  1. Well in the long view of things, Houser has a longer future than Lindblom. It's like I mentioned Houser has near elite EV. Groundball tendencies. If somebody hits a flyball it's not for a HR. For somebody with 5 pitches he doesn't have a strikeout pitch it seems. So the upside is there. 4 younger Starters how about that?
  2. I think Joc Pederson is going to have a very good offensive season for them. No division in baseball has fewer left-handed starting pitchers than the NL Central, and the crossover for inter-league play is against the AL Central which is second lowest. Projected Left-Handed Starting Pitchers by Division AL East - 10 AL West - 9 NL West - 9 NL East - 8 AL Central - 7 NL Central - 5 Um. So can we speak on the FO acquiring LHBs? Wong, JBJ, Shaw genius? Keeping Vogelbach seems guarantee now. Think I just raised the Brewer win total in my mind 5 more games.
  3. Houser must be the epitome towards getting Wong. For all the damage done today, not a single fly ball by Colorado. All ground ball hits aside from line drive to first batter. Its was close to every runner that got on base scored. The wild pitches are his responsibility and help see 2 runs score later. He induces soft contact and grounders which should lead to success. Colorado was 9 for 17 on batted balls in play vs Houser. 530BA. 2 were liners. 15 ground balls. Fastball Freddy gives up more fly balls consistently but ks at a high rate. I agree that he should be sent in to bullpen. But it's understandable why they want to see him succeed as a Starter. He's near the top on statcast on opposing hitters' exit velocity. If some of these ground balls went for double plays vs through the hole, seeing eye hits....saves a lot of what went wrong today as well as 2 outs on 1 swing of bat equals better ability to go 6+ innings. Believe I heard 95 high velocity, one of these seasons he'll drop one of his 5 pitches and take off.
  4. It's a little bit of tough luck and at same time self imposed. Ground balls that go for hits. 3 infield hits in the first alone. A passed ball that led to a sacrifice run. Than a RP who allows both inherited runners to score.
  5. That's gotta be a send down after that game. Ala Lauer similar send down after multiple bad outings. Devin doing his K thing again. 4ks out of 5 outs by D-Will and Hader. This team is going exceed expectations.
  6. I will only predict the Pirates to win less than 67 games. After that. I'll wait til Opening Day to list the other 4. She how healthy the teams are and what their rosters look like then.
  7. Im not sure if the comment on average speed wasn't referring to the Nick Markakis comp at NCAA? Though it is off-puting to say Mitchell as a Corner OF. At the same time how gutsy for the Brewers guy to say he believes there isn't a better position player prospect than Mitchell.
  8. Not the best of days for 4/5 Garcia-JBJ. Like to see this team put up 6 runs or more before the 5th inning in one of these ST games when it's an everyday starter lineup.
  9. Just seen a stat. Baylor has attempted a total of 7 shots inside the 3pt line. And they're beating us with a basic 3pt pct game.
  10. Did they score a pt between the two tv timeouts? What a missed opportunity to close the gap. Yeah none of these players are NBA picks any time soon if even 10 day contracts
  11. Seen lineup for today. Gotta be what happens during regular season when JBJ starts over Cain. Bump Arcia and Urias down when its Narvaez or Pina catching.
  12. a player can be given an outright assignment more than once. it's just after the first outright assignment, that the player has the right to refuse the minor league assignment and become a free agent. nottingham has never been outrighted before, so it remains a possibility (if he were to clear outright waivers). Cant a team claim him but then still stuff him in their AAA even though he doesn't have an option? It was something I think happened not long ago that I feel shouldn't happen. The claiming team imo should be forced to place him on 26man or return back to Brewers in this instance.
  13. As has been mentioned, Brewers like a veteran RP and they've made a move acquiring one. Boxberger or mystery RP give you just that. Zimmermann seems the type for sacrifice bullpen recovery, bad Start toss 3-4 innings. I like Suter in that role simply because how fast he pitches. Make a bad game end all the quicker. Boxberger has no history to be that. Feyereisen deserves a full shot. There may actually not be a need for any veteran considering the teams depth of arms to call upon. Suter, Houser, or Peralta should be capable of 4 innings. Rasmussen? Is he another you put down for that role? I know you want to give him an opportunity to stretch out as a Starter still. Mckinney, Vogelbach, Fisher I wouldn't care if none of the three make the roster. Keep an extra Pitcher as innings limits from all 6 Starters are something to manage. Counsell likely pulls a Starter early often the first half of season. 4-5IP. You don't want to tax the bullpen, so that extra Pitcher seems more appropriate. JBJ's signing makes 5th OF/PH rather big waste of roster space.
  14. I wouldn't mess with the swing this year. We're starting behind schedule after no games last year, changing his swing vs competition he should whoop and seeing poor results during could hinder his game mentally. Just let him advance with the approach today til he seems to stall(if at all) Comparing Taylor ignores one being a college aged player and the other an 18yr old who clearly needed a change. Watching the YT video at UCLA, yes swing looks shorter contact type vs letting be a little longer and more destructive. He's a CF at this time not a corner OF. Bring the defense, OPS in upper 700s to low 800s, he's a keeper for a long time. He's bringing high EV to the table already. What youre essentially upset with is not enough HRs in today's 3TO batting. He can tinker as his career advances, raise the launch angle and take off ala Yelich. He is still in the minds as a top 100 prospect, talent we need to advance up the minors quickly.
  15. Well Gute has moved up in 1st rd each of last 2 seasons. Think he's got the bolded covered when it's his guy.
  16. Here's where Arcia is at. 2 years to FA. Time to go shine and make 10s of Millions a year in to your 30s. His improvements on statcast numbers, should it continue, then he's going to be sought after. We'll know after a month-plus if he's improving or that short sample season caught him during a hitting streak for him. The higher EV and higher launch angle means balls getting past the infielders. You give him another 1MPH EV and a 2-4pct higher launch angle than last season his bat will be taking off. Now, the pessimist can look at being the worst or near worst batter and saying there's improvements behind the numbers, well he could only go higher from worst. Like said we'll know in a month-plus of games if he's finally improving or if he's still batting near the worst in baseball, at which point I'd expect him optioned or waived altogether.
  17. Where GB is in regards to cap space, do the draft picks become something to consider? If GB trades down out of a 1st, do comparable trade value equal more, less, or equal value to what rookie pay will be? How about vice versa? Trading up with multiple picks save money paying upgraded pick for 1 over paying the 2-3 picks you gave up?
  18. I wouldn't call 5/15.5M a big contract ...I don't think it necessitates him being in any particular role. Although it would be tough to pick up his 8M options after if he was in the pen unless he was a pretty dominant reliever. The team bought out his team control vs just going year to year in Arb. I'd think that to date Peralta is trending results wise where Brewers have overpaid for that buyout.
  19. If Dominguez is the next Mike Trout he should finish the season on the Yankees roster. (Or is that a year from now?) Checked he has a year. Or start the 2023 season for Acuna jr comparison.
  20. My thought on Lindblom is that having 5 pitches is too many and he needs to focus on two and 3 that are his most effective. Sorta like Burnes going away from a pitch he threw. And at same time Peralta is taking the step forward because he's pitching a 3rd pitch effectively. So maybe Lindblom just suffers from pitch sequencing. People complain about control but pitches arent meant to be meatballs. Swing and misses on the movement that moves out of the zone is what Lindblom wants. But guys are taking the pitches vs swings and misses. Now the count favors the batter and a FB becomes much more predictable. Watching Peralta the FB is electric when seeing the movement on slider. Pitch looks 2-3 feet different finish maybe more. All that said, point being that Lindblom may just be 1 pitch more often and 1 pitch just nixed away from taking off as so many times pitchers have had happen(like Burnes-like Lohse late career)
  21. Wasn't Hiura's 1st PA the HR? I know he's learning a new position but the Ks suggest he's npt improved his contact issues over the offseason.
  22. Can he play 3rd? Start him in AA already how exciting is he? As to Burnes, I see Milw opening day on 1st with the next day off. Woodruff you would assume who started yesterday as Opening Day starter. Maybe Anderson is considered the #2 since he won't have innings limitations? Burnes following day line him up for game 3? Houser/Lauer today maybe the battle for #5 one Lauer inexplicably is losing. How can a nice start to his career turn so rapidly like he doesn't belong on a ML field even as a bullpen pitcher?
  23. If Wong is one of the best on the base paths and Cain is no slouch to 1b I'd imagine turning a double play being hard to pull off. Pairing Wong Yelich together exploits for both a 90pt less OPS vs Lefties.(approximately for their careers) i truly believe we'll see Cain atop the order vs LHP and Yelich bat 2nd then. With whomever RHB vs LHP best #3. So in a perfect world with Yelich healthy 162 games there's about 36-40 games he's #2 and 122-126 games he's #3. If there's 18 PA difference for #2 vs #3 (post above)in a 162 game season what is it then? Like 10PAs? Arguing on Yelich batting order spot in a perfect world.
  24. Superb. Love the analysis-statistics. If youre looking Wong, Cain 1-2 the HR debate gets a lot harder for argument. OB in front of your best hitter during 1st innings which Starting Pitchers tend to struggle before finding a groove. Add to it Yeli's likely high OB and your cleanup hitter can really put a 1st inning hurt on what is normally a good to stud SP.
