  1. Nice. Hope the top of the lineup produces some HRs or Wily is in for another 0Run Support night something I read he leads the Majors in.
  2. See New York Yankees 3b of 2014...ARod suspended. Youkilis gone. Oh and DH? BRef lists Yankees DH as Hafner. 3 Players all of whom will be gone for 2014. Don't know who we could get from the Yankees. I guess it really all depends how much of ARam's salary they can handle to remain under the luxury tax threshold. But the Yanks are who I see working a trade with for ARam for 2014 season.
  3. 5-2 1-5 1-2 1-2 2-2 Where does that leave us? 23games under .500 yet sadly battling 5th,6th or 7th on the draft board. Houston,Miami,White Sox, Cubs, and then wondering if Twins,Padres,Giants and Mariners find a way below us or not. Brewers need to find a way to go 2-5 against the Cubs and make their way below the Cubs last in the division. Henderson has done a terrific job losing games this past week. Just gotta keep it up. Hopefully Wood/Samardzija pitch in both series. And the Mets series considering they are pitching Harang and Dice K in their rotation, You gotta think 3-1 if not 4-0 in that series which may actually bring them back to Milwaukee in the standings. I hope Melvin has a lose at all cost order in store to make sure Mets don't tank enough below Milw in those final 4games.
  4. Let's get this correct. ARam IS NOT making 20mil next season. He's making 16mil. And in the 2015 offseason it would cost Milwaukee 4mil to buy out of the 14mil ARam would make in 2015 if they wouldn't keep him for that season. Personally, I see the Yankees as ARam Suitors in trade with ARod looking gone for all of 2014. And you wonder on 2015 if ARod/ARam become a quasi-DH/3b on that season depending who's legs allow them to take the field while the other DHs. If that happens I luv the idea of Lucroy 4th with returning Hart then at 1b 5th, Gomez 6th and Gennett 7th in the lineup. This especially with Lucroy taking over the leadership part of this team(over Braun) and batting him 4th then for next season as letting him fully take the weight on his shoulders of batting cleanup and showing what it means to be a leader.
  5. Why would an infield play in with 2 outs?
  6. Congrats to Scooter on his accomplishment. As to the argument on his value. As it's been stated 2b isn't known to have guys with .700+OPS and if Gennett projects to be a .700 OPS guy only is that such a bad thing? What amazes me is that by saying hey Scooter is the 2b for the future...Well how long is that Future supposed to be? Why do we have to attach 6years to it? How about just 3? Can we live with Scooter for 3 seasons making what? 600k avg. in that span as .700OPS 2b? As I recall, baseball teams aren't just made up of a ML roster with no "Prospects" coming up in the woodworks. Ahem. Orlando Arcia? I mean obviously Segura isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Oh and how about the top draft prospects in 2014? Trea Turner? Jacob Gatewood? What if the team winds up drafting one of them?(I know SP! right!) I'd expect them to make it through the ladder in to the ML roster within 4years. So again replacing somebody at 2b/SS and based on our projections...Gennett would be it. Personally Gennett fits everything I'd want on this current team Lineup. Bat him 7th behind Gomez at 6. Gomez's speed combined with Gennett's BA should amount to number of Slap hitting Single RBIs out of Gennett. I like the duo those two could/should have in the batting order. Something Weeks long standing non-clutch hitting made that duo incompetent. Keep in mind this is with the Aoki,Segura,Braun,Ramirez,Lucroy batting lineup for 2014. I'm personally not looking to sign Hart to play 1b with Francisco/Gamel/Green/Morris in the mix to attempt to fill that void. And thus figuring they bat 8th. It's bad enough to wonder how long Ramirez's knees will hold up but to add Hart in to that question mark just seems foolish for the likely asking price. My 2 cents on Gennett and my approval to play 2b on Milw!
  7. Just for comparison sake on these worries. Troy Tulowitzki on June 9th had this season line: .351/.419/.654 in 234PAs 16HRs 51RBI Since: .265/.346/.420 in 182PAs. 6HR 18RBI Yes that's still a decent slash line for a SS but how bout one that calls Coors Field home? Keep in mind Tulo has 0! Triples...How many could Segura have driving balls in to the spacious OF of Coors? Much less Doubles. Or random HRs each month. I'd think Segura's struggles since his early beginning to the season would at least equal the struggles Tulo has been having since his early tear. I'm not worried about Segura one bit.
  8. For trying to be realistic this is rather unrealistic. The only part that is realistic is the last sentence. There is no way the Orioles would accept that deal or even think about doing that trade unless there was a starting pitcher with at least a #2 upside in that deal. Gennett and Davis are platoon players not everyday players so I don't see why the Orioles would want to give up 2 years of Norris for basically bench players. The Orioles already have someone in their farm system that is better than Gennett and is younger in Jonathan Schoop. Davis would struggle to find any playing time in the Orioles OF and would be regulated to a platoon role. I am struggling to see the reality in your post other than the parts about Weeks and Hart. I don't see Melvin trading for anyone as there isn't much to trade to get value back. Davis is probably the best player to trade to get value back if he continues on his hot streak which I doubt he will. Davis is a nice 4th OF but you would have to get lucky and have a team over pay for him the Rays would be an interesting team to talk to in terms of a trade. I would try to get a #3 type of a starting pitcher upside for Davis which would be a little bit of an overpay. My post is pretty much sarcasm on the running theme I read on BNet of RRR's refusal to play young players, and Melvin giving him the old Vet's to continue to manage that way. As to your assumption Gennett/Davis is worthless to Baltimore? Brian Roberts and Nate McClouth are both FAs this year. 2b/LF Seems like a good fit for them to do my trade idea. You talk about Schoop being strictly 2b when prior to this season he also dabbled at 3b(Blocked forever by Machado) and SS(Blocked by Hardy at the moment) Will Schoop join Baltimore next season vs. having a ready Gennett to play 2b for them? Finish 2014 and guess who's a FA? Hardy. Who plays SS for Baltimore? So I am being realistic with that trade idea. Folks talk about Davis being a bit more suited for DH Something that Brian Roberts played tonight and Danny Valencia the night before.... So thanks for shutting down my idea being completely "unrealistic" when I find it to fill a couple major holes for Baltimore heading in to next season. What I should have said/added to that was Milwaukee throws in a SP in the deal...Estrada? but that to me seemed beyond overpay on Milwaukee's part. Edit Adding: I came up with Norris because much like Shaun Marcum he has 2 years left in arb to go. And to me Norris is a poor man's Marcum so I figured hey Norris equals Marcum as to Davis and Gennett equaling Lawrie. A continuance of letting our roster age and get older.
  9. Let's be realistic here. The true path Melvin and Co. take would be this: Pick up Aoki's option Trade BOTH Scooter Gennett and Khris Davis to Baltimore for the 2years left in Arb Bud Norris. Creating a great combo of Chris "Chrush"/ and Khris "Khrush" Davis in their lineup. Weeks stays on the team at 2b with Bianchi/Yuni being the backups. Hart will be resigned. Melvin & Co. will see the Norris acquisition the difference maker to their Starting rotation. Expect healthy ARam/Hart/Weeks to return to the lineup and hit at All-Star level ability and all this will result in a Playoff berth. Proving once again, Melvin can't get away from the old and play the young. Sacrificing 12years of Davis/Gennett for 2 of Norris. Wasting 1 yr of Schafer/Gindl by keeping Aoki. And in the process leaving way more questions on what the future of what this team looks like in 2015 when all the vets leave. But hey, they are reactionary run organization not Proactive with a look to the future run organization. Theyll patch a team together someway for 2015 when it gets here.
  10. Big Series Losing Swept by LA Angels over Milw. Pretty much jettisons them to finish ahead of Milw now in the standings. As it looks now, Colorado is about to get a healthy Carlos Gonzalez back and with Angels now 4.5games ahead of Milw that Milwaukee is in the 4th to 12th draft pick running. 6games separate 3rd worst to 12th worst in the standings. Seattle has called up Taijuan Walker along with those hitters called up couple months ago. Play vs. (3)Houston/(3)Angels 6times all other games are vs. Playoff contending teams. Definitely capable to be passed by Milw. Philly has a fairly easy schedule remaining and I find it tough to see Milw passing them. Toronto strong hitting, weak pitching. With their schedule I wouldn't be surprised if Milwaukee finished ahead of them in the W column. San Fran/SD Good News they play each other 6times. Somebody has to win which means 1 will remain ahead of Milwaukee in standings. Bad news someone loses and that makes them a good bet to have Milw pass them in standings. San Diego has a tank it type schedule vs. San Fran/Col/Phi and playoff teams Atl/Pitt/LAD I have zero faith in San Diego finishing with more Ws than Milw when the season ends. Min/CWS/CHC these three teams are gutted now and I just figure there's no way Milwaukee finished below them. All told I am seeing Milwaukee finish with the 8th selection and potentially 9 or 10 with Tor/Sea struggles to finish the season. Finding losses vs. the Cubs is key to Milwaukee's improving their draft standing. Finding Wins and a 10th pick looks all but likely.
  11. Is there any reason whatsoever to not just trade Ramirez this offseason and bat Lucroy 4th? I mean how clutch has he become? Big Loss in the Standings. A little breathing room from LA now 3.5 back vs. 1.5 back had Henderson saved it. I am still a Marco Estrada fan, and I hope he's the #4/5 next season. Good control, solid with the Ks. He's a flyball pitcher in a hitter ballpark, if he went to a Pitcher ballpark, I'd bet he'd post under 3.3ERA as a SP.
  12. McCalvy made it sound like the PTBNL will be named next week in which case it wouldn't hinge on Axford's success. Wasn't aware of that when I made my post. I had read it was going to be decided in the next month. Makes it even less likely the Brewers get anyone worth anything in this deal aside from the salary relief and not having to deal with the process of Arb in the offseason.
  13. Applause? Maybe. I hope Ax pitches circa 2012 for Stl. down the stretch just so Pitt can win the division. But at the same time, You have to wonder the quality of the PTBNL may hinge on Axford's success for Stl. before being decided on. It's doubtful the player is anyone worth future promise to make the Bigs though. We'll see. Non-Applause though because with Axford out, Figaro called back up, I see the bullpen winning another game down the stretch vs. losing 1 and that 1 win is going to be costly in draft position. This may have just assured the Brewers don't get a top 10 pick anymore. I'm foreseeing a 4way tie for 8th in the draft in which Milwaukee finishes with the 12th pick in that scenario due to tiebreakers....
  14. Not sure why you keep on suggesting this but this would be a horrible idea. Gallardo would be a rather horrible relief pitcher as it is not his velocity that is the problem here it is that he keeps on nibbling which is why he gets high pitch counts and doesn't stay in the game as long as he should. It would be a disaster waiting to happen if he was moved to the bullpen. Gallardo in the bullpen is just not a good idea. Why do I keep suggesting this? Because a SP that is closing in on only avg. 5IP a Start isn't helping your team. Especially if he's going to be a 4+ERA Pitcher moving forward. Why would it be a disaster? I'm confused? Any added velocity is good for a pitcher whether it's an issue or not so that doesn't make sense to suggest velocity isn't an issue. What's 92 and can be fouled off vs. 95 and whiffed at improves Yo's pitch counts per IP. Is there something I'm missing that Yo who was our #1 SP heading in to this season, suddenly is a disaster of a pitcher coming out of the bullpen? Please show me how that works? Does he become wilder? because he may be pitching b2b2b days vs. his every 5/6day schedule? I just don't see Yo remaining a reliable SP because of his "Nibbling" pitch style. Whereas, he can nibble all he wants coming from the Bullpen being asked for 1IP? He was at pitch 49 when he got McCutchen to hit into that double play to end the 3rd inning. A hit there by McCutchen and it's pitch 50 coming up with 1out in the 3rd inning. That was a Game Changing Double Play vs. a team's best hitter. Something that I wouldn't count on Yo to win under that same scenario more than he loses. It's really a moot point though honestly for me as Yo has just 1 more season with Milwaukee that based on how the team stands today isn't headed to the Playoffs next season which makes the last season Yo is here not overly meaningful how Milwaukee uses him.
  15. That was a huge Double Play ball there for Gallardo. Doesn't get that, I doubt he pitches past the 5th inning. Now he just may see the 6th inning. I just don't see Yovani as a SP anymore. It's time to send him to the bullpen very much like Tommy Hunter/Brian Matusz in Baltimore. Gain some velocity and be effective again.
  16. Hey nice hard fought win to move to 7th in the draft order....3 games to 14th! Let's get that "Stuck in the Middle" we wish not to achieve!
  17. Kills my Fantasy Baseball Teams! Not to mention sadly not getting to keep him for next season likely. What's sad in this is that he only had about 15-21IP left on the season before being shut down. Such a talent to lose potentially for all of 2014
  18. Count the Mets as in full blown Tank mode now that Harvey is out, Buck/Byrd trade. Probably best fail team to take 4th in the race for 4th. Maybe even 3rd if ChiSox aren't careful! This now leads me to seeing Milwaukee as best draft pick scenario being 5th worst 12th. And you can't help but feel the difference of 5th to 12th will be 4games.
  19. And now the White Sox are 8-2 in past ten games. Still with the #3 pick position. But that was what my previous comment in this thread was trying to show. The Brewers are so close to picking outside the top 10 vs. picking in the top 5 and the money difference(in turn expected quality of talent to be brought in) would be a huge disappointment to finish 10th when 2 games may end up being the difference in a 5th selection. Remember the Brewers lose in tiebreakers to almost everyone in the bottom 14. I was trying to show that 1mil+ in available slot money is worth an expected 1st rd. pick type of player. 4th to 6th is 1 alone. 5th to 10th is 1. It's going to be frustrating to see 1 or 2 wins that wind up putting us "in the middle" vs. adding 1 more 1st rd. player in quality. As that is what our organization needs! It's lame to root for losses, but it's a lost season, the best way to improve next year's outlook is to continue losing and improving our draft position. Not playing .500 ball or a couple few games better than .500 ball.
  20. Molina 6-7 to this point in the 2 games. How about a bean ball anyone? At least some chin music to make him uncomfortable at the plate! Yeesh!!! Hate Molina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO MUCH~~~
  21. 5th and rising for draft choice. 2 games to 10th 3games to 12th/13 since 11 is last year's 10th. 3.5 to 14/15. 4th worst to 14th worst record in baseball is separated by 4 Games! And only San Fran and LA Angels lose in tiebreaker with Milwaukee. Brewers on pace for 70wins and 14th on pace for 75wins. That would have been 8th worst and 11th worst last year. With the Brewers losing tiebreakers I'm feeling a more likely outcome to be they pick outside of 10th than they do 5th or 6th as they stand currently. The cost to each move down in draft order: 4th: 5,838,500 in 1st 2 picks plus 3,908,600 in international pool Total: 9,747,100 5th: 5,048,400 in 1st 2 picks plus 3,636,900 in international pool Total: 8,685,300 Difference: -1,061,800 6th: 4,746,100 in 1st 2 picks plus 3,395,200 in international pool Total: 8,141,300 Difference: -544,000 -1.6058mil on 4th 7th: 4,444,500 in 1st 2 picks plus 3,179,900 in international pool Total: 7,624,400 Difference: -516,900 -2.1227/1.069mil on 4/5th 8th: 4,306,000 in 1st 2 picks plus 2,988,100 in international pool Total: 7,294,100 Difference: -330,300 -2.4430/1.3393mil on 4/5th 9th: 4,168,400 in 1st 2 picks plus 2,817,100 in international pool Total: 6,985,500 Difference: -308,600 -2.7526/1.6479mil on 4/5th 10th:4,031,400 1st 2 picks plus 2,664,600 in international pool Total: 6,696,000 Difference: -289,500 -3.0421/1.9374mil on 4/5th 11th:3,922,300 1st 2 picks plus 2,580,000 in international pool Total: 6,502,300 Difference: -194,300 12th:3,824,500 1st 2 picks plus 2,500,800 in international pool Total: 6,325,300 Difference: -177,000 13th:3,727,200 1st 2 picks plus 2,426,000 in international pool Total: 6,153,200 Difference: -172,100 One way of looking at it is finishing 4th to 5th to 10th. 4th to 10th is worth 2 1st rd picks in money or another top 10 selection in money. 5th to 10th is worth another top 20 1st rd. selection in money. The difference of 4th to 6th alone is 1 1st rd pick in money. There needs to be some "Tanking" going on to secure as close to a top 4 selection as possible!
  22. How dare a team succeed having offensive players not reaching .800OPS? Ask Pittsburgh who has 1 single player above .800 OPS? How dare St. Louis with 3 everyday players below .725OPS succeed at CF,3b, and SS? How dare Cincinnati succeed with 3 everyday players below .725OPS? 2b,SS,3b? Wait a second..2b? Brandon Phillips? He of 92RBI? but only a .717 OPS...I guess he's not worth a roster spot? How will the Brewers ever survive letting Gennett play 2b with .725OPS or lower expectations?
  23. Sorry all, I Streamed Wily yesterday in my fantasy league thus his poor outing. When my opponent streams him vs. me he pitches shutout ball. When I do it he gives up 5+ERs
  24. Where does the money to sign a FA come from? As Monty as pointed out the Brewers are staring at 92mil in commitments currently. Of course they could non-tender Axford and that will save 5+mil so then we're around 85mil. Still not a lot of wiggle room. Oh, and the QO if used, I'm not sold the Brewers are going to finish with a top 10 pick anymore(so wouldn't be protected). This month on schedule looked to be their toughest month and they've essentially played .500 ball in it. They're 3games from 11th and 3.5 games from being 14th. The team needs a 12game losing streak for me to be confident in calling them a top 10 pick guarantee. This was once again something I hated the Lohse signing for because it meant the likelihood of securing a 70+win season and "BEING STUCK in th MIDDLE"!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Something Melvin Swears he doesn't want to be caught in!????? Well Great, Lohse solidified our rotation to accomplish just what you didn't want for 11/mil yr and cost the team the pick. Nothing makes sense! Should I be optimistic? Not with every win the team has taking away allotment money in the drafts with each pick they wind dropping lower. The fact that news is out that Braun is approaching admitting using PED's in 2011. So how good is our former Franchise player/MVP going to be going forward? Hunter Morris isn't improving his numbers so 1b will be an issue once again. Our pitching is looking brighter but I still look at the staff as not having a single ACE. And it's reaching to say they have #2s going in to next season. Just a bunch of 3s. Nothing wrong with 3s for a season but it's not good for H2H in playoffs. See 2008/2011. And we actually had Aces those 2 years.
  25. In other news. The Blown win by our bullpen keeps the Brewers tied for 5th worst record rather than tied for 6th worst and 2games from 11th worst. I keep looking at the standings and teams are coming back to us. At current rate I'm fully expecting the team to finish 14games under .500 and still wind up with the 13-14th pick! Losses like tonight need to happen. 14 games under .500 to 20games under .500 I see as being 5th pick to 13th pick. over 6games in the standings. The Brewers need to go on a losing streak here to solidify their top 10 draft pick standing. They continue playing .500 ball and there's no chance they finish with a top 10 selection. It's a lost season, we need to keep losing!
