  1. And thats absolutely insane for a kid with 183 professional ip approaching 4 years from drafted. Hader was on the SP trail who ran out of time to become a SP due to how good he was but how much further in IP he needed to become a full season SP. Gore has 0 chance to give you more than 170IP the next 2 years. But he's going to be pushing for a call up (if the rankings are spot on) by end of this season. Certainly early in to next season. He may fall in to high-end RP when all is done. Julio Urias comes to mind. A top 3 SP prospect who surpassed the minors level before he was ready for a season full of Starting in the Majors. Now 5 seasons in he has a career 3.3 WAR. 172IP as a Starter to. 67IP as a reliever. TJ was needed by him. See how bad that derailed his career. Here goes one of many examples why that trade proposal is insane- https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/03/astros-forrest-whitley-suffering-from-right-ucl-sprain.html Forrest Whitley was inside the top ten prospect rankings. An injury plus later, he has 0 ML IP what will now be at minimum 4years after such ranking. His prospect ranking as dwindled what does his value as a #41-80 prospect look like in a Hader trade? Oh and you know it'll drop maybe out of the top 100 altogether. Every year you can likely take a top 20 pitching prospect and see them go down to injury or prospect ranking tanks. 1st rd pitching selections have so much bust potential as the helium from just the draft often overinflates where that prospect should rank. I know it will never happen but it'd be nice if a prospect ranking site had a minimum requirement to be top 100 in first place. 1st rd picks arent just inserted in to top 15-40s because they were on most top 10 pre-draft lists.
  2. Just remember Braun was around to bat 3rd and Cain leadoff. R-L-R. Pretty obvious Wong-L will be leading off so Yelich will take over #3.
  3. It is a fact that the only position player we have produced is Hiura since Stearns & company took over, but how does that compare to MLB as a whole? In the 2016 draft there were 11 players available when the Brewers picked that have gotten 200 MLB ABs thus far. In 2017, Keston was the only player available when the Brewers picked that currently has 200 MLB ABs. The 2018, 2019 & 2020 drafts have predictably produced zero players with at least 200 MLB ABs so far. By producing one position player with at least 200 ABs from the last five drafts the Brewers are already ahead of the 18 teams who have produced zero. Given standard prospect development timetables, expecting a caché of MLB ready position player prospects in such a short time frame seems unrealistic to me. Turang and Mitchell wouldn't surprise me seeing the majors next season. So there's that to consider on position player drafted talent. But complainers going to complain right Brewers888?
  4. So a non-profit group has ability to take naming rights of a storied NFL Stadium?
  5. Does he even have the bat for Catcher? He's certainly interesting for 3b option. I'm thinking right now the team is committed with Shaw as backup to Hiura and Arcia. 1b\3b. But at same time it's really hard figuring out the team's plans with Shaw since his date out is soon and he's barely had any gameplay. 1.5mil guaranteed and gone by March 15th would be a headscratcher if looking at it like he didn't win the battle on to the team. Vogelbach is a wonder what the team does with him. No defensive flexibility so figuring Shaw has backup to Hiura, hes staring at PH role. Thinking he'll be released before contract is fully guaranteed at last cutoff. He's probably around now in case of a significant injury to any starter up til that cutoff.
  6. Also totally unrelated. Jimmy Nelson has actually pitched for the Dodgers this spring I think it's pitching ninja? On twitter. When they showed Ashby's 3pitch. Scrolling on their page I seen one of Nelson with a full-on 12-6 curveball for a caught looking. Hope he can play productive for a few more years healthy. Even if it's for LA. Not the pitching ninja but another post of pitch I was talking about.
  7. Brewers FB page posted the strike 3 pitches from today. Kid should be a top 60 prospect. Those were RHB that had no clue vs a lefty. The future is bright when he arrives to Big League.
  8. After Wong and Bradley, and ST started, I think the FA signings can realistically be called done. The moves now likely come from trades/waived players that dont make teams they currently are on. 12-13mil was also your price for Turner had you signed him. Say a guy like Shaw is out there on another team that 10 days from now isnt added to that team and becomes a FA maybe that is your next FA signing.
  9. Whoa. I never thought of reducing to 8 batters for lineup, but I think that is a great idea. This would create more PAs to the stars in baseball. Or maybe to compensate you reduce games to 8 innings to speed it up while 8 batters keeps PAs around normal over a full season. Obviously you'd hurt a small pool of players but over time I think it'd correct itself. DH has been around forever for me, it's something young players know they could fall back on. What happens over a decade when 8-10yr olds grow up in a sport where providing defense skills matter as much as offense skills, or else there's no place for you in MLB.
  10. LaStella represented a tough out. Something last year's team seemed to lack. He would actually give you good ABs. That's the appeal. JBJ imo is an equal signing with higher upside. I really like this signing 12 hours later. No second thoughts. I'm coming around on 4 starters as OFs. Theres been plenty of missed games that #4 gets his fair share of game action. 300PAs seem easy to get. In JBJ, he's not only LH to Cain's RH, he plays a GG quality defense. Obviously CFs can play a quality corner OF, vs corner OFs playing a quality CF. Huge depth insurance with little to no dropoff in expected offense potential. If I was a random generator of Wins this season I think the low may have been 69/70 and today its 75/76. The high may have moved from 91/92 to 94/95. Floor improved 6games.
  11. Without a doubt and seeing the ST lineup today, Counsell should have a veru consistent and easy lineup card to fill out. Wong Cain Yelich Hiura Shaw/JBJ Arcia/Urias/Narvaez Shaw/JBJ Narvaez/Arcia/Urias No Cain move up Hiura to 2 Garcia/Narvaez 4 Shaw/JBJ 5 If Narvaez 4-Garcia 6 Garcia 4- Arcia/Urias/Narvaez 6 Shaw/JBJ 7 Whomever left. No Wong begins Cain, Yelich on down. Not sure when Yelich is out. Cain-Wong-Hiura-Shaw/JBJ? Vs RHP do you load Wong, JBJ, Yelich, Hiura? LH RP replace Cain or Garcia for JBJ. I think the offense will improve quite a bit by JBJ's signing. Really toughens the lineup vs starters both ways.
  12. The overlay on MP looks like 5-6 doubles that result in HRs. Possibly 2 outs become doubles. That outfield in Boston if I recall the fence is basically player height so easy to "rob" a HR. But at same time in MP it may just bounce of wall or still be caught. You now have 2 LHB and 2 RHB to start consistently vs the opposing day's pitcher. And any nicked up injury for one OF youve still got all positions covered no concerns defensively. No Garcia/Yelich in CF. Bradley has improved vs. RHP last 2 seasons. And he does better vs LH SPs than his overall splits show vs LHP. Like JBJ vs Garcia a lot. Boston typically batted 6-9. Edit add. Espn milw radio top 8 at 8 was highest year contracts in franchise history. JBJ is now tied for 7th. Cain is on it. So is Yelich. So Brewers now have 3 players on team that rank in top 7 single year contracts in Franchise history.
  13. The team is better after this signing. Well done. Garcia/JBJ are a better 4th OF option than Taylor. Speaking of option. Mentioned 12mil option for 2nd year equals Garcia's option. JBJ's is an opt out but now you've got an easier decision depending on dates needing to declare each. The timing on deal is close after the final decision on DH. Vogelbach has to be gone as a result. That or a trade is happening....today?

  16. Lets hope Arcia continues his trend on bat improvements aside from his 2019. Ezit velocity and launch angle maybe its time for his breakout. Higher EV and launch means more line drives and less grounders to SS/3b. Maybe even crank a few more HRs on a tiny improvement with both. But it'd be telling if after 60days the numbers regressed to part ways. They must be seeing something to want to continue starting him. What's weird is Shaw would be the better platoon side for 3b.

  18. No it's not that Im not high on Gore. I don't like the idea to trade Hader plus for him. His innings limitations is a cause for concern unless you kept him in the minors this season and the next. But would anyone be confident Milw would do so? So concern is wasting team control a year even 2 and prematurely playing him at MLB level. Now you leave yourself with 4years of control to basically prune him for large markets to sign away. A TJ injury is a very good threat from a HS drafted SP building up his innings. Hader helps this team for 3 seasons now and Gore I don't see doing so until after 3 seasons pass. When I say that I mean pitching meaningful Sept and Playoff innings. Sorta feels like trading up in the 1st rd to select your next QB.
  19. Giveup the ML player and your team's top10 prospect for a team's #1 prospect seems like a good way to lose trades. Gore is still a prospect and his professional career is max of 101 IP in a season. So heres a guy that is 3years healthy to reach a SPs 30+ games start in a season. Maybe 4 to reach Playoff games starts. 1 TJ injury will wreck potentially the Brewers from getting more than 1 full season of starts. If that happens this year or early next, Gore stands to become a bullpen pitcher. That would be an utmost fail on a Hader trade and you included a top 10 prospect in your system. You have to want a better chance on a headliner deal with 2 potential "Smalls" included in the deal. The Mitchell comment was meant to a different post I didn't quote. Post by Oxy about short window with current core of players.
  20. No. Mitchell yesterday had an EV I believe was 109MPH on his hit. That is astounding and this kid will rise up the minors quickly doing that. So point on window closing needs to recognize Turang and Mitchell are possible to likely 2022 additions to the lineup. Gore is a rising top 10prospect. He's going to be untouchable for likely all but maybe a list of 10-15players. Hader isn't one of them. Campusano may perfectly fit the headline to a Hader deal. Except milw is loaded at catcher and traded for what should be a decent one last year.
  21. Ok looks like Diaz was #86 at time of trade. I remember he had 1 year in it then completely bottomed out the next. Thought that had happened already time of trade but was after it. Harrison may have been in 70s but not MLB's. I'll stick with the consensus 120s-160s. I think the list I gave fits comparable. Tucupita Marcano is mid inf that ranks higher than Ruiz but he's nowhere near the HR power that Diaz brought while Ruiz is closer.
  22. CJ Abrams from SD would likely fit best headline. I just don't know SS is where the team wants to go. Plus distance to Majors may be to far. There likely wouldn't be much certainty thrown along after Abrams. 2 prospects between top 10-30 in SD's prospect list. Abrams has 150abs to his career. All but 8 at Rookie ball. A 6th selection in 2019. He could be every bit worth that ranking he has today, or he may just be inflated to a draft selection, plus his rookie ball stats on small 32game sample.
  23. Precisely. If the Brewers were offered the current day equivalent of Brinson, Harrison, Diaz and Yamamoto for Hader, Hader would be on the next flight out of Milwaukee. For fun, what would the equivalent of that actually be from SD? Have to be something like Luis Campusano, Robert Hassell, Ryan Weathers, and a lottery ticket? On paper that is better than what Milw gave up. Only Brinson was a top 100 prospect. Diaz had touched top 100 briefly but not at time of that trade. Harrison has almost always been that 125-160 prospect while in Milw. Yamamoto was the throw in. CJ Abrams is likely Brinson. And then you start plucking names once youre below Weathers. Esteury Ruiz fits Diaz. Jorge Ona as a slight below Harrison. We'll say Efrain Contreras as Yamamoto had he had 2020 to pitch in minors.
  24. I think by signing Anderson, Odorizzi isn't on the Brewers radar. Lindblom, Houser, Peralta, and Lauer 4 SPs for last 2.5 spots.
  25. Let's go Taylor Lock. McKinney/Fisher winner 5th OF. The fact that Taylor has an option may be useful next season and he just sticks on the squad all year.
