less in the trade offers just to make sure it included him. He's a guy that is maybe headed to top 50, 100 for sure by season's end. Frazier and McKenzie plus the throw-in type. Utility or RP. That would be a quality offer a top 40 prospect, future top 100 or better and throwin. But McKenzie at 18 along with Diplan, F.Peralta, Ponce, Medeiros, Kirby, and D. Williams. There is a lot of future there in Pitching in 3years. -
So, Jean Segura looking at his stats, hasn't had 1 month below .700 OPS this season. He only had a 56PA month of May last season when he batted above .700OPS. So confusing how he's become this much better after last season. He's literally about better in every stat numbers this season in 180 less PAs. More Walks, HRs, Doubles!, equal in triples. Imagine the trade potential today, besides the Brewers offense if he was still on the team? 3b wouldn't be a problem.

I'd see Thornburg as the type a trade a team from outside the Playoffs as of today trades for, to at least make it appear there's some attempt to gain. That team to me is Seattle and reading through their prospect listing, Nick Neidert reads as a Thornburg. Just a year+ away from contributing to a ML ball club. Lois Gohara or DJ Peterson are directly ranked ahead of Neidert, while not top 100 prospects I'd believe they'd be less willing to part with. But any of those 3 would be my Thornburg trade headliner from Seattle and then I'd try to get one of their 2014 International signings of either Brayan Hernendez or Christopher Torres.

About last night's game, you know I believe it was Tommy La Stella AB. Smith pitched 4 straight Strikes only 2 were called. The ump and Counsell exchanged words mid AB on the 2nd non called strike. So instead of end of inning 3rd out.(Elmore's Error) Smith now had 2nd and 3rd 1out Bryant whom he intentially walked, Bases loaded and Rizzo a terrific hit on a great pitch. Low, Outside he reached out and put the wood on it. Of course Thornburg allows Rizzo to score because it just fits the ending to Smith's outing. So Remember that when you pick on Smith's outing, because a Rookie Error, Failed ump, and a spectacular hit on a quality pitch and then the runner allowed to score upon exit is what scouts watching Smith got to see. Nothing that warrants a lesser value on his performance last night. Elmore should have turned a Double play inning over. Or Smith got the strikes called on the next batter. Now, on a 90degree day, and these events happening, Smith did a darn good job where you give credit to a fantastic hit by Rizzo taking advantage of all the events that led to him even getting an AB.

Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 4)
brewcrewdue80 replied to wildcat2237's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
D'Arnaud and Smith don't do it for me. The Brewers have got to add another Josh Hader type SP ceiling in a Lucroy trade. Give us Steven Matz with Smith even D'Arnaud and the Brewers can kick in a Thornburg. Otherwise, Mets aren't giving the SP the Brewers need in a Lucroy trade. We need a TOR SP potential in a Lucroy Deal. To have what's considered #1 trade piece by most accounts this season is the best moment in time to get this type. Think about it. Who's going to be the next #1 trade piece in a Deadline deal for Milwaukee in the next 4 years? -
Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 4)
brewcrewdue80 replied to wildcat2237's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Astros have Francis Martes that would fit. Triston McKenzie gives me that future Martes ranking feel. Rangers in Tate and Ortiz I just dont like Ortiz as a headliner. I do have the partial feeling the home stand that runs through the 31st is a reason of delay these big trades forthcoming. I expect one trade to happen midgame where the crowd can give a parting standing ovation. Lucroys 2nd AB in a game type. Where hes batted a 2nd time already through 5, and top of the 6th he doesnt come out to catch. It takes an inning for the crowd and news to get around and after 7th inning stretch the announcement is made and theres your standing O. -
I have a high value on Smith. Saying 2 top 100prospects doesnt put ceilingin to the factor. Smith is a RP, Id expect a Pitcher whose ffloor is a RP but has a #3 SP potential. Justus Sheffield to me is that type of return. And then you gotta add a 2nd player. A prospect in the 7-17ranked in the system range. Thatd fall to Rob Kaminsky, Juan Hillman, Yu Cheng Chang, Or Yandy Diaz If I chose on The Indians range of 7-17 realistically of giving up and targets.

Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 4)
brewcrewdue80 replied to wildcat2237's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Theres interest in Lucroy. Worrying about lack of value? Hes been #1 now #2 trade for ranked player by MLBTR since they began ranking. Hes bringing back a higher return than Carlos Gomez who was not a #1 or 2 best player to trade for last season. I want higher ceiling. Frazier over Zimmer. Aiken/McKenzie over Sheffield/Clevinger. After that top two you can fill in the lower level high ceiling/huge bust potentials on the trade. Just remember that. Lucroy is the top or 2nd most prized trade asset. That value should come. AS Catcher-cheap-QO. Chapman doesnt have that. Bruce doesnt have that. .800+Ops at Catcher nobody can offer that as sellers. -
Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 3)
brewcrewdue80 replied to A Swing and A Drive's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Yeah trying to temper my expectations. I think if were netting a top 40prospecttalent then the return is reduced to 3 prospects. But if youre bbottom half top 100 to start, you get 4. That link of an exercise, the consideration of a QO after 2017 isnt being addressed at all. The 3rd piece for Lucroy would seem to me to be about what youd potentially draft in the 27-34 range 1st rd. The other factor ignored mostly is cost. 5.25mil for a 15-20mil production Catcher. Its like well you give up a Sheffield/Hillman type who's highest floor is of a RP. Well, 3/12million should afford you that type of RP in the offseason. Ready Opening day vs 3yrs from now. Things like that just dont seem to be applied. Its like if Lucroy were making 14million and you could kick in 5-8million, youd say the return improves. But since thats not even on the table? -
Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 3)
brewcrewdue80 replied to A Swing and A Drive's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Cleveland doesnt have to give up a catcher. They can trade Lucroy this offseason and go back to Gomes/Perez.. Probably get 2 prospects of the top 3 in value they would give up back. Any team that acquires him could use him as a rental for this year and trade him this offseason. Lets say Texas GM decides not going to put up with Gallo, and Luis Ortiz weight problem. You know disliking your prospects. He hears Cleveland offered Bradley and McKenzie. He likes them more. But Stearns liked Gallo/Ortiz more. Get on the phone this offseason and say Hey You can have Lucroy for Bradley/McKenzie. Lucroy isnt a rental, and can be flipped after this season. Atlanta likes him. In that scenario above youve sent McKenzie or Ortiz and now acquire Allard. Cleveland would benefit this season more than any other team, so why not grab him? If youre honestly upset about trading prospects for him, trade him this off season. Acquire some of what you gave up back.
