  1. Man, I would really hate to see Montgomery leave after what on paper looks like a really nice draft in 2015. Although a chance at a GM job would be tough to pass up. I to like all the rumored potential candidates being mentioned. Excited to see who it ends up being and their vision for building this club back into a contender. Although the org did a nice job in that first step with this years draft and trades.
  2. Going to have to make a few trips north to see that Timber Rattlers team play. Wow.
  3. Bryce Harper will take that award wrapped up. Three OF get Silver Slugger Awards. Harper is a lock, then it is up between McCutchen, Pollock, Braun, Upton, Gonzalez and Blackmon I would assume.
  4. Braun, maybe not the Braun of his mid to late 20's, but still a very good All-Star caliber OF. Outside shot at a Silver Slugger in the OF this year I would think.
  5. Let’s say Braun hit’s another 8 this season and gets to 260 for his career. In his next five seasons with the Brewers he would need to average 28 per season and he could get to 400. I would say he has a legit shot to get there. No guarantee, but if he stays healthy he should get there. Hopefully the thumb procedures twice per year will continue to help remedy that issue. Wish I could have been at Miller Park to see it live, I was at the game Sunday to see him tie Yount with the slam, great moments.
  6. Glad I was at Miller Park for this game. Jungmann with 9 K's, looked real sharp and to see Braun hit the grandslam to tie Yount for the franchise HR record, pretty awesome day.
  7. I like the road the Brewers are headed down. The farm system is starting to look quite good and I feel really good about what the team will look like in 2018. The trades at this deadline seem like they will be very good and I am excited to see what this new GM will do alongside Montgomery and Counsell. While 2016 and 2017 will not be contending seasons they could still be fun to start seeing some of the guys in the system that are close and get them ready to contend in 2018. Hope they make more trades this offseason to stack that young close to the majors core even more.
  8. I was at the game last night, darn shame Braun JUST missed a two HR game. Would have tied him with Yount for the all-time franchise lead at 251. Crazy thing happened before the game my friend and I were waiting in the season seat holder line outside the park to buy some advanced parking and next to us in the will-call line was none other than the great Bill James! I couldn't believe it, I introduced myself shook his hand and told him I was a fan of his work and all he has done for the game. He was pretty quiet and thanked me. I wanted to get a picture with him but didn't want to bother him like that. Wonder why he was in town and who left the ticket at will-call for him.
  9. Lohse strictly mop up guy now in pen I would assume? Only role that makes sense for him at this point.
  10. The more I read about Phillips the more I get excited that we got ourselves a left handed hitting Mike Trout "Light".
  11. I was kind of excited to get Wheeler. Dude has ace stuff, of course after TJ surgery no guarantee but seems these days most guys come back fine from it.
  12. I am fine with waiting to deal Gomez in the offseason. But if they don't trade Parra, Cotts, Broxton and Lind now, they're crazy. K-Rod should also be shopped.
  13. Great notes from Jon Heyman today on the a multiple of Brewers fronts. But some really nice, specific things on Arcia. See below. "The Brewers are willing to trade not only star center fielder Carlos Gomez but even young shortstop Jean Segura, according to one person familiar with their thinking, who suggested it's somewhat likely they move both players. Gomez's possible move is born of pragmatism, as the person mentioned how there's no way the Brewers would be able to afford to keep Gomez long-term considering Jacoby Ellsbury's $153-million deal (Gomez is a free agent after 2016). The source also suspected Segura could easily be traded due to the extraordinary rise of shortstop prospect Orlando Arcia, who is beloved by just about all of baseball, the Brewers included. In fact, Arcia may be drawing more trade interest than Segura at present (the Padres, linked to Segura, are one of many to call on Arcia). "He's the best player I saw in the minor leagues this year," one NL executive said. Another, noting that Arcia was ranked 90th on some prospect list, said he should have been ninth, "or higher." Yet another NL executive said Arcia is comparable to the much more heralded Francisco Lindor, "only better." Arcia is only 20, but the Brewers have yet another shortstop prospect in Luis Sardinas, making it logical that Segura could go somewhere. Though Segura's value isn't at its peak ("He looks a little thick," one scout said) ... The Mets, for one, don't seem to love Segura due to his free-swinging style ... In addition to Segura and Gomez, the Brewers may find new homes for Adam Lind, Gerardo Parra, Kyle Lohse, K-Rod, Jonathan Broxton, Aramis Ramirez and Neal Cotts ... K-Rod would prefer to remain in Milwaukee. "Hopefully, I can stay -- this year, and next year, too," Rodriguez said. His contract is also backloaded, which limits his trade value. K-Rod incidentally isn't surprised to have been back to being an All-Star closer after briefly falling to set-up status. "What you learned right, you never forget." ... Donny Everett, the first-round talent the Brewers took on a flyer in the 29th round, will indeed be going to Vanderbilt to pitch. He was the hardest thrower in the draft at 99 mph and sought $2.5 million or more to give up school as he is a student ... Nathan Kirby, left-handed pitcher from the University of Virginia, is expected to sign Friday with the Brewers. He was the No. 40 overall pick and a national champion with the Cavaliers."
  14. Kicking off the second half with my first game of the second half in my 20 pack. Looking forward to being at the sauna Miller Park tonight drinking an ice cold beer and getting that sweet Barrel Man shirt.
  15. Another great part of that game. Also if a pitcher was getting tired and you did a mound visit to give your pen more time to warm, the pitcher would gain stamina if it was deemed positive or lose more stamina if it was deemed a negative reaction. That game is so great. All the little things.
  16. MVP Baseball was the innovator of this. If you didn't warm a guy up he would be tired already and if you warmed him up to long he would be tired. That game is still the best baseball game ever.
  17. Nice to see Braun get an AB, triple and score a run. A short appearance but a very effective one. His shoes were quite sweet as well, the gold was a nice touch. Love how they booed Braun in the intros and then cheered when he hit the triple.
  18. Watching Nelson, Peralta and Jungmann pitch. Secure a top 5 pick in 2016 draft. Trade a few pieces for some decent minor leaguers to put in our system. Watch Braun continue to hit well. Enjoy going to Miller Park and just being at the ballpark as summer will be over soon and winter will arrive. Ugh.
  19. I am curbing my enthusiasm with Taylor. He has been really fun to watch and has looked darn good. But as others have mentioned, we have seen this with Mike Fiers before and other pitchers. Enjoying it while it lasts, and hope it does last and he is a good pitcher in our rotation for years. Would be nice to have a 1st round pitcher workout in the rotation for a change.
  20. Well deserved. This raises my interest in the game. I always watch the All-Star game and enjoy it, but with two Brewers in the game now one of which is a position player in Braun I am more pumped for the game.
  21. Nelson deserved better, really nice outing against a good lineup on the road. This season is over, so it's things like this Nelson outing that are "wins" for me.
  22. Man, Timber Rattlers could be as fun to watch/follow next season as the Shuckers are this season.
  23. Arcia's swing reminds me a lot of Hanley Ramirez. The leg lift, swing, everything.
  24. In the BP mid-season top 50 he was at #31. So the BP guys don't seem to be quite as high on Arcia as the BA guys. Either way, he is one of the best prospects in the game and that is exciting as a Brewers fan.
