  1. With all the Closings, Cancellations, travel bans, etc, the World economy has to only continue down. I seen a post on my Facebook that early indications from recovered are dealing with20-30% lung damage, and that if you smoke or Vape it is worse. Think I read what we are seeing is called a Dead-Cats bounce. I don't see any way how the Markets can be any higher with all this stoppage over the next 30days. Market has to be lower than it stands now 30 days from now. Just wish we didn't have the insta down/ups or overnights, vs a long slow gradual decline. Losing 10% in one day is just brutal, and many of the stocks are I watch were actually down 15-20% yesterday. 1% here 1.5% there, gradual vs this overnight 5-6.5% start to the day.
  2. Man thats a good question. Considering we eere starting right out of the gates vs Chi. I'd vote they would move around in division games for games not in the division where schedules fit. For Example Mil/Chi both during a 3game series face opponents outside the Division that also happen to coincide with those two or 4, 6, etc. Teams being able to play a 3game series they missed vs a division Opponent. I guess one outlet would be interleague games, though theyve more spread those games vs like a 7day week of all interleague games played. Point being, say 2 teams miss 7games vs each other while other teams in division play all but 3missed? End of season The 2 teams are within 3games of each other while 1 team that played a full slate vs both, is 1game behind? I'd think you could maneuver a number of games. In this way. Theres another idea on Double Headers I have. Where the games are reduced to 7innings and ties are given, no extra innings that day. If when the season ends the ties matter due to playoffs, MLB has the two teams finish out the game?
  3. Love it. Bullpen is that much stronger....or? Starting rotation is that much stronger
  4. Can't rewind his clock if he's on the DL. No Bueno. totally irrelevant. Fans worry more about arby clocks than teams to. Teams want production I'd believe that if CC hadnt said Peralta and Lauer are battling for the #5 and guaranteed spots to Houser, Lindblom.....and Anderson. After Freddy's contract his service clock matters 0. Woodruff will be a Super 2. Lauer will be a Super 2 if he is on the roster 130days? Roughly. Hader is a Super 2. That will add up 2years from now. Hader#3 Woodruff#2 Lauer#2 Houser#1. So just saying, it would help their payroll quite a bit to option him for 9starts.
  5. Can't rewind his clock if he's on the DL. No Bueno.
  6. Hey got what I hoped for, but now methinks DJ is headed for much bigger drop. I did put back some bonds in to stock funds today because I told myself I would below 24.5k. What a dip!
  7. Looks like this year is 1.725. Buyout 1.5mil if not picking up the first option. Maybe that applies to both option years if Crew picked up first but then didnt want to the 2nd?
  8. 1. That's right, but so many don't make a full season healthy. I think the team will know how to manage as July trade deadline passes. 2. Borderline would be Miller this season. Burnes as well. Peralta and Lauer. Now have 2 seasons with Games started experience. Atm, Peralta could fit your Option borderline with Lauer beating him currently for #5. Vice versa if you went the other way. I think I mentioned Lauer is on pace to be a Super 2. Rewind that clock about 50days should remove that classification. It truly is likely what is about happen after Peralta's contract. Service time doesnt matter anymore with him. And you can site his SP history to why you sent him to AAA to stay stretched out over a move to Bullpen role.
  9. There have been many, MANY stories over the years of guys working on specific pitches through spring training and not caring about results one bit. I can't remember if it was Ben Sheets or not .. but I distinctly remember one of our pitchers years and years ago getting shelled for 2 innings and they asked him after the game how he felt and his response was something like "really, really good. very happy with where I'm at" and the reporter basically said "umm, you got blasted today" .. and his response was "right, but I only threw fastballs on the inside edge today. Was working the black and inside of it." The guy just worked his command on one specific pitch and one specific location for the entire 30 or 35 pitches he threw that day. Basically, spring training often means very little results wise for guys who have roster spots secured. They are just getting into game shape and want to be ready when it matters. Anderson's stats don't mean anything until they do. I remember what you're talking about, which is the entire reason I mentioned what is Anderson working on this spring as his excuse? We've already been given stories on Lauer and Burnes learning from the Brewers "Lab" and the story on Peralta learning a new pitch in Fall. But alas, after searching him on google, it appears the excuse he could use is that he was recovering from the flu and wasn't 100%? My pick to have Lauer and Peralta make the rotation isn't just Anderson results, but due to their results. Lauer sits at 1BB:9K in 5.1IP Peralta has only given up 3 hits in 7.2IP with 4bb:7K. Burnes hasn't allowed a run in 6IP with 3hits 2BB:7K Those 3 would have under 1Whip, while Anderson at 5.2IP 7h 2BB:4K stands closer to 2 than 1. Still some time to go, just hate to see the younger guys who have been Starters for Milw or last 2 season for SD in Lauer, have camp winning statistics and see an old vet get 1 of their rotation spots just because he's a vet, albeit one with a 4.05 career ERA and 3.91Fip. I dunno, start Anderson in the BP and Lauer in the rotation. Take upside or ceiling over floor is all I'm getting at. If Lauer improved due to the Brewers Lab, just imagine what he might pitch to, with him being a 3.77 career ERA away from Coors. 1bb:9ks, is a great start when learning something new.
  10. Well fwiw Lunardi's bracketology has Wisconsin a 4.
  11. Can the Brewers just waive Anderson? After today, he has the wprst ERA out of the ST Rotation battle. 4mil isnt large enough for me to keep around blocking the more deserved winners in camp, being Lauer and Peralta. I hope CC and Stearns recognizes putting the best staff out there. Anderson a complete vet has nothing he's working on to blame. Peralta and Lauer did&do and have seen outstanding results to not be awarded a Rotation spot.
  12. How could you be co-Champion of Big Ten with the winning streak and be put on the 5 or 6 line? Committee is looking at recent W/L so the Badgers will be on the high side for that. 4 seed just seems right and a 3seed should they win the B10 tourney. 5 seed with their wins of late I think committee generally sets up for the 12 beating. WI doesnt fit that. 4seed suits them.
  13. By people you refer to me. I lead off with Anderson because from the tone, we'll be lucky to get 20Starts from him. Anderson isnt a ToR arm. When he was signed, Lindblom, Peralta, Burnes werent pushing Anderson for Starts. Now arguably they are. His loss wouldnt likely affect the team. Getting something with control has to be viewed a win. Lindblom became next since he's 3yr control, older and complete unknown what he'll give for a season. Lauer the 4yrs controlled guy[not 5?) Has been strictly a SP. I mentioned Id expect more in return for him. Any trade to the Yankees should come out on the winning side. They have the need. Just from that prospective, it warrants consideration. The player Medina I called for sounds like a future Kneble out of the bullpen. If were looking 2yrs from now, Kneble will likely be gone. So in steps in this kid.
  14. Cashner is a RP moving forward. I think the Yankees are in need of a SP for more than just a few weeks. Looks to me they are in to Luxury tax threshold maybe even beyond grade. 1. Anderson 4mil Lindblom 3+mil Lauer Pre-Arb Prices that wouldnt be crazy. Maybe keep them from grade 3 luxury? If they arent there now. I didnt delve in deep in to their prospects for what value one might put on Anderson or Lindblom #10 seemed at least promising to intrigue Stearns to make a trade before season began.
  15. Seen on MLBTR the yankees are searching for SP options. Seeing the potential log jam here I wonder on maybe a Brett Anderson or Lindblom to offer up. Ask for #10 rank Luis Medina in return. I think I was told theres a trading restriction on signed players though? Like a certain amount of time had to pass? If so then do you offer up Lauer? I'd look for a higher or more in return then. Whoops sorry I thought I was in Rumors. Can this be moved there?
  16. Teams aren't overly excited about guys who pitch 4.0 ball. TB has front of the rotation guys falling from the sky. MKE has 3-5 upside guys by most accounts. The Davies deal didn't net us multiple prospects. It net us Lauer, who we apparently don't want to start despite him having 2 years of service in the MLB already. Anderson netted very little. Didn't sell Chacin. Even if you do that with Lindblom after a good 1st year stateside. Woodruff Peralta Lauer Burnes Houser or File Supak Francis Bettinger Small in 2020. Houser isn't the best option now, and even if MKE flips Lindblom and only uses in house guys he's not even a top 5 option in 2021. in this. Locked in for 3years. you want the Rays model. Down went Nelson, pretty much the first Farm grown pitcher Stearns could have worked the Rays model after. That model essentially starts now with Woodruff who has 5years of service time remaining. Typical Rays model is to sell their guy during the last year of team control, or had they extended one of their pitchers to a cheap team friendly deal, a little earlier. How does Tampa continually reload the franchise with SPs that net them valuable prospects? Look at their transaction log regarding trades. 2019: Traded a CF prospect, Mallex Smith for a2018 4th rd SP prospect, 4th type of OF, and failed ML C. Traded cash, 22yr 1b Jake Bauers for a 1b/3b prospect, and a 29yr old 1st year RP Traded at the time, 3RPS atop the minors, for 2yr veteran RP Emilio Pagan, a comp pick, and 11th rd 2017 SP prospect lottery ticket. Traded 1yr ML RP for 20th Rd 2018 pick SP lottery ticket. Traded journeyman Wilmer Font for an 18yr old Pitching Prospect. Traded Released FA RP Casey Sadler for 17th round 2017 RP prospect Traded a Utility Inf prospect for a 9th rd 2015 RP with ML experience. Utility Inf actually has top 100 pre 2020 rank. Traded top 100 OF prospect, Ryne Stanek, for 28yr RP, and SP Trevor Richards. 2018: Traded RP Brad Boxberger for 4th rd 2016 RP. Traded Evan Longoria for 4th rd 2016 SP/RP, 8th rd 2016 SP plus ML fillers. Traded Odorizzi for a 20yr Inf Utility lottery ticket Traded Steven Souza for ML RP, 8th Rd 2014 SP, 14th rd 2016 RP, utility inf traded in 2019 above Traded Alex Colome (3yrs remaining control) Denard Span, for 15th rd 2017 SP lotto ticket, and a SP that wound up released. Oof lost a trade. Traded minors RP for Wilmer Font who was traded in 2019. Traded Matt Andriese with 5yrs control, for 6th rd 2017 SP lotto ticket, and ML Catcher Traded 1/2 season Nathan Eovaldi for Jalen Beeks a longman RP The Biggest one Chris Archer with 3 more seasons cheap control, for Stud Tyler Glasnow, Austin Meadows, and 1st rd 2017 SP lotto ticket. Traded Adeiny Hechavarria for RP Prospect And that's a heckuva laundry list for just 2 years. But it's not just the SPs garnering minors relevancy, they have hyper actively traded and acquired so many forms of pitching to reload with. But also, in regards to trading Pitching to reload, Milw hasn't fully been able to do that until Davies/Grisham netted us Lauer/Urias. They both just happened to be graduated ML experienced. Urias just happens to be about 70days graduated from being a #25-35 prospect likely top 15 today if hadn't graduated. Kneble/Hader on likely you're next ML pitchers that are traded for valuable prospects. Maybe Anderson or Lindblom seeing as they might not fit the roster this season or come next offseason in Lindblom's case. Lauer too could be that before this time next season.
  17. The top two needs imo is a Milb and a WR. OL, QB?, S. Double up on WR and Milb. Re:Baun Is he any different than Martinez? Any faster?
  18. Can we consider that the Brewers SPs last season averaged under 5IP for the season? And now may have numerous guys that get through in to the 6th IP range? Anderson 5.2IP avg per start last season in the AL Woodruff almost 5.2IP Houser's role will result in more promise than a 4.2IP SP because he won't be starting games after being in the bullpen. Peralta's career is just below 5IP a start, with the knowledge adding a new pitch to help him. Lauer is at a 5IP career avg away from Coors and enduring inning limitations that won't be in place this year. All told, I'm thinking as a team the SPs can go a full IP longer avg per start. 3 outs less a game for the bullpen to have to cover. The future depth is coming. Seems asinine to worry about currently. I'd worry about it after the trade deadline or when Hader went down with a significant injury. But right now, whole lotta upside. STL won the division last season having a bullpen ERA of 3.88. The Washington Nationals won the WS with a bullpen ERA of 5.68. Houston Astros came in at 3.75ERA from bullpen. Just amazes me how some posters nitpick worry after worry because they aren't playing a 25man squad of All Stars. Oh no no Grandal. Oh no, no Shaw or Aguilar/Thames at 1b....wait that's a good thing. The loss to me is just 3b to worry on. Oh no who is gone from 2019 in RPs? Pomeranz and Guerra? Meet Suter and Kneble. Somebody that loses the SP battle will go in to the bullpen. Down the road it's Rasmussen. Down the road it's trade deadline additions, or other minor league additions with upside. Further down the playoff road it will SP #4 or 5 pitching from the bullpen vs Starting. Relax.
  19. He's under team control for 4 seasons. Can't we just enjoy him rather than worrying about what we will do with him in 2 seasons. I know there was rumors of moving him this offseason' date=' but pretty sure ownership is all in the next few seasons by signing Yeli. Would be dumb to dump the best closer in the NL the last 2 seasons. Not if we could get a haul for him. Our minor league system is the WORST baseball. Our market size does not continue to compete with that kind of a business model. The drafter better pick it up or its time to move on or a strategy switch.[/quote] Yes our minor league system is rated the lowest in baseball. We traded away multiple 1st rd or 2nd picks, Graduated multiple in the last few years. We lost 2? draft picks signing Cain/Grandal. Traded 2 now. Had higher drafted SPs struggle with injuries ever taking off. Meanwhile, have what looks like a handful of guys on the radar that could jump the ranking that is all of 1/2 a season old being the worst after Hiura no longer qualified. Playoffs b2b seasons=better than having a top 15 ranked minor league system. At some point the losses due to upper draft choices will flip to later draft choices that aren't highly thought of. You will also see the International prospects start to rise because the new system favors Milwaukee vs the one not long ago where top Markets were outspending the Marlins payroll acquiring 16-20yr olds. You also gotta admit, Stearns has dealt his share of draft picks to help the ML team at what seems to be high in value vs results they've given the team they traded with. We're in a very good place aside from 1b/3b, that Stearns may have filled 3b in Urias beyond this season for 5more years. Look at it this way, with team control they have Hiura, Urias, Narvaez, Yelich, all top 100 types, Woodruff, Burnes, Hader, Peralta all top 100 types, Houser not far behind, maybe Lauer even. It's a great start to fill in with where the system sits near graduating depth. I think if Arcia goes down the drain, Turang is rushed up with Urias for 3b(next season again after Super 2) Rasmussen will join the team in the near future someone that misses a top 100 type ranking because he graduated. It's nowhere near dire like it was the last time it was bouncing from worst in MLB. Some point, a Hader trade will happen, but now? He's more valuable for the make up of the 2020 team.
  20. Another 1000÷pt gain. Ouch.
  21. I just don't buy in to that. He's literally better now that a Daniel Murphy who emerged as #2 in Mvp his age 31 season. Or let's take Justin Turner who broke out his age 29 season to an .897OPS. Climbed as high as .945OPS and 8th in MVP at age 32. Age 34 put up an .881OPS and a 3.7BWAR. What's Yeli got produce to equal the value of his yearly contract? 4.5WAR? He's doing better that those two breakouts at a later age and with the Turner Example, can maintain 4WAR fairly easily in to his age 34season, tbd age 35season. That takes us to 2026. Nelson Cruz just put up 4.3BWAR age 38. Defying age regression since his first MVP vote getting age 33 year. Encarnacion is still doing it at age 37. Beltre did it consistently til his age 38season. And the thing of all this is, Yelich is coming from a higher OPS than any of these guys put up in a season. Ride this wave without being concerned 5-9 years from now. Brewers win a WS now in any of these 9 seasons with Yelich on the team are we going to refer the extension as too risky? Think of it this way, the best years may still be to come.
  22. Re: Braun. I wonder how his value gets perceived with 1b defense. I imagine over a longer sample. And he seems historically to hold a positive RF. Maybe he tosses a 2÷WAR season. He's also gotta think he's playing a contract year. So maybe he posts a 3WAR type year. I do wonder with him batting leadoff ahead of Yelich/Hiura. He still can steal his share of bases and OB is legit enough to fit the role. Isnt this season essentially motivating to be a little more than he's been? Writing this gives me high feelings on a great season for Braun.
  23. I think the 2020 payroll is a direct result of money-saving to eventually try and extend Yelich. I won't be surprised if we see some of this again in 2021 as well. Trading Yelich would be bad for Milwaukee baseball business, even if it may be the best thing for Milwaukee Brewer roster construction. I am Mark Attanasio. Nice call. I figured an extension was not in the cards. I also was not aware that Yelich loves Milwaukee so much. I wonder on the team letting him participate at the NBA dunk contest had any help. The Bucks in general. Really though he probably loves Milw so much after the experience at Miami with empty stadiums, and I believe somewhat empty stadiums within the division. I wonder how many tickets were sold around LF after the announcement he was going to play there vs RF by CC? Just a really cool time to play for a WI sports team.
  24. I don't honestly think this will be a big deal in the regular season. He will come in to face a lefty or two where he can get to the end of an inning. To me it will become a bigger deal in September and especially in the playoffs where managers seem to try to work match ups a lot more than they do in the regular season. Claudio if youre worried about him for the playoffs, can just be left off the playoff roster if they are worried about him. I think the bullpen will be stronger and guys like Burnes/Lauer if not in the rotation then would be used in the bullpen instead. When it comes to Shelby Miller, I'd imagine he has an opt out date not long after the season began. If not by the time the season began. I wouldnt count him as a rotation depth unless he somehow made the OD as starter.
  25. And so the market climbs 1200+pts today. Well ask and I shall not receive.
