  1. Have you seen the girls who go to ASU? I'd be pretty excited about being a baseball player there too. Only thing better than being an ASU baseball player there is being a professional baseball player down road there in Maryvale He still gets the same girls but with more prestige!
  2. 1B Clarke (He will not stick at C but Brewers like to try guys there 1st) Low (Johnson said mainly first but will try pitching) 3B Black (played 2B because of shoulder surgery but can & has played 3B) Binelas (May end up at 1B but Johnson said they’d give him every chance) Draft gave couple options
  3. SS Kay-Lan Nicasia has cool background
  4. From article with interview Avina Looks like he is wanting to sign & get started.
  5. Brewers have been very good about locking up picks up. They pay close attention to the money as they go. Looking at Johnson’s track record, we can probably assume we will get at least 5 of these picks signed. Riggio & Vire will probably top priority & they must know price could fit in budget. Avina & Low are very interesting, hope we can at least land one of them Rogers & Holton are late flyers on guys you probably can’t sign but build relationship & who knows…. Something goes wrong with Riggio & Vire… throw that money at one & see what happens.
  6. Not important but interesting…. Sam Frelick’s younger Brother was the Northeastern Husky baseball player Dave Portnoy was talking when he first mentioned he/Barstool Sports had sponsored a girl volleyball player from Jacksonville St. & a baseball player from Northeastern. His sister is also on the Duke softball team that just won the ACC. Guess you can say the Frelick’s are a baseball family.
  7. Perfect example of buying the loud tool in these 10+ rounds. Woodruff threw gas in college but couldn’t hit a strike zone. He had solid freshman year, okay sophomore year, and just train wreck junior year where he was removed as a starter. Had 25bb to 29ks in 37 ips. Era over 6. But he had raw stuff there to coach up. Luckily Brewers got it out of him!
  8. Didn't we draft him the first time around? Yeah believe in the 14th. He was a top 200 kid then with signability issues. He has 70-80 raw power but K% is insanely high. Buy the game changing tool & hope you can coach up the rest.
  9. While he hasn’t been able to hit much at FSU outside of bombs, I wouldn’t mind going with Elijah Cabell. Really wanted him to sign out of high school. Raw tools are there. Once you get to these rounds, buy the loud tools over production. His power & arm are both very good
  10. I was going to mention the long arms as well. Brewers love deception. With those long arms & size, you can create pretty good deception & make it seem like ball is on hitter way faster than the velocity. Brewers are very high on their pitching lab & have seen some really good results. He has really good foundation with size, being lefty, command, and a plus off speed pitch. They have to believe they can maximize his stuff more. Someone mentioned Jimmy Nelson earlier & think that was pretty great. We all kind of over looked Jimmy & weren’t high on the pick. He started off slower in minors but worked out really well for us. Hope this pick turns out in similar fashion. Never know, it’s a crapshoot. He could turn out to be like Lemon pick so far.
  11. He is also in Carolina League though which had been notoriously hard for hitters. If this was old minors he would have been a 21 year old rookie in Helena & 22 year old in Wisconsin. That is pretty typical pace to start after being drafted. He is only slightly above league average for age. With hitters with 150 PA he is 3rd in ops… well second now Gray Jr moved up. To knock a guy for being just above or at league average for age is questionable. If he was 23 or 24 I’d get it. Over half of the top 30 hitters (16) in the league are 22 or older. That takes you all the way down to about .768 OPS. He has been terrific since slow banged up start.
  12. Personally, I think you are undervaluing Frelick a bit - as I would clearly put him somewhere in our top 3 prospects. I'm guessing Black will slot somewhere in the 4-8 range on our list, and then I'd probably put Binelas somewhere in the 8-12 range in our system. No way, I'm ranking Binelas any lower than Lutz right now. I think he's really similar to David Hamilton and Hamilton is outside our top 10 Well to be fair, a big reason Hamilton is outside of 10 is because he was drafted with an injury & couldn’t play after being drafted. Then no baseball last year. How can you put a bone top pick or bonus baby in top 10 when they had never touched field. Think he will be much higher soon. Also Hamilton was known as a solid bat but elite speed & defender. Frelick has the elite speed & defense but also a much high end bat. Hamilton before injury wasn’t in nearly every analysts top 10-15. Frelick was for a reason. Sole reason people are down on Sal is he is 5’9 & act like he has little pop in his bat. If he was even 6’0… people would be drooling over pick. The bat is going to be much better with more pop than given credit to right now.
  13. I wonder if strategy is load up on college guys in draft & continue to hit international hard for the young developmental guys.
  14. Gray Jr. another triple. After today he should have a cool wRC+ of 200. Kid is just on fire. Also when was the last time we saw this much hitting in Carolina? In a league well known for being very pitcher friendly and tough on hitters. While in Wisconsin....Hamilton flashing power this week and continuing to impress. Ward continues his hitting ways. Howell continues to do Howell things. Mitchell impressing since injury. What a fun offense. I need to get to a game before they head up! Think our Power 25 will be looking a lot different in July! Some guys are really flashing that many of us weren't following too closely before! Love to see guys taking that step forward!
  15. Gray Jr. now has 23 RBI’s on the season thru 21 games. Sure hit & contact skills are still work in progress but he’s walking over 10% of time & smoking the ball. Think he may be starting to click a bit. Usually Carolina league is brutal on hitters yet every night, they are most exciting box score to check. Those kids are hitting!
  16. Just because I am a Ben Sheets homer, I'd like to note that his son Seaver Sheets, a High School SS and Auburn signee will be draft eligible this summer. Saw one site having him ranked in top 250 and 7th best player in Louisiana. Believe he is solid pitcher as well but will be probably be a middle IF.
  17. I've been wondering the same thing. I would assume so but like you said, there is just zero updates or news. Like everything about the minor leagues is a be secret. I hate everything the MLB has been doing with the minor leagues and draft the last year or so. The late start this year included. I long for the morning I can wake up and check all the box scores again.
  18. I personally go Houser over Lindblom. More potential there. Houser does have a nice power arm that would thrive in pen but still think he can be a solid starter.
  19. I'd gladly take Gomez 2012 - 1st Half of 15' all over again. 2017 Arcia was pretty solid then two poor years. Then last year was step back in right direction. Does he swing at dumb pitches and not walk enough, yes. However, he K's less than 20% and 7-8% BB isn't dreadful. His soft contact% has decreased every year and his hard contact % has increased every year. As well as his exit velocity and barrel percentage. For good chunk of last summer, he was one of the few actually not looking just terrible out there offensively. Not saying he is going to Gomez like breakout at 26 but there are signs of improvement. Don't think he is as useless has claimed to be. Defense has been a head scratcher though. Overall, I'm very interested in how CC manages this infield. Urias has had small sample with all the injuries but he has just as much to prove. Whoever is coming out and hitting will find way on field more. At this point, I still think that may be Arcia. Just haven't seen enough from Urias to really give me much optimism that he is clear better choice. Again small sample and I have followed Arcia for like 8 years now so that hope is still there for him to click.
  20. 1. Garrett Mitchell 2. Aaron Ashby (I have always been very bullish on Ashby, stuff is electric) 3. Brice Turang 4. Antoine Kelly (David Price 2.0 who continues to impress the Brewers) 5. Hedbert Perez 6. Ethan Small 7. Mario Feliciano (In my opinion one of the most overlooked talents, guy can hit!) 8. Eduardo Garcia 9. Tristen Lutz 10. Freddy Zamora 11. Drew Rasmussen (Still eligible correct?) 12. Carlos Rodriquez 13. Payton Henry 14. Leo Crawford 15. Tyrone Taylor 16. Dylan File 17. Zavier Warren 18. Luis Medina 19. Max Lazar 20. Jeferson Quero 21.Hayden Cantrelle (Think he will blow up, very high on) 22.Nick Bennett 23. Jesus Parra 24. Thomas Dillard 25. Micah Bello
  21. VIDEO interview via MLB Network's "Hot Stove" Thanks Mass! Loved interview! I remember when he blew up on Twitter and was signed. Is it just me or does his fastball have great life and movement? It looked like on almost all it had real nice late tail back to the right. Who knows what happens with him but great story and a guy to cheer for.
  22. Is it unrealistic for Ray to make opening day roster? As it is right now, he is 26 already (27 in September) and McKinney and Taylor are main competition for that 4th spot. Think the one with best Spring will win out. Taylor with solid debut maybe gets first look.I have no clue how good good/bad he was last summer in Appleton or how he looked in Arizona during Fall. Injuries and poor performance in 2019 dropped his stock a ton but I still feel he can bounce back and produce. Like I have always said, he is an OF version of Rickie Weeks at the plate. Have to take the extreme highs with the extreme lows....those highs though....those can be extremely good.
  23. April is who I am thinking. Chryst is a very promote internally guy. Keep system in place and everything as consistent as possible
  24. Our starting OF should give good production with Yeli, LoCain, and Garcia. Think Taylor could settle in real nice as 4th OF. I'm very optimistic about our catchers. Think Narvy will bounce back, Pina is solid, and I still like Nottingham as well (Not sure why he hasn't been considered as a 1st base option) We have Burnes and Woodruff to lead rotation with D-Train, Hader, and Peralta. Huira will bounce back. For rest of infield hmmmm Maybe Urias can break out and Arcia can take another. Vogelbach can carry over success and play D at 1st
  25. Haven't spent the past 4/5 years doing my best to drive the Burnes future Cy Young homer bus through the highs and lows just to watch him win it for the Soxs. However, if you absolutely drain the White Sox in trade...I'll survive my the heart break. Realistically, you need to pay Woodruff sooner and he has more track record of success. If you are going to sell off some pieces to reload, he seems like the more likely trade in my opinion. Burnes I believe still has at least 4 years of control. Maybe 5 even depending how how this season counted against him.
