  1. If this move somehow involves a trade for Greg Maddux that would be cool.
  2. That is kind of what I was thinking and Doug Russell and Mike Wickett on 1250 were talking about this a few weeks ago. When he was at Wake if he came in the 7th inning or later there record was like 70something-0. Crazy. (edit: pared back long quote --1992)
  3. I have to disagree with Powell. Branyan gives us much more then Hall probably ever will vs. RHP. And I will not rest until Branyan is up getting a start or two a week and coming off our bench as a pinch hitter. Free 3TO!
  4. Totally over my head, got it now and it is very funny.
  5. While Braun could flame out or go to Cooperstown, LaPorta probably isn't going to do either. So Braun could flame out but LaPorta can't? I mean I don't want either one of them to, but I would say Braun is either Cooperstown bound or will be a solid major leaguer for a long time and one of the all time Brewers greats at least.
  6. Sure would be nice to have Will Inman right about now....
  7. Prince Fielder's defense. Just awful.
  8. Yeah Weeks to Fielder is the scariest double play finisher I have ever seen. It isn't as automatic as it should be like say Gantner to Cooper.
  9. I'm all for Kendall catching a lot of games, but he needs at least 1 day off per week I think to keep him fresh and to keep Rivera somewhat ready if he is needed more often.
  10. If Bush goes to the pen or wherever as long as it is out of the rotation I hope they give Weaver a try. Might as well see if he has anything left because if he isn't up by June something he can sign anywhere. At this point I would say our rotation should be: Sheets Parra Suppan McClung Weaver Not what I was expecting once the season started.
  11. Oh and big props to Kapler and Dillon for coming through with RBI pinch hits.
  12. Yup, they both should be in the pen. And Bush should maybe get a chance to close.
  13. I have given though to Bush closing. He did it in college at Wake Forest and was lights out. And as we have seen as a starter he can usually pitch 3 to 4 lights out innings and then just falls apart. It might be worth a try. Right now I would give Weaver a shot in Bush's spot.
  14. Prince just seems to be making bone headed play after bone headed play at 1B as of late. I don't remember him being this bad last season or in 2006.
  15. You can't compare Yost to managers that have made it deep into the playoffs or won the World Series, or in Torre's case, won many World Series. When you take a team that far, you get a longer leash in the future. I don't understand the argument that he shouldn't be fired because he hasn't done any worse than other competent managers. He hasn't done anything in his time as manager besides take a bunch of top prospects and have one winning season with them. In my opinion, he doesn't deserve the length of leash that he's getting. Thank you jazzytrav, that is kind of what I was trying to get at.
  16. Thought Jackson pitched pretty well, had some bad luck. Offense smashed 14 hits, but only 4 runs to show. Not good. And Bush, well went typical Bush and pitched well for a few innings and then had what my friends and I refer to as "the Bush inning".
  17. Prince has to be the worst defensive 1B in all of baseball or at least the NL.
  18. You know you make a good point. I guess I dunno, but tell me would you rather have Yost as our a choice of Torre/Leyland?
  19. I think the manager has very little effect on the outcome, so it doesn't matter how many more years. Should Leyland, Girardi, Black, and Torre be fired because they aren't in first place. I have seen many posters and fans hold these managers in high regards through the years. Only one has a better record than the Brewers this year, even though they all have as much talent as the Brewers. The guys you mentioned above have been winners. Yost has not, that is why they shouldn't be fired.
  20. That may be true, but there is no reason we can't compete with Boston and win at least 1 game. Heck we could have had 2 out of 3 in that series. I could care less about projections. Boston may have more talent, but not by a huge margin.
  21. Just another reason I have pretty much no use for ESPN or ESPN.com. If it isn't Yankees, Sox or Cubs it isn't all that important in baseball according to them.
  22. John Donovan has an article up on SI.com about Yost and how we the fans love to hate him. Link
  23. He has been pitching from the wind up.
  24. I can't ever root for the Brewers to lose just so Ned can get fired. But if they do win at least 2 or 3 more games on this trip and then have a good homestand he will stick. Unless they go on another 6 game losing streak or more I doubt he gets it this season now. But hey as long as they can keep winning I can deal with Ned. It just seems if they didn't fire him on the off day Monday which seemed to be the perfect time when the heck would they actually give him the axe?
