  1. The best news of all is that we should see Fielder-Koskie-Moeller in the 9th...
  2. I didn't know Moeller was pitching. Clearly it was his pitch-calling there...
  3. The Brewers are like pro wrestlers...the guys have their roles, and they stick to the script, whether it means Moeller's GIDP or Hall's jack. Fortunately the Cubs know their role, too.
  4. On the bright side Shouse made it through the inning and the cubs had to pinch hit for Erye using their only decent bench player. Now Gross will likely get to face a righty and we can pinch hit for Shouse. Exactly the way Yost planned it...Jenkins had orders to drop the fly ball just to get Dusty to burn Murton and get Eyre out of there. But yeah, I still have hope.
  5. Maybe we'll see Neifi as a pinch hitter...
  6. Chad Moeller, on pace to make all 27 Brewer outs today in the eyes of some... No, just the really, really important ones.
  7. Yost planned this...bases loaded for the #7 hitter. Go Gabe! Um. Wait.
  8. Does anyone think Cirillo would be a good choice here?
  9. The only consolation here is that Dusty will let the kid throw 140 pitches and then bring him back on short rest...
  10. I've got a feeling. I had that once. Tinactin took care of it...
  11. Yost and Dusty made a deal...I'll play Moeller if you play Blanco. With those guys in the lineup we'll get this game done in 75 minutes.
  12. It's nice that we finally have a lefty who can come in and neutralize top-tier LH hitters like Minky and Stairs. Um.
  13. I think with Helling, it's a matter of being eight years too late rather than a few weeks early.
  14. From today's Doug Melvin chat: Melvin: We have monthly conference calls with Reid Nichols and the Minor League department. We also have plans for each individual prospect on whether it makes sense to promote them during their developmental process. In Rogers' case, we feel that he is having success in his most recent four or five starts and it is important for him to continue that at the level he is pitching. Yovani Gallardo had success over a longer period of time, the entire first half of the season, and earned the promotion to Double-A. We also have scouts that have input in these decisions, so it is an organizational decision on player movement. Sounds like Yo to AA...
  15. I think he's probably the top lefty in the NL right now. His only competition would be Glavine and Kazmir and his stats are slightly better than either of those guys. Do you mean Willis? Kazmir is in the AL thanks to the Mets. Before the season I would have listed Mulder and Willis as the top guys...obviously Mulder hasn't done what was expected, and Willis has had his ups and downs. Also, Jeff Francis looks pretty good considering his home park...and Glavine is of course helped a lot by Shea. Still, being the best lefty is kind of a trivial distinction...they don't have slots for LHP and RHP in the all-star game as they do on some all-star teams.
  16. Without having heard anything in specific, you have to assume they've discussed parameters and that Anundsen will sign. As for the guys in the teens...two would be amazing but if we get one of the five in 1e's list, I'll be happy and surprised. Looking at the draft thread, it sounds like Robinson has an offer from a 2-year school, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him take it and renegotiate with the Brewers next spring.
  17. Shooting crabs in a barrel is unsporting...but in the wild crabs are dangerous and make for a very exciting hunt. If you miss, or only wound them, they'll charge. Sideways.
  18. Just tuned in, and there's the walkoff...by the shortstop with the .602 SLG.
  19. Par for the course. Sometimes they'll convince one or two of those guys in the teens to sign right away, like Moss or Tommy Hawk. Others might be convinced to go to a two-year college as a DFE. Others won't sign...in some cases like Ray Liotta of the White Sox, they'll improve their draft standing considerably.
  20. You'd think they'd have some bonus money to play with, given that they're picking in the middle of the rounds instead of at the top, and given that I don't think they've picked a lot of big-money guys. I'd love to see them spend to bring Siedel into the fold...remains to be seen whether he'd sign of course.
  21. Geez, it's like that, um, stretch I won't speak about, never happened.
  22. I said it yesterday...the Brewers won last night so Cirillo's the shortstop until further notice.
  23. BA says the following on Brewer: 4. Brent Brewer, ss/of (National rank: 152) "Scouts recall Brewer stepping out of a batting cage at last summer's East Coast Showcase to answer cell phone calls from college football recruiters." "swings and misses frequently. When he squares balls on his barrel, he shows above-average power."
  24. I hope you all realize that if the Brewers win, Cirillo will play every inning at SS the rest of the year... Still, nice to have an early lead.
