The thing with Hanson is I believe he was a mid 90s flamethrower and successful and then suddenly he is throwing 88-90 with a lack of control. I would say that in his head since he cant rely on his FB to blow by the Batter he was trying to pinpoint and just wasn't the same since then. And let's not forget he pitched in Atl and in Anaheim. Pitcher friendly stadiums/Divisions. No on Hanson unless it's a Minor League contract. Hudson on the other hand? It would be a storybook comeback. I just don't see the Brewers being in the position to make it happen. He is out for all of 2014. So his comeback would be in 2015. The Brewers would be staring at Peralta,Nelson,Jungmann rotation. With hopefully 1 of Hellweg/Pena in the mix. I mean yeah he would look good to fit but you realize this isn't a SP when he returns. He will have 45IP of Professional ball in the 3 seasons prior to 2015. He will likely take 2 full seasons before even working his arm back up to a SP level. So that's 2015 and 2016 of Bullpen/Spot Start duty before in 2017 maybe becoming a SP again. And that's an awful long time to trust his elbow not to blow out again. I'll pass.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia to MIA: 3 yrs./$21M
brewcrewdue80 replied to TooLiveBrew's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Eh, in line with Russel Martin/ and Carlos Ruiz. 7mil a year isn't exactly opening the wallet for Miami when their payroll is what? 35mil next season? So whoop-di-do it moves to 42mil. Still under what I'm sure they get in revenue sharing before any single fan attends a game. Opening up the sign a bunch of guys to win it all tactic would have been signing Ellsbury and Cano and McCann something like that. And considering their overall team makeup with Stanton,Marishnik,Yelich,Fernandez as well as a young core of SP that at least looks filled with #3s. They are probably a really good #2 and a good 3b away from likely employing that tactic. Something that Stanton may net in the not to distant future. -
He's a 5-8WAR type of CF. Definitely better than Granderson. Bourn and Upton got what 15mil per? and I in no way would take those two over Ellsbury. He was a hott commodity sought after by a number of teams. Just think what Gomez would be getting in FA this year if he hadn't extended? Probably close to this deal imo.

It's not that Kelby. I agree value wise Aoki and Anderson should be close to equal. But that is if Aoki is being slotted in to that teams every day roster. If he's a backup. Why trade potentially a 30-55Start SP for what amounts then to a 30-55Start Aoki? The deal would make sense for Oakland if this were midseason and Crisp/Reddick/ and or Choice are out for the season with an injury. But at this point Aoki becomes the 4th/5th OF for them. Meanwhile Anderson would immediately become the team's #2 or #3 SP for Milwaukee. Now, take Rickie Weeks throw 8million Oakland's way and acquire Anderson? Trading away equal contracts/ player potential? That could be something Oak may consider before taking Aoki.
-
I seen they are looking to move Anderson and was thinking the same thing. Though, I think Anderson has higher value than Aoki especially considering the A's are set in the OF. It'd be one thing if Reddick batted from the Right hand side making Aoki a very Platoon worthy option over him. They also have Michael Choice as a 4th OF option who seems to fill what Aoki would essentially fill for Oakland. Dang, thought for a moment there was going to be a match here but no really doesn't fit Oakland's needs while filling a huge need for us.

Competition for Maldonado?
brewcrewdue80 replied to JohnBriggs12's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
He also has negative WAR ability/potential based on last season. There's no harm in looking around for depth when you have a player like that. Because "we have nobody better" isn't an excuse. Nobody is saying replace him. Just have a Plan B. Heck, what happens if one of Lucroy or Maldonado goes down with injury for a few weeks anyways? The debacle at first base last year should be a lesson that there's no such thing as too much depth. I believe McHenry was just dropped by the Pirates. So was Arencibia by Toronto. When/if that scenario happens, I'm not worried about potential available Backup Catchers that are Maldonado clones being available. Hey where's John Buck these days? I mean even in trade what is that going to cost? Kottaras netted Fautino De Los Santos. All 16 minor League IP since then? Sure the drop off from Lucroy to whoever takes the field in his place is a lot. But Lucroy is on that top 5?-8? Catcher in all of MLB level. It's a huge dropoff for just about any team from him at C. To put it simply: only 17 Catchers last season reached 2WAR in value. 18th to 50th ranked 0-1.9WAR or Replacement level type players. There simply aren't many every day Starting Catchers out there to begin with. Milwaukee is lucky to have 1. You're asking them to find a second? Half the League doesn't have an every Day Starting Catcher and you are concerned that we need a 2nd? -
Jemile Weeks traded to the O's
brewcrewdue80 replied to brewmann04's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Confusing deals today. Jemile Weeks for a 101 saves the last 2 seasons Johnson? Just to avoid 10mil in salary? At the same time, Oakland signs Kazmir and then gets Johnson so 20mil in payroll? When did they become splash the cash? Now, I won't lie, Johnson doesn't fit a typical closer profile and really seemed to outperform expectations. I have more trust in Henderson closing than I do Johnson. Maybe Weeks will do the whole change of scenery and become at least a contributor for Baltimore. But I'm not going to really expect much. I guess this deal works. Oakland likely wanted to remove Weeks from their Roster and they filled it with a contributor for this season. Something Weeks likely had zero ability of doing. -
A Logan Schafer for Logan Morrison deal has to happen right? I mean it makes sense, Schafer is 27 and blocked in Milwaukee. He is what you should expect for a guy who you were about to non-tender. Given his defense, Schafer has a shot to be a league average player who is cheap and the Marlins can flip him next year. And again, Morrison has zero WAR in the last 3 seasons. Schafer has been a positive WAR player when on the field. That's a step back in trade. I am still in the notion that Gomez needs to be traded. Because at the moment Schafer doesn't have much value. But give him a full season to play CF? Maybe his value turns to that of Denard Span's and we get back a promising pitcher down the road. Not a reclamation 1b/OF who comes with some personal issues. But no, Melvin and Co. are just to stuck in the today that they can't figure out how to trade players at high value and recycle talent. Curtis Granderson is now in the Mets radar. I mean take advantage of the Mets desparation for an OF and pick up the phone and ask for Syndergaard plus for Gomez. I mean 8mil for 3years vs. the 15mil per+ At likely 3-4years anyway. I'm sure the Mets GM would listen. Meanwhile Schafer has at least 2 full seasons to create his own value. We have Aoki if Schafer struggles. But this strategy sends Gomez away at highest value and gives a player a chance to increase his value. You would also be acquiring a huge impact SP in the future that already would bring back a decent return in trade.

Can we designate all the Gennett talk to his own topic? I for one would be thrilled to get Erlin for Aoki. We need that Pitching Depth and he's a darkhorse. Reads as a good changeup/Curveball. I feel more confident about him learning to make an adjustment to his FB especially from Lohse while already having the good secondary stuff. That vs the Flame thrower who needs to control and improve his secondary offerings. We know the results when only your FB is working(AxFord) Between Lohse/Gallardo and their remaining contracts, Acquiring a young SP is a big step in the right direction. And I get the feeling Erlin could be a reliable #3/4 for the Brewers like a Shaun Marcum type numbers.

Competition for Maldonado?
brewcrewdue80 replied to JohnBriggs12's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Yes we would have a backup Catcher problem no doubt. But Maldonado's true success was when he replaced Lucroy playing every day in 2012. Catching every day may make him that .240ish Catcher you hope for vs. being the maybe .200mendoza line Catcher he is when playing sporadically. -
He's controlled through 2016? The answer on who is traded for Morrison is simple. Hunter Morris. Game over for him if Morrison is acquired. So may as well swap unwanted 1b. And the fear of trading away one of the few top pitching prospects we have for him? Come on Morrison is a career Negative! WAR player! How does that make him worth Pitchers who are going to far exceed his output? Now, moving to Miller Park away from Miami Stadium may help Morrison inch closer to the .800OPS vs being a .700 OPS player he is but that's it. To Be honest, Looking at Morrison today is like looking at Rickie Weeks numbers the last couple of seasons. So maybe we just trade Weeks plus cash for him. I'd rather just play Morris from day 1 than acquire Morrison, unless we can get rid of Weeks or trade away a non impact player in the Brewers Future. How about Blazek? Essentially turning Axford to Morrison would be great.

MLBTR lists that San Diego is looking for a lefty bat and lefty reliever. Stating that Robbie Erlin may be the guy they offer to get that player. Seems about the right deal for Aoki no? He was a bright looking prospect for SD until last season at AAA took a step back but still made it to the Big Club and his final 5 starts netted: 32IP 27H 7R 7ER 7BB 24K 1.97ERA 1.063WHIP He's 23 so a very nice youth movement on to the Roster. Reasonable?

The Package the Mets would have to put together for Braun had better be the Upton Package put together by the Mariners last offseason. Otherwise, don't even bother making an offer. That would have been: Taijaun Walker, Stephen Pryor, Charlie Furbush, and Nick Franklin. That's a true Ace projected SP. A projected future Closer, A 7th/8th inning RP, and an offensive minded SS. 3 super projected players for 1 superstar. From the Mets you would be staring at: Noah Syndergaard. Brandon Nimmo, Gavin Cechini, and Rafael Montero. That's a dream package but its for a dream OF the Mets are desperate to find.

Competition for Maldonado?
brewcrewdue80 replied to JohnBriggs12's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Really don't see an issue with Maldonado being backup. He's cheap. Plus defensively. For as bad a year he had last season he was just a -.1WAR. This after being 1.6WAR the year prior. He's the backup with Plus WAR ability/potential for under 1mil/yr. I remember when Lucroy was on the DL in 2012 people calling Maldonado the true Brewers Catcher long term. Obviously it was premature, but I'm not forgetting what he did in 2012 because of 2013. Personally I look forward to him being the Brewers capable backup for another 4-5 seasons. And it'll likely cost the team 4-6mil total for his time served as backup. We know what Maldonado provides as Catcher. Great Defense,Reliable. The Offense if it comes is a plus. No need to try finding and paying for essentially another Maldonado. If there's a FA Backup catcher on the market it will be of the same short-comings Maldonado has offensively. Or the opposite, defensive shortcomings with offensive upside, but I promise you that will cost 3mil or more. Not worth it. Also, Maldonado is one of those players that I see being excellent trade fodder for Milwaukee. A decent run offensively or at least an avg. ability offensively with his defense could be very appealing to many a team when one of their catchers may go down. I've wondered Tampa's potential buyer for Maldonado before. I just see him as fitting a small market's playoff push roster addition if they need a Catcher down the stretch that won't hurt their bottom line. What would he return? Depends when that trade happens, what his offensive stats have been, how many more years of team control exists. Baltimore is another team that if they move on from Wieters and his rising cost, could look at Maldonado for value at C. With the thought of trade value in mind I'm sticking behind every appearance Maldonado makes. Because you don't know how much added value he may accumulate with each. And I don't want to take that chance to accumulate added value away. -
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/reds-to-re-sign-manny-parra.html Taken from it: Parra, 31, enjoyed a tremendous rebound campaign for the Reds in 2013, posting a 3.33 ERA with 11.0 K/9, 2.9 BB/9 and a 43.8 percent ground-ball rate in 46 innings. Parra demonstrated a significant platoon split, however, holding left-handers to a brilliant .167/.237/.238 batting line but yielding a .310/.370/.524 line to right-handers. His ideal role appears to be that of a left-handed specialist, though his usage will depend on new manager Bryan Price. Last season, Dusty Baker split Parra's time evenly, allowing him to face 95 right-handers and 93 left-handers. Under Price, who served as the team's pitching coach in 2013, Parra completely abandoned his slider and changeup in favor of a fastball/curveball/splitter mix that appears to have been quite effective. He also saw his average fastball velocity jump to a career-best 93.4 mph. Happy for him. Sad that we took a talented pitcher and wasted his prime years developing him. Lose Slider/Changeup use Fastball/Curve/splitter mix. Why didn't our coaching staff figure that out?

Ah yes 24,25,26 being considered young. Yes the problem is none of those players were considered top 50 or even top 100 prospects...Well, Segura yes but he's not a product of our system. Meanwhile within our division: StL: Oscar Tavaras age 21 Kolten Wong age 23 Shelby Miller age 23 Carlos Martinez age 22 Trevor Rosenthal age 23 Michael Wacha age 22 Mat Adams age 24 Seth Maness age 24 Pitts: Jamieson Taillon age 22 Gregory Polanco age 22 Alen Hanson age 21 Nick Kingham age 22 Gerrit Cole age 23 Starling Marte age 24 Jose Tabata age 24 Cubs: Javier Baez age 20 Jorge Soler age 21 Starlin Castro age 23, Anthony Rizzo age 23 Junior Lake age 23 with Albert Almora age 19 and Kris Bryant age 19 top tier prospects in the immediate pipeline Yes we're old and out matched in terms of young talent, whether on the team today or in the immediate future. How's it going to work for Milwaukee in the Arb years for all our guys? Let's say we keep them for the full 6years team control. These guys will be 30/31 come time for Free Agency. What's the odds any one of them gets a QO? Now look at the future big three in our division. Especially Stl/Pitts. Their players will graduate to Free Agency age 27-29. How attractive is that whether in trade? Or even for QO purposes. How about not only having young super talent but Locking them in beyond 6 years of team control? Stl will have Ace type Pitching 1 through 3 in their rotation for 5 more years minimum. Martinez pans out that's 4. Take Miller,Wacha,Martinez and extend them til they are aged 32? How do we look vs StL. for the next decade? That's what we're staring at a decade of Stl/Pitts with Ace...True Ace Pitching for the next 10 years vs Milwaukee. And then here they are with top 20 Position Prospects to back them up to boot. Meanwhile we're here discussing Gennett and Davis pretty much all those listed above aside from the one guy who didn't come up in our system Segura as being capable moving forward to keep us competitive. Look, there's a reason these guys didn't crack top 50 prospects. It's either Offense or really, it's Defense. Gennett/Davis aren't gold glove or Plus defenders. So while they may, just may be worth 5-20Runs above Replacement offensively. They will be in the costing the team 15runs to maybe gaining 2-3 runs defensively year to year. And we sit here with no Ace pitching how's that outlook? When not only do Pitts/StL have Aces today/in the making but prospects who will be a net gain in runs defensively to support them/ while being adequate with the bat. Tell me something more if our team of non top 100prospects are 24-26 in age how much growth potential do you really think will occur as these less talented players mature? Now think about how the age 21-24 top 50 Prospects StL/Pitts/ChC have and the growth potential beyond what they've shown already will be as they mature? Yeah that is why I advocate blowing it up when possible. Or avoiding signings of Kyle Lohse for a draft pick. We're outmatched/Outgunned now, today, and in the immediate future. Waiting on aging assets to get the job done or regain value they have been losing hasn't been working. Continually failing to maximize a player's trade value to get younger leaves us here. I don't even care if those Prospects don't pan out. Milwaukee needs to build through youth as Crew has stated. Recycle the talent for more youth/cost controlled players as the approach Free Agency. Rather than as they approach Free Agency to sign them to 2yr/3yr extensions. Taking chunks of payroll with it. Saving the payroll for the Brauns we find are what is necessary.
-
My guess is Morneau having the previous MVP season makes him another 3-6mil in cost over Hart. And I'm suggesting Hart gets 10mil. 1b is weak so there are numerous bidders for both Hart and Morneau and the Brewers stand zero chance of competing unless Melvin opens up his wallet and pays 1 of them 10-13mil next season damn the results.
-
Texas has been in a trade search for cost controlled SP. So, pretty much no one on the team. Gallardo may be the only one I could see bringing over Moreland. But that's a lost #2 we need to even compete moreso than replacing 1b to compete for 2014. And Moreland isn't worth Gallardo, Texas would have to throw in a top 5 Prospect in their system before I'd consider pulling the trigger. Honestly, if Texas would take Lohse for Moreland, imo that's is approximate equal value. Because in the AL, I fully expect Lohse to have a 4+ERA making him a #4 in value. Oh no we lose are best Pitcher...But we gain 11mil in payroll this season and next. Something that taking a flier on a different FA pitcher may work. Scott Feldman or Scott Kazmir. Plan on Gallardo being your #1/Peralta 2, Estrada/that FA signing mixing 3/4 and then mix of Thornburg/Nelson #5. I'd really enjoy having a Lefty Starter for 1 but a Younger Pitcher in Kazmir...(Say we go 2/22mil on him at age30/31) Maybe he performs enough to deserve a QO when he departs. Or to say the least his age and potential is likely worth more in Trade than Lohse. Meanwhile we fill 1b for 2014/2015 with Moreland at least hoping he's keeping it warm for a resurgent Morris.

Your posts hit before I sent my last one PFX1 but: Add in Ramirez and that's 50 more runs, then add Hart and then we are in 1st place with 859 runs scored compared to the Cardinals 783. It's not even close. I just posted that leading the NL in runs scored in 2012 was with 776. Mind you that was with a better than previous MVP season by Braun, a better than expected output by ARam, and a very productive season by Hart. We're talking your 3,4,5 hitters having basically their Best Case Scenario season of production in 2012. Don't forget the out of nowhere .320BA Lucroy had. Something this season's .280 is more realistic of expectations. Aoki had top notch production in 2012. That's 5 batters whose production was 120% of a realistic expectation. All that to finish the season with 776 runs scored. So 859? Honestly? You figure the production difference would amount to 200runs over the season vs. the production we did get by the replacements? ARam did appear in 92games to you lost 70games of output. 100 games by Braun and the full 162 by Hart. That's a 2full seasons worth of replacements on the roster between the 3. And you figured it amounted to 100runs for each roster spot? I mean Betancourt did have 13HRs and Francisco had 13 that's 26HRs in replacement production. Or about what Corey Hart should be expected to produce. So no way does Corey's missing roster spot amount to 100runs? And Khris Davis's season amounted to half of Braun's missed games. A .280 11HR/27RBI for 1/4 of a season's PAs is a pace of 44HRs 108RBI Exactly in line with Braun's best expectations. So where's the second 100Runs?
-
Losing the players we lost mainly in the middle of the line-up costed us 10-15 wins. A ton of wins. That is us missing some serious production. With a healthy line-up which is what we should have had heading into this season Gomez's numbers should actually increase. That what a great line-up will do to everybody in it. Let's go with a BRef stat: Scored 640 runs, Allowed 687 runs. Pythagorean W-L: 76-86 Milwaukee's this season. Cleveland's this season: Scored 745 runs, Allowed 662 runs. Pythagorean W-L: 90-72 Just keep in mind that Milwaukee having lost 18more games than Cleveland is 18IP that our team doesn't have to close out so the projection would be closer to 695Runs likely. So with maybe 100runs more production I don't see 90wins out of having 3,4,5 in lineup all season. 2012's: Scored 776 runs, Allowed 733 runs. Pythagorean W-L: 85-77 I think it's safe to say that we are looking at an 85win team if everyone was healthy and didn't miss games. That's on a max. The argument though is we had no knowledge of how well Segura would play. If Gomez' bat was going to be for real. Our pitching situation was a complete mess. Axford,Henderson and then the rest of the bullpen pretty much all new additions. SP was Gallardo and then running out Peralta,Estrada with Fiers,Rogers being their 4/5 Gorzellany and Thornburg being 6/7. That is an awful looking bunch to depend on to expect on to take you to win 85 or more wins. There were just way too many question marks on pitching to be counted on as leaving the 2013 Brewers contenders. So we sign Lohse and actually even signed Rodriquez. And for what could have turned out terrible, they both exceeded expectations to get us to respectability. On paper the 2012 Bullpen vs what we had on paper for 2013, I'd had laughed at you if you said the 2013 bullpen would outperform the 2012 bullpen. And that's just it. On paper looking at 2013's roster, nothing stood out as saying that a Kyle Lohse signing is what will take this team from pretender to contender. Sure Offensively you'd have thought we'd score 700runs again easily. But giving up under 650? That's what the team would have needed to do to honestly be serious about winning the division. Lohse didn't change the outlook of the team from saying we went from 81wins to 88wins. What he changed was taking the team from an 85-92 loss team potentially and make it look like a 78-85loss team. Either way you look at it, you're not a Playoff team. And that outlook was with all going right. That Hart would only miss the first 3 weeks of 2013. Segura would be for real, Gomez was for real, ARam wouldn't have a down year or get injured. That Weeks wouldn't have the first half again of 2012. If everything went right then I could believe we were an 85-86win team after signing Lohse. And even that was tough with who we were staring at for 8th/9th innings. I see it as Failed Drafts leaving a poor farm that needs to be addressed and a Major League club who's a .500ish team but not Playoff quality nor set up well for the playoffs(Our Pitchers vs. Others) And instead of willing to improve the most where needed we do the opposite, ignore the farm, and try to improve the Major League team with a old, aging and very questionable on helping the team achieve anything other than .500 ball.
-
Why? Because they can afford to. Billingsley and Beckett (at 27mil salary cost between them) aren't looking like Opening Day #5s for them. Haren takes over the #5 that Capuano held. I think Dodgers Stadium is more a Pitchers park than the Nationals Stadium. But clearly this is the type of signing along with Peralta's that shows FA is out of Milwaukee's league. Hart will sign for this type of deal I bet 10mil with incentives to 13mil and likely something like 500PAs option for another 13mil
-
PFX1:Lohse was better than Gallardo last season and you guys are complaining about that deal? seriously guys. Lohse had 1. 1 single season in 12 where he was better than a 3WAR. in 2012. Majority of his "Good" seasons he was just above 2WAR. He was 33 coming off the highest IP in 1 season EVER for him.(Something that has been mentioned about Gallardo's ability that the IP have taken it's toll) He's costing the team 11mil or 1/9th the teams total payroll. And cost the team their draft pick. Sure, with History that pick may net 0WAR for his career. But at the same time he could have turned in to a team friendly, low cost 24WAR player during his time in Milw. Lohse's history would indicate that at best we get 7WAR for 3years at 33mil. I will always complain about the Lohse signing due to losing the draft pick unless A: We trade Lohse for a top 75 Prospect before he departs. Or B: None of these 10 players amount to 7WAR+ in their careers. 17. Chicago White Sox: Tim Anderson, SS, East Central CC 18. Los Angeles Dodgers: Chris Anderson, RHP, Jacksonville 19. St. Louis Cardinals: Marco Gonzales, LHP, Gonzaga 20. Detroit Tigers: Jonathon Crawford, RHP, Florida 21. Tampa Bay Rays: Nick Ciuffo, C, Lexington (S.C.) HS 22. Baltimore Orioles: Hunter Harvey, RHP, Bandys HS (Catawba, N.C.) 23. Texas Rangers: Alex Gonzalez, RHP, Oral Roberts 24. Oakland Athletics: Billy McKinney, OF, Plano (Texas) West HS 25. San Francisco Giants: Christian Arroyo, SS, Hernando HS (Brooksville, Fla.) 26. New York Yankees: Eric Jagielo, 3B, Notre Dame And heck just to give Lohse a C option: He pitches Cy Young-like 2012 with an 18 or more win season under 3ERA with 210+IP. Still, it is hard for me to even consider changing my opinion towards Lohse because the team is looking very old, with zero, 0 top 100 prospects in its system to step up and replace the aging players leaving in 1 or 2 seasons. And knowing that we are pretty much the worst marketed team in tv for payroll help means the gap for us to sign any kind of "Band Aid"(like Jhonny Peralta by Stl at 14mil!! PER) is going to be non-existent. It's been said over and over again but Tampa's way of building through the draft as well as trading their stars for premium prospects when the stars are in high value. Versus at no value(Corey Hart,Weeks,ARam,Gallardo) is where the FO needs to follow in.

Yankees sign Brian McCann 5/$85 mil
brewcrewdue80 replied to brewmann04's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Braves have a Catcher Prospect named Christian Bethancourt who is just in range of being ranked a top 100 prospect. I don't know for sure the loss of McCann is going to be all that big. At least for the money they have freed up to use elsewhere -
Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, JJ Hardy, Yovanni Gallardo are all Brewers draft picks and All-Star MLB players. Weeks has overall been a disappointment but was a All-Star, as was Hart. It hasn't all been misses with the draft picks Yes how many different drafts was that over? (checked 6drafts) 2009 Stl Cardinals got Shelby Miller 1st round, Joe Kelly 3rd rd., Matt Carpenter 13th rd., Trevor Rosenthal 18th rd., Matt Adams 23rd rd. So there's 4 all stars in the making and 1 very good player in ONE Single draft for the total of the 5 you pointed out...Let's add Lucroy and make it 6. Also, hitting on a #2,#5, and #7 draft picks aren't something to raise kudos to the draft/scout team. You're picking from the cream of the crop and it's very hard to miss on your selection. The real problem is 1st rd. selections since Braun that have produced for Milwaukee: None. Zero for 14. For Stl: Colby Rasmus, Lance Lynn, Shelby Miller, Kolten Wong(future), Michael Wacha, even add Replacement level Pete Kozma. 6 players in 8 drafts...not 1 selected higher than 13th. Their scouts and draft boards, as well as player development are getting it done. Just look at the list of players there for Stl. Being high for 5 selections from 8 years ago or more? Meanwhile Stl. churns out solid selections at least every couple drafts. We should be seeing a JJ Hardy or Yovani Gallardo draft pick every 2 years. With tossing in a sleeper selection deeper in the draft like Hart. It's just not happening
