  1. Should at least confirm Stearns asking price. Also takes a Catcher of his caliber and removes any chance he's available to other teams.
  2. What are the reasons to keep him in the minors?
  3. Hader is over 400 IP. Jungmann was around 500IP Lopez and Davies also right around 500IP. He's got enough IP to be promoted. Especially someone who's pitching well. Not like Jungmann who was near 4ERA at AA and above 5 at AAA who's numbers indicate more time needing. He's under 3ERA in 165IP and under 1 with a 12K/9 in 8 starts this season. When is the last time a Brewer pitching prospect offered that after 165IP of AA ball. He's obviously due for a AAA call-up but again that's in Colorado Springs. If you're not going to promote him there, then it needs to happen to the ML level. So he can develop. Something you're suggesting Peralta can accomplish remaining up with the team? But Hader wouldn't get the same development? Wily for what it's worth had just over 160IP for his AA level prior to AAA promotion. Hader has about the same and with at least 10% better numbers to this point. Also can say the progression is equal with Peralta Age 22 of AA-AAA and Age 23 AAA-ML promotion. He and the coaches can gain some knowledge where he needs to improve on with a short call-up. Send Wily down. Send Hader back down when Garza is ready to return, should Wily continue his poor ways in the minors and moves on to the bullpen. To me, the problem could wind up being, he's deserving of some starts now since nobody else appears to be. Wait a month and suddenly Jungmann or Lopez are pitching to where they are worthy of ML starts and now you only reward Hader with a AAA promotion with calling up one of them two. Pitchers are fickle. One season awesome, the next awful, the 3rd injured. Use up Hader while he's awesome vs finding out he injured himself later this year and never returns to being awesome.
  4. You know, if Odor hadn't landed a better punch than Meyweather has thrown in the last decade, this would have nowhere near the response. You can't tell me you are happy that Gomez didn't throw a punch at Brian McCann when he blocked his way at the plate. The Texas team, and fans feel better after what happened vs disgusted. Who here wouldn't just enjoy Yadier Molina getting punched like Odor's by a Brewer? Bautista and Gibbons talk about the Rangers waiting til his final AB of the Season being Cowardly. How about Smart? You hit Bautista in the first game of the season series, how do you think the games are going to go after that? Fielder was hit immediately the following inning. That's game 1. Game 2 has Donaldson getting hit(he was ejected as well in the brawl) Probably see another Ranger hit. Or flat out watch the Jays run out on to the field and have a brawl. 7games to go probably another 5-6 more intentional beanings. 1-3 more brawls. 20-45games missed by players in suspensions. Being "Cowardly" results in little effects vs. it blowing up in first 40games of the season. Probably saved a batter from injury in the retaliation of hit batters. Or harder slides in to 2b.
  5. Okay in the idea of his service time and wasting a year. Well you would use up the days he's on the ML roster. When he reaches his limits you option him to the Minors and shut him down. I'd assume stopping his service clock. Little different concerns on service clock with Pitchers vs. a position player like Arcia. If you call up Hader you likely use an option and send him down after a start or 3. Same can be said for next season. Season after that. It's highly unlikely he's going to remain in the Major League roster once he reaches it without ever needing to be sent down. This thread is about Wily who's being questioned to be demoted. It took 3+years but a demotion would reduce his clock if he sat down in the minors long enough. Burgos doesn't even have service time after his 6starts in '13. The one thing likely keeping Hader down is 40man status. He'd have to be added. Probably something that won't be an issue in a couple months after a few trades. You can bring back Jungmann or Cravy as their service clock would appear to be a non-factor. Just, anyone that sends Peralta down for the time being. Replacing a 7ERA shouldn't come with serious expectations of either of the two.
  6. While Gallardo was here complaints were easy about his overall innings per start. He'd struggle to go 6. Wily is struggling to go 5innings now. He needs demotion. Doesn't matter to me about who's brought up. Lost season. Give somebody young a shot to stick. Rotate them in to whoever can stick. Consider the Minors demotion a change of scenery for Wily. You give him 4-6 starts to show improvement/earn his return. If he's not earned it. Time to move him to Bullpen. Starting isn't for him. It's 8 games started now by him and just 1 quality start. 1/4 of way through season. No longer talking short sample.
  7. Said it during yesterday's start. Time to be sent to the minors. Make him lose on service time potentially a year gained for team control. He's not doing it at this level for some time now. Doesn't deserve to be in it.
  8. Because a Scrub in the Minors living the ML treatment and who desires to reach the ML level is worth sending Wily to the Minor League bus treatment, hotel arrangements and that lacking lifestyle to maybe give him some incentive to improve on his performance to get back to the ML treatment. He's only had a 3game stint in the minors since September of 2012 for Rehab. There's been nothing to suggest to him he will have any repercussions for any poor pitching. Keeping him down long enough to effect his service clock? Hey Wily, you've got to wait another year to reach Free Agency you bum. Yeah maybe him understanding that or wanting to change that life will light a spark to find himself.
  9. Seriously send him down and hold him there til he earns starts again. His Service clock wouldn't add another year and say he pitched in September well, Can be dumped off to another team. He's certainly lost all trade value for this half of the season.
  10. Peralta with another one of these Roll Eyes starts. 4doubles already in 6outs. 3-2 Padres. Lets send him down already. Tell him he'll get called back up when he's pitched to under a 3ERA 21IP or more. May just finish the entire season in the minors the way he's going.
  11. Also FWIW: Likely an executive who's team is asking about Braun. Should Olney's executive he asks for opinion say, "Braun is a beast we could never give Milw enough in prospects."? Yeah great job, Mr Executive you've cost us more in prospects!! Braun is 8th in MLB in OPS with over 75PAs. You drop his OPS 100pts it's still 24th and that isn't considering all these names 1-24 who are surprises themselves to be where they are at. He's an elite hitter not making more than 20million in a year. I'm seeing at least 23hitters making more than Braun. If he's posting top 30 batting stats where's the overpayment? 27hitters in 2017 currently. 26 in 2018 currently. Alex Gordon just received a higher avg contract than Braun's through 2020. Braun's season last year was better than any of Gordon's seasons in his career. The only FA to be this offseason that even remotely has a chance to compare to Braun is Jose Bautista who's older than Braun with a likely pricetag that's going to compete with Braun's contract maybe more. I said earlier kick in the deferred amount. That's about 1year of his current obligation. But significant? Come on. 3million is about 10-15 1st rd draft slot value. Kick in 18mil? Better come with a 10-15 1st rd type of prospect alone. besides the value Braun brings.
  12. Grade this a poor mock. So for Cincy Ray is knocked down for having no Defensive future. Then throw Ray at the Brewers because having a draft year plus cold weather roots? (does the guy know Miller Park is in existence?) This upon mentioning Brewer ties to Perez and Groome with Ray the 3rd mentioned. Get to Marlins and it's they take Groome because he has Front Line Starter upside? LOL Come on! Trent Clark last season as 1st rd pick. So we draft another OF? Ignoring the desperation need of "Front Line Starter" within the club's minors? The Marlins have Fernandez and Kolek. So let's continue the build for them with another Front Line Starter as we are continuing the Brewers build with another OF? I haven't done my video scouting like last year. I'll say this based on early Mock and draft write-ups. Delvin Perez or a SP with upside. There isn't another option for me at this point. Groome, Pint, Hudson, Wentz, Whitley and Puk. These are all taller players so obviously the HS ages bring future projections with Puk/Hudson being more filled out. Ray at 5'11" doesn't bring that nor is he HS aged. Forrest Whitley his readup. Already a guy who's filled up his size for his height. What's the lack of mention going on with him? If he's offering 3 pitches with plus potential? 6'7" touching 97? from 92 the year before? Curve/Change. Kinda reads as someone that should be on the rise, yet he's not even in this mock.
  13. His Arb salary won't be vastly expensive. I'd guess 2-2.4million. That may be an over estimate. Will Smith as a Super 2 didn't get over 1.5mil. For both, they won't get too expensive next 2seasons after this year. Only maybe the last year in Arb would you approach an expensive year, which may be like 8million. Nothing to get emotional about.
  14. Voices are distinguishable. Doesn't have to see Harper to recognize his voice. Especially after having it raised towards you earlier in the game. I agree he should receive a susp. post ejection to get back on the field and fire more vocal shots towards the ump. That's minimum a 2nd ejection offense in my eyes. Which would mean another game. Just something that puts responsibility for his actions. Seeing especially has he's gaining traction as the #1 player in all of baseball. Call it a fathering moment. Because 18yr olds and younger are impressionable and right now it's okay to argue post game with the ump who ejected you.
  15. Well, we can address the idea come mid-July. What if the Rangers traded us Gallo for Lucroy? There's Hill+Walsh+Perez kinda taking up the 3b position for now. In my perfect world, Hill and Gennett are traded before the deadline. Arcia is called up post Super 2 chance. Villar is pushed to 2b/3b mix along with Rivera/Perez rotation among the 3. I like the fact Villar is bringing some OB+SBs to the top of the order. Fun mix in a couple months Villar, Arcia, and Braun top 3 in order. You still have Cecchini as a 3b to call up. I just think under the current roster makeup, it's more of why would you move Villar to 3b now vs him at SS currently? Who you got playing SS everyday?
  16. Walsh has a .437OPS with a .315 OB! He's slugging .122 lower than Jimmy Nelson and Taylor Jungmann. So he's a very good pitcher holding a bat who takes walks. He's got 55days to reach 90. Which is probably 49-50games? The only thing I can say is, does anyone think his approach has led to part of the resurgence in players taking BBs? Seeing as the team is so improved in BB rate vs last season? I know I mentioned his walk ability rubbing off on other players on the team does make for a solid reason to have him on the 25man. But, is he any of the reason, or guys like Santana,Carter, and Villar themselves more the reason?
  17. Well, looking at their payroll. They could fit in Trout's contract. But you wonder how that works with Harper. If the Nats traded for Trout. Do you go with Harper to Free Agency or just this year and next and trade him in the 2017/18 offseason? Getting back some of the value you lost in acquiring Trout. How do you even bat those two? Trout 2, Harper 4? It would seem like a waste to me to bat them b2b when they are going to hit 40+HRs each. B2Bs equal solo on 2nd HR. In one respect, you get one of the 2 best hitters in the game longer for cheaper should you get Trout and trade Harper in 2seasons who's FA $ amount likely exceeds 35mil Trout is paid. So rather than lose that after 2018. You get it through 2020. I will say, trade offer of Giolito, Turner, and Robles would be tough if I'm the Angels to turn down. Turner looks to be the Nationals future SS so it would be hard to see them trade him. They'd have a hole at SS. Certainly nothing coming up in the minors after Turner. That would require a FA signing. It'd be pretty crazy to watch 2 10WAR talents on the same team and not even in their prime age.
  18. Urias/Giolito for all the ML pieces either team would want from the Brewers and both Wash/Dodgers hang up the phone. The reason neither are up yet is because Innings limit/Super 2 status. Neither are on track to pitch over 130innings. So while both clubs can afford Super 2 it's lame to waste money on what won't be 100 innings for the 1st season.
  19. The reason I'm so focused to getting a TOR is that look at the standings. Cubs-Arrieta,Lester. White Sox-Sale-Quintana. Washington-Strasburg/Scherzer. Mets-Everyone but Colon. Seattle-Felix and Walker? Baltimore you could say Gausman. Pitts has Cole+future. StL had Wainwright, now Wacha/Martinez. Kershaw, Bumgarner, Grienke, Cueto. We're 8th in Runs scored. 6th worst record in standings. Scoring runs is great but it doesn't get you far when your team has #4/5s filling out your rotation and they aren't meeting expectations. It's just the knowledge that the team cannot afford TOR on the market. #3s? yes. We gotta fill the farm with as many pitching hopefuls as possible just to increase the chances of hitting on 1. One Ace can lead a club quite far just on his own. It's not just their performance, but also the trickle down effect it gives to the Bullpen.
  20. If we are to get a TOR prospect he's likely 2-3 years away. That's why you gotta get them in these two trades. If it limits our options so be it. The team that has the TOR are the winners in acquiring Braun or Lucroy. Braun already comes with the Clause that limits to begin with. It's not like the Brewers have just til this deadline to make a trade of either or forever hold on to them. Set your price and wait. We won't get TOR in any other way aside from development of own. And as of today it is barren of that potential. Don't get the TOR, this team is beyond 2020 before becoming competitive and playoff talking. And at that point we're having to recycle the Santana's and Nelson's.
  21. 4ks Walsh today. Including#4 in the midst of 9th inning walk fest. Rivera 3, Presly 3. I knew Walsh came with bb rate. But his inability to bat near just the Mendoza line... 54 XBHs last year. 1 thus far. 4hits total so Ks equaled his total hits on season! Wearing out his welcome. I want to be patient but that comes with improvements. He's started 6/10games. 1hit 4bbs now 9ks and lowered a .500OPS. Moving on I'd expect when Gennett returns.
  22. in a heartbeat, yes. Schwarber + for Braun? Absolutlely. Would be shocked to see that happen. Can you even deal players on the DL? I would not want ACL torn Schwarber in a deal. He was being moved off of Catcher to LF due to his receiving. He's LF due to already a lack of range. Just thinking he's going to quickly become a DH only option. =162 Pinch hit PAs as a Brewer since there's no DH in the NL. Again like the Lucroy trade the need is TOR. Cubs don't possess that. Whichever trade that happens first, had better come with the TOR. Because then your options change. But if you trade either first and don't get that TOR, you must get one in the other trade... And then your left with last ditch chance to get.
