Simulated 2020 Baseball Season (JosephC)
brewcrewdue80 replied to JosephC's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I third that opinion. Im not a big fan where Suter is the Game 2 starter in one simulation as he was clearly going to be in bullpen. The one above having Williams pitching 9th innings? No kneble, Phelps, Hader? There was another playing David Freitas at C. Another no way does he start at catcher before Narvaez or Pina first series vs the Cubs. Can you guys play GM and set up the roles like bullpen? The Suter start had Williams come in after him. The other two games had Williams finishing both. That Freitas game he played batted below Sogard. Bad platoon as Narvaez should be batting lefty vs RH Hendriks. And ahead of Sogard. Combined those two 10LOB. Lastly. Yelich batting cleanup? He has 0PAs as a Brewer batting cleanup. 2yrs. Not 1. Should have a setting he bats either 2nd or 3rd in daily lineups. -
Decided to play a small buyin, but large reward poker tourney that started at 2pm. Played nearly 3 and 1/2hours before being knocked out. In that time my best hand was maybe the 2nd hand from beginning at 55 with 3 raised bets before I even was to act. Of course I folded, and correctly so, I'd have lost twice over and been for tourney in 2nd hand. Never had an Ace Suited. KQ suited was the bested suited start hand. K10 after. 2 AK off suit hands(I won with both) Next best Ace was with an 8OS. I can honestly say, I've never played an online tourney that long with such poor hands dealt. Oh and my last hand in BB was pkt 4s and I moved allin on the SB because they were the only in the hand and he just called. A3 run out to an Ace river. Brutal

Yes! Turn all day games into double headers. Start every currently scheduled day game 1 hour earlier, shorten it to 7 innings, then immediately play another 7 inning game right after it. Love it. I think they will need rules to keep extra innings short. Start extra innings with the bases loaded or something exciting like that. I suggested a 7 inning Double Header day some time back. In it I suggested ties happening for the standings and just being a 14inning day with 2games. Get this done for division opponents to get as close to a predetermined amount of in division games played.(usually 19 full season) So maybe 10 or 11 on shortened season. Most day games are getaway games, so ideally you're not having teams traveling potentially extremely late to next series due to extra innings. Make it fun and have tied games just have a HR derby faceoff between a teams designated HR hitter for it. Yelich Milw vs Bryant Chi as an example. 10outs highest wins the game. Like a shootout for Hockey orSoccer.

The above posts, I just seen the MLBTR article on it. Pro-rated is our best hopes at the moment. If we get no season, everyone has their 2019 service time results for 2020. Double whammy on Hader's 1day Super 2 status. Trying to see this in the Brewers perspective, no matter what its all bad for their important players via pre Arb. I guess you would look at the pre Arb service time important players as Woodruff, Lauer, Burnes, Houser, Urias, and Hiura. No season would add a full yr to Woodruff, Lauer. 120days for Urias, 114days for Hiura. Close to full season for Houser. Seems played since game 24 last season Ill just say 157days. Burnes service time last year seems only short 37days of a full year so 135days. Its all nasically adding a year, small rewind. If the season has any games played, if on the active roster or IL for the games played, its a full 172days added to their service time. Now where it gets interesting is if the player serves time not on active roster. The example was a 100day season and the player was only active for 50. That would mean half of a season being added to service time. Burnes you could feasibly rewind his clock gaining a year control, but make him a Super 2. Urias maybe sits down long enough and Super 2 worries are completely removed. If you sent Lauer down long enough he could avoid Super 2 future.(40-50% of days) which seems extreme and unlikely. So all in all the Brewers likely lose a full year and gain nothing out of the shortened or lost season. It will actually be quite a loss on shuttling pitchers if they have no service time on a shortened season. Say a Drew Rasmussen was only up for last 10days of 100day season he'd actually be credited with 17 or 18.

Is the comment about his hands related to his targeted completion percentage? Whether yes or no, I do wonder if he'll be viewed as a better pass catcher when he has a HOF QB throwing to him rather than Cam Newton and his career 59% completion percentage.... I searched him up there was an article about him for when he signed with the Colts before last season that he had 23drops in his playing time. Played 1 game last year 5 targets 3 catches 1 drop. I did and do think the same that Newton has to be a part of completion rate to targets But drops are there. Had 5 in a game vs Detroit and that may have ended his 2018 season, not a full on injury, as the story goes on to say he was demoted multiple spots on the depth chart after that game. The article does suggest he is better in the red zone. 6'4" just thinking he's better than MVS and Allison when it comes to defensive matchups. Maybe free up Adams just a little. Or free up Lazard, and hoping Sternberger gets more targeted chances. I'm good with the deal because he's young, was a 2nd rd pick and has had success moreso than the Packers WR corps not named Adams. Just sounds like a nice threat from 7-13yards downfield and that often will move the chains when caught. And him being a former TE in HS and Michigan the run blocking or WR screen blocking with his advantage on any CB/Safety that lines up opposite him, I am going to dream on. We lost Vitale so there's that hole to pick up. I have good feelings on Lazard/Sternberger/ and Lewis is on the field on blocking and in Jace or Lazard taking Vitale's former run blocking scheme role while in motion. You nab 1 WR in the early rounds and you've removed Allison/MVS from their poor WR roles.

Watched an interesting Youtube video where the gentleman discussed the findings breaking it down between Italy and China. Unfortunately, I cant find my history the link where I watched the video.(about 5hours ago) What I can remember. Death rate was 0pct and 0.2pct for 0-18yr old. 0 and 0.2pct for 18-30yr old. This is Italy and China. 0.4 and 0.5pct 30-40yr old. 1.0 and 1.4pct for 40-50yr old Then the numbers increased I dont remember those offhand. China didnt keep track above 70. But a fair estimate was like 3.9pct jump to 12.5pct and Italy above 70 like 27.7pct. All told it came to something like 5.5-5.7pct death rate via the virus data up to approx 14days ago. The data was based on 14days prior because the effects of the virus seem to take hold day 10-14 upon infected where the deaths begin happening. Said the rate actually worsens exceeding 14days going back. But then your going back where cases are smaller and smaller. It was around 74pct of all Italy cases 60 and above. About 71pct of the cases at 14days were mild to Asymptomatic. Something the gentleman said was a concern because initially this was thought of being above 80pct. (Do wanna tie the older age being something to consider) Pretty much what I got out of it was 50 and younger, covid19 isn't a concern for your health. 51-60 becomes the avg stage to be concerned. The older you get above 60 your life is drastically in danger upon getting the virus. Found the video. I must have seen this on Facebook feed to why wasn't in my history.

That will probably move to 2nd round mock with Brady gone. If they have a 2nd rd pick. QB will definitely be mocked to NE wherever it may fit the Mocks.
-
You think having Cam Newton throwing balls has anything to do with it? I would. Fungess' 840 yard season Newton had a worse completion pct than Funchess did when targeted. Eh, reading more he does have a drop problem. Still no doubt, hes better than MVS. As to the IR, last season for the Colts, and last game of the other season. So that's misleading. He had a 13mil contract for Indy last season. Im sure the Packers see a discount with upside opportunity here.

840yds receiving in 2017. 2nd rd pick. 6'4" and young. That is addressing the WR corps. You gotta like this. Even more so if he becomes the 2 and moves Lazard to slot. Though deep threat may not be Funchess considering the career longs. If he has blocking skills though, that would be huge ling up Jace, Lazard on one side of the field with him. Dug in to draft preview on him. He was a TE moved to WR. Can be a matchup nightmare, wins hand battles, good intermediate threat. Has drop issues. Perfect. He will be a blocking WR. A threat for 10-15yds downfield to open the shallow routes, or catch 1st downs.

Milwaukee announced 56 or was it 53 new cases yesterday. Time to lockdown WI. Done. Effective tomorrow per the governors twitter account. Details to follow later apparently. And great. Milwaukee becomes the California for the counties in the state. I live in Sheboygan, at the moment there have been 6 cases and to our north is Manitowoc with 0 cases still. The orders need to be given on quarantine counties as needed not the entire state. Businesses being halted that have very low risk at this time to spread infection. It's scary to go to Walmart up here with them closing at 830pm now vs 24hours and opening at 7am. I walked in at 7am and grocery shelves were still at least 30% empty. (is it Trucks? keeping them from restocking? Supply/Demand?) I managed to get the last package of hamburger meat over the size of 1lb. Life in Sheboygan because of 6 cases. None new for 3? maybe 4Days?

How are you spending your lockdown time?

I have Xbox and Game Pass. Forza Horizon 4 must have recently come to the game pass and I've probably put in 24hours of gameplay in a matter of 3days. Loads upon loads of objectives to complete. Time goes by quickly while playing. I had recently joined a Planet Fitness and after 5 days, it's now closed. There went that idea. Probably get some things done around the house(Spring Cleaning) Maybe dust off some old poker books read and play some online poker(gotta share that Xbox/TV with my 3weeks at home daughter) Oh watched Rob Roy last night. Man I remember the final sword scene being more gruesome than what that final blow turned in to being. Liam Neeson kicking butt ongoing 30years now. I have Tubi and browsed through some movie selections, Jackie Chan titles from late 70s and early 80s. May just watch a few of those as he looks like prime age for martial arts skills. Crazy to think he's been out there that long if these are American dialect but I'm guessing dubbed English. -
Chris Sale to undergo Tommy John surgery

Nolan Ryan: 284 innings, 326 innings, 332 innings, 198 innings, 284 innings, 299 innings, 234 innings, 222 innings, 233 innings Tom Seaver: 251 innings, 278 innings, 273 innings, 290 innings, 286 innings, 262 innings, 290 innings, 236 innings, 280 innings I remember the days when pitching coaches actually taught sound mechanics and didn't just focus on opposing hitters and pitch sequencing. Now the attitude seems to be, "good, this guy has a funky delivery that may mess up some hitters...I don't care if he blows his arm out four years from now because by then he'll probably be pitching for someone else." A Better comp to a Sale could be Randy Johnson. 14seasons above 200+IP 1st one at age 26. 271 and 260 ages. 35 and 38. 7 of 8seasons around that time. Hard thrower, funky delivery, Lefty. Poster child for the Sale&Haders that exist today. -

This is the reason to not extend these large contracts to pitchers and why a team must grow their pitching from their minors. 30+mil down the drain, 31 becomes 32 another year away from prime. Tampa's front office has this idea down so much. Position players via FA, how often do they get a full 1year injury before a season even starts? -
You Named it! That is the pizza place I was thinking of growing up. For back then extremely large pizzas and weren't the pizzas cut in smaller squares? Is Hup's still around?
-
I hate the Italy comparisons because Italy at a whole is like 70% the size of California while their population is something like 166% more than California. You're also dealing with a much older population susceptible to the virus. No models of what is occuring there should apply here.

Looking at a website that tracks from when China declared on Jan 22nd 571 cases. From that point Active cases rose for them until Feb 17th at a peak of 58,016. Currently sit at 9,893. If you go by the same 500+ active cases that became true for the US on March 8th. A full week gone by it's reached 3,553. China a full week later had 7,414 active cases. We sit at less than half from where they stood on the same timeline. We're about 3weeks away from a peak of active cases on the same timeline. Considering the actions having been put in place, and the lower # of active cases, we just may peak in 2weeks and see active cases at that time reduce. Also, FWIW, China according to this website has had 87.37% recovery already. The US according to the website has only 10 serious cases at the moment. Not even 1% of the current active cases. Food for thought, but I believe this is going to end quicker than the feartrain'd media is predicting. The lack of serious cases will bring back a reality the virus isn't something to fear as much as it's being portrayed.

That seems like the prudent thing to do...I don't understand how we can shut down, but still have teachers gathering. Knowing my district, they will have us in some kind of in-service, all in the same space... Grrrr. Come on, how many teachers are you dealing with? What are your teachers district travel excursions? Are you fearful that fellow Teachers will be carriers in to your workplace of the covid virus? Now if you're over the age of 60 then I understand. Pretty much the ages over 60 need to basically live life like they're in bubble wrap right now. If there are some 60+ among the group you're working with I'd probably exclaim to who's in charge, those individuals need to requested to stay home and work from home. Just overall, the restrictions and guidelines I believe need to be geared towards the over 60 crowd. Generally speaking below that, you're going to get through this just fine. Recovered in 2 weeks.
-
Pretty amazing to see the list, and being in Sheboygan find out a confirmed three cases now here. Yet no announcement.
-
I only worked on 4weeks of schedule and found a few matchups to reverse. Im not being paid to solve the scheduling for 30teams for 140+games each to divulge. So what if the Cubs avoid the Nationals and most NL Central teams end up facing them? The goal in mind is to reach 19games faced vs each division rival. Totaling 72games. Maybe under your concern MLB just ditches the normal playoffs and takes the top Division winners and play a Round robin among the 3 to come away with a WS matchup. Removing the WC/Division series to complete more reg season games.
-
So I'm briefly/quickly going over some of the schedules just to give an example on the switching idea say the League only suspends 2 weeks. In Week 1 the Brewers face the Cubs 3 games and similarly the Nationals face the Mets 3 games. Week 4 would end with the Brewers at the Mets 3 games while the Cubs hosted the Nationals 4 games. Right there you could slide the Brewers to face the Cubs and Mets to host the Nationals. (sure the Cubs are hosting vs on the road, but that can be addressed I'm sure. As same with Nationals having road games while they should have been home games) But simply in 2weeks' worth of time I found a switch that could work for 4 teams to get the in division games played cancelling out of division games. of the 4 teams I looked at the schedule have 2 game interleague series to end week 2. Philly vs Tor Mets vs Astros. Off Days surrounded the 2game series. For Milw it would total 11games with 8 vs Division to make up. And the following 2 weeks no added division games to make up. The NL East I checked Mets/Phillies/Nationals and the variable for them is 10-12games in division missed. It'll be some work, but gotta be considered manageable. To be honest, it's being really hopeful that the Season begins only missing 2 weeks. But also, if it did, moving around the H/A factor, how much would it matter if they played without crowds and just flipped the teams with top of inning to bottom of inning? It's 14days quarantine right now right? Sigh, just a mess because like the NBA, what happens when a Player for a team comes down with the virus when the season was started back up? Wouldn't basically that team need to be quarantined for 14 days?
